An indicator model for assessing community resilience to the COVID-19 pandemic and its validation: A case study in Hong Kong

The COVID-19 outbreak had a significant negative impact on the world,and the fifth wave of COVID-19 in Hong Kong brought a considerable shock to Chinese *** is a growing call for more resilient ***,empirical evidence and validation of modeling studies of resilience indicators for urban community responses to the COVID-19 pandemic still need to be *** this study,a resilience assessment indicator model comprising 4 subsystems,7 indicators,and 12 variables was developed to assess the resilience of Hong Kong communities in response to COVID-19(i.e.,resilience Index).Furthermore,this study utilized regression models such as geographically weighted regression(GWr)and multiscale GWr(MGWr)to validate the resilience model proposed in this study at the model and variable *** the regression model,the resilience Index and the individual variables in the resilience model are explanatory variables,and the outcomes of the COVID-19 pandemic(confirmed cases,confirmation rate,discharged cases,discharge rate)are dependent *** results showed that:(i)the resilience of Hong Kong communities to the COvID-19 pandemic was not strong in general and showed some clustered spatial distribution characteristics;(i)the validation results at the model level showed that the resilience Index did not explain the consequences of the COvID-19 pandemic to a high degree;(ii)the validation results at the variable level showed that the MGWr model was the best at identifying the relationships between explanatory variables and the dependent variable;and(iv)compared with the model-level assessment results,the variable-level assessment explained the consequences of the COvID-19 pandemic better than the model level assessment *** above analysis and the spatial distribution maps of the resilience variables can provide empirically based and targeted insights for policymakers.

With the increase in IoT(Internet of Things)devices comes an inherent challenge of *** the world today,privacy is the prime concern of every *** one’s privacy and keeping anonymity throughout the system is a desired functionality that does not come without inevitable trade-offs like scalability and increased complexity and is always exceedingly difficult to *** challenge is keeping confidentiality and continuing to make the person innominate throughout the *** address this,we present our proposed architecture where we manage IoT devices using blockchain *** proposed architecture works on and off blockchain integrated with the closed-circuit television(CCTV)security camera fixed at the rental *** this framework,the CCTV security camera feed is redirected towards the owner and renter based on the smart contract *** entity(owner or renter)can see the CCTV security camera feed at one *** is no third-party dependence except for the CCTV security camera deployment *** contributions include the proposition of framework architecture,a novel smart contract algorithm,and the modification to the ring signatures leveraging an existing cryptographic *** are made based on different systems’security and key management *** an empirical study,our proposed algorithm performed better in key generation,proof generation,and verification *** comparing similar existing schemes,we have shown the proposed architectures’*** now,we have developed this system for a specific area in the real ***,this system is scalable and applicable to other areas like healthcare monitoring systems,which is part of our future work.

Analysis of b→cτν¯_(τ)anomalies using weak effective Hamiltonian with complex couplings and their impact on various physical observables

recently,the experimental measurements of the branching ratios and different polarization asymmetries for processes occurring through flavor-changing-charged current(b→cτν¯_(τ))transitions by BABAr,Belle,and LHCb have revealed some significant differences from the corresponding Standard Model(SM)*** has triggered an interest to search for physics beyond the SM in the context of various new physics(NP)models and using the model-independent weak effective Hamiltonian(WEH).Assuming left-handed neutrinos,we add the dimension-six vector,(pseudo-)scalar,and tensor operators with complex Wilson coefficients(WCs)to the SM *** 60%,30%,and 10%constraints resulting from the branching ratio of B_(c)→τν¯_(τ),we reassess the parametric space of these new physics WCs accommodating the current anomalies based on the most recent HFLAV data of r_(τ/μ,e)(D)and r_(τ/μ,e)(D^(*))and Belle data of F_(L)(D^(*))and P_(τ)(D^(*)).We find that the allowed parametric region of left-handed scalar couplings strongly depends on the constraints of the B_(c)→τν¯_(τ)branching ratio,and the maximum pull from the SM predictions results from theranching ratio ***,the parametric region changes significantly if we extend the analysis by adding LHCb data of r_(τ/μ)(J/ψ)and r_(τ/ℓ)(Λ_(c)).Furthermore,due to the large uncertainties in the measurements of r_(τ/μ)(J/ψ)and r_(τ/ℓ)(X_(c)),we derive the sum rules which complement them with r_(τ/μ,e)(D)and r_(τ/μ,e)(D^(*)).Using the best-fit points of the new complex WCs along with the latest measurements of r_(τ/μ,e)(D(^(*))),we predict the numerical values of the observable r_(τ/ℓ)(Λ_(c)),r_(τ/μ)(J/ψ),and r_(τ/ℓ)(X_(c))from the sum *** simultaneous dependence of abovementioned physical observables on the NP WCs is established by plotting their correlation with r_(D) and r_(D^(*)),which are useful to discriminate between various NP *** find that the most significant impact of NP results from the WC C^(S)_(L)=4C^(T).Fi

Modeling environmental sensitivity and risk assessment of PAHs in sediments along two marine coastal areas in Egypt

Modeling the environmental sensitivity index(ESI)is vital in the planning and management processes,especially along the coastal *** main objectives of the study were to define the main sources of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs),establish an ESI model,and measure the risk of PAHs on humans and the environment using various *** methodology of the research involved analyzing PAHs according to the EPA 550 methodology in sediments of the coastline in two important coastline areas in Egypt,namely the Gulf of Suez and the Mediterranean Sea,modeling the sensitivity of PAHs using ArcGIS 10.5 by integrating different physical,biological,and land use/cover factors,identifying the sources,and performing a risk *** sediment samples were collected from each *** produced sensitivity map could explain the highly sensitive areas along the Mediterranean Sea and Gulf of Suez coastlines(especially areas that were near drains'outlets,industrial sites,and sea ports).The highest mean PAH concentrations were Acenaphthylene and Fluorine in the Mediterranean Sea and Suez Gulf,***'s obvious that the individual PAH concentrations were within the ErL,ErM,and PEL threshold limits,indicating no adverse biological *** ratios of BaA/BaA+Chy,Flu/Flu+Py,and Ant/Ant+Phe gave an indication that most PAH sources were petrogenic(63.64%)and others(36.36%)were from petroleum *** principle component analysis(PCA)indicated a diverse correlation among the isomer ratios and LU/LC *** carcinogenic risk values were in the very low category(r both children and *** most significant contributors to carcinogenicity were IP and BkFlu in the Mediterranean Sea and Suez Gulf,*** sources of carbon in seawater,especially with climatic change,may impact the aquatic environment and have impacts on organisms and coral *** it is highly recommended to keep shorelines and seawater free of oil spillage act

Wheat is a critical crop,extensively consumed worldwide,and its production enhancement is essential to meet escalating *** presence of diseases like stem rust,leaf rust,yellow rust,and tan spot significantly diminishes wheat yield,making the early and precise identification of these diseases vital for effective disease *** advancements in deep learning algorithms,researchers have proposed many methods for the automated detection of disease pathogens;however,accurately detectingmultiple disease pathogens simultaneously remains a *** challenge arises due to the scarcity of rGB images for multiple diseases,class imbalance in existing public datasets,and the difficulty in extracting features that discriminate between multiple classes of disease *** this research,a novel method is proposed based on Transfer Generative Adversarial Networks for augmenting existing data,thereby overcoming the problems of class imbalance and data *** study proposes a customized architecture of Vision Transformers(ViT),where the feature vector is obtained by concatenating features extracted from the custom ViT and Graph Neural *** paper also proposes a Model AgnosticMeta Learning(MAML)based ensemble classifier for accurate *** proposedmodel,validated on public datasets for wheat disease pathogen classification,achieved a test accuracy of 99.20%and an F1-score of 97.95%.Compared with existing state-of-the-art methods,this proposed model outperforms in terms of accuracy,F1-score,and the number of disease pathogens *** future,more diseases can be included for detection along with some other modalities like pests and weed.

Probing the Efficiency of PPMG-Based Composite Electrolytes for Applications of Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell

PPMG-based composite electrolytes were fabricated via the solution method using the polyvinyl alcohol and polyvinylpyrrolidone blend reinforced with various contents of sulfonated inorganic *** acid was employed as the sulfonating agent to functionalize the external surface of the inorganic filler,i.e.,graphene *** proton conductivities of the newly prepared proton exchange membranes(PEMs)were increased by increasing the temperature and content of sulfonated graphene oxide(SGO),i.e.,ranging from 0.025 S/cm to 0.060 S/*** induction of the optimum level of SGO is determined to be an excellent route to enhance ionic *** single-cell performance test was conducted by sandwiching the newly prepared PEMs between an anode(0.2 mg/cm^(2) Pt/ru)and a cathode(0.2 mg/cm^(2) Pt)to prepare membrane electrode assemblies,followed by hot pressing under a pressure of approximately 100 kg/cm^(2) at 60℃for 5–10 *** highest power densities achieved with PPMG PEMs were 14.9 and 35.60 mW/cm^(2) at 25℃and 70℃,respectively,at ambient pressure with 100%relative *** showed that the newly prepared PEMs exhibit good electrochemical *** results indicated that the prepared composite membrane with 6 wt%filler can be used as an alternative membrane for applications of high-performance proton exchange membrane fuel cell.
