Acoustic Conditioning System Development and Conditioning Experiments on Black Seabreams in the Xiangshan Bay Sea Ranch

Attracting released hatchery-reared fish to designated areas during the growth process is vital to realize the objectives of sea ranching. Based on the bottom artificial reefs and surface kelp culture facilities in the Xiangshan Bay sea ranch, we proposed systematic techniques related to acoustic conditioning of the black seabream(Sparus macrocephalus). Experiments conducted in 12 m × 10 m × 1.6 m ponds on Xixuan Island showed that black seabream was positively sensitive to 500–600 Hz periodic signals. Conditioned responses were apparent after 8 d. Two to three days were required for recovery of the memory of a conditioned response after a 20-day interval. According to the practical application requirements in the open sea, unattended acoustic conditioning equipment was developed. The ranching equipment was used in 12 m × 12 m × 2.5 m cages, and the behavior of black seabream juveniles was successfully guided after 7 days. Of the 16000 released fish, 82.5% of them were conditioned with a flexible grading net. To avoid inducing a stress response, the juveniles were released into the sea ranch in situ from the net cage. The acoustic conditioning equipments were moved into the open sea and the aggregation phenomenon of the released fish was observed when the sound was played. After 6 months of investigation and based on Sr+ marking, only one acoustically conditioned fish was found outside the 3.5-km^2 sea ranch area, thereby reached the goal of guiding activity. The practical effect in the Xiangshan Bay sea ranch showed the validity of the acoustic conditioning system, which may contribute to improve the operation of the sea ranches in the East China Sea.

Impact of industrial effluent on growth and yield of rice(Oryza sativa L.) in silty clay loam soil

Degradation of soil and water from discharge of untreated industrial effluent is alarming in Bangladesh. Therefore, buildup of heavy metals in soil from contaminated effluent, their entry into the food chain and effects on rice yield were quantified in a pot experiment. The treatments were comprised of 0, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% industrial effluents applied as irrigation water. Effluents, initial soil, different parts of rice plants and post-harvest pot soil were analyzed for various elements, including heavy metals. Application of elevated levels of effluent contributed to increased heavy metals in pot soils and rice roots due to translocation effects, which were transferred to rice straw and grain. The results indicated that heavy metal toxicity may develop in soil because of contaminated effluent *** metals are not biodegradable, rather they accumulate in soils, and transfer of these metals from effluent to soil and plant cells was found to reduce the growth and development of rice plants and thereby contributed to lower yield. Moreover, a higher concentration of effluent caused heavy metal toxicity as well as reduction of growth and yield of rice, and in the long run a more aggravated situation may threaten human lives,which emphasizes the obligatory adoption of effluent treatment before its release to the environment, and regular monitoring by government agencies needs to be ensured.

Damped Kadomtsev–Petviashvili Equation for Weakly Dissipative Solitons in Dense Relativistic Degenerate Plasmas

We have investigated the properties of three-dimensional electrostatic ion solitary structures in highly dense collisional plasma composed of ultra-relativistically degenerate electrons and non-relativistic degenerate ions. In the limit of low ion-neutral collision rate, we have derived a damped Kadomtsev–Petviashvili(KP) equation using perturbation analysis. Supplemented by vanishing boundary conditions, the time varying solution of damped KP equation leads to a weakly dissipative compressive soliton. The real frequency behavior and linear damping of solitary pulse due to ion-neutral collisions is discussed. In the presence of weak transverse perturbations, soliton evolution with damping parameter and plasma density is delineated pointing out the extent of propagation using typical parameters of dense plasma in the interior of white dwarfs.

OBJECTIVE:To investigate Sterculia diversifolia *** for potential anti-diabetic activity in the in vivo mouse model of alloxan-induced ***:Sterculia diversifolia(***)was subjected to extraction and isolation techniques and structural characterization of the isolated compounds were performed using spectroscopic *** acute toxicity test was performed by orally administering *** in doses of 500-2000 mg/*** the assessment of anti-hyperglycemic activity,*** bark and leaves extracts were administered orally in doses of 50,100,and 200 mg/kg,along with metformin(150 mg/kg,i.p)as positive control,after confirmation of alloxan(150 mg/kg,i.p.)induced hyperglycemia in BALB/c *** biochemical parameters were monitored for the period of ***:The phytochemical studies showed the presence of quercetin and kaempferol in *** IC50 values in the in vivo acute toxicity study revealed the safety margin of *** bark(1166.66 mg/kg)and leaves(683.34 mg/kg)extracts.A significant attenuation of alloxan induced hyperglycemia was produced by *** extracts at 50 mg/kg(Puring 1-4 h,which was comparable to metformin(Purea,creatinine,HDL,and LDL of the stem bark and leaves extracts treated diabetic ***:These findings connote the usefulness of *** as an anti-diabetic in traditional medicine and this might be attributed to the presence of quercetin and kaempferol,among other phytochemicals.

COVID-19 turned out to be an infectious and life-threatening viral disease,and its swift and overwhelming spread has become one of the greatest challenges for the *** yet,no satisfactory vaccine or medication has been developed that could guarantee its mitigation,though several efforts and trials are *** around the globe are striving to overcome the COVID-19 spread and while they are finding out ways for early detection and timely *** this regard,healthcare experts,researchers and scientists have delved into the investigation of existing as well as new *** situation demands development of a clinical decision support system to equip the medical staff ways to timely detect this *** state-of-the-art research in Artificial intelligence(AI),Machine learning(ML)and cloud computing have encouraged healthcare experts to find effective detection *** study aims to provide a comprehensive review of the role of AI&ML in investigating prediction techniques for the COVID-19.A mathematical model has been formulated to analyze and detect its potential *** proposed model is a cloud-based smart detection algorithm using support vector machine(CSDC-SVM)with cross-fold validation *** experimental results have achieved an accuracy of 98.4%with 15-fold cross-validation *** comparison with similar state-of-the-art methods reveals that the proposed CSDC-SVM model possesses better accuracy and efficiency.

Hydrothermal synthesis and characterization of carbon-doped TiO2 nanoparticles

We report the hydrothermal growth of pure and doped TiO2 nanoparticles with different concentrations of *** microstructure of the as-synthesized samples is characterized by x-ray diffraction(XRD),field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM),energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy(EDX),and Raman spectroscopy to understand the structure and *** XRD patterns confirm the formation of anatase phase of TiO2 with the average crystallite size is calculated to be in the range of 13 nm to 14.7 *** functional groups of these nanostructures are characterized by Fourier transformed infrared(FT-IR)spectroscopy,which further confirms the single anatase phase of the synthesized ***-visible absorption spectroscopy is used to understand the absorption behavior,which shows modification in the optical bandgap from 3.13 eV(pure TiO2)to 3.74 eV(1.2 mol%C-doped TiO2).Furthermore,the Ti^3+centers associated with oxygen vacancies are identified using electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy(EPR).

FUSCA3(FUS3)is a member of B3-domain transcription factor family and master regulator of seed *** has potential roles in hormone biosynthesis and signaling pathways and therefore plays diverse roles in plant life cycle,especially in seed germination,dormancy,embryo formation,seed and fruit development,and ***,there is limited information about its functions in seed and fruit development of *** this study,we expressed VvFUS3 in tomato for its functional *** of VvFUS3 in tomato led to a reduction in seed number and seed weight without affecting the fruit *** analysis found that both cell expansion and cell division in transgenic seed and fruit pericarp have been ***,there were no obvious differences in pollen size,shape,and viability,suggesting that VvFUS3 affects seed development but not the pollen ***,the expression of several genes with presumed roles in seed development and hormone signaling pathways was also influenced by *** results suggest that VvFUS3 is involved in hormonal signaling pathways that regulate seed number and *** conclusion,our study provides novel preliminary information about the pivotal roles of VvFUS3 in seed and fruit development and these findings can potentially serve as a reference for molecular breeding of seedless grapes.

任何人都不能忽视词汇在语言学习中,尤其是在语言交际时,所发挥的作用。词汇在语言的组成部分中的确是非常重要的一部分。Sweet 1899（引自Batia和Nation,1993:163）谈到“学习外语最根本的困难在于必须要掌握它的词汇。”Zimmerman（1997）指出:“词汇对于语言和把英语作为外语的学习者来说是极其重要的。”Wilkins（1972）强调:“如果没有语法,只能转递很少的信息;但没有词汇,那么什么也不能传递。”明白了这一点,我选择调查阿富汗英语外语学习者关于词汇学习的信念以及学习策略的运用。已经有很多对词汇学习和习得不同方面的研究,包括EFL和ESL学生采用的最多或最少的词汇学习策略,男性和女性之间的差异,成功学习者和不太成功学习者之间的差异,以及在语境内和语境外的词汇学习等。但是,在国内这将是第一次调查关于阿富汗英语学习者词汇策略的研究。此项研究将选取177名来自谢赫·扎耶德大学的英语专业的学生作为被试。问卷包含了四个内容:信念,元认知策略,认知策略和社会情感策略。本研究选取学期末考核GPA和词汇量测试作为研究效度的工具。此项研究的目的是找寻这些学习者是如何学习英语词汇的以及去提高词汇学习的意识和策略,并基于研究的结果,给出相应的教学启示以及未来的研究建议。本研究将采用独立样本T检验来发现男性和女性,成功学习者和不太成功学习者之间的差异,并且将使用埃塔方差来测算差异的值。本研究将主要涉及如下问题:（1）在扎耶德大学,学习者关于词汇学习的信念是什么?（2）在扎耶德大学,英语外语学习者使用最多和最少的策略分别是什么?（3）男性和女性是否使用了相同或不同的策略?（4）在成功学习者和不太成功学习者之间,使用词汇学习策略时数据上是否存在显著差异?在研究中,发现学生主要相信单词应该通过使用来学习。学习者通常报告他们所采用的认知策略最高;在认知策略中:语境猜测、字典策略、笔记和使用词结构是最可取的策略,使用最少的策略是激活。其次使用最多的是情感策略。根据研究结果,可以推断学习者善于控制积极情绪和消极情绪。元认知被排在第三位,在有选择性的调节学习中发挥着积极作用。在男性和女性的比较中,发现两组之间存在显著差异。根据研究结果,可以推断男性学习者比女性更善于利用学习策略,这与大多数认为女性学习者更善于使用学习策略的研究结果相矛盾。我的研究结果背后的原因可能是文化上的限制、公共安全等因素。与不太成功的学习者,成功的学习者更善于使用三种策略:元认知、认知和情感。

(EDTA)^(4-) supplements as superior modifier of the in-vitro-degradation properties of the magnesium alloy coated through discharge-assisted process

The(EDTA)^(4-)organic substituents were supplemented with alkaline silicates electrolyte,however in varying concentration to explore the microstructure,chemical composition and subsequent effects on the biodegradation of the PEO coated Mg AZ91 *** surface analysis-,carried out through SEM,samples with zero-(EDTA)^(4-)were found-,lacking pancake structural features;however,supplementing electrolyte with(EDTA)^(4-),bulky and layered pancakes were obtained with minimum cracks and minimum porosity for *** the phase and inner layer analysis,it was found that EDTA can significantly alter the surface layers composition and could act as a passivation agent-;however,individual polycrystalline phases were not found to *** hardness value obtained for EDT-1 was~909.69 HV,the highest value found here which occurs with the shallowest indents found in this ***-vitro degradation analysis was carried out using potentiodynamic polarization at room temperature,cyclic polarization at RT and high fever conditions(HFT~40°C).The corrosion potential for coated AZ91 was obtained as a positive value of~0.1 V,for the first time in the PEO research;however,the results were not supported by the cyclic polarization tests at room temperature and at *** post corrosion microstructural analysis confirmed the effective role of EDTA up to 1.0 g·L^(-1)and revealed the formation of thin films during the forward polarization at HFT.
