Co-treatment with pegylated interferon alfa-2a and entecavir for hepatitis D: a randomized trial

AIM: To investigate the efficacy of pegylated interferon alfa(PEG-IFNα) therapy with and without entecavir in patients with chronic hepatitis D. METHODS: Forty hepatitis D virus(HDV) RNA positive patients were randomized to receive either PEG-IFNα-2a 180 μg weekly in combination with entecavir 0.5 mg daily(n = 21) or PEG-IFNα alone(n =19). Patients who failed to show 2 log reduction in HDV RNA level at 24 wk of treatment, or had detectable HDV RNA at 48 wk of therapy were considered as treatment failure. Treatment was continued for 72 wk in the rest of the patients. All the patients were followed for 24 wk post treatment. Intention to treat analysis was ***: The mean age of the patients was 26.7 ± 6.8 years, 31 were male. Two log reduction in HDV RNA levels at 24 wk of therapy was achieved in 9(43%) patients receiving combination therapy and 12(63%) patients receiving PEG-IFNα alone(P = 0.199). Decline in hepatitis B surface antigen(HBs Ag) levels was insignificant. At the end of treatment, HDV RNA was negative in 8 patients(38%) receiving combination therapy and 10 patients(53%) receiving PEG-IFNα-2a alone. Virological response persisted in 7(33%) and 8(42%) patients, respectively at the end of the 24 wk follow-up period. One responder patient in the combination arm lost HBs Ag and became hepatitis B surface antibody positive. Six out of 14 baseline hepatitis B e antigen reactive patients seroconverted and four of these seroconverted patients had persistent HDV RNA ***: Administration of PEG-IFNα-2a with or without entecavir, resulted in persistent HDV RNA clearance in 37% of patients. The addition of entecavir did not improve the overall response.

Parametric relationship between hypoid gear teeth and accurate face-milling cutter

The cutter systems of hypoid gear cutting machines contain groups of inside and outside *** these cutter systems,the side cutting edges of the blades machine the convex and concave gear teeth while rotating about the cutter rotation *** side cutting edges lay on the rake face formed through the blade,rake,and relief angles;hence,the normal cross-section of the cutter swept surface forms hyperboloid gear *** the accurate geometry of the cutter system,a relationship between the pressure and spiral angles of the gear tooth and the parameters of the cutter system is developed for the FORMAT machining of a hypoid gear.A new parameterization of the gear tooth surfaces is introduced to determine these angles for the accurate gear tooth by the accurate cutter system.A numerical example with different cutter systems and blade parameters is presented,demonstrating the effects of rake and relief angles over the pressure and spiral angles on mea n point projections and gear tooth ***,the change in pressure and spiral angles with respect to the rake and relief angles are plotted,and the results are ***,it is concluded that the pressure and spiral angles are changed up to a few seconds of a degree in the operating area of the tooth with the change in the back and side rake *** side relief angle exhibited little or no effect over the geometry of the gear tooth.

Manipify:An Automated Framework for Detecting Manipulators in Twitter Trends

The rapid adoption of online social media platforms has transformed the way of communication and *** these platforms,discussions in the form of trending topics provide a glimpse of events happening around the world in ***,these trends are used for political campaigns,public awareness,and brand ***,these trends are sensitive to manipulation by malicious users who aim to mislead the mass *** this article,we identify and study the characteristics of users involved in the manipulation of Twitter trends in *** propose“Manipify”-a framework for automatic detection and analysis of malicious users in Twitter *** framework consists of three distinct modules:(1)user classifier,(2)hashtag classifier,and(3)trend *** user classifier module introduces a novel approach to automatically detect manipulators using tweet content and user behaviour ***,the module classifies human and bot ***,the hashtag classifier categorizes trending hashtags into six categories assisting in examining manipulators behaviour across different ***,the trend analyzer module examines users,hashtags,and tweets for hashtag reach,linguistic features,and user *** user classifier module achieves 0.92 and 0.98 accuracy in classifying manipulators and bots,*** further test Manipify on the dataset comprising 652 trending hashtags with 5.4 million tweets and 1.9 million *** analysis of trends reveals that the trending panel is mostly dominated by political *** addition,our results show a higher contribution of human accounts in trend manipulation as compared to bots.

A Finite Difference Method and Effective Modification of Gradient Descent Optimization Algorithm for MHD Fluid Flow Over a Linearly Stretching Surface

Present contribution is concerned with the construction and application of a numerical method for the fluid flow problem over a linearly stretching surface with the modification of standard Gradient descent Algorithm to solve the resulted difference *** flow problem is constructed using continuity,and Navier Stoke equations and these PDEs are further converted into boundary value problem by applying suitable similarity transformations.A central finite difference method is proposed that gives third-order accuracy using three grid *** stability conditions of the present proposed method using a Gauss-Seidel iterative procedure is found using Von-Neumann stability criteria and order of the finite difference method is proved by applying the Taylor series on the discretised *** comparison of the presently modified optimisation algorithm with the Gauss-Seidel iterative method and standard Newton’s method in optimisation is also *** can be concluded that the presently modified optimisation Algorithm takes a few iterations to converge with a small value of the parameter contained in it compared with the standard descent algorithm that may take millions of iterations to *** present modification of the steepest descent method converges faster than Gauss-Seidel method and standard steepest descent method,and it may also overcome the deficiency of singular hessian arise in Newton’s method for some of the cases that may arise in optimisation problem(s).

Quantitative estimation of dust fall and smoke particles in Quetta Valley

Tightening of air quality standards for populated urban areas has led to increasing attention to assessment of air quality management areas, where violation of air quality standards occurs, and development of control strategies to eliminate such vio-lation of air quality standards. The Quetta urban area is very densely built and has heavy motorized traffic. The increase of emis-sions mainly from traffic and industry are responsible for the increase in atmospheric pollution levels during the last years. The dust examined in the current study was collected by both deposit gauge and Petri dish methods at various sites of Quetta Valley. Smoke particles were obtained by bladder method from the exhausts of various types of motor vehicles. The concentration of lead found in the smoke ranged from 1.5×10?6 to 4.5×10?6.

Smart Objects Identification System for Robotic Surveillance

Video surveillance is an active research topic in computer *** this paper,humans and cars identifcation technique suitable for real time video surveillance systems is *** technique we proposed includes background subtraction,foreground segmentation,shadow removal,feature extraction and *** feature extraction of the extracted foreground objects is done via a new set of afne moment invariants based on statistics method and these were used to identify human or *** the partial occlusion occurs,although features of full body cannot be extracted,our proposed technique extracts the features of head *** proposed technique can identify human by extracting the human head-shoulder up to 60%–70%***,it has a better classifcation to solve the issue of the loss of property arising from human occluded easily in practical *** whole system works at approximately 16 29 fps and thus it is suitable for real-time *** accuracy for our proposed technique in identifying human is very good,which is 98.33%,while for cars identifcation,the accuracy is also good,which is 94.41%.The overall accuracy for our proposed technique in identifying human and car is at 98.04%.The experiment results show that this method is efective and has strong robustness.

The rapid growth in data generation and increased use of computer network devices has amplified the infrastructures of *** interconnectivity of networks has brought various complexities in maintaining network availability,consistency,and *** learning based intrusion detection systems have become essential to monitor network traffic for malicious and illicit *** intrusion detection system controls the flow of network traffic with the help of computer *** deep learning algorithms in intrusion detection systems have played a prominent role in identifying and analyzing intrusions in network *** this purpose,when the network traffic encounters known or unknown intrusions in the network,a machine-learning framework is needed to identify and/or verify network *** Intrusion detection scheme empowered with a fused machine learning technique(IDS-FMLT)is proposed to detect intrusion in a heterogeneous network that consists of different source networks and to protect the network from malicious *** proposed IDS-FMLT system model obtained 95.18%validation accuracy and a 4.82%miss rate in intrusion detection.

Determination of the feasible setup parameters of a workpiece to maximize the utilization of a five-axis milling machine

The machining industry must maximize the machine tool utilization for its efficient and effective usage. Determining a feasible workpiece location is one of the significant tasks performed in an iterative way via machining simulations. The maximum utilization of five-axis machine tools depends upon the cutting system’s geometry, the configuration of the machine tool, and the workpiece’s location. In this research, a mathematical model has been developed to determine the workpiece’s feasible location in the five-axis machine tool for avoiding the number of iterations, which are usually performed to eliminate the global collision and axis limit errors. In this research, a generic arrangement of the five-axis machine tool has been selected. The mathematical model of post-processor has been developed by using kinematic modeling methods. The machine tool envelopes have been determined using the post-processor and axial limit. The tooltip reachable workspace is determined by incorporating the post-processor, optimal cutting system length, and machining envelope, thereby further developing an algorithm to determine the feasible workpiece setup parameters accurately. The algorithm’s application has been demonstrated using an example. Finally, the algorithm is validated for feasible workpiece setup parameters in a virtual environment. This research is highly applicable in the industry to eliminate the number of iterations performed for the suitable workpiece setup parameters.
