Productive performance, egg quality, hematological parameters and serum chemistry of laying hens fed diets supplemented with certain fat-soluble vitamins, individually or combined, during summer season

This present study aimed to determine the efficacy of supplementing layer diets with vitamin A(0, 8,000 and16,000 IU/kg diet) and vitamin E(0, 250 and 500 mg/kg diet) either individually or in combination on egg production and quality, and blood hematology and chemistry of birds reared under summer conditions. A total of 135 Bovans Brown laying hens were distributed to 9 treatment groups with 5 replicates of 3 hens/pen in a 3 × 3 factorial design. A significant improvement in feed conversion ratio(FCR) was observed as supplementary vitamin A or E increased(P 0.01). Hens fed diets supplemented with 16,000 IU vitamin A plus 500 mg vitamin E/kg diet had the best FCR among all groups. Egg quality traits were not significantly affected by the interaction of vitamin A and vitamin E levels. There was a significant increase in monocytes(P ≤ 0.01)and a decrease in basophils counts(P ≤ 0.05) in response to vitamin E. Significant decreases were observed in packed cell volume(PCV), thyroxine(T_4), alanine transferase(ALT), albumin, total cholesterol and total lipids((P ≤ 0.05 or P ≤ 0.01) P 0.01), and increases were observed in serum concentrations of globulin(P ≤ 0.05)and calcium(P ≤ 0.01) due to vitamin A. The combination of 0 IU vitamin A and 500 mg vitamin E/kg diet had the highest values of PCV(40.09%) and hemoglobin(Hb)(10.33 mg/100 mL) among all groups. Vitamin E raised serum values of total protein, total cholesterol and total lipids(P ≤ 0.05 or P≤ 0.01). Feed intake, FCR,PCV, Hb, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, T_4, ALT and total protein were significantly affected by the interaction of vitamins A and E(P ≤ 0.05 or P ≤ 0.01). The interaction of vitamins A and E was only significant with respect to serum total protein(P ≤ 0.05). It can be concluded that layer diets supplemented with vitamins A and E had good results in alleviating the harmful impacts of high ambient temperature. The development of multimedia content has resulted in a massiveincrease in network traffic for video streaming. It demands such types ofsolutions that can be addressed to obtain the user’s Quality-of-Experience(QoE). 360-degree videos have already taken up the user’s behavior by storm.However, the users only focus on the part of 360-degree videos, known as aviewport. Despite the immense hype, 360-degree videos convey a loathsomeside effect about viewport prediction, making viewers feel uncomfortablebecause user viewport needs to be pre-fetched in advance. Ideally, we canminimize the bandwidth consumption if we know what the user motionin advance. Looking into the problem definition, we propose an EncoderDecoder based Long-Short Term Memory (LSTM) model to more accuratelycapture the non-linear relationship between past and future viewport positions. This model takes the transforming data instead of taking the direct inputto predict the future user movement. Then, this prediction model is combinedwith a rate adaptation approach that assigns the bitrates to various tiles for360-degree video frames under a given network capacity. Hence, our proposedwork aims to facilitate improved system performance when QoE parametersare jointly optimized. Some experiments were carried out and compared withexisting work to prove the performance of the proposed model. Last but notleast, the experiments implementation of our proposed work provides highuser’s QoE than its competitors.

Effects of variable retention harvesting on canopy transpiration in a red pine plantation forest

Background:Variable Retention Harvesting(VRH)is a forest management practice applied to enhance forest growth,improve biodiversity,preserve ecosystem function and provide economic revenue from harvested timber.There are many different forms and compositions in which VRH is applied in forest ecosystems.In this study,the impacts of four different VRH treatments on transpiration were evaluated in an 83-year-old red pine(Pinus Pinus resinosa)plantation forest in the Great Lakes region in Canada.These VRH treatments included 55%aggregated crown retention(55A),55%dispersed crown retention(55D),33%aggregated crown retention(33A),33%dispersed crown retention(33D)and unharvested control(CN)plot.These VRH treatments were implemented in 1-ha plots in the winter of 2014,while sap flow measurements were conducted from 2018 to 2020.Results:Study results showed that tree-level transpiration was highest among trees in the 55D treatment,followed by 33D,55A,33A and CN plots.We found that photosynthetically active radiation(PAR)and vapor pressure deficit(VPD)were major controls or drivers of transpiration in all VRH treatments.Our study suggests that dispersed or distributed retention of 55%basal area(55D)is the ideal forest management technique to enhance transpiration and forest growth.Conclusions:This study will help researchers,forest managers and decision-makers to improve their understanding of water cycling in forest ecosystem and adopt the best forest management regimes to enhance forest growth,health and resiliency to climate change.

MDEV Model:A Novel Ensemble-Based Transfer Learning Approach for Pneumonia Classification Using CXR Images

Pneumonia is a dangerous respiratory disease due to which breathing becomes incredibly difficult and painful;thus,catching it early is crucial.Medical physicians’time is limited in outdoor situations due to many patients;therefore,automated systems can be a rescue.The input images from the X-ray equipment are also highly unpredictable due to variances in radiologists’experience.Therefore,radiologists require an automated system that can swiftly and accurately detect pneumonic lungs from chest x-rays.In medical classifications,deep convolution neural networks are commonly used.This research aims to use deep pretrained transfer learning models to accurately categorize CXR images into binary classes,i.e.,Normal and Pneumonia.The MDEV is a proposed novel ensemble approach that concatenates four heterogeneous transfer learning models:Mobile-Net,DenseNet-201,EfficientNet-B0,and VGG-16,which have been finetuned and trained on 5,856 CXR images.The evaluation matrices used in this research to contrast different deep transfer learning architectures include precision,accuracy,recall,AUC-roc,and f1-score.The model effectively decreases training loss while increasing accuracy.The findings conclude that the proposed MDEV model outperformed cutting-edge deep transfer learning models and obtains an overall precision of 92.26%,an accuracy of 92.15%,a recall of 90.90%,an auc-roc score of 90.9%,and f-score of 91.49%with minimal data pre-processing,data augmentation,finetuning and hyperparameter adjustment in classifying Normal and Pneumonia chests.

Heat and drought impact on carbon exchange in an age-sequence of temperate pine forests

Background:Most North American temperate forests are plantation or regrowth forests,which are actively managed.These forests are in different stages of their growth cycles and their ability to sequester atmospheric carbon is affected by extreme weather events.In this study,the impact of heat and drought events on carbon sequestration in an age‑sequence(80,45,and 17 years as of 2019)of eastern white pine(Pinus strobus L.)forests in southern Ontario,Canada was examined using eddy covariance flux measurements from 2003 to 2019.Results:Over the 17‑year study period,the mean annual values of net ecosystem productivity(NEP)were 180±96,538±177 and 64±165 g C m^(–2)yr^(–1)in the 80‑,45‑and 17‑year‑old stands,respectively,with the highest annual carbon sequestration rate observed in the 45‑year‑old stand.We found that air temperature(Ta)was the dominant control on NEP in all three different‑aged stands and drought,which was a limiting factor for both gross ecosystem productivity(GEP)and ecosystems respiration(RE),had a smaller impact on NEP.However,the simultaneous occurrence of heat and drought events during the early growing seasons or over the consecutive years had a significant negative impact on annual NEP in all three forests.We observed a similar trend of NEP decline in all three stands over three consecutive years that experienced extreme weather events,with 2016 being a hot and dry,2017 being a dry,and 2018 being a hot year.The youngest stand became a net source of carbon for all three of these years and the oldest stand became a small source of carbon for the first time in 2018 since observations started in 2003.However,in 2019,all three stands reverted to annual net carbon sinks.Conclusions:Our study results indicate that the timing,frequency and concurrent or consecutive occurrence of extreme weather events may have significant implications for carbon sequestration in temperate conifer forests in Eastern North America.This study is one of few globally available to provide long‑term observational data on carbon

Hollow-fiber liquid-phase microextraction(HF-LPME)and electromembrane extraction(EME)are miniaturized extraction techniques,and have been coupled with various analytical instruments for trace analysis of heavy metals,drugs and other organic compounds,in recent years.HF-LPME and EME provide high selectivity,efficient sample cleanup and enrichment,and reduce the consumption of organic sol-vents to a few micro-liters per sample.HF-LPME and EME are compatible with different analytical in-struments for chromatography,electrophoresis,atomic spectroscopy,mass spectrometry,and electrochemical detection.HF-LPME and EME have gained significant popularity during the recent years.This review focuses on hollow fiber based techniques(especially HF-LPME and EME)of heavy metals and pharmaceuticals(published 2017 to May 2019),and their combinations with atomic spectroscopy,UV-VIS spectrophotometry,high performance liquid chromatography,gas chromatography,capillary elec-trophoresis,and voltammetry.

Background:Considering the fact that Pakistan is amongst the countries with very high neonatal mortality rates,we conducted a research study to determine the possible causes and characteris廿cs of neonates presenting dead to the emergency department of tertiary public health care facilities of Pakistan using verbal autopsies.Memods:A descriptive case series study was conducted in emergency department/pediatrics ward/neonatal ward/nursery unit of ten tertiary care public health facilities,situated in seven malor cities of Pakistan from November,2011 to June。2013.Precoded verbal autopsy proforma was used to collect information regarding cause of death,family narratives and other associated risks accountable for pathway to mortality.

Privacy Protection with Dynamic Pseudonym-Based Multiple Mix-Zones Over Road Networks

In this research we proposed a strategy for location privacy protection which addresses the issues related with existing location privacy protection techniques. Mix-Zones and pseudonyms are considered as the basic building blocks for location privacy; however, continuously changing pseudonyms process at multiple locations can enhance user privacy. It has been revealed that changing pseudonym at improper time and location may threat to user's privacy. Moreover, certain methods related to pseudonym change have been proposed to attain desirable location privacy and most of these solutions are based upon velocity, GPS position and direction of angle. We analyzed existing methods related to location privacy with mix zones, such as RPCLP, EPCS and MODP, where it has been observed that these methods are not adequate to attain desired level of location privacy and suffered from large number of pseudonym changes. By analyzing limitations of existing methods, we proposed Dynamic Pseudonym based multiple mix zone(DPMM) technique, which ensures highest level of accuracy and privacy. We simulate our data by using SUMO application and analysis results has revealed that DPMM outperformed existing pseudonym change techniques and achieved better results in terms of acquiring high privacy with small number of pseudonym change.

“Liverscore”is predictive of both liver fi brosis and activity in chronic hepatitis C

AIM:To formulate a noninvasive index predictive of se-verity of liver f ibrosis and activity in chronic hepatitis C.METHODS:This cross sectional study was conducted on polymerase chain reaction positive,treatment nave patients.Fibrosis was staged on a f ive point scale from F0-F4 and activity was graded on a four point scale from A0-A3,according to the METAVIR system.Patients were divided into two overall severity groups,minimal disease(< F2 and < A2)and signif icant disease(≥ F2 or ≥ A2).Eleven markers were measured in blood.Sta-tistically,the primary outcome variable was identif ica-tion of minimal and signif icant overall disease.Indices were formulated using β regression values of different combinations of nine statistically significant factors.Diagnostic performance of these indices was assessed through receiver-operating characteristic curve analysis.RESULTS:A total of 98 patients were included and of these 46 had an overall clinically significant disease.Our f inal six marker index,Liverscore for Hepatitis C,consisted of age,alanine transaminase,gamma-gluta-myl transpeptidase,apolipoprotein A-1,alpha-2 macro-globulin and hyaluronic acid.The area under the curve was found to be 0.813.On a 0-1 scale,negative predic-tive value at a cutoff level of ≤ 0.40 was 83%,while positive predictive value at ≥ 0.80 remained 89%.Al-together,61% of the patients had these discriminative scores.CONCLUSION:This index is discriminative of minimal and significant overall liver disease in a majority of chronic hepatitis C patients and can help in clinical de-cision making.

Advanced wireless standards of communication like 3GPP and LTE are becoming more and more efficient and with this evolution of communication systems mobile equipment is also become smaller and smaller. Power amplifier designing has become a very crucial task in this era where efficiency and size are the main concern of any designer. In this paper we have design and analyzed X-band Class E Metal-semiconductor field effect transistor(MESFET) based Power Amplifier. This device targets the devices which use OFDM technique to improve their spectral efficiency for the next generation communication systems. Microstrip lines are used to achieve small size for our design instead of lumped components. Load Pull measurements are used to get MESFET input and output impedances optimum values. For linear and non linear operation small signal mathematical model of the design is used. To reduce thermal losses FR4 substrate is used to increase PA efficiency. Our designs shows small values of input and output return loss of about-22.3d B and-23.716 d B achieving a high gain of about25.6 d B respectively, with PAE of about 30 % having stability factor greater than 1 and 21.894 d Bm of output power.
