Cereal-legume intercropping stimulates straw decomposition and promotes soil organic carbon stability

Increasing carbon（C） sequestration and stability in agricultural soils is a key strategy to mitigate climate change towards C neutrality. Crop diversification is an initiative to increase C sequestration in fields, but it is unclear how legume-based crop diversification impacts the functional components of soil organic carbon（SOC） in dryland, including the formation and transformation of particulate organic carbon（POC） and mineral-associated organic carbon（maOC）. We investigated the decomposition of straw residues, the fate of photosynthesized C,as well as the formation of maOC and POC fractions using an in situ13C labeling technique in the soybean-wheat intercropping, soybeanmaize intercropping and their respective monocropping systems, with and without cover crops. After 4-year treatments, the total SOC content in bulk soil remained unchanged, while maOC content increased significantly by 5.6% with intercropping. Moreover, the in situ13C labeling results confirmed that more photosynthesized C was transferred to maOC, and less was retained in the POC fraction. Intercropping significantly increased total soil N and mineral N content by 15.3% and 13.4%, respectively, and decreased soil and microbial C/N ratio by11.3% and 17.4%, respectively. This outcome, therefore, relieved microbial N limitation and accelerated straw residue ***, the potential of maOC formation was strengthened for better SOC persistence. Our study suggests that legume-based crop diversification can effectively enrich N and support POC transformation to maOC, accordingly contributing to the persistent SOC pool and thus potentially achieving C neutrality under climate change in dryland agroecosystems.

Efficient water splitting with a MOF-74(Ni)-derived composite electrocatalyst prepared via microwave- and laser-assisted synthesis

Metal-organic frameworks(MOFs),with their highly coordinated structure,high porosity,and tunability have piqued vast scientific attention as a promising platform for creating high-efficiency electrocatalysts for water ***,the conventional methods of creating MOF-derived electrocatalysts are time-and energy-consuming and often lead to significant aggregation of metal particles and the formation of non-homogeneous porous *** this research,we leverage the potential of the MOF-template-directed fabrication approach,combined with microwave heating and laser-assisted post-treatment,to develop a facile,scalable,and versatile strategy for electrocatalyst ***,hierarchically structured Ni-based MOF-74 was rapidly synthesized from the Ni hydroxide nanosheet arrays deposited onto a Ni foam substrate using microwave-assisted ***,the obtained structures were treated using a focused laser to create MOF-74(Ni)-derived composite electrocatalyst featuring encapsulated nickel oxide *** resulting electrocatalyst exhibited high efficiency and stability for facilitating the oxygen evolution reaction(OEr)under alkaline *** outstanding electrocatalytic performance of the developed material enables it to reach a current density of 50 ma/cm?at an overpotential of 318 *** electrocatalytic activity can be attributed to its distinctive morphology,which offers numerous exposed active sites for water *** experimental data gathered in this study is anticipated to be of significant value for the synthesis of other MOF-derived composite materials featuring hierarchical ***,the study emphasized the importance of using a combination of microwave heating and laser-assisted post-treatment of MOFs to achieve a sustainable and efficient process for electrocatalyst synthesis.

Nowadays,searching for the materials with multiple magneto-functional properties and good mechanical properties is vital in various fields,such as solid-state refrigeration,magnetic actuators,magnetic sensors and intelligent/smart *** this work,the magnetic-field-induced metamagnetic reverse martensitic transformation(MFIrMT)from paramagnetic martensite to ferromagnetic austenite with multiple magneto-responsive effects is realized in Fe-doped Co-V-Ga Heusler alloys by manipulating the magnetic *** martensitic transformation temperature Tmreduces quasi-linearly with increasing *** strikingly contrast with the Fe-free alloys,the magnetization difference(M')across martensitic transformation increases by three orders of magnitude for Fe-doped *** increased M'should be ascribed to the reduction of Tm,almost unchanged Curie temperature of austenite and the increased magnetic moment in the samples with higher *** large M'provides strong driving force to realize the MFIrMT and accordingly multiple magneto-responsive effects,such as magnetocaloric,magnetoresistance and magnetostriction ***,giant Vickers hardness of 518 HV and compressive strength of 1423 MPa are *** magneto-responsive effects with exceptional mechanical properties make these alloys great potential candidates for applications in many fields.

rice, a staple cereal crop in many parts of the world, has been confronted with multiple environmental stresses including high temperature, negatively impacts the booting as well as anthesis growth stages. The situation is further complicated by the changing climatic conditions, resulting in gradual escalation of temperature as well as changing the rainfall pattern and frequency, thus raising a concern of food security worldwide. The situation can be combat by developing rice varieties with excellent genetics with improved morpho-physiological, biochemical, and molecular mechanisms, together can minimize the adverse effects of heat stress. Here, several strategies(encompassing genetic and genomic, and mechanisms involved) for mitigating the impact of high temperature on rice have been discussed. Finally, the utilization of genomic knowledge in augmenting the conventional breeding approaches have been comprehensively elaborated to develop heat tolerant germplasm.

The magnetic properties,magnetocaloric effect and magnetoresistance in Er Ni single crystal have been investigated in *** decreasing temperature,Er Ni single crystal undergoes two successive magnetic transitions:a paramagnetic to ferromagnetic transition at T_(C)=11 K and a spin-reorientation transition at TS_(r)=5 ***,a sharp field-induced metamagnetic transition is observed below the T_(C)along the a *** Ni single crystal possesses a giant magnetocaloric effect around T_(C).The maximum magnetic entropy change is-36.1 J(kg K)^(-1)along the a axis under the field change of 0-50 k *** particular,the rotating magnetocaloric effect in Er Ni single crystal reaches its maximum under a relatively low field,and the maximum rotating entropy change with a value of 9.3 J(kg K)^(-1)is obtained by rotating the applied field from the[011]to[100]directions under 13 k *** results suggest that Er Ni could be a promising candidate for magnetic refrigeration working at liquid-helium temperature ***,a complicated transport behavior is uncovered in Er Ni single crystal,which is attributed to the complex magnetic states and magnetic polaronic *** positive and negative magnetoresistance are observed.A considerable large magnetoresistance with the value of-34.5%is acquired at 8 K under50 k Oe when the field is along the[100]direction.

In traditional Nd-Fe-B-based sintered magnets,the composition,role of each element and microstruc-tures have been extensively investigated globally since they were invented in ***,the effects of boron(B)content and post-sinter annealing(PSA)on the microstructure and magnetic properties have been least studied so far and the relative mechanisms are not yet *** this paper,we investigated the influence of B on the magnetic performance and microstructure of Nd-Fe-B sintered magnets origi-nally containing copper(Cu),gallium(Ga)and titanium(Ti).It is shown that the intrinsic coercivity has a substantial increment of 2.86 kOe and the remanence has a slight reduction of 0.16 kGs when B content is reduced from 0.980 wt.%to 0.900 wt.%.Moreover,there is a coercivity increment of 27.3%and 65.3%for samples with 0.980 wt.%and 0.900 wt.%B content after PSA,*** is shown that the im-pacts of B content and PSA are significant and their regulation mechanisms are worthwhile to be studied ***,it is revealed by microstructural analysis that high coercivity of the sample with 0.900 wt.%B after PSA results from the uniform distribution of Ga,Cu,Nd,and the formation of rE 6(Fe,M)14(rE=Pr,Nd,M=Cu,Ga)compound in triple junction *** dilution of Fe content in grain boundary phases(GB phases)also plays an important *** is found out that decrease of the re-manence is mainly due to reduction of the matrix phase and c-axis alignment *** this study,we explored a new path to develop Nd-Fe-B-based sintered magnets with high comprehensive properties by novel approaches through varying B content,PSA technique and co-adding trace elements.

Objective:To document the clinical,biochemical and imaging phenotypes of immunocompetent patients with adrenal ***:The clinical,biochemical and radiologic data of 18 immunocompetent patients[age:45.00(39.25,56.25)years,median(IQr),m/f(16/2)]with adrenal histoplasmosis presenting in the Department of Endocrinology,BSMMU between 2014 and 2020 were retrospectively ***:All patients were seronegative for HIV infection,and 27.8%(5/18)had well controlled diabetes *** median duration of the symptoms was 6.00(IQr:4.00,11.25)*** had significant weight loss,anorexia and *** was present in 61.1%(11/18)patients and night sweat was present in 27.8%(5/18)*** and hyperpigmentation were present in 55.6%(10/18)and 66.7%(12/18)cases,*** of 18 patients presented with adrenal *** occurred in 55.6%(10/18)cases,but none had *** of 18 patients had adrenal insufficiency whereas 83.3%(15/18)had high adrenocorticotropic *** scan revealed bilateral adrenal enlargement in all cases with oval shape and regular *** were hypodense having radiodensity 21-90 hounsfield unit,and 11.1%(2/18)were heterogeneous in contrast *** had noticeable calcification whereas 1.1%(2/18)cases had central necrosis with peripheral rim *** was present in 6 cases,splenomegaly in 3 cases and 5 patients had abdominal *** were confirmed by positive fine needle aspiration cytology of adrenal ***:Adrenal histoplasmosis should be considered in the list of differentials of bilateral adrenomegaly in immunocompetent individuals even living in non-endemic areas.

Proactive Security Mechanism and Design for Firewall

In this paper we have present the architecture and module for internet firewall. The central component is fuzzy controller while properties of packets are fuzzified as inputs. On the basis of proposed fuzzy security algorithm, we have figured out security level of each packet and adjust according to packets dynamic states. Internet firewall can respond to these dynamics and take respective actions accordingly. Therefore, proactive firewall solves the conflict between speed and security by providing high performance and high security. Simulation shows that if the response value is in between 0.7 and 1 it belongs to high security.
