Background/Objectives:Many economies are on the trajectory of alternative growth drivers other than conventional capital and *** to credit facilities is a pertinent indicator of economic *** line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals(UNSDGs-8)agenda,the national goal for sustainable development for most economies and Arab economies is no ***,the current study adopts a traditional growth model by exploring the relationship between gross domestic product(GDP)per capita,credit for private sectors,ratio of exports,real GDP,and per labor force participants for selected Arab economies annually from 2001 to *** design:This study leverages the Fourier Kwiatkowski–Phillips–Schmidt–Shin(KPSS)unit root test and second-generation panel econometrics as estimation techniques,such as Westerlund and Edgerton panel cointegration test,and the use of two estimators,namely the augmented mean group(AMG)and common correlated error mean group(CCEMG),to obtain robust ***:Empirical findings from Westerlund and Edgerton panel cointegration tests validate the long-run equilibrium relationship among the outlined *** empirical results indicate that the share of exports is negatively significant with economic growth in countries such as Kuwait,Lebanon,Tunisia,and ***,savings and labor force participation have a positive relationship with economic growth in individual countries such as Algeria and *** per the panel,there is no significant relationship between labor force participation and economic *** indicates that the skilled labor force enhanced economic ***:These findings come with inherent far-reaching policy suggestions for economies and *** details on country-specific policy actions are presented in the concluding section.

Evaluation of the effect of using fiber reinforcement in tunnel linings for metro projects

Metro(subway)is an advanced public transport infrastructure system in urban areas with high *** traffic operation of a metro is not affected by other vehicle traffic thanks to underground *** these benefits metro lines are preferred to solve the traffic problem in urbanized cities such as Istanbul,which is the focus of this *** projects require huge amounts of budgets to be *** these projects into service in targeted time is of great *** objective of this study is to minimize total metro construction project time by utilizing fiber reinforcement in tunnel *** this research,using fiber reinforcement to construct primary(initial)tunnel linings and secondary(final)tunnel linings of the metro projects are analyzed in terms of project *** comparison of two railway tunnel projects,evaluations and observations of a completed metro project revealed that using fiber reinforcement for either the primary lining or the final lining of tunnels reduces construction time of metro station tunnels by 25%.In addition,using fiber reinforcement to construct both the final lining and the primary lining of tunnels reduces construction time of the metro station tunnels and the whole metro project by 47% and 22%,*** results of this study can be useful for completing challenging metro projects and putting it into service within the targeted time.

Preservation initiatives for the truncated pyramid-shaped traditional houses of Siirt, Turkey

The traditional houses of the residential areas in and around Siirt in the southeastern region of Turkey are notable because of their interesting forms. The most successful examples are the ＂truncated pyramidal-shaped houses＂ that have existed for centuries and are unique to the locality; however, these forms are demolished rapidly. In this study, the structures of small- scale settlements in Siirt province and its environs have been evaluated to highlight the cultural aspects of the region. The subject of this research is to investigate the design principles of the rural houses constructed in vernacular style to raise international awareness of the need to preserve vernacular architecture. Surviving examples have been examined in terms of multiple case approach by their forms, spatial compositions, changes in their forms over time, their layouts in urban and rural areas, the construction techniques used to produce them from material production through implementation, the composition of the living space and its uses, their differences or similarities to other houses in the region and their aesthetic details. The research reveals that the design principles of traditional rural architecture offer the use of local material and techniques in a unique way that promote highlights to the future.

Structural and Electrical Properties of Niobium Doped Y0.6Gd0.4Ba2-xNbxCu3O7-ySuperconductors

Polycrystalline samples of Y0.6Gd0.4Ba2-xNbxCu3O7-y(YGBNCO) with different Nb contents (x = 0.05, 0.10, 0.15, 0.20, and 0.25) were prepared using the usual solid state reaction technique. The structure for all samples was characterized by XRD and SEM. The electrical properties were measured by the FPP method in the temperature range from 70 to 130 K. The lattice constant of b remains almost unchanged and a and c increases with the increase of Nb content with x ≤ 0.10. The zero resistance transition temperature and Jc decrease with increasing Nb content. But superconductivity did not suppress. As the Nb content in the samples increases, it gives a diffused phase indicating a niobium perovskite phase and it is a small amount of unidentified phase.

Comparison between primary angioplasty and thrombolytic therapy on erectile dysfunction after acute ST elevation myocardial infarction

Acute ST elevation myocardial infarction has high mortality and morbidity rates. The majority of patients with this condition face erectile dysfunction in addition to other health problems. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effects of two different reperfusion strategies, primary angioplasty and thrombolytic therapy, on the prevalence of erectile dysfunction after acute myocardial infarction. Of the 71 patients matching the selection criteria, 45 were treated with primary coronary angioplasty with stenting, and 26 were treated with thrombolytic agents. Erectile function was evaluated using the International Index of Erectile Function in the hospital to characterize each patient＇s sexual function before the acute myocardial infarction and 6 months after the event. The time required to restore blood flow to the artery affected by the infarct was found to be associated with the occurrence of erectile dysfunction after acute myocardial infarction. The increase in the prevalence of erectile dysfunction after acute myocardial infarction was 44.4% in the angioplasty group and 76.9% in the thrombolytic therapy group （P= 0.008）. In conclusion, this study has shown that reducing the time of reperfusion decreases the erectile dysfunction prevalence, and primary angioplasty is superior to thrombolytic therapy for decreasing the prevalence of erectile dysfunction after acute myocardial infarction.

Evaluation of febrile neutropenic patients hospitalized in a hematology clinic

Objective:To evaluate the febrile neutropenic patients with hematological malignancies hospitalized in hematology clinic with poor hygiene ***:A total of 124 patients with hematological malignancies(69 male,55 female)hospitalized in hematology clinic with poor hygiene conditions depending on hospital conditions,between January 2007 and December 2010,were evaluated,***:In this study,250 febrile neutropenia episodes developing in 124 hospitalized patients were *** the patients,69 were men(56%)and 55 women(44%).A total of 40 patients(32%)had acute myeloid leukemia,25(20%)acute lymphoblastic leukemia,19(15%)non-Hodgkin's lymphoma,10(8%)multiple myeloma,and 8(8%)chronic myeloid *** our study,56 patients(22%)were diagnosed as pneumonia,38(15%)invasive aspergillosis,38(15%)sepsis,16(6%)typhlitis,9(4%)mucormycosis,and 4(2%)urinary tract ***-positive cocci were isolated from 52%(n=20),while Gram-negative bacilli 42%(n=16)and yeasts from 6%(n=2)of the sepsis patients,*** most frequently isolated Gram-positive bacteria were methicillin-resistant coagulase-negative staphylococci(n=18),while the most frequently isolated Gram-negative bacteria was Escherichia coli(n=10).Conclusions:Febrile neutropenia is still a problem in patients with hematological *** documentation of the flora and detection of causative agents of infections in each unit would help to decide appropriate empirical *** control procedures should be applied for preventing infections and transmissions.

Tuberculous Spondylitis: Clinical Features of 36 Patients

We report 36 cases of spinal tuberculosis who were evaluated at the Internal Medicine Department of Istanbul University between January 1990 and March 2016. Twelve cases were accompanied by active pulmonary tuberculosis while ten patients had a previous history of tuberculosis. Eight patients had diabetes mellitus;six patients were on chronic steroid treatment with a mean dose of 24 mg/day while two patients used azathioprine and methotrexate. The dominant symptom was back pain that was present in 64% of the subjects followed by low grade fever (42%), and malaise (38%). Lytic and destructive lesions were noted in various vertebrae in all of the cases while four patients had spinal compression, and two patients had iliopsoas abscess. The preliminary diagnosis was myeloproliferative disease with vertebral metastasis in eight patients. Tuberculin test was over 15 mm in 20 patients (58.8%) while ERS and Creactive protein were highly elevated in 78%, and 84% of the patients. Diagnosis of tuberculosis was confirmed by culture of aspirated material from intervertebral disc space, collection under CT guidance, sputum or bronchial lavage, and by retrospective anti-tuberculous treatment response. MRI revealed compatible findings with spinal tuberculosis in 30 (80%) patients. In endemic countries, tuberculous spondilitis should be considered in immunosuppressed patients with back pain. Current or past tuberculosis infection is not a reliable indicator for Pott’s disease in these patients. Laboratory findings were not usually useful to support the diagnosis. The low sensitivity of the tuberculin test may lead to an erronous diagnosis. Sensitivity of vertebral radiography and CT was low. MRI was the most useful radiologic investigation for the diagnosis of spinal tuberculosis. Tuberculosis of the spine is a diagnostic impasse notably in immunodeficient patients for the clinician.
