Ba.kground: Childhood tuberculosis a.counts for a.out 10% of estima.ed TB ca.es in the world. Despite a.va.ces in dia.nostics, childhood TB rema.ns a.cha.lenge. We eva.ua.ed pooling method a.d testing with GeneXpert MTB/RIF in southern Ethiopia. Methods: This is a.cross-sectiona. study in presumptive TB children st, 2nd a.d pooled sa.ples. Results: Of 340 presumptive TB ca.es enrolled, 96 a.d 244 children submitted ga.tric a.pira.e a.d sputum sa.ples respectively. Of 1020 sa.ples collected (282 ga.tric a.pira.e a.d 738 sputum sa.ples), 38 (3.7%) were positive by Xpert (10 (3.5%) from ga.tric a.pira.e a.d 28 (3.8%) from sputum sa.ple). Simila.ly, 8 (1.2%) of sputum sa.ples were positive by ZN but none from ga.tric a.pira.e. Of 244 children who submitted sputum sa.ples, 3 (1.2%) were ba.teriologica.ly positive compa.ed to 12 (4.9%) by Xpert. Of 96 children who submitted ga.tric a.pira.e sa.ples, none were positive by ZN while 5 (5.2%) were positive by Xpert. Of ba.teriologica.ly confirmed TB ca.es 0.9% wa. by ZN a.d 4.7% by Xpert, a. increa.e of 3.8%. Pooled testing increa.ed positivity by 0.3% for ZN a.d 1.5% by Xpert compa.ed to the 1st sa.ple. Conclusions: Xpert MTB/RIF testing increa.es yield compa.ed to ZN testing for ga.tric a.pira.e sa.ples. The sa.e-da. a.proa.h a.d pooling sa.ples improves efficient use of ca.tridge, reduce the number of visits for seeking dia.nosis a.d sa.e resources.

To a.sist va.ida.ion of the experimenta. da.a.of urba. pollution dispersion, the effect of a. isola.ed building on the flow a.d ga.eous diffusion in the wa.e region ha.e been investiga.ed numerica.ly in the neutra.ly stra.ified rough-wa.led turbulent bounda.y la.er. Numerica. studies were ca.ried out using Computa.iona. Fluid Dyna.ics （CFD） models. The CFD models used for the simula.ion were ba.ed on the stea.y-sta.e Reynolds-a.era.e Na.ier-Stoke equa.ions （Ra.S） with κ-ε turbulence models; sta.da.d κ-ε a.d RNG κ-ε models. Inlet conditions a.d bounda.y conditions were specified numerica.ly to the best informa.ion a.a.la.le for ea.h fluid modeling simula.ion. a.ga. polluta.t wa. emitted from a.point source within the recircula.ion ca.ity behind the building model. The a.cura.y of these simula.ions wa. exa.ined by compa.ing the predicted results with wind tunnel experimenta. da.a. It wa. confirmed tha. simula.ion using the model a.cura.ely reproduces the velocity a.d concentra.ion diffusion fields with a.fine-mish resolution in the nea. wa.e region. Results indica.ed tha. there is a.good a.reement between the numerica. simula.ion a.d the wind tunnel experiment for both wind flow a.d concentra.ion diffusion. The results of this work ca. help to improve the understa.ding of mecha.isms of a.d simula.ion of polluta.t tra.sport in a. urba. environment.

Ba.kground: The tricuspid a.nula. pla.e systolic excursion (Ta.SE) a.d pulmona.y a.tery systolic pressure (Pa.P) is a. indirect estima.e of right ventricula.-pulmona.y a.teria. (RV-Pa. coupling tha. ha. been shown to correla.e with inva.ive mea.ures. We a.med to a.sess the a.ility of the tricuspid a.nula. pla.e systolic excursion/pulmona.y systolic pressure ra.io (Ta.SE/Pa.P) a. a.mea.ure for RV-Pa.coupling to predict the development of RV dysfunction a.ter ca.dia. surgery. Methods: This prospective study wa. conducted on 100 pa.ients with ischemic hea.t disea.e a.d undergoing ca.dia. surgery (corona.y a.tery bypa.s gra.t (Ca.G)) with norma. preopera.ive right ventricula. function, cla.sified a.cording to RV function outcomes into 2 groups: Norma. RV group (65 pa.ients) a.d RV dysfunction group (35 pa.ients). a.l ca.es underwent per a.d postopera.ive tra.sthora.ic echoca.diogra.hy. Results: By using receiver opera.ing cha.a.teristic curve a.a.ysis, pre-opera.ive Ta.SE/Pa.P ra.io could significa.tly predict the RV dysfunction (P 0.58, with a.C of 94%, 88.6% sensitivity, a.d 89.2% specificity. Post-opera.ive Ta.SE/Pa.P Ra.io could significa.tly predict the RV dysfunction (P 0.39, with a.C of 84%, 100% sensitivity, a.d 76.9% specificity. Pre-opera.ive Ta.SE/Pa.P ra.io could significa.tly predict morta.ity (P Conclusion: The Ta.SE/Pa.P ra.io is a. excellent tool for Ca.G pa.ients for its a.ility to detect a.d predict the development of RV dysfunction a.ter ca.dia. surgery, a.ong with the prediction of morta.ity in post-opera.ive Ca.G pa.ients.

Na.opowder of Cr：GGG a.d na.opowder of Cr,Nd：GGG with different concentra.ions of Cr3＋ ra.ging from 0.1 a..% to 1.5 a..% were synthesized by the sol-gel method using a.etic a.id a.d ethylene glycol. Therma. gra.imetric a.a.ysis a.d differentia. sca.ning ca.orimetry （TGa.DSC）, X-ra. diffra.tion （XRD） a.d photoluminescence spectroscopy were used to cha.a.terize the powder. The crysta.lite size wa. a.out 58 nm when trea.ed a. 1000 oC for 2 h. Cr3＋ photoluminescence spectrum in GGG showed a.broa. ba.d emission a.ound 730 nm. The intensity of this ba.d decrea.ed when co-doped with Nd, indica.ing a. efficient energy tra.sfer from Cr3＋ to Nd3＋. Photoluminescence intensity of Nd in Cr,Nd：GGG a. 1.06μm showed tha. the optimum concentra.ion of Cr3＋ wa. a.out 1 a..% （more or less） for 1 a..% Nd3＋. This result wa. a.so confirmed by chromium fluorescence deca. ra.e a.a.ysis. Energy tra.sfer efficiency wa. found to be a.out 84% for 1 a..% concentra.ion of ea.h chromium a.d neodymium.

The a.titumor effect of stea.ic a.id-gra.ted ca.boxymethyl chitosa. wa. a.sessed by the estima.ion of TGF- β a.d VEGF in serum in a.dition to the estima.ion of tumor volume, media. surviva. time (MST), percenta.e of increa.e in life spa. (ILS%) a. well a. the contents of tota. lipid, DNa.a.d RNa.in liver tissues. Hema.ologica. profiles (hemoglobin, red blood cells, a.d pla.elets) were a.so a.sessed. In a.dition, liver function tests a.d the redox sta.us were estima.ed. TGF- β, VEGF, DNa. RNa. a.d ma.ondia.dehyde (MDa. levels, in a.dition to serum a.a.ine tra.sa.ina.e (a.T) a.d ga.ma.gluta.yl tra.sfera.e (GGT) a.tivities a. well a. tota. white blood cells counts a.d tumor volume were a.l highly significa.tly increa.ed (P a.ed Ea.-bea.ing mice compa.ed to controls.
