Comparison of artificial neural networks with empirical correlations for estimating the average cycle time in conical spouted beds

Conventional spouted beds have been extensively used in many real-life applications but are not suited for all types of materials, especially fine particles, which require internal devices to improve their motion in the spouted bed. However, unlike conventional spouted beds, there are almost no mechanistic or empirical models available for the design of spouted beds with internals. Given the availability of an extensive but not experimentally designed database, the main purpose of this study is to present an analysis of neural networks and empirical models in terms of their suitability to fit and predict average cycle times in conical spouted beds with and without draft tubes. The parameters investigated are particle size, density, contactor angle, gas inlet diameter, static bed height, and draft tube features. although the amount of information is always a key factor when fitting models, the size of the database used in this study strongly affects the fitting performance of empirical models, whereas artificial neural networks are more influenced by how the data are scaled. Results of model verification show that both techniques are suitable for predicting average cycle times for data outside the range covered by the database.

The role of niobium in nickel-based superalloys is reviewed. The importance of niobium as a strengthener is discussed. New developments in nickel-based superalloys are also briefly mentioned, including some results that show improved resistance to sulfidation by niobium. Research results from a current program on the role of niobium in the Russian powder metallurgy alloy EP741NP are presented. Future research plans on the role of niobium in superalloys are also discussed.

Thermodynamic assessment of Ti-Co-Cu ternary system has been carried out by combining first-principle calculation and CalPHAD method. Firstly, formation enthalpies of stable and hypothesized compounds were calculated by first-principles method. Then, based on reported experimental information, a thermodynamic description of the Ti-Co-Cu ternary system was performed. Solution phases were treated as substitutional solutions of which excess Gibbs energies were formulated by Redlich-Kister polynomial, and the intermediate phases were described with sublattice models. all measured isothermal sections were reasonably reproduced. In addition, liquidus projection of this ternary system was further calculated, which may be useful for relevant materials processing.

Objective:To explore the anticoagulant,antiplatelet and antioxidant activities of protein extract of kenaf seed(PEKS).Methods:Sodium dodecyl sulphate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatography techniques were employed for protein *** activity of PEKS was assessed using 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH)*** protective effect of PEKS on sodium nitrite(NaNO2)induced oxidative stress was evaluated using the in vitro red blood cell model,while the effect of PEKS on diclofenacinduced oxidative stress was examined in vivo in ***-rich plasma and platelet-poor plasma were used for anticoagulant and antiplatelet activities of ***:PEKS revealed similar protein bands on SDS-PAGE under reduced and non-reduced *** acidic proteins were present in native *** showed antioxidant properties by scavenging DPPH with an IC50 of 24.58μ*** exhibited a protective effect on NaNO2 induced oxidative stress in red blood cells by restoring the activity of stress *** addition,PEKS alleviated diclofenac-induced tissue damage of the liver,kidney,and small *** showed an anticoagulant effect in both in vivo and in vitro experiments by enhancing normal clotting *** did not affect prothrombin time but increase activated partial thromboplastin ***,PEKS inhibited adenosine diphosphate and epinephrine-induced platelet ***:PEKS protects tissues from oxidative stress and exhibits antithrombotic activity.

The chemical oscillating reactions in KMnO4-NH2CH2COOH-H3PO CSTR system in the presence and absence of Ag+ have been *** reaction conditions and phase diagrams have been determined. Some effects on the oscillation have then studied. The stabilization of colloidal particles of MnO2 by PO43-has been investigated. The roles of Ag+ in the above reactions have also been studied.

The worldwide distribution and extensive genetic diversity of the whitefly,Bemisia tabaci,has long been ***,the levels of separation within *** and the nomenclature of the various genetic groups have been a subject of *** phylogenetic analyses indicate that *** is a complex composed of 28 morphologically indistinguishable *** this article,we first review the debate and difficulties associated with ***＇s taxonomy and systematics,and argue for the need to apply the biological species concept in order to elucidate ***＇s *** summarize the accumulated genetic and behavioural data on reproductive incompatibilities evident amongst phylogenetic mtCOI groups of *** studies have been conducted with 14 of the 28 putative species covering 54 reciprocal inter-species pairs,and observations on mating behaviour have been conducted for seven species *** from both crossing trials and behavioural observations indicate a consistent pattern of reproductive isolation among the putative *** then discuss the technical and conceptual complexities associated with crossing experiments and behavioural observations designed to reveal reproductive ***,we elaborate on a strategy for further clarifying the pattern of reproductive isolation between *** groups and propose future research directions on the systematics of this complex.

The adaptive remeshing technique for quadrilateral elements consists of modules thetrigger of remeshing, the new mesh generation, adaptive refinement and interpolationof field variables. The new adaptive mesh genemtion is the key problem. First, acoarse mesh is created by using 'loop algorithm'. Subsequent local mesh adaptiverefinement is performed based on effective strain. Finally, a typical example of upset-ting is given to test efficient of techniques, from which it is verified that the remeshingalgorithm developed here exhibits good performance and has high accuracy.
