Metal-free organic molecules with structurally diverse aggregation-induced emission(AIE)behavior and new functional photophysical properties reveal unique structure-property relationships,especially bright luminescence,and have attracted extensive attention in the past few *** tremendous progress on fluorescent molecules development,the extended π-conjugated organic AIE probes with their nanorange self-assembly,coassembly,unique morphology,high biocompatibility,and light-harvesting capabilities enable them as potential candidates in numerous translational application *** particular,a few important classes of AIE light up small molecules,supramolecules,oligomers,polymers,including nanoparticles and photosensitizer molecules,with their emerging properties of thermally activated delayed fluorescence,room temperature phosphorescence,including emission switching stimuli-responsive behavior and multifunctional properties,have been boosted by the rare features of aggregation at their condensed or solid *** review highlights salient features of AIE-based emitters,encompassing molecular design strategies,stimulating photophysical properties,mechanistic aspects,and their efficacy in various electronic and biomedical applications,broadly covering properties of small molecules to oligomers,macromolecules to polymers.

The seasonal abundance of flagellates has been monitored over a period of 1 year from December 2013 to November 2014(divided into 4 conjugative seasons namely winter,spring,summer,and autumn)in an experimental pond located in Rajshahi City Corporation area,*** our knowledge,this study is the fi rst to shed light on the occurrence and possible interrelationships among heterotrophic flagellates(HF),bacteria and zooplankton in Bangladesh and the result obtained by this study will be beneficial for similar water ecosystem all over the *** methods were used to determine the prescribed hydrological parameters and zooplankton cell *** HF abundance(14 346.00 cells/mL)was found in the spring and the minimum(5 215.00 cells/mL)occurred in the *** to HF,significantly(P<0.05)higher zooplankton abundance was found during the winter(782.00±47.62 cells/mL)and the lowest value was found in the autumn(448.00±39.15 cells/mL).Whereas similar to the HF,total bacterial abundance was significantly higher during the spring((2.25±1.05)×10^5 cells/mL)and lower in the summer((0.79±0.06)×10^5 cells/mL).Multivariate analyses(ANOSIM and MDS)have shown significant seasonal differences for cell numbers where MDS ordination plot and cluster analysis based on similarity in the genera abundance of HF revealed overlapping condition between winter and *** correspondence analysis(CCA)also showed a distinct separation among the genera based on the prevailing hydrological situation and indicated that temperature,pH,BOD5,and NO3^-were the most important environmental variables in determining the observed variation in HF community *** the biological factors,zooplankton showed negative but total bacteria were positively correlated with HF abundance.

A mass-balanced Ecopath model presents a quantitative description of the trophic structure,fl ow of energy and trophic interaction among ecological groups of an *** Ecopath with Ecosim(EwE)modeling program(Version 6.5)was used to develop a preliminary trophic model for a tropical freshwater *** total fi sh biomass was 6.245 t/km 2 and the highest trophic level of the reservoir was 3.362(for snakehead).The ecosystem is phytoplankton based because primary producers originated 68%and detritus originated 32%of the total fl ow from lower trophic *** gross effi ciency of the fi shery was 0.004,suggesting the ineffi ciency of the *** positive eff ect of phytoplankton and detritus on most of the other groups were evident from mixed trophic analysis while moderately higher ecotrophic effi ciency(EE)of phytoplankton shows the ecosystem’s potential bottom-up *** competition for the same resources among diff erent groups was also *** ratio of primary production/respiration(1.969)suggests that the ecosystem is at the developing stage and utmost contemplation should be given to concerned human *** low value of relative ascendancy(30.13)and overhead(69.87)reveals the stability of the ecosystem and some degrees of *** also predicts the presence of signifi cant strength in reserve of the system to withstand or overcome any ***,ecologically sustainable resource management plans should be implemented to ensure the sustainability of this reservoir resources.

Advanced liver cirrhosis has become life-threatening among non-communicable diseases ***,the terminal stage of liver diseases in which the liver develops scarring as a result of various long-term continuous *** liver diseases,viral hepatitis is the major risk factor for chronic cirrhosis *** present paper demonstrates a compartmental model of chronic disease liver cirrhosis describing the transmission dynamics of this *** the Pontryagin’s maximum principle,the optimal control policies such as vaccination for hepatitis B virus and treatment of other causes of cirrhosis are adopted as control *** target of this study is to minimize the number of infected and liver cirrhotic individuals as well as the associated cost of the *** this purpose,the optimal control strategies are employed according to the underlying causes behind this *** goal is to find the strategy of preventing hepatitis B infection which is considered one of the leading causes of cirrhosis and consequently,reduction of the chronic cirrhosis *** analysis is also performed to observe the effective control among the two control *** model is investigated both analytically and numerically and the numerical simulations are carried out to illustrate the analytical *** analysis reveals that both the vaccination and treatment could be the most fruitful way to reduce the incidence of chronic liver cirrhosis.

Diabetes is a metabolic illness defined by hyperglycemia that affects 10% of the world’s population. Diabetic complications such as blindness, kidney failure, and heart failure can develop if left untreated and are made worse by oxidative stress. Oxidative stress contributes to the rise of diabetic complications, particularly type-2 diabetes. In the blood vessels of diabetic individuals, it causes endothelial dysfunction. Diabetes is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Nowadays, it is alarming that the number of diabetic patients is increasing dramatically. There are plenty of anti-diabetic drugs available on the market, but they possess several adverse effects and do not completely cure diabetes. It has now become a financial burden on patients, their families, and society as well. Medicinal plants have gained popularity in developed and developing countries over the last two decades because of their vast natural sources and lack of harmful effects compared to modern allopathic medications. According to the World Health Organization, traditional medicines, which are mostly manufactured from plants, are still used by 80% of the population in developing countries for the management and curing of diseases. This review includes 81 Bangladeshi medicinal plants from 51 different families that can be used to treat diabetes and oxidative stress. Among them, Psidium guajava (L.), Aloe vera, Catharanthus roseus, Allium sativum, Annona squamosa, Cinnamon zeylaniucm, Amaranthus esculentus, Eugenia jambolana, Azadirachta indica, Moringa oleifera, Spondias pinnata, Coccinia grandis (L.), Momordica charantia L., Heretiera fomes, Trigonella foenum-graecum were most potent. Background: Antisense peptide nucleic acids (PNAs) exhibit growth inhibitory effects on bacteria by inhibiting the expression of essential genes and could be promising therapeutic agents for treating bacterial infections. A study was carried out to determine the efficacy of several antisense PNAs in inhibiting extracellular and intracellular growth of Mycobacterium smegmatis. Methods: Six PNAs obtained from a commercial supplier were tested to evaluate the inhibitory effect on bacterial growth by inhibiting the expression of the following essential genes: inhA (a fatty acid elongase), rpsL (ribosomal S12 protein), gyrA (DNA gyrase), pncA (pyrazinamidase), polA (DNA polymerase I) and rpoC (RNA polymerase β subunit) of M. smegmatis. Each PNA was tested at 20 μM, 10 μM, 5 μM and 2.5 μM concentrations to determine whether they caused a dose dependent killing of M. smegmatis cultured in Middlebrook 7H9 broth or in a J774A.1 murine macrophage cell line. Results: In Middlebrook broth, the strong growth inhibitory effect against M. smegmatis was observed by PNAs targeting the inhA and rpsL genes at all four concentrations. The PNAs targeting the pncA, polA and rpoC genes were found to exhibit strong growth inhibition against M. smegmatis but only at 20 μM concentration. No growth inhibition of M. smegmatis was seen in pure culture when treated with PNAs targeting gyrA and a mismatch PNA targeting dnaG (DNA primase). All six PNAs showed killing of M. smegmatis in J774A.1 macrophage cell line that were statistically significant (p Conclusion: It may be concluded from this study that PNAs could be potential therapeutics for mycobacterial infections.

Efficacy of Some Botanical Extracts on the Control of Late Blight Disease in Experimental Potato Field

Late blight caused by Phytophthora infestans (Mont.) De Bary is the most devastating disease of potato. This study was carried out to evaluate the efficacy of ten botanical extracts against the late blight disease incidence and severity in experimental potato field at University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh during 2019-2020. Crude aqueous extract of leaves of Syzygium cumini, Psidium guajava, Eucalyptus globusus, Carica papaya and Lawsonia inermis;fruits of Terminalia bellirica, T. chebula and Piper nigrum;flower buds of Syzygium aromaticum and cloves of Allium sativum were used at 5% (w/v) concentration for evaluation. Out of ten botanicals, Syzygium cumini leaves extract was found most effective in controlling the late blight disease incidence and severity up to 66 DAS (days after sowing) and increased the potato yield by 71.29% compare to untreated control. The efficacy of Lawsonia inermis extract against late blight disease was found promising and increased the potato yield by 48.51%. Other four botanical extracts (Terminalia chebula, Piper nigrum, Syzygium aromaticum and Carica papaya) showed moderate efficacy against the incidence and severity of late blight disease, and increased 30% more potato yield compare to control. These results suggest that botanical extract of Syzygium cumini has a great potential as an alternative of chemical fungicides to control the late blight disease of potato in eco-friendly way.

Comparative Study of Structural, Optical and Electrical Properties of SnO<sub>2</sub>Thin Film Growth via CBD, Drop-Cast and Dip-Coating Methods

Tin oxide (SnO2) thin films were deposited on glass substrate by Chemical Bath Deposition (CBD), Drop-Cast and Dip-Coating method. The thin films were post-annealed at 500°C for 2 hours. The structural, optical, and electrical properties of the SnO2 thin films were investigated by using XRD, FTIR, SEM, EDX, UV-Vis spectroscopy, and Electrometer experiment. The XRD patterns of SnO2 thin films deposited on glass substrate by CBD method, Drop-Cast method and Dip-Coating method showed cubic, tetragonal and amorphous structures respectively. The FTIR spectrum exhibited the strong presence of SnO2 with the characteristic vibrational mode of Sn-O-Sn. The SEM analysis was observed that the surface morphology of the thin films toughly depends on the deposition methods of the SnO2 thin films. EDX measurement confirmed that the thin films are the composition of Tin (Sn) and Oxygen (O2). The optical band gap of SnO2 thin films deposited by CBD method, Drop-Cast method and Dip-Coating method is found to be 3.12 eV, 3.14 eV and 3.16 eV respectively. Thin films deposited by Dip-Coating method showed the highest band gap. The electrical results confirmed that the SnO2 thin films are good conductors and pursued Ohm’s Law. These properties of the SnO2 thin films brand are appropriate for application in solar cell assembly, gas sensor devices and transparent electrodes of panel displays.

Organic Amendments with Chemical Fertilizers Improve Soil Fertility and Microbial Biomass in Rice-Rice-Rice Triple Crops Cropping Systems

Medium-term changes in the labile nutrient pool of microbial biomass carbon (MBC) and nitrogen (MBN) resulting from organic manure application in rice (Oryza sativa L.)-based triple cropping systems have been poorly studied. Therefore, the effects of organic materials on the soil physico-chemical properties and microbial biomass in rice fields were investigated at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, Bangladesh, from April 2010 to December 2012. Five treatments (control, cow dung, poultry manure, rice straw, and chemical fertilizer) were laid out in a randomized complete block design with four replications. The organic residues (2 t C ha-1) were applied 7 days before transplanting and were combined with inorganic fertilizers, following integrated plant nutrition systems. This paper presents the results from the last of the five consecutive rice growing seasons. All of the organic residues increased the pH, and organic C, N, P, and K contents of the soil. However, poultry manure was more efficient in increasing soil fertility than cow dung and rice straw, resulting in a significant increase in P from 22 mg·kg-1 to 63 mg·kg-1 at crop harvest. All of the organic residues also increased the soil water holding capacity and decreased bulk density. Furthermore, poultry manure resulted in significantly higher microbial biomass C (432 mg·kg-1;P < 0.05) and N (31.60 mg·kg-1;P < 0.05) levels in the soil at crop harvest, followed by cow dung and rice straw. These findings indicate that the regular application of organic residues and manures will help to enhance soil fertility and production sustainability.
