BACKGROUND Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)is a global pandemic that can cause diarrhoea,nausea/vomiting,and abdominal pain,among other gastrointestinal(GI)*** To perform a bibliometric analysis of the global research production pertaining to GI involvement in *** The Scopus database was used to search the global literature on GI involvement in COVID-19 during 2020.A bibliometric review of these publications was also performed using *** Scopus had published 95615 documents on COVID-19 in all areas of research at the time of data *** total,1267 publications on the topic of GI and COVID-19 were *** articles(n=606;47.83%),letters(293;23.13%),and reviews(186;14.68%)were the most popular types of *** most productive countries and institutions in this field were the United States and Huazhong University of Science and *** most cited paper was Xiao et al,which was published in Gastroenterology as a brief communication,with 798 *** paper provides evidence for GI infection of COVID-19 and its possible faecal–oral transmission *** the term cluster analysis,there were two frontiers in this field:GI manifestations among COVID-19 patients and the implications of COVID-19 for the *** GI manifestations among COVID-19 patients and implications of COVID-19 for gastroenterologists were of interest,especially in the early stages of the pandemic.

BACKGROUND Nutrition is a significant modifiable element that influences the composition of the gastrointestinal microbiota,implying the possibility of therapeutic diet methods that manipulate the composition and diversity of the *** To overview research papers on nutrition and gut microbiota and determines the hotspots in this field at the global *** Scopus and Reference Citation Analysis were used to construct a bibliometric *** was decided to create bibliometric indicators and mapping as in most previous studies.2012 through 2021 served as the study's *** A total of 5378 documents from the Scopus database were selected for *** all retrieved studies,78.52%were research papers(n=4223),followed by reviews(n=820;15.25%).China ranked first with a total number of articles of 1634(30.38%),followed by the United States in second place with a total number of articles of 1307(24.3%).In the last decade,emerging hotspots for gut microbiota and nutrition research included"gut microbiota metabolism and interaction with dietary components","connection between the gut microbiota and weight gain",and"the influence of high-fat diet and gut microbiota on metabolic disorders".CONCLUSION This is the first thorough bibliometric analysis of nutrition and gut microbiota publications conducted on a global *** of the association between nutrition/diet and the gut microbiota is still in its infancy and will be expanded in the ***,according to recent trends,the"effect of gut microbiota and high-fat diet on metabolic disorders"will be an increasing concern in the future.

BACKGROUND One of the most popular bariatric procedures is sleeve gastrectomy,and it has become significantly more common in recent *** To evaluate the research activity in sleeve gastrectomy over the last two decades,and to visualize the hot spots and emerging trends in this type of bariatric surgeryusing bibliometric *** The Scopus database was used to search for publications related to sleeve *** retrieved publications were reviewed in terms of year of publication,type of study,country of origin,institutions,journals,and citation patterns by using descriptive *** network and term cooccurrence analysis were visualized by using VOSviewer *** The search strategy yielded a total of 6508 publications on sleeve gastrectomy from 2001 to *** regards the document type,the majority were articles(n=5230;80.36%),followed by reviews(n=544;8.36%).The top three countries are the United States,with 1983 publications(30.47%),followed by France(600;9.22%)and Italy(417;6.71%).The most cited publication was published in 2012 by Schauer et al in the New England Journal of Medicine(n=1435 citations).This publication found that weight loss was greater in the sleeve gastrectomy group than in the medical therapy ***,this study demonstrated that 12 mo of medical therapy plus bariatric surgery greatly improved glycemic regulation in obese patients with uncontrolled type 2 diabetes compared with medical therapy *** focus of the current literature on sleeve gastrectomy was directed toward several themes such as morbidity and potential complications,the complexity of the procedure and different surgical approaches,and diabetes and body mass index in correlation to sleeve *** The number of sleeve gastrectomy publications has gradually grown over the last 20 *** bibliometric analysis could help researchers better understand the knowledge base and research frontiers surrounding sleeve

The purpose of this study is to explore Jordanian nurses’ knowledge and attitudes regarding pain assessment, and barriers to intervention at different hospitals representing health care sectors in Jordan. A descriptive cross-sectional design was used in this study utilizing self-administered questionnaires to collect data from nurses working in public, University-affiliated, and private hospitals located on the north, mid, and south of Jordan using Nurses’ Knowledge and Attitudes Survey Regarding Pain, (n = 439). The mean of total correct answers on the 32 knowledge questions was 13.39 (SD = 4.31). Nurse-related barriers to effective pain management include patient history of alcohol abuse or drug addiction, and nursing staff reluctant to contact physician for analgesic order. Nurses working in surgical units, employed at private hospitals, holding a master degree, or who attended educational course or program scored significantly higher than other nurses. The results demonstrated knowledge deficit and attitude and that nurses underestimated and undertreated patients’ pain. Serious efforts should be taken in nursing schools and hospitals to prepare nurses and equip them with comprehensive knowledge tools to assess and manage pain appropriately.

Evaluation of the Knowledge and Perceptions of Patients towards Generic Medicines in UAE

Objectives: The objective of this study was to evaluate the knowledge and perceptions of patients towards generic medicines in some Emirates of the United Arab Emirates. Methods: A cross-sectional survey involving patients in three Emirates was undertaken. A 23-item questionnaire was designed, pre-validated and administered. Results: The questionnaire was fully answered by 96 patients out of 120 producing a response rate of 80%. The majority of patients were young Arab females with a university degree. Slightly less than 50% of patients were having a monthly income of less than ED 10,000. Results of the patient’s survey indicate that they have poor knowledge and perception of generic medicines. They did not know the meaning of generic or brand medicines and this negatively influenced their responses to consequent questions. Conclusion: Patients’ knowledge and perception of generic drugs were poor. Efforts are needed to increase public awareness of generic drugs and possible brand substitution. Both the prescribing physician and the dispensing pharmacists have an essential role to play in educating their patients of generic drugs.

Background: Bleb related inflammation following trabeculectomy is usually seen in the late post operative period and is unusual in the first 6 months after su rgery We report the clinical findings and course of two patients with early bleb related inflammation secondary to retained cellulose sponge fragments used to a pply mitomycin C on the scleral surface. Methods: Retrospective review of medica l records of two patients and pathology from one patient. Results: Both patients developed bleb related inflammation four months after a combined fornix based t rabeculectomy and cataract procedure in which mitomycin C was applied using filt er paper discs (Whatman filter paper #1). Material suggestive of cellulose frag ments was noted in the filtering bleb in both patients. Patient 1 had a bleb lea k at time of presentation and pathologic examination of foreign body material ob tained from the site of the leak demonstrated a granulomatous reaction surroundi ng cellulose fibers. The foreign body material was removed in both patients. Thi s led to resolution of the bleb leak in the first patient and at one year follow ing the procedure both patients had functioning blebs in the affected eye. Concl usions: Retention of sponge fragments is rare but may be a cause of bleb inflamm ation as a result of a foreign body granulomatous reaction. The choice of sponge material that does not shred may help in avoiding this unusual complication.
