Humic acid(HA)can adsorb onto mineral surfaces,modifying the physicochemical properties of the ***,understanding the sorption behavior of HA onto mineral surfaces is of particular interest,since the fate and transport of many organic and inorganic contaminants are highly correlated to HA adsorbed onto clay *** to the extreme heterogeneity of HA,the extracted IHSS Leonardite humic acid(LHA)used in this work was fractionated using an ultrafiltration technique(UF)into different molecular size fractions(Fr1,>0.2μm;Fr2,0.2 pm-300,000 daltons;Fr3,300,000-50,000 daltons;Fr4,50,000-10,000 daltons;Fr5,10,000-1000 daltons).equilibrium and the kinetics of LHA and fraction adsorption onto kaolinite and montmorillonite were *** results demonstrated that the maximum adsorption capacity of LHA,Frl,Fr2,Fr3,Fr4,and Fr5 was 5.99,13.69,10.29,7.02,5.9&and 5.09 on kaolinite while it was 8.29,22.62,13.17,8.91,8.62,and 5.69 on montmorillonite,*** adsorption equilibrium data showed that the adsorption behavior of LHA and its fractions could be described more practically by the Langmuir model than the Freundlich *** rate of humic acid fraction adsorption onto clays increased with decreasing molecular size fraction and increasing carboxylic group ***-first-and second-order models were used to assess the kinetic data and the rate *** results explained that LHA and its fractions adsorption on clay minerals conformed more to pseudosecondo rder.

AIM: To assess the practice of egyptian physicians in screening patients for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC). MeTHODS: The study included 154 physicians from all over egypt caring for patients at risk for HCC. The study was based on a questionnaire with 20 items. each questionnaire consisted of two parts:(1) personal information regarding the physician(name, age, specialty and type of health care setting); and(2) professional experience in the care of patients at risk for HCC development(screening, knowledge about the cause and natural course of liver diseases and HCC risk). ReSULTS: Sixty-eight percent of doctors with an MD degree, 48% of doctors with a master degree or a diploma and 40% of doctors with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery certificate considered the hepatitis C virus(HCV) genotype as risk factor for HCC development(P ety percent of physicians specialized in tropical medicine, internal medicine or gastroenterology and 67% of physicians in other specialties advise patients to undergo screening for HCV and hepatitis B virus infection as well as liver cirrhosis(P eighty-six percent of doctors in University Hospitals and 69% of Ministry of Health(MOH) doctors consider HCV infection as the leading cause of HCC in egypt(P eventy-two percent of doctors with an MD degree, 55% of doctors with a master degree or a diploma, 56% of doctors with an MBBCH certificate, 74% of doctors in University Hospitals and 46% of MOH hospital doctors consider abdominal ultrasonography as the most important investigation in HCC screening(P e percent of physicians in tropical medicine, internal medicine or gastroenterology and 37% of physicians in other specialties recommend as HCC screening interval of 3 mo(P eventy-one percent of doctors with an MD degree, 50% of doctors with a master degree or diploma and 60% of doctors with an MBBCH certificate follow the same ***: In egypt, physicians spe

High-quality medical microscopic images used for diseases detection are expensive and difficult to ***,low-resolution images are favorable due to their low storage space and ease of sharing,where the images can be enlarged when needed using Super-Resolution(SR)***,it is important to maintain the shape and size of the medical images while enlarging *** of the problems facing SR is that the performance of medical image diagnosis is very poor due to the deterioration of the reconstructed image ***,this paper suggests a multi-SR and classification framework based on Generative Adversarial Network(GAN)to generate high-resolution images with higher quality and finer details to reduce *** proposed framework comprises five GAN models:enhanced SR Generative Adversarial Networks(eSRGAN),enhanced deep SR GAN(eDSRGAN),Sub-Pixel-GAN,SRGAN,and efficient Wider Activation-B GAN(WDSR-b-GAN).To train the proposed models,we have employed images from the famous BreakHis dataset and enlarged them by 4×and 16×upscale factors with the ground truth of the size of 256×256×***,several evaluation metrics like Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio(PSNR),Mean Squared error(MSe),Structural Similarity Index(SSIM),Multiscale Structural Similarity Index(MS-SSIM),and histogram are applied to make comprehensive and objective comparisons to determine the best methods in terms of efficiency,training time,and storage *** obtained results reveal the superiority of the proposed models over traditional and benchmark models in terms of color and texture restoration and detection by achieving an accuracy of 99.7433%.

New series of benzothiazole derivatives were designed and synthesized. The newly synthesized compounds were screened for their antibacterial activity against escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus cereus. Compounds 6j and 6o showed the highest activity against e. coli and S. aureus. The antifungal activity of these compounds was also tested against Candida albicans and Aspergillus fumigatus293. Compounds 4c, 4g and 6j exhibited the highest activity against C. albicans. In addition, compounds4 a and 6j displayed promising activity against A. fumigatus 293. The same compounds were examined for their antiquorum-sensing activity against Chromobacterium violaceum ATCC 12472, whereas compounds4 a, 6j and 6p showed moderate activity. The in vitro cytotoxicity testing of the synthesized compounds was performed against cervical cancer（Hela） and kidney fibroblast cancer（COS-7） cell lines. Results indicated that all tested compounds have IC50 values 〉50 mmol/L against both cell lines. Molecular properties, toxicities, drug-likeness, and drug score profiles of compounds 4a–c, 5a, 6g,h, 6j, 6l, 6o and7 c,d were also assessed.

BACKGROUND Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis-related cirrhosis is one of the liver complications in type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)and reported to be a risk factor for developing hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).A reliable screening biomarker of liver cirrhosis(LC)and HCC among T2DM patients is important to reduce the morbidity and mortality of this ***(miRNA)is considered a key player in HCC and T2DM,and it might be a hidden culprit in diabetes-associated HCC,making it a promising reliable prognostic *** To investigate the signature of serum miRNAs as early biomarkers for the screening of HCC among diabetic *** expression profiles of miRNAs in serum samples of diabetic LC and diabetic HCC patients were assessed using Illumina sequencing;then,RT-qPCR was used to validate significantly altered miRNAs between the two *** miRNAs were tested in serum samples of 200 T2DM patients,270 LC patients,200 HCC patients,and 225 healthy control ***,receiver operating characteristic(ROC)analysis,with area under the curve(AUC),was performed to assess the diagnostic performance of the screened miRNAs for discriminating HCC from LC and nonmalignant patients(LC+T2DM).ReSULTS expression of the sequenced miRNAs in serum was different in HCC vs LCpositive T2DM *** miRNAs(miR-34a,miR-221)were significantly upregulated and five miRNAs(miR-16,miR-23-3p,miR-122-5p,miR-198,miR-199a-3p)were significantly down-regulated in HCC compared to LC *** of ROC curve demonstrated that the combination of these seven miRNAs can be used as a reliable biomarker for detection of HCC in diabetic patients,as it could identify HCC with high diagnostic accuracy in diabetic LC patients(AUC=0.993)and in diabetic nonmalignant patients(AUC=0.961).CONCLUSION This study validates a panel of serum miRNAs that can be used as a reliable noninvasive screening biomarker of HCC among T2DM cirrhotic and noncirrhotic *** study recommends furt

We report here the synthesis and in vivo anticonvulsant/neurotoxicity activities of a series of compounds belonging to 2-aryl-4-arylidene-1-phenyl-1H-imidazol-5(4H)-one. The scaffold is based on the commonality of 5-membered lactam ring structures as successful anticonvulsant agents. The present compounds exhibited a range of anticonvulsant activity in pentylenetetrazole (PTZ)-induced seizure test. In particular, the protection was excellent by compounds bearing furylmethylidene on C4, possibly due to good pharmacokinetic properties. It was found that high lipophilicity and/or electron deficient aryl ring substitution at C4 compromised the anticonvulsant activities. For example, chloro analogues were found much less active than unsubstituted phenyl or furyl derivatives. Regarding side effects, active compounds exerted no observable neurotoxic effect at their therapeutic doses in Chimney test.

Impact of the aqueous extract of dandelion, probiotic and their synbiotic on male lamb’s testicular histopathology relative to semen characteristics

This study aimed at investigating effects of dandelion/probiotic on the testis histology and semen characteristics of male lambs. Twelve prepuberal Noemi male lambs (2 ± 0.4-month-old and 20 ± 3.5 kg B.W) were randomly allocated into four groups. Animals in group 1 were controlled, orally given normal saline as the same schedule of treated animals. In group 2 animals were given daily oral 50 ml of an aqueous extract of dandelion leaves. In group 3 animals were given a daily 50 ml of cow’s milk probiotics, and in group 4 animals were given 50 ml of a 1:1 mixture (dandelion extract: probiotic). Animals were treated for 8 consecutive weeks. At puberty, semen ejaculates were collected weekly for further 10 weeks. Thereafter, animals were sacrificed and testicles were obtained, weighed and a histopathological study was performed on the testis. Results revealed that oral administration of the dandelion aqueous extract to prepuberal lambs exhibited disturbances in the histological architecture of the testicular semeniferous tubules. Additionally, dandelion resulted in edematic interstitial tissues with evident vaculations. These deteriorations were reflected in less spermatogenesis (i.e. less sperm concentration and ejaculate volume by 10% and 20%, respectively than controlled group). Also, the percentage of sperm progressive motility was lower (P ead sperm was higher (P en dandelion than control. Administration of probiotic hasn’t revealed a change in the seminiferous tubules architecture, however, very little vaculation with rare edema was observed. Administration of the synbiotic mixture revealed intermediate histopathological appearances. The highest sperm concentration, testosterone concentration and advanced motility were obtained when probiotic was administered. In conclusion, although dandelion cures some hepatic malfunctions in human, caution must be taken into consideration of the frequent ingestion of dandelion for its harmful eff
