Predictability of the East Asian Winter Monsoon Indices by the Coupled Models of ENseMBLES

The seasonal predictability of various East Asian winter monsoon （EAWM） indices was investigated in this study based on the retrospective forecasts of the five state-of-the-art coupled models from ENseMBLES for a 46-year period of *** was found that the ENseMBLES models predict five out of the 21 EAWM indices well,with temporal correlation coefficients ranging from 0.54 to *** five indices are defined by the averaged lower-tropospheric winds over the low latitudes （south of 30°N）.Further analyses indicated that the predictability of these five indices originates from their intimate relationship with ENSO.A cross-validated prediction,which took the preceding （November） observed Nifo3.4 index as a predictor,gives a prediction skill almost identical to that shown by the *** the other hand,the models present rather low predictability for the other indices and for surface air temperature in East *** addition,the models fail to reproduce the relationship between the indices of different categories,implying that they cannot capture the tropicalextratropical interaction related to EAWM ***,these results suggest that reliable prediction of the EAWM indices and East Asian air temperature remains a challenge.

Optical properties and dynamic process in metal ions doped on Cdse quantum dots sensitized solar cells

In recent years, the nanostructure for solar cells have attracted considerable attention from scientists as a result of a promising candidate for low cost devices. In this work, quantum dots sensitized solar cells with effective performance based on a co-sensitized Cd S∕Cd se：Mn2＋（or Cu2＋） nanocrystal, which was made by successive ionic layer absorption and reaction, are discussed. The optical, physical, chemical, and photovoltaic properties of quantum dots sensitized solar cells were sensitized to Mn2＋and Cu2＋dopants. Therefore, the short current（JSC）of the quantum dot sensitized solar cells is boosted dramatically from 12.351 mA∕cm2 for pure Cd se nanoparticles to 18.990 mA∕cm2 for Mn2＋ions and 19.915 mA∕cm2 for Cu2＋ions. Actually, metal dopant extended the band gap of pure Cd se nanoparticles, reduced recombination, enhanced the efficiency of devices, and improved the charge transfer and collection. In addition, Mn2＋and Cu2＋dopants rose to the level of the conduction band of pure Cd se nanoparticles, which leads to the reduction of the charge recombination, enhances the lightharvesting efficiency, and improves the charge diffusion and collection. The results also were confirmed by the obtained experimental data of photoluminescence decay and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy.

Background: Improving the mechanical properties and angiogenesis of acellular scaffolds before transplantation is an important challenge facing the development of acellular liver grafts. The present study aimed to evaluate the cytotoxicity and angiogenesis of polyethylene glycol(PEG) crosslinked decellularized single liver lobe scaffolds(DLSs), and establish its suitability as a graft for long-term liver tissue engineering. Methods: Using mercaptoacrylate produced by the Michael addition reaction, DLSs were first modified using N-succinimidyl S-acetylthioacetate(SATA), followed by cross-linking with PEG as well as vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF). The optimal concentration of agents and time of the individual steps were identified in this procedure through biomechanical testing and morphological analysis. Subsequently, human umbilical vein endothelial cells(HUVECs) were seeded on the PEG crosslinked scaffolds to detect the proliferation and viability of cells. The scaffolds were then transplanted into the subcutaneous tissue of Sprague-Dawley rats to evaluate angiogenesis. In addition, the average number of blood vessels was evaluated in the grafts with or without PEG at days 7, 14, and 21 after implantation. Results: The PEG crosslinked DLS maintained their three-dimensional structure and were more translucent after decellularization than native DLS, which presented a denser and more porous network structure. The results for Young’s modulus proved that the mechanical properties of 0.5 PEG crosslinked DLS were the best and close to that of native livers. The PEG-VEGF-DLS could better promote cell proliferation and differentiation of HUVECs compared with the groups without PEG cross-linking. Importantly, the average density of blood vessels was higher in the PEG-VEGF-DLS than that in other groups at days 7, 14, and 21 after implantation in vivo. Time-domain channel estimator based on cyclic correlationfor OFDM systems with guard interval

Channel impulse response （CIR） can be estimated on the basis of cyclic correlation in time-domain for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing （OFDM） systems, This article proposes a generalized channel estimation method to reduce the estimation error by taking the average of different CIRs. Channel impulse responses are derived according to the different starting points of cyclic correlation. In addition, an effective CIR length estimation algorithm is also presented. The whole proposed methods are more effective to OFDM systems, especialiy to those with longer cyclic prefix. The analysis and the simulation results verify that the mean square error performance is 4-5 dB better than the conventional schemes under the same conditions.

Deep Learning Approach for Cosmetic Product Detection and Classification

As the amount of online video content is increasing,consumers are becoming increasingly interested in various product names appearing in videos,particularly in cosmetic-product names in videos related to fashion,beauty,and ***,the identification of such products by using image recognition technology may aid in the identification of current commercial *** this paper,we propose a two-stage deep-learning detection and classification method for cosmetic ***,variants of the YOLO network are used for detection,where the bounding box for each given input product is predicted and subsequently cropped for *** use four state-of-the-art classification networks,namely ResNet,InceptionResNetV2,DenseNet,and EfficientNet,and compare their ***,we employ dilated convolution in these networks to obtain better feature representations and improve *** experiments demonstrate that YOLOv3 and its tiny version achieve higher speed and ***,the dilated networks marginally outperform the base models,or achieve similar performance in the worst *** conclude that the proposed method can effectively detect and classify cosmetic products.

Recent progress on the seasonal tropical cyclone predictions over the western North Pacific from 2014 to 2020

This study summarized the procedure for the seasonal predictions of tropical cyclones(TCs)over the western North Pacific(WNP),which is currently operating at the Korea Meteorological Administration(KMA),Republic of *** methodology was briefly described,and its prediction accuracy was *** predictions were produced by synthesizing spatiotemporal evolutions of various climate factors such as El Ni no–Southern Oscillation(ENSO),monsoon activity,and Madden–Julian Oscillation(MJO),using four models:a statistical,a dynamical,and two statistical–dynamical *** KMA forecaster predicted the number of TCs over the WNP based on the results of the four models and season to season climate *** seasonal prediction of TCs is announced through the press twice a year,for the summer on May and fall on *** present results showed low accuracy during the period 2014–*** advance forecast skill,a set of recommendations are suggested.

Quantitative analysis of uranium in electrorecovery salt of pyroprocessing using laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy
