The objective of this study is to seek solutions to reduce the impact of buildings on climate change and to promote the use of local bio-sourced or geo-sourced materials for sustainable construction. Different samples of raw earth from 3 sites were taken in the commune of Mlomp. Geotechnical tests showed that the raw earth samples from sites 2 and 3 have more clay fraction while site 1 contains more sand. The fact of integrating fibers from crushed palm leaves (Borassus aethiopum) (2%, 4% and 6%) into the 3 raw earth samples reduced the mechanical resistance to compression and traction of the 3 raw earths. The experimental results of thermal tests on samples of earth mixtures with crushed Palma leaf fibers show a decrease in thermal conductivity as well as thermal effusivity as the percentages increase (2%, 4% and 6%) of fibers in raw earth for the 3 sites. This shows that this renewable composite material can help improve the thermal insulation of building envelopes.

Objective:To assess the in vitro antibacterial activity of honey from different geographical location on Gram negative ***:Different concentrations(Undiluted honey,10%, 30%,50%and 70%wt/vol) of honey were studied in vitro using Staphylococcus aureus(***) and Streptococcus pyogenes(***),briefly,two-fold dilutions of honey solutions were tested to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC) against each type of microorganism,followed by more assays within a narrower dilution range to obtain more precise MIC *** were determined by both visual inspection and spectrophotometric assay at 620 *** honey samples were compared with standard antibiotics like ampicillin,penicillin G,amoxicillin,gentamycin,tobramycin,erythromycin and chloramphenicol was determined by the disc diffusion ***:The diameter of zone of the inhibition(ZDI) of honey has various concentrations tested for the isolates ranged 0-46 mm for ***,0-44 mm for *** the MIC(%) ranged 12%-95%,25%-73%***:Algeria honey,in-vitro,possess antibacterial activity.

Production of cowpea (Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp.), a staple legume crop in Sub-Saharan Africa, faces challenges due to biotic and abiotic constraints. Induced mutagenesis was deployed to create genetic variation in two cowpea varieties (KVX396-4-5-2D and moussa local). The radio-sensitivity tests led to determe the lethal dose 50 (LD50) corresponding to 230 Gy and 220 Gy for KVX396-4-5-2D and moussa local varieties, respectively. Dried seeds (M0) of each variety were gamma-ray irradiated with LD50 − 50, LD50 and LD50 + 50. M1 seeds were advanced to generate M2, M3 and M4 mutants using the single-seed-descent method. M4 mutant lines were evaluated in rain-fed conditions using a randomized complete block design to assess phenotypic differences. Data on seven qualitative and eleven quantitative traits were collected. The results indicated that the mutation induced variability in three qualitative traits: in KVX 396-4-5-2D mutant lines, with flower and seed color frequencies at 2.61% and 0.56% respectively, and pod dehiscence at a frequency of 0.24%. While in moussa local mutants, a pod color changed at a frequency of 17%. ANOVA results revealed significant differences between mutants of both varieties for all quantitative traits, including photosynthetic parameters. Positive correlations were observed between leaf diameter and 100-seed weight, and between branch number and 100-seed weight. Hierarchical clustering revealed three clusters among KVX 396-4-5-2D mutants and six clusters among moussa local mutants. Early maturity and high foliage were induced traits in Cluster 3 of KVX 396-4-5-2D mutants while high hundred-seed weight was induced in Cluster 6 of moussa local mutants.

Thoracic Wounds by Firearm at the University Hospital Yalgado Ouedraogo (YO)

Introduction: Thoracic wounds by firearms are frequent and severe. They may involve the patient’s prognosis. Objective: To study the epidemiological, clinical, paraclinical, therapeutic and evolutionary aspects of the thoracic wounds by firearms. Material and method: This was a cross-sectional, descriptive study of all patients over the age of 15 who consulted in the university hospital-YO in the department of general and digestive surgery over a period of 5 years. Results: We collected 50 cases of thoracic wounds by firearms on 183 thoracic wounds with a prevalence of 27.3%. There were 48 men (96%). The average age was 30 years. The patients came from urban areas in 66% of cases;the informal sector accounted for 44% of the cases. The pistol was the most involved firearm (46.9%). The consultation period was less than 6 hours in 78% of patients. An unstable hemodynamic state was found in 42% (n = 21). A fluid and mixed pleural effusion syndrome was found in 46% and 26% of patients, respectively. Associated lesions were diaphragm involvement, and lesions of intra-abdominal hollow organs. Thoracic drainage was performed in 24 patients (48%) and was associated with a laparotomy in 8 patients. The average hospital stay was 7.5 days. Mortality was 14%. Conclusion: the thoracic wounds by firearms are frequent in civilian practice. The thoracic CT allows mapping of the lesions and thoracic drainage constitutes the essential part of surgical treatment. The fight against the proliferation of weapons deserves to be promoted.

Objective: To describe diagnostic and therapeutic outcomes of infected vaginal *** and Methods: This is a retrospective descriptive study over a period of two years from June 2013 to May 2015 at the urological emergency department of Yalgado Ouédraogo University Hospital (CHU-YO). Results: We collected seven cases during the period of study. The average age of patients was 35 years. Two patients (2/7) were from urban and five from rural areas. Five patients (5/7) were married and two (2/7) unmarried. six patients (6/7) were farmers and one (1/7) was civil servent. Clinical examination findings were dominated by bilateral painful scrotal swelling and fever in all cases, a scrotal necrosis in two cases. The dominant indication of the puncture-aspiration was discomfort during sexual intercourse (5/7). At the opening of the scrotum purulent fluid was aspirated in all cases, and we performed a unilateral orchidectomy in two cases. A hydrocelectomy was performed in all cases. The postoperative evolution was simple in all patients. Conclusion: The puncture-aspiration must be avoided because the risk of infection and the high recurrence rate.

Genetic Diversity of Local Rice Accessions Cultivated in Guinea Based on Agro-Morphological Traits and Identification of Sources of Tolerance to Iron Toxicity

In Guinea, traditional rice varieties are the most widely cultivated in rural areas despite their low yield and high susceptibility to iron toxicity. Moreover, the introduction of new improved varieties tolerant to iron toxicity poses a serious threat to the preservation of the genetic resources of these traditional varieties, whose genetic diversity remains poorly known. The present study therefore aims at a better valorisation of these local rice cultivars through the evaluation of their agromorphological diversity and the identification of genotypes potentially tolerant or resistant to iron toxicity. Thus, 90 accessions collected in the regions of Kindia and Macenta and six controls susceptible or resistant to iron toxicity (AZUCENA, BOUAKE 189, CK 73, IR64, NERICAL 19 and AURYLUX 6) were evaluated in three replicate alpha lattice designs in two sites (Sérédou and Kilissi) using 16 agromorphological traits. The results showed significant agromorphological variability of the traditional accessions at both sites for all qualitative and most quantitative traits studied. In addition, 30 local cultivars expressed similar or higher grain yields than the resistant or tolerant controls at both sites, of which 12 were found to be stable at both sites. Of the 12 cultivars identified, five were resistant and seven tolerant to iron toxicity. These 12 accessions could be used in the varietal improvement of lowland rice in Guinea Conakry.

Influence of chemical modification by Y2O3 on eutectic si characteristics and tensile properties of A356 alloy

The modification of A356 aluminum-silicon alloy using yttrium oxide (Y2O3) was studied. Addition levels of up to 2.5 wt.% Y2O3 were investigated. A premixed powder of Al-30wt.%Y2O3 was added to the melt at about 750℃ using vortex method. Samples were then poured in sand mold. The results showed that evident modification was obtained using the Y2O3 addition. The optimum level was 1.5 wt.%, and was corresponding to a eutectic temperature depression from 568 to 557℃. The eutectic si particles were refined in length from 44.8 to 8.3 μm, and modified in aspect ratio from 6.8 to 0.98. Higher additions of Y2O3 caused de-modification of the eutectic si particles. The ductility of the modified specimens was enhanced by more than 20% compared to the unmodified ones. This was associated with a gradual transfer from cleavage to a more ductile mode of fracture.

Transanal Evisceration of Small Bowel about One Case at the University Hospital Yalgado Ouédraogo of Ouagadougou

Introduction: Transanal evisceration of small bowel is an extremely rare condition that can occur spontaneously or after trauma. Objective: To report a case of Transanal evisceration of small bowel to describe the circumstances of occurrence and our therapeutic attitude. Observation: An 80-year-old female patient was received at the visceral Emergency of University Hospital Yalgado Ouédraogo for the outcome of the small intestine by the anus with the waning of a defecation effort. The physical examination of the patient accustomed to evacuation purgation noted, eviscerated the small bowel through the anus, edematous but viable. The preoperative laboratory tests were normal. In emergency, under general anesthesia, a laparotomy was possible to objectify the incarceration of intestinal loops through linear perforation of 5 cenimeter from the anterior surface of the rectosigmoid hinge. We conducted an ileo-ileal resection anastomosis, a suture rectosigmoid breach and anal extraction of small bowel incarcerated measuring 200 centimeter. The evolution was simple. Conclusion: The weakening of the rectal mucosa by repeated purges has certainly been the contributory factor. The surgical treatment must be precocious to avoid extensive intestinal resection.

Testicular Seminoma and Peritonitis about One Case at the Yalgado Ouedraogo University Hospital of Ouagadougou

Introduction: Testicular seminoma is a highly lymphophilic germ cell tumor. It is the most common germ cell tumor in young adults. We are reporting one case of testicular seminoma complicated with an acute generalized peritonitis (AGP), in order to describe the circumstances of diagnosis and discuss about treatment. Observation: It involved a 39-year-old patient, admitted for vague abdominal pains that were evolving since 72 hours with a history of right orchiectomy because of testicular seminoma in 2011. The analysis revealed a peritoneal syndrome, a right inguinal lymphadenopathy of 10 cm diameter and an empty right scrotum. The exploration revealed fistulized necrotic retro-peritoneal lymphadenopathies in the peritoneal cavity and ileal perforation on contact with these lymphadenopathies. Necrosectomy and ileal resections were performed. After the operation, the scanner revealed a conglomeration of retro-peritoneal adenomegalies extending to the right femoral region associated with bilateral pleurisy. The β-HCG and the LDH were 8000 IU/L and 24,500 IU/L, respectively. The seminoma was ranked T3N3M1. The immediate post-operative care was uneventful. The patient was lost from sight for a month and was readmitted in a context of alteration of his general condition. He died before the end of the pre-chemotherapeutic assessment. Conclusion: Scrotal mass is the usual way of revelation of testicular seminoma. In poorly followed-up cases, exceptional complications such as peritonitis may occur and are direct consequences of poor prognosis.
