The present work consists of dynamic detection of damages in reinforced concrete bridges by using a MMUM (mathematical model updating method) from incomplete test data. A well suited finite element model of a repaired bridge is carried out. The diagnosis enables us to locate and detect the damage in a reinforced concrete bridge. Thus, developments of analytical predictions have been checked by modal testing techniques. Besides, the FTCS (finite time centered space) scheme is developed to solve the set of equations which can easily handle finite element matrices of a bridge model. It is shown in this study that the method is applied to detect damages as well as existing cracks in real time of a repaired bridge. To check the efficiency of the method, the repaired bridge of OuedOumazer in Algeria has been selected. It is proven that identification methods have been able to detect the exact location of damage areas to be corrected avoiding the inaccuracy from the finite element model for the mass, stiffness and loading.

Of the four national hunting reserves in Algeria, the Mounts of Tlemcen Moutas reserve http://***,characterized by a large area, reliefs and a specific climate, implies significant floristic and faunistic richness. Currently, the coexistence of species, such asQuercus fagineasubsp. tlemcenensis(DC.) M.,Lonicera implexaL., Ruscus aculeatusL., indicates a forest dominant ecological atmosphere, although the region has experienced repeated fires during the 90’s. In this research, a phytoecologicaland syntaxonomical analysis is obvious. More than 300 species have been inventoried and indexed in more than 70 families and this shows the importance of phyto-diversity of the studiedregion. In the analysis of the phyto-ecological parameters, we could notice a regression of the vegetal cover in its diversity.

Acute osteomyelitis is a common condition in children. Only early diagnosis prevents complications. The location at the pubic bones is very rare, even exceptional at the pubis symphis. We report a case of osteomyelitis of the pubis in a young athlete of 14 years old whose symptoms were discussing an acute abdomen, to illustrate the unusual clinical presentation, so as not to miss the diagnosis and avoid unnecessary laparotomy.

This study aims to highlight evidences of tectonic and geodynamic features within Lakhssas high plateau karst area (Moroccan Western Anti-Atlas), using an original approach based on geospeleothems analysis.?This work is organized by the speleogenesis process, controlled by tectonics and interference of karst intrinsic parameters.?Regarding the first issue, a multi-layered study compiling inventoried speleological spaces with tectonic field data analysis then with lithological, hydrogeological and geomorphological features, has demonstrated that speleogenesis processes are deeply controlled by tectonic framework so described as “speleotects”. Subsequent studies in terms of sedimentology, geomorphology, hydrogeology and dating deposits, are planned to ground those conclusions.

Primary muscle hydatidosis is very rare, accounting for less than 1% of hydatid cyst locations, and the gluteus muscle location is exceptional. The objective of this study is to report an exceptional location of hydatid cyst of the gluteus muscle presented like a tumor in the buttock region. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is helpful in diagnosis, it represents the best test for hydatid cysts of the soft parts. It is important to establish the diagnosis preoperatively in order to limit the risk of anaphylactic shock or dissemination in the event of puncture or accidental opening of the cyst during resection. The eradication of this disease is based on prophylaxis.

Clogging in the heat exchangers of the phosphoric acid concentration unit is a phenomenon which hinders the proper functioning of the installation. It results in the accumulation of undesirable solid deposits on the pipes and consequently a decrease of its performance. This deposit is mainly anhydrous or hemihydrate gypsum in addition to Na2SiF6. Phosphoric acid desulphation before its concentration step allows reducing this undesirable effect. Barium carbonate is used for the retention of sulphate ions using a simple experimental protocol which can easily be inserted into the phosphoric acid manufacturing. Four factors: quality of the phosphoric acid to be concentrated, amount of barium carbonate, temperature and time, were studied using design of experiment (DOE) methodology with two-level full factorial design strategy in order to assess their effects on desulphation. Only the first two factors have significant effects. Therefore, for effective sulphate removal, the validated statistical model (R2 = 99.96%) allows to predict the amount of barium carbonate to be used, depending on quality of the phosphoric acid to be concentrated and using the available temperature and time in the industrial process.

Practical Method Proposed to Estimate Silting’s Rate in Small and Hillside Dams

The construction of small dams and hillside reservoirs is a common practice for dealing with erratic and unevenly distributed rainfalls in arid and semi arid areas. Moreover, these small hydraulics structures are recommended as a solution to adapt to climate change in rural areas. They are fundamental for the sustainability of the water resources. However, these dams are potential sinks for upstream sediment. Therefore, it would be useful to monitor and measure the amount of sediments in small dams because it is necessary to understand siltation and better functioning of these vital structures. This control and these measurements require the application of the bathymetry or topography surveys which is too expensive for the responsible of these small dams. In this context, this paper proposes a simple and low cost method called: Triangulation of the estimated silted level. This method is based on direct measurement of the accessible silted level in dam. This new method is compared with another method based on the initial Elevation-Capacity curve of dam, usually used when the bathymetry is not attainable. The results of both of them have been verified with those of the bathymetry and electrical tomography methods and validated the proposal method as the most approximate. Therefore, this method is recommended as a new direct and simple technique to evaluate the amount of silting in small dams and hillside reservoirs.
