We demonstrate that the methodology of frequency-resolved optical gating(FROG) is applicable to time-resolved reflection spectroscopy of a plasma mirror in the vacuum-ultraviolet(VUV) region. Our recent study [R. Itakura et al. Opt. Express 23, 10914(2015)] has shown that a VUV waveform can be retrieved from a VUV reflection spectrogram of a plasma mirror formed on a fused silica(FS) surface by irradiation with an intense femtosecond laser pulse. Simultaneously, the increase in the reflectivity with respect to the Fresnel reflection of the unexcited FS surface can be obtained as a time-dependent reflectivity of the plasma mirror. In this study, we update the FROG analysis procedure using the least-square generalized projections algorithm. This procedure can reach convergence much faster than the previous one and has no aliasing problem. It is demonstrated that a significantly chirped VUV pulse as long as 1 ps can be precisely characterized.

BACKGROUND Metastatic cardiac tumors are known to occur more frequently than primary cardiac tumors,however,they often remain asymptomatic and are commonly dis-covered on autopsy.Malignant tumors with a relatively high frequency of cardiac metastasis include mesothelioma,melanoma,lung cancer,and breast cancer,whereas reports of esophageal cancer with cardiac metastasis are rare.CASE SUMMARY The case of a 60-year-old man who complained of dysphagia is presented.Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy showed a submucosal tumor-like elevated lesion in the esophagus causing stenosis.Contrast-enhanced computed tomography showed left atrial compression due to the esophageal tumor,multiple liver and lung metastases,and a left pleural effusion.Pathological examination of a biopsy speci-men from the esophageal tumor showed spindle-shaped cells,raising suspicion of esophageal sarcoma.The disease progressed rapidly,and systemic chemotherapy was deemed necessary,however,due to his poor general condition,adminis-tration of cytotoxic agents was considered difficult.Given his high Combined Positive Score,nivolumab was administered,however,the patient soon died from the disease.The autopsy confirmed spindle cell carcinoma(SCC)of the esophagus and cardiac metastasis with similar histological features.Cancer stem cell markers,ZEB1 and TWIST,were positive in both the primary tumor and the cardiac metastasis.CONCLUSION To the best of our knowledge,there have been no prior reports of cardiac metastasis of esophageal SCC.This case highlights our experience with a patient with esophageal SCC who progressed rapidly and died from the disease,with the autopsy examination showing cardiac metastasis.

换道决策是智能网联汽车的核心难题之一，其面临着高动态、复杂交通场景下需要综合考虑行驶安全及效率等目标的巨大挑战。提出一种多目标预测优化的换道决策方法，主要包括动力学矩阵建模及多目标预测优化问题解算。基于智能网联汽车的通讯大数据信息构建交通流矩阵模型，然后分别设计表征车辆换道安全、行驶效率的动力学模型，通过多目标综合预测优化方法，求解条件约束下预测优化问题从而优化出最优换道决策指令。结果表明，所提出的预测优化换道方法较其他方法提高了智能汽车的行驶安全性和效率。

Fundamental Study on Response Properties of Structures Constructed on Lunar Regolith

The Artemis Program, for constructing the lunar base, is in progress. How to design and construct architectural and civil engineering structures in the lunar environment has become an important issue. The lunar surface is covered with soft sand, called regolith, and it is required to protect lunar bases and structures, as well as internal precision equipment, against vibrational disturbances such as moonquakes and meteorite collisions. Therefore, in this study, the static and cyclic triaxial compression tests of the regolith simulant were conducted. The reference strain and equivalent damping factor of the regolith simulant were smaller compared to sandy soil on Earth. In addition, a shaking table test using model specimens was conducted on the response properties of regolith ground alone and structures set on regolith ground. The buried foundation and pile foundation notably suppressed the horizontal response attributed to the rocking component compared to a direct foundation.

The immune-stromal cell interactions play a key role in health and diseases. In periodontitis, the most prevalent infectious disease in humans, immune cells accumulate in the oral mucosa and promote bone destruction by inducing receptor activator of nuclear factor-κB ligand (RANKL) expression in osteogenic cells such as osteoblasts and periodontal ligament cells. However, the detailed mechanism underlying immune–bone cell interactions in periodontitis is not fully understood. Here, we performed single-cell RNAsequencing analysis on mouse periodontal lesions and showed that neutrophil–osteogenic cell crosstalk is involved in periodontitis-induced bone loss. The periodontal lesions displayed marked infiltration of neutrophils, and in silico analyses suggested that the neutrophils interacted with osteogenic cells through cytokine production. Among the cytokines expressed in the periodontal neutrophils, oncostatin M (OSM) potently induced RANKL expression in the primary osteoblasts, and deletion of the OSM receptor in osteogenic cells significantly ameliorated periodontitis-induced bone loss. Epigenomic data analyses identified the OSM-regulated RANKL enhancer region in osteogenic cells, and mice lacking this enhancer showed decreased periodontal bone loss while maintaining physiological bone metabolism. These findings shed light on the role of neutrophils in bone regulation during bacterial infection, highlighting the novel mechanism underlying osteoimmune crosstalk.

轨迹规划仍然是自动驾驶技术大规模应用所面临的关键难题之一。例如,自动驾驶中的换道轨迹规划算法通常被构建为一个针对代价函数的优化过程。然而,为适应多样化的交通场景而手动调整代价函数中的特征权重,是一项极具挑战性的任务。针对这一问题,提出了一种基于异质边增强时空图注意力网络(Heterogeneous Edge-enhanced Spatial-Temporal Graph ATtention network, HEST-GAT)的新型换道轨迹规划方法。首先,采用逆强化学习技术,从大量专家级换道示范中提取代价函数的特征权重向量,构建了一个专家级换道示范数据集。然后,将交通场景构建为一个异质有向图,其中,交通参与者的位置定义为节点属性,交通参与者间的相对位置作为边属性,交通参与者之间的关联类型则定义为边类型。边的属性和类型组合,形成了边的特征表示。为捕获交通场景中的空间和时间信息,采用HEST-GAT网络进行特征提取,并计算了各场景下代价函数的特征权重。接着构建了一个结合轨迹特征和特征权重的代价函数,并通过优化过程生成最终的换道轨迹规划。为验证所提出方法的实用性,在真实驾驶数据集上进行了多轮换道轨迹规划测试和评估。研究结果显示:与基于时空图卷积网络方法相比,基于HEST-GAT的换道轨迹规划在模拟专家示范轨迹方面的误差显著减少。纵向舒适性、纵向效率、横向舒适性和安全性4项关键指标的误差分别降低了5.5%、5.4%、1.4%和6.0%。结果表明提出的方法能够生成与人类驾驶行为高度一致的换道轨迹,具有卓越的场景适应能力。

Effect of fiber-reinforcement on the mechanical behavior of sand approaching the critical state

Several types of ground improvement methods that employ fiber-reinforcement have been developed in recent years.A series of consolidated drained triaxial compression tests has been conducted here to examine the effect of short fibers on the mechanical properties of Toyoura sand.Sand with 0%,0.2%,0.4%,and 1%fiber contents,prepared to yield random distribution,was sheared under several confining pressures and controlled via their initial relative densities.The test results showed that the maximum and residual deviatoric stresses increased,whereas the volumetric expansion decreased with an increase in fiber content.Although the stress ratio h(=q/p′)and specific volume changed depending on the fiber content and confining pressure with shear progression,they each reached the same values for a definite fiber content at the end of shearing,independent of initial relative density.In other words,the unique critical state line can be found for a definite fiber content.Moreover,the greater the fiber content,the larger the slope of the critical state line at the end of shearing.Additionally,as the length of fibers shortened with the same percentage of fiber inclusions in sand,the deviatoric stress and the stress ratio decreased,approaching the shear-strain-volumetric response of unreinforced sand.
