AIM: To evaluate the effectuality and safety of cataract surgery combined with either ab interno trabeculotomy by the microhook(μLOT) or a single i Stent? trabecular bypass implantation(i Stent) in eyes with cataract and mild-tomoderate glaucoma. METHODS: This study enrolled subjects with mild-tomoderate open angle glaucoma with visually significant cataract who used two or more ophthalmic antiglaucoma agents between 60 and 90 y of age. Patients underwent cataract surgery cooperated with either implantation of an i Stent(i Stent-phaco) or excisional goniotomy with the μLOT(μLOT-phaco). Patients underwent μLOT-phaco in the eye with lower the mean deviation, according to the Humphrey field analyzer, while i Stent-phaco was carried out on the other eye. Intraocular pressure(IOP) pre-and post-surgery, alterations in anterior chamber flare(ACF), and corneal endothelial cell density(ECD) were ***: Twenty subjects were enrolled(mean age: 73.6±7.3 y). The mean medicated preoperative IOP was 16.7 mm Hg in the μLOT and 16.2 mm Hg in the i Stent eyes. The mean final IOP at 12 mo was 13.6 mm Hg in the μLOT eyes and 13.6 mm Hg in the i Stent eyes, representing a 17.8% and 17.2% reduction, respectively. The preoperative ACF in the μLOT eyes was 9.5 pc/ms and it returned to normal in 30 d postoperatively, with a value of 11.4 pc/ms. In the i Stent eyes, ACF was 9.6 pc/ms preoperatively and it returned to normal by 7 d postoperatively(11.2 pc/ms atday 7), demonstrating that postoperative inflammation was less in the i Stent eyes. The corneal ECD in both groups was not significantly ***: In this study, i Stent and μLOT are both effective through 12 mo of follow-up. Safety is more favorable in the i Stent eyes, based on early anterior chamber inflammation.

BACKGROUND McCune–Albright syndrome(MAS)is caused by postzygotic somatic mutations of the GNAS *** is characterized by the clinical triad of fibrous dysplasia,caféau-lait skin spots,and endocrinological *** complications in MAS,including hepatobiliary manifestations,are also *** SUMMARY This is a case of a 4-year-old boy who presented with MAS with neonatal *** was suspected to have Alagille syndrome due to neonatal cholestasis with intrahepatic bile duct paucity in liver biopsy,peripheral pulmonary artery stenosis,and renal tubular *** the age of 2 years,his cholestatic liver injury gradually improved,but he had repeated left femoral *** did not exhibit endocrinological abnormality or café-au-lait skin ***,MAS was suspected due to fibrous dysplasia at the age of 4 *** mutation was identified in the GNAS gene in the DNA isolated from the peripheral blood,but an activating point mutation(c.601C>T,***201Cys)was observed in the DNA extracted from the affected bone tissue and that extracted from the formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded liver tissue,which was obtained at the age of 1 *** MAS should be considered as a differential diagnosis for transient cholestasis in infancy.

Purpose:The aim of this study was to examine the self-care practices and health-seeking behaviours of older adults in urban ***:The cross-sectional study was performed from January to March 2014 in the Tammua sub-district of *** the time of the study,273 older adults resided in Tammua,and half of them(51.2%)participated in this *** collection was carried out including self-care practices,health literacy,self-efficacy and basic conditioning ***:It was found that most respondents(124;88.6%)always ate various protein sources ***,many participants never limited consumption of sugar(55;39.3%)or salt(40;28.6%),and more than half of respondents(96;68.6%)did not regularly visit *** status(p<0.05),health maintenance(p<0.01)and salt limitation(p<0.05)were all significantly associated with salt *** was found that respondents with higher selfefficacy,those who did not want to get information,and those of younger ages are less likely to visit MHCs ***:An understanding of self-care practices and self-efficacy is needed to improve health care in developing *** self-efficacy should be promoted along with adequate health *** persons should learn the importance of regular health examinations to promote health,prevent diseases,and slow the progress of chronic *** number of respondents who never limit their sugar and salt intake was especially *** intervention program should be developed to limit salt and sugar intake of Indonesian elderly and to motivate older persons to use primary health services.

Features of tectonin I and II expression in Physarum polycephalum cells were examined at both the protein and mRNA levels. Among the five cell cycle stages of P. polycephalum, the plasmodia, microplasmodia, and sclerotia contained both tectonin I and tectonin II;the spores did not contain any of these;and the amoebae contained tectonin I, but not tectonin II. When the mating of amoebae formed plasmodia, the mRNA and protein levels of tectonin II increased with the growth of zygotes. In the early stage of differentiation from plasmodia to spores, the mRNA levels of tectonins I and II decreased. Tectonins I and II were associated with the membrane fraction that precipitated at 200,000 ×g and could be released only by urea treat-ment of this fraction. Furthermore, when the fraction was digested with proteinase K, tectonin II completely disappeared. Immunofluoromicroscopy indicated that tectonins I and II exist in the lamellipodia of plasmo-dia.

Secalonic Acid and Benzoic Acid Analogues Exhibiting Cyto toxicity against Cancer Cells Isolated from Claviceps yanagawaensis

The genus Claviceps (Clavicipitaceae) is noted for producing ergot alkaloids that cause ergotism. Claviceps yanagawaensis, a parasite of Zoysia japonica (family: Poaceae), has been isolated in Japan. Bioactivity screening showed that a methanol extract from a rice culture of C. yanagawaensis was cytotoxic to cancer cells. In our search for active substances, the new secalonic acid analogues (-)-5-epi-F-7 (1) and ergochrysin C (2) and a new benzoic acid analogue, dimethyl bigutol (3), were isolated along with the known compounds 3,4-dihydroxy-5-(3-methyl-2-buten-1-yl)benzoic acid (4) and methyl veratrate (5). The structures of 1 - 3 were elucidated by NMR, MS, and circular dichroism spectroscopy. MTT assays of 1 - 5 using cancer cell lines (HepG2, HL60, HT29, PANC-1, and T98G) showed that 1 - 4 exhibited cytotoxicity against cancer cells.
