When heavy-duty commercial vehicles(HDCVs)must engage in emergency braking,uncertain conditions such as the brake pressure and road profile variations will inevitably affect braking *** minimize these uncertainties,we propose a combined longitudinal and lateral controller method based on stochastic model predictive control(SMPC)that is achieved via Chebyshev–Cantelli *** our method,SMPC calculates braking control inputs based on a finite time prediction that is achieved by solving stochastic programming elements,including chance *** accomplish this,SMPC explicitly describes the probabilistic uncertainties to be used when designing a robust control *** main contribution of this paper is the proposal of a braking control formulation that is robust against probabilistic friction circle uncertainty *** specifically,the use of Chebyshev–Cantelli inequality suppresses road profile influences,which have characteristics that are different from the Gaussian distribution,thereby improving both braking robustness and control performance against statistical ***,since the Kalman filtering(KF)algorithm is used to obtain the expectation and covariance used for calculating deterministic transformed chance constraints,the SMPC is reformulated as a KF embedded deterministic ***,the effectiveness of our proposed method is verified via a MATLAB/Simulink and TruckSim co-simulation.

AIM:To investigate whether microsomal prostaglandin E synthase-1 (mPGES-1) expression in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and in non-cancerous liver affects HCC prognosis after hepatectomy. METHODS: The relationship between patient clinical prof iles, tumor factors, surgical determinants, and mPGES-1 expression and the recurrence-free survival rate were examined in 64 patients who underwent curative hepatectomy between March 2003 and December 2006. RESULTS: The scores for mPGES-1 expression were higher in well differentiated and moderately differentiated HCC tissues than in poorly differentiated HCC tissues (well differentiated, 5.1 ± 2.7; moderately differentiated, 5.1 ± 1.7; poorly differentiated, 3.0 ± 1.8). In noncancerous liver tissues, the mPGES-1 levels were higher in injured liver tissues than in normal tissues. Cirrhotic livers had higher mPGES-1 levels than livers with chronic hepatitis (normal livers, 3.3 ± 0.7; chronic hepatitic livers, 5.4 ± 1.9; cirrhotic livers, 6.4 ± 1.6). A univariate analysis revealed that the recurrence-free survival rate was signif icantly lower in patients with vascular invasion,a higher mPGES-1 level in non-cancerous liver tissue,a larger tumor diameter (≥5 cm), and a lower serum albumin level (≤3.7 g/dL). The mPGES-1 expression in HCC tissues did not correlate well with postoperative recurrence. A multivariate analysis demonstrated that the presence of vascular invasion and higher mPGES-1 levels were statistically significant independent predictors for early postoperative recurrence of ***: Increased mPGES-1 expression in noncancerous liver tissues is closely associated with the early recurrence of HCC after curative resection.

We investigate several robust preconditioners for solving the saddle-point linear systems that arise from spatial discretization of unsteady and steady variablecoefficient Stokes equations on a uniform staggered *** on the success of using the classical projection method as a preconditioner for the coupled velocitypressure system[***,***.,228(2009),pp.7565–7595],as well as established techniques for steady and unsteady Stokes flow in the finite-element literature,we construct preconditioners that employ independent generalized Helmholtz and Poisson solvers for the velocity and pressure *** demonstrate that only a single cycle of a standard geometric multigrid algorithm serves as an effective inexact solver for each of these *** to traditional wisdom,we find that the Stokes problem can be solved nearly as efficiently as the independent pressure and velocity subproblems,making the overall cost of solving the Stokes system comparable to the cost of classical projection or fractional step methods for incompressible flow,even for steady flow and in the presence of large density and viscosity *** of the five preconditioners considered here are found to be robust to GMRES restarts and to increasing problem size,making them suitable for large-scale *** work opens many possibilities for constructing novel unsplit temporal integrators for finite-volume spatial discretizations of the equations of low Mach and incompressible flow dynamics.

Effect of electro-acupuncture on the expression of heat shock protein-70 gene in rat spinal cords following spinal cord injury

BACKGROUND： It is generally believed that the mechanism by which heat shock protein-70 （HSP70） protects cells is related to its effectiveness in maintaining the normal stereochemical structure of intracellular proteins, and in participating in the process of cell apoptosis. Whether electro-acupuncture participates in HSP70 expression and produces neuroprotective effects remain unclear. OBJECTIVE： This study aimed at detecting HSP70 expression after electro-acupuncture in rats with transected spinal cord, in order to further validate the mechanism of electro-acupuncture-induced effects in the treatment of spinal cord injury. DESIGN： A controlled observational experiment. SETTING： Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Toho University, School of Medicine. MATERIALS： Seventy adult male Sprague-Dawley rats of SPF grade, weighing 200± 20 g, were provided by the Laboratory Animal Center of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, with permission No. SYXK （hu） 2004 - 2005. The animals were handled in accordance with the requests from Animal Ethics Committees for guidance. A G6805-2 multiple purpose treatment machine was used （Shanghai Medical Instruments High-Tech Co.,Ltd., Shanghai, China）. METHODS： This study was carried out in the state level laboratories of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Toho University, School of Medicine between January 2005 and July 2007. The rats were randomly divided into the electro-acupuncture treated group, which received electro-acupuncture treatment in addition to spinal cord surgery and the control group, which received only spinal cord surgery, with 35 rats in each group. All the rats underwent the same surgery consisting of spinal cord transection at the T10 level. If the spinal cord was completely transected and the two posterior limbs were completely paralyzed, then the surgery was considered successful and the animal was kept for further analysis and testing. AIM： To compare the prognosis of patients who underwent hepatectomy and ablation using the modified Japan Integrated Staging score （mJIS）. METHODS： We examined the clinicopathologic records and patient outcomes in 278 HCC patients including 226 undergoing hepatectomy and 52 undergoing ablation therapy. RESULTS： Cirrhosis was more frequent in the ablation group. Tumor size, number and presence of vascular invasion were significantly higher in the operation group compared to the ablation group. The local recurrence rate adjacent to treated lesions was significantly higher in the ablation group compared to the operation group （P 〈 0.05）. The 3- and 5-year survival rates in the ablation and the operation group were 66% and 78%, and 50% and 63%, respectively, but not significantly different. Over 50% survival rates were observed in patients with a *** score of 0-2 in both groups. However, survival rates with a score of 3-5 in both groups were significantly lower. CONCLUSION： According to the mJIS system, both local treatments could be selected for patients with a score of 0-2. However, for patients with a score more than 3, liver transplantation might be a better option in patients with HCC.

The field of endoscopy has progressed markedly and become widespread in recent years, and the role of minimally invasive endoscopic treatment has become increasingly more important with the increase in the number of patients in whom gastric cancer is detected at an early stage. In addition, the characteristics of early gastric cancer, which can be curably treated by mucosal resection alone just as by surgical cancer resection, were clarified, and endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) was developed as a highly curable, minimally invasive treatment, that is gaining popularity. In this paper, we describe the technical details and complications of ESD for early gastric cancer, including their management.

Leading-edge supercomputers,such as the K computer,have generated a vast amount of simulation results,and most of these datasets were stored on the file system for the post-hoc analysis such as *** this work,we first investigated the data generation trends of the K computer by analyzing some operational log data *** verified a tendency of generating large amounts of distributed files as simulation outputs,and in most cases,the number of files has been proportional to the number of utilized computational nodes,that is,each computational node producing one or more *** that the computational cost of visualization tasks is usually much smaller than that required for large-scale numerical simulations,a flexible data input/output(I/O)management mechanism becomes highly useful for the post-hoc visualization and *** this work,we focused on the xDMlib data management library,and its flexible data I/O mechanism in order to enable flexible data loading of big computational climate simulation *** the proposed approach,a pre-processing is executed on the target distributed files for generating a light-weight metadata necessary for the elaboration of the data assignment mapping used in the subsequent data loading *** evaluated the proposed approach by using a 32-node visualization cluster,and the K *** the inevitable performance penalty associated with longer data loading time,when using smaller number of processes,there is a benefit for avoiding any data replication via copy,conversion,or *** addition,users will be able to freely select any number of nodes,without caring about the number of distributed files,for the post-hoc visualization and analysis purposes.
