Hydrocarbon generating-potential and maturity-related changes of the Khatatba Formation, Western Desert, Egypt

The petroliferous province of the Western Desert comprises several sedimentary basins with different hydrocarbon potentiality and production *** middle Jurassic Khatatba Formation was proved a potential source rock in some basins and active/effective in *** current study aims to give a comprehensive assessment and evaluation of the potential organic-rich intervals of the Khatatba Formation across JG and JD fields,northeast Abu Gharadig Basin(NEAG).The hydrocarbon generating capability and sourcing of the Khatatba Formation studied through organic geochemistry calibrated with well ***,the efficiency of some widely used plots of geochemistry is re-evaluated according to their accuracy and *** cuttings,thirteen cores and two oil samples obtained from three wells(JG-2,JG-3 and JD-4)were *** samples revealed total organic carbon(TOC)values ranging from 1 to 9 wt%,exhibiting a good-excellent potential source rock.A single sample in the JD-4 well attained a TOC value of 21.3 wt%with a generating potential(represented by S2 parameter)exceeding 146 mgHc/g rock required a special *** of the samples(mainly in the JD-4 well)attained a sufficient level of thermal maturity for hydrocarbon generation with a Tmax up to 449*** vitrinite reflectance(%Ro)values(a common maturity-related indicator)acquired from the JD-4 well ranging between 0.76%and 0.92%.These values are tediously increasing with depth indicating a uniform geothermal *** Khatatba organofacies,with wide variety of kerogen types(I,II,II-S and II/III),contain marine organic matter with a slight terrigenous input,exhibiting anoxic-suboxic environmental ***-source correlations define the organic-rich intervals responsible for charging the accumulated hydrocarbon in the NEAG concession.

Surface activation of viscose textiles via air,argon,and oxygen dielectric barrier discharge plasma:influence of peak voltage

This paper discusses the use of atmospheric pressure dielectric barrier discharge(DBD)plasma treatment to enhance the surface qualities of viscose *** study explores the effects of different plasma gases,discharge voltages,and exposure times on the treated *** findings emphasize the importance of optimizing the plasma's peak voltage to achieve the desired surface treatment *** document also presents data on colour strength,wettability,colour fastness,and tensile strength of the treated fabrics,as well as scanning electron microscopy(SEm)analysis of surface morphology and chemical analysis using fouriertransition infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)and energy dispersive X-ray(EDX).The results show that treatment at a peak voltage of 11.83 k V is more efficient,except for the tensile strength which is enhanced at a peak voltage of 8.92 k *** oxygen plasma treatment significantly improves the colour strength,which exhibits an increase from 11 to *** intensified colour was attributed to the significant influence of electrostatic interactions between the charged hydroxyl groups of the oxygen plasma treated viscose textiles and the dye molecules,which enhance the *** oxygen DBD plasma exhibits a higher ability to enhance the properties of textiles when compared to air and argon *** study presents a sustainable,economical,secure,and ecologically friendly approach to explore new fabrics for specific uses.

Thyroid hormones play essential roles in spermatogenesis,but their effects on infertile males remain poorly *** study aimed to evaluate the impact of combining carbimazole(CBZ)with vitamin E(VE)on testicular injury induced by experimental hyperthyroidism in adult albino rats,focusing on oxidative,inflammatory,and apoptotic *** this experimental study,64 adult male albino Wistar rats were divided into eight groups:Group I(control-untreated),Group II(CBZ-control),Group III(VE-control),Group IV(CBZ+VE-control),Group V(levothyroxine-induced testicular injury),Group VI(levothyroxine+CBZ-treated),Group VII(levothyroxine+VE-treated),and Group VIII(levothyroxine+CBZ+VE-treated).The study was conducted in the Faculty of medicine,Suez Canal University(Ismailia,Egypt).After cervical decapitation,both testes and epididymis were examined histopathologically and *** differences were observed among groups concerning malondialdehyde(mDA),glutathione(GSH),superoxide dismutase(SOD),and catalase(CAT;all Pmerase chain reaction analysis showed significant differences in tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),interleukin-10(IL-10),Bcl-2-associated X protein(BAX),B-cell lymphoma 2 protein(Bcl2),p53,Caspase-3,Caspase-8,Caspase-9,and nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-κB)mRNA levels(all Pminiferous tubules and ***,the Group VIII showed improved spermatogenesis and a decrease in testicular side *** addition of VE to the treatment of hyperthyroid rats with CBZ reduced testicular side effects and seminiferous tubular affection when potentially improving *** research is needed to elucidate the underlying mechanisms fully.

Experimental and numerical investigation of iron ore pellet firing using coupled CFD-DEm method

Iron ore pellets are the main feedstock in ironmaking processes. While extensive research has addressed numerical modeling of the iron ore pellet induration process, little effort has been made to describe the intricate thermochemical processes occurring within the reactor starting from the pellet and particularly at the intra-particle scale. In this regard, discrete-continuous methods like CFD-DEm can generate more realistic, irregular particle assemblies, which leads to significantly more accurate predictions of voidage variation, wall effects, temperature distribution, and associated mass transfer phenomena. This study presents a numerical model based on computational fluid dynamics (CFD) coupled with the discrete element method (DEm) to simulate the thermal induration process of iron ore pellets. The presented model solving heat, mass, and momentum conservation equations for both continuous and discrete phases, provides detailed information on the thermochemical aspects of the process. Pilot-scale induration experiment was conducted to validate model predictions in terms of thermal history and final conversion fraction. It was found that inlet charge specifications, such as particle and pellet size, significantly impact the productivity of pelletizing plants, highlighting the potential of the presented model to optimize the process and improve plant productivity.

Comparative study between three carbonaceous nanoblades and nanodarts for antimicrobial applications

The design of nanostructured materials occupies a privileged position in the development and management of affordable and effective technology in the antibacterial ***,we discuss the antimicrobial properties of three carbonaceous nanoblades and nanodarts materials of graphene oxide(GO),reduced graphene oxide(RGO),and single-wall carbon nanotubes(SWCNTs)that have a mechano-bactericidal effect,and the ability to piercing or slicing bacterial *** demonstrate the significance of size,morphology and composition on the antibacterial activity mechanism,the designed nanomaterials have been *** minimum inhibitory concentration(mIC),standard agar well diffusion,and transmission electron microscopy were utilized to evaluate the antibacterial activity of GO,RGO,and *** on the evidence obtained,the three carbonaceous materials exhibit activity against all microbial strains tested by completely encapsulating bacterial cells and causing morphological disruption by degrading the microbial cell membrane in the order of RGO>GO>*** of the external cell wall structure and outer membrane proteins,the synthesized carbonaceous nanomaterials exhibited higher antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacterial strains than Gram-negative and fungal *** had the lowest mIC values(0.062,0.125,and 0.25 mg/mL against ***,***,and ***,respectively),as well as minimum fungal concentrations(0.5 mg/mL for both *** and ***).At 12 hr,the cell viability values against tested microbial strains were completely *** lysis and death occurred as a result of severe membrane damage caused by microorganisms perched on RGO *** work gives an insight into the design of effective graphene-based antimicrobial materials for water treatment and remediation.

A cleaner production strategy for acid mine drainage prevention of waste rock:A porphyry copper case

An in-process technology approach is proposed to identify the source of acid mine drainage(AmD)generation and prevent its formation in a porphyry copper waste rock(WR).Adopting actions before stockpiling the WR enables the establishment of potential contaminants and predicts the more convenient method for AmD prevention.A WR sample was separated into size fractions,and the WR’s net acidgenerating potential was quantified using chemical and mineralogical *** diameter of physical locking of sulfides(DPLS)was determined,and the fractions below the DPLS were desulfurized using ***,the WR fractions and tailing from the flotation test were submitted to acid-base accounting and weathering tests to evaluate their acid-generating *** show that the WR’s main sulfide mineral is pyrite,and the DPLS was defined as 850μm.A sulfide recovery of 91%was achieved using a combination of HydroFloat^(®)and Denver cells for a size fraction lower than *** grinding was *** results show that size fractions greater than DPLS and the desulfurized WR are unlikely to produce *** outcomes show that in-processing technology can be a more proactive approach and an effective tool for avoiding AmD in a porphyry copper WR.

Side lobe level reduction(SLL)of antenna arrays significantly enhances the signal-to-interference ratio and improves the quality of service(QOS)in recent and future wireless communication systems starting from 5G up to ***,it improves the array gain and directivity,increasing the detection range and angular resolution of radar *** study proposes two highly efficient SLL reduction *** techniques are based on the hybridization between either the single convolution or the double convolution algorithms and the genetic algorithm(GA)to develop the Conv/GA andDConv/GA,*** convolution process determines the element’s excitations while the GA optimizes the element *** m elements linear antenna array(LAA),the convolution of the excitation coefficients vector by itself provides a new vector of excitations of length N=(2m−1).This new vector is divided into three different sets of excitations including the odd excitations,even excitations,and middle excitations of lengths m,m−1,andm,*** the same element spacing as the original LAA is used,it is noticed that the odd and even excitations provide a much lower SLL than that of the LAA but with amuch wider half-power beamwidth(HPBW).While the middle excitations give the same HPBWas the original LAA with a relatively higher *** the increased HPBWof the odd and even excitations,the element spacing is optimized using the ***,the synthesized arrays have the same HPBW as the original LAA with a two-fold reduction in the ***,for extreme SLL reduction,the DConv/GA is *** this technique,the same procedure of the aforementioned Conv/GA technique is performed on the resultant even and odd excitation *** provides a relatively wider HPBWthan the original LAA with about quad-fold reduction in the SLL.

Intermittent fasting(IF)is an intervention that involves not only dietary modific-ations but also behavioral changes with the main core being a period of fasting alternating with a period of controlled *** duration of fasting differs from one regimen to *** fasting(RF)is a religious fasting for muslims,it lasts for only one month every one lunar *** this model of fasting,observers abstain from food and water for a period that extends from dawn to *** period of daily fasting is variable(12-18 hours)as Ramadan rotates in all seasons of the ***,longer duration of daily fasting is observed during the *** fact,RF is a peculiar type of *** is a dry IF as no water is allowed during the fasting hours,also there are no calorie restrictions during feeding hours,and the mealtime is exclusively *** three variables of the RF model are believed to have a variable impact on different liver *** was evaluated by different observational and interventional studies among patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and it was associated with improve-ments in anthropometric measures,metabolic profile,and liver biochemistry regardless of the calorie restriction among lean and obese *** situation is rather different for patients with liver *** was associated with adverse events among patients with liver cirrhosis irrespective of the underlying etiology of *** patients developed new ascites,ascites were increased,had higher serum bilirubin levels after Ramadan,and frequently developed hepatic encephalopathy and acute upper gastrointestinal *** complications were higher among patients with Child class B and C cirrhosis,and some fatalities occurred due to *** transplant recipients as a special group of patients,are vulnerable to dehydration,fluctuation in blood immunosuppressive levels,likelihood of deterioration and hence observing RF without special precautions
