Transfer Learning-based Computer-aided Diagnosis System for Predicting Grades of Diabetic Retinopathy

Diabetic retinopathy(DR)diagnosis through digital fundus images requires clinical experts to recognize the presence and importance of many intricate *** task is very difficult for ophthalmologists and ***,many computer-aided diagnosis(CAD)systems were developed to automate this screening process *** this paper,aCAD-DR system is proposed based on preprocessing and a pre-train transfer learningbased convolutional neural network(PCNN)to recognize the five stages of DR through retinal fundus *** develop this CAD-DR system,a preprocessing step is performed in a perceptual-oriented color space to enhance the DR-related lesions and then a standard pre-train PCNN model is improved to get high classification *** architecture of the PCNN model is based on three main ***,the training process of the proposed PCNN is accomplished by using the expected gradient length(eGL)to decrease the image labeling efforts during the training of the CNN ***,themost informative patches and images were automatically selected using a few pieces of training labeled ***,the PCNN method generated useful masks for prognostication and identified regions of ***,the DR-related lesions involved in the classification task such as micro-aneurysms,hemorrhages,and exudates were detected and then used for recognition of *** PCNN model is pre-trained using a high-end graphical processor unit(GPU)on the publicly available Kaggle *** obtained results demonstrate that the CAD-DR system outperforms compared to other state-of-the-art in terms of sensitivity(Se),specificity(SP),and accuracy(ACC).On the test set of 30,000 images,the CAD-DR system achieved an average Se of 93.20%,SP of 96.10%,and ACC of 98%.This result indicates that the proposed CAD-DR system is appropriate for the screening of the severity-level of DR.

A crescent-shape granitic stock and associated dykes is located to the east Gabal Nuqra at the extreme western part of Wadi Natash,South eastern Desert,*** examined granites are classified as alkali-feldspar granites and mainly consist of quartz,potash feldspars,plagioclases,and ***,zircon,apatite and allanite are accessories representing the source of Y,U,Th and Rees in these *** granites are characterized by high K2O,Na2O and Zn contents and Rb/Sr ***,they are highly enriched in high field strength elements(HFSe),especially Zr(1529×10-6),Nb(100×10-6),Hf(91×10-6) and Y(624×10-6) and light rare-earth elements(LRee,141×10-6) concentrations and strongly depleted in Ca,Mg,Sr and eu *** features suggest that they are similar to A-type granites(type-2).The rhyolite dykes and granites have similar geochemical characteristics whereas the chondrite-normalized Ree patterns show a LRee enriched feature with strong negative eu-anomaly,whereas the Ree pattern of trachydacites show slightly fractionated pattern with no *** is suggested that the trachydacites were generated by small degree of partial-melting deep-seated basic *** liquid,when subjected to fractional crystallization involving separation of plagioclases as residue,generated the alkali-feldspar *** further fractional crystallization gave rise to the alkali *** igneous rock suite originated from metaluminous to alkaline trachytic magma,and was developed in a within-plate tectonic *** extension caused by NW-Se right-lateral shear in area led to the emplacement of the alkali-feldspar *** later extrusion of the alkali rhyolite and trachydacite dykes was due to cauldron subsidence.

Direct Power Control Based on Dead-beat Function and extended Kalman Filter for PV Systems

In this paper,a new proposal for the implementation of the well-known direct power control(DPC)technique in grid-connected photovoltaic(PV)systems is ***,the DPC is executed using a look-up table procedure based on the error between the actual and reference values of the active and reactive ***,the structure of the DPC is simple and results in a fast transient behavior of the inner current loop(injected currents).Therefore,in the current study,the DPC is reformulated using a dead-beat *** this formulation,the reference voltage vector(RVV)is obtained in theα-βreference ***,the switching states for the inverter can be obtained based on the sign of the components of the *** suggested DPC is compared with the conventional one and other switching tables,which are intended for performance ***,an extended Kalman filter(eKF)is utilized to eliminate all grid-voltage ***,the switching frequency of the proposed technique is minimized without any need for weighting factors or cost function *** overall control technique is validated using a hardware-in-the-loop(HIL)experimental set-up and compared with other schemes under different operating conditions.

Computer vision is one of the significant trends in computer *** plays as a vital role in many applications,especially in the medical *** detection and segmentation of different tumors is a big challenge in the medical *** proposed framework uses ultrasound images from Kaggle,applying five diverse models to denoise the images,using the best possible noise-free image as input to the U-Net model for segmentation of the tumor,and then using the Convolution Neural Network(CNN)model to classify whether the tumor is benign,malignant,or *** main challenge faced by the framework in the segmentation is the speckle ***’s is a multiplicative and negative issue in breast ultrasound imaging,because of this noise,the image resolution and contrast become reduced,which affects the diagnostic value of this imaging *** result,speckle noise reduction is very vital for the segmentation *** framework uses five models such as Generative Adversarial Denoising Network(DGAN-Net),Denoising U-Shaped Net(D-U-NeT),Batch Renormalization U-Net(Br-UNeT),Generative Adversarial Network(GAN),and Nonlocal Neutrosophic ofWiener Filtering(NLNWF)for reducing the speckle noise from the breast ultrasound images then choose the best image according to peak signal to noise ratio(PSNR)for each level of *** five used methods have been compared with classical filters such as Bilateral,Frost,Kuan,and Lee and they proved their efficiency according to PSNR in different levels of *** five diverse models are achieved PSNR results for speckle noise at level(0.1,0.25,0.5,0.75),(33.354,29.415,27.218,24.115),(31.424,28.353,27.246,24.244),(32.243,28.42,27.744,24.893),(31.234,28.212,26.983,23.234)and(33.013,29.491,28.556,25.011)forDGAN,Br-U-NeT,D-U-NeT,GANand NLNWF *** to the value of PSNR and level of speckle noise,the best image passed for segmentation using U-Net and classification usingCNNto detect tumor *** experiments proved

A solution of UAV localization problem using an interacting multiple nonlinear fuzzy adaptive H_(∞)models filter algorithm

The purpose of this research is to improve the robustness of the autonomous system in order to improve the position and velocity estimation of an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV).Therefore, new integrated SINS/GPS navigation scheme based on Interacting Multiple Nonlinear Fuzzy Adaptive H_∞ Models(IMM-NFAH_∞) filtering technique for UAV is presented. The proposed IMM-NFAH_∞ strategy switches between two different Nonlinear Fuzzy Adaptive H_∞(NFAH_∞) filters and each NFAH_∞ filter is based on different fuzzy logic inference systems. The newly proposed technique takes into consideration the high order Taylor series terms and adapts the nonlinear H_∞ filter based on different fuzzy inference systems via adaptive filter bounds(di),along with disturbance attenuation parameter c. Simulation analysis validates the performance of the proposed algorithm, and the comparison with nonlinear H_∞(NH_∞) filter and that with different NFAH_∞ filters demonstrate the effectiveness of UAV localization utilizing IMM-NFAH_∞ filter.

Diabetes mellitus(DM)is a metabolic disorder that is characterized by elevated blood glucose levels due to absolute or relative insulin deficiency,in the background ofβ-cell dysfunction,insulin resistance,or *** chronic hyperglycemia is linked to long-term damage to blood vessels,nerves,and various ***,the worldwide burden of DM and its complications is in *** sexual dysfunction is one of the famous complications of DM,including abnormal orgasmic/ejaculatory functions,desire/libido,and *** dysfunction encompasses several disorders related to DM and its complications,such as premature ejaculation,anejaculation(Ae),delayed ejaculation,retrograde ejaculation(Re),ejaculatory pain,anesthetic ejaculation,decreased ejaculate volume,and decreased force of *** problems linked to ejaculatory dysfunction may extend beyond the poor quality of life in diabetics as both Ae and Re are alleged to alter the fertility potential of these ***,although both diabetes patients and their physicians are increasingly aware of diabetic ejaculatory dysfunction,this awareness still lags behind that of other diabetes ***,all these disorders should be looked for thoroughly during the clinical evaluation of diabetic ***,introducing the suitable option and/or maneuvers to treat these disorders should be tailored according to each *** review aimed to explore the most important findings regarding ejaculatory dysfunction in diabetes from pre-clinical and clinical perspectives.

Video capsule endoscopy:Perspectives of a revolutionary technique

Video capsule endoscopy (VCe) was launched in 2000 and has revolutionized direct endoscopic imaging of the gut. VCe is now a first-line procedure for exploring the small bowel in cases of obscure digestive bleeding and is also indicated in some patients with Crohn’s disease, celiac disease, and polyposis syndrome. A video capsule has also been designed for visualizing the esophagus in order to detect Barrett’s esophagus or esophageal varices. Different capsules are now available and differ with regard to dimensions, image acquisition rate, battery life, field of view, and possible optical enhancements. More recently, the use of VCe has been extended to exploring the colon. Within the last 5 years, tremendous developments have been made toward increasing the capabilities of the colon capsule. Although colon capsule cannot be proposed as a first-line colorectal cancer screening procedure, colon capsule may be used in patients with incomplete colonoscopy or in patients who are unwilling to undergo colonoscopy. In the near future, new technological developments will improve the diagnostic yield of VCe and broaden its therapeutic capabilities.

Multitarget therapeutic strategies for Alzheimer's disease

Neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's, Huntington's and Parkinson's diseases have multifaceted nature because of the different factors contributing to their progression. The complex nature of neurodegenerative diseases has developed a pressing need to design multitarget-directed ligands to address the complementary pathways involved in these diseases. The major enzyme targets for development of therapeutics for Alzheimer's disease are cholinesterase and β-secretase enzymes. In this review, we discuss recent advances in profiling single target inhibitors based on these enzymes to multitarget-directed ligands as potential therapeutics for this devastating disease. In addition, therapeutics based on iron chelation strategy are discussed as well.

People started posting textual tweets on Twitter as soon as the novel coronavirus(COVID-19)*** these tweets can assist institutions in better decision-making and prioritizing their ***,this study aimed to analyze 43 million tweets collected between March 22 and March 30,2020 and describe the trend of public attention given to the topics related to the COVID-19 epidemic using evolutionary clustering *** results indicated that unigram terms were trended more frequently than bigram and trigram terms.A large number of tweets about the COVID-19 were disseminated and received widespread public attention during the *** high-frequency words such as“death”,“test”,“spread”,and“lockdown”suggest that people fear of being infected,and those who got infection are afraid of *** results also showed that people agreed to stay at home due to the fear of the spread,and they were calling for social distancing since they become aware of the *** can be suggested that social media posts may affect human psychology and *** results may help governments and health organizations to better understand the psychology of the public,and thereby,better communicate with them to prevent and manage the panic.

Synthesis and surface modification of nanophosphorous-based flame retardant agent by continuous flow hydrothermal synthesis

Nanoparticles can provide flame retardance to hosting polymers and act as nano fire extinguishers. Hydroxyapatite （Ca5（OH）（PO4）3）（HA） is not hygroscopic, and is thermally stable up to 800℃, with 18.5 wt% phosphorous content. It is this high phosphorous content that can provide HA with flame retardant properties. In this paper, we report on the continuous synthesis of ultrafine HA using a hydrothermal synthesis technique. The HA surface properties were changed from hydrophilic to hydrophobic by post-synthesis surface modification. The ratio of the HA nanoparticles and an intumescent agent known as exolit AP750 was investigated to yield a self-extinguishing multi-component epoxy nanocomposite for extended application under extreme fire conditions. The HA/AP750/epoxy nanocomposite was able to resist a flame at 1700 oc and self-extinguish after the flame had been removed. The nanocomposite showed an enhanced flammability performance in standard cone calorimetry testing and formed a compact and cohesive protective char layer with a 50% decrease in peak heat released compared with virgin epoxy. Our aim was to establish the use of HA as an effective nanofiller with phosphorous-based flame retardant properties. The surface of this nano fire extinguisher was modified effectively with different surfactants for enhanced compatibility with different polymeric matrices.
