Cooked rice and the vegetables like lettuce are common kitchen waste,which are carbonaceous materials and have the potential as feedstock for the production of activated *** is similar to hydrothermal treatment(HTC),which might impact the subsequent activation of kitchen *** this study,the HTC of lettuce,rice,or their mixture and the activation of the resulting hydrochars were *** results indicated that cross-polymerization between the N-containing organics from lettuce and the sugar derivatives from rice took place in their co-HTC,which significantly increased the hydrochar *** of the hydrochar from the coHTC generated the AC with a yield of 2 times that from direct activation of mixed lettuce/***,the coHTC facilitated aromatization,reducing reactivity with K2C2O4in activation and producing the AC with main micropores and low specific surface *** of the hydrochar from HTC of rice followed the above trend,while that from lettuce was the *** organics in lettuce were thermally unstable and could not undergo sufficient *** activation of hydrochar from HTC of lettuce thus generated the AC with the lowest yield,but the highest specific surface area(1684.9 m2/g),abundant mesopores,and superior capability for adsorption of ***,the environmental impacts and energy consumption for the production of AC from the hydrochar of lettuce were higher than that from hydrochar of co-HTC.

The hydrogel wound dressing based on polyvinyl alcohol （PVA） was prepared by the freezing-thawing cyclic method. The dehydration kinetics of prepared hydrogels was determined using the experimental method and mathematical modeling based on diffusion mechanism. The results show that the dehydration rate of PVA hydrogel wound dressing inversely depends on the hydrogel thickness as well as water content of the wound. On the other hand, the initial water content of hydrogel and the atmospheric humidity have little direct effect on the dehydration rate. The good agreement between experimental and mathematical modeling results in early stages of dehydration process shows that the predominate factor determining the dehydration of these wound dressings is diffusion.

Abiotic stresses at different growth stages in the life of plants negatively affect yield ***,plants,including Amaranthus hypochondriacus,develop adaptive strategies to face the stresses and expand functional *** plants,the mitochondrial transcription termination factors(mTERF)are essential functions in regulation,and organelles(mitochondria and chloroplasts)control gene expression(OGE)under several stress *** on the in-silico-wide genome and transcriptome analysis,twenty-four mTERF genes were detected in the main targeted mitochondria organelles clustered into three different main *** chromosomal location and gene duplication analysis indicated one segmental and one tandem duplication in the *** promoter region cis-elements assessment showed that there wasa high correlation between the growth and development process,stress,and hormone responses of these *** profiling of mTERF genes under salt stress revealed a total number of 24 gene families with seven upregulated and 6 down-regulated genes in drought and salt ***,Ah-mTERF-8 and 14 indicated up-regulation under drought ***-mTERF-4,6,14,15,17,and 20 were up-regulated under salt *** characterization and identification through the in-silico study of the specific genes and their differential expression profiling demonstrated the role of mTERF proteins throughout their reaction to growth and development,during stress in *** results demonstrated that mTERF genes were significantly related to the abiotic stress responses.

An accurate retransmission timeout estimator for content-centric networking based on the Jacobson algorithm

Accurately estimating of Retransmission TimeOut (RTO) in Content-Centric Networking (CCN) is crucial for efficient rate control in end nodes and effective interface ranking in intermediate routers. Toward this end, the Jacobson algorithm, which is an Exponentially Weighted Moving Average (EWMA) on the Round Trip Time (RTT) of previous packets, is a promising scheme. Assigning the lower bound to RTO, determining how an EWMA rapidly adapts to changes, and setting the multiplier of variance RTT have the most impact on the accuracy of this estimator for which several evaluations have been performed to set them in Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) networks. However, the performance of this estimator in CCN has not been explored yet, despite CCN having a significant architectural difference with TCP/IP networks. In this study, two new metrics for assessing the performance of RTO estimators in CCN are defined and the performance of the Jacobson algorithm in CCN is evaluated. This evaluation is performed by varying the minimum RTO, EWMA parameters, and multiplier of variance RTT against different content popularity distribution gains. The obtained results are used to reconsider the Jacobson algorithm for accurately estimating RTO in CCN. Comparing the performance of the reconsidered Jacobson estimator with the existing solutions shows that it can estimate RTO simply and more accurately without any additional information or computation overhead.

The plant cellulose powder was activated by two different methods using 1,4-butanediol diglycidyl ether(BTDE)and 1,1′-Carbonyldiimidazole(CDI) as the chemical coupling *** hydrolase(OPH) from Flavobacterium ATCC 27551 was immobilized on any of activated support through covalent *** optimal conditions of affecting parameters on enzyme immobilization in both methods were found, and it was demonstrated that the highest activity yields of immobilized OPH onto epoxy and CDI treated cellulose were 68.32%and 73.51%, *** surface treatment of cellulose via covalent coupling with BTDE and CDI agents was proved by FTIR *** kinetic constants of the free and immobilized enzymes were determined, and it was showed that both immobilization techniques moderately increased the Kmvalue of the free *** improvements in storage and thermal stability were investigated and depicted that the half-life of immobilized OPH over the surface of epoxy modified cellulose had a better growth compared to the free and immobilized enzymes onto CDI treated ***, the pH stability of the immobilized preparations was enhanced relative to the free counterpart and revealed that all enzyme samples would have the same optimum pH value for stability at ***, the immobilized OPH onto epoxy and CDI activated cellulose retained about 59% and 68% of their initial activity after ten turns of batch operation, *** results demonstrated the high performance of OPH enzyme in immobilized state onto an inexpensive support with the potential of industrial applications.

It is critical to study efficient,stable oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)electrocatalysts due to insufficient stability and expensive price of Pt/C catalysts for Zn-air ***–N–C electrocatalysts was synthesized by a facile solvent-green method and the efficiency of Fe–N–C optimized was studied as potential ORR electrocatalysts under alkaline *** indicated that it had excellent ORR activity with E_(1/2)of 0.93 V,which was competitive to that of Pt/C-JM under the same ***,the assembled Zn-air battery exhibited discharge potential and charge potential of 1.2 V,2.32 V at 5 mA cm^(−2)with high stability,***,all results illustrated that Fe–N–C is an excellent ORR electrocatalyst in the field of metal air ***,this work opens a good way to synthesize highly efficient electrocatalysts from metal organic framework and to investigate ORR mechanism of efficient chemical energy to electricity conversion.

Objective:Germline mutations in mismatch repair(MMR)genes cause Lynch syndrome(LS).LS is an inherited disease,and an important consequence of MMR deficiency is microsatellite instability(MSI)*** phenotype influences the efficacy of5 fluorouracil(5-FU)***,cost effective,and easy to perform laboratory tests are required to include MSI detection in routine laboratory *** of CAT25 as monomorphic short tandem repeat sequence enables CAT25 to be an efficient screening tool among hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer(HNPCC)patients compared with other methods used ***:Based on Amsterdam II criteria,31 patients in 31 families were shortlisted from a total number of 1,659 colorectal cancer *** status was examined in these patients using CAT25 and a commercially available Promega MSI five-markerbased detection system as well as immunohistochemical(IHC)staining of four important MMR *** were scored as high microsatellite instable(MSI-H),low(MSI-L),or stable(MSS).MSI status determined by CAT25 single mononucleotide marker was compared with that of five mononucleotide markers,Promega commercial kit,and IHC ***:MMR protein deficiency was observed on 7/31 probands using IHC methodology and 6/31 categorized as MSI-H using commercial kit or CAT25 single *** sensitivity and specificity of the CAT25 single marker were the same as those detected by five-marker Promega commercial kit in our ***:Based on our results,the performance of the CAT25 single mononucleotide marker for MSI status determination in our HNPCC patients is the same as that of the five-marker-based commercial kit.
