Congenita. unila.era. lower lip pa.sy (CULLP), or congenita. hypopla.ia.of the depressor a.guli oris muscle, a.so known a. a.ymmetric crying fa.ies, is a.ra.e condition tha. results in a.ymmetry of the lower lip during smiling, la.ghing, a.d crying. a.though the etiology is unknown, wea.ness of the depressor la.ii inferioris (DLI) muscle is implica.ed a. a.contributing fa.tor. Currently, no well-esta.lished trea.ment options a.e a.a.la.le. This ca.e report describes a. 18-yea.-old ma.e pa.ient dia.nosed with CULLP. Physica. exa.ina.ion revea.ed a.symmetric fa.e a. rest, but a.ymmetry when smiling a.d opening the mouth. Following the a.ministra.ion of lidoca.ne into the a.fected DLI muscle, the pa.ient's smile a.d lower lip symmetry were immedia.ely restored without a.y a.verse effects. Subsequently, a.ministra.ion of botulinum toxin for neuromodula.ion of the DLI muscle led to a.significa.t improvement in symmetry a.d ora. function within 2 weeks, which wa. susta.ned a. 1 month a.d 3 months post-trea.ment. No a.verse effects were reported, a.d both pa.ients a.d fa.ilies expressed high sa.isfa.tion with the outcomes. This ca.e highlights the potentia. use of neuromodula.ion a. a.minima.ly inva.ive a.d effective trea.ment for CULLP. © 2024 China.Medica. Cosmetology Press Co. Ltd.

Objective: To a.sess the effect of selective serotonin reupta.e inhibitors (SSRIs) a.d tricyclic a.tidepressa.ts (TCa.) in reducing vertigo, tinnitus, a.d hea.ing loss a.ong pa.ients with Meniere''s disea.e (MD).Da.a.Sources: The following da.a.a.es were utilized in this scoping review: Ovid Medline, PubMed-NCBI, CINa.L, Cochra.e Libra.y, Web of Science, a.d ***: Studies were identified through the following sea.ch phra.es: "serotonin specific reupta.e inhibitors" OR "tricyclic a.tidepressa.ts" a.D "Meniere''s disea.e." References from included ma.uscripts were exa.ined for possible inclusion of a.ditiona. ***: The litera.ure sea.ch yielded 23 results, which were screened by three independent reviewers. Seventeen studies a.d three duplica.es were excluded. a. exa.ina.ion of references from the included studies yielded two a.ditiona. publica.ions. a.tota. of four published studies a.sessing SSRIs a.d TCa. a.ong 147 pa.ients with MD were ultima.ely included. Four studies described significa.t reductions in vertigo a.ta.k frequency a.ong pa.ients trea.ed with either SSRIs or TCa. compa.ed to their pretrea.ment ba.eline. Three studies a.sessed the drugs'' effects on hea.ing, of which none found a.significa.t difference a.ong pa.ients trea.ed with SSRIs or TCa.. One study found a.significa.t decrea.e in pa.ient-reported tinnitus following trea.ment with TCa. or SSRIs compa.ed to their pretrea.ment ***: Da.a.exploring SSRIs a.d TCa. a.ong pa.ients with MD suggests tha. these medica.ions ma. reduce the frequency of tinnitus a.d vertigo, a.though there wa. significa.t heterogeneity in outcome reporting. Noroviruses (NoVs) a.e the most significa.t vira. pa.hogens a.socia.ed with wa.erborne a.d foodborne outbrea.s of nonba.teria. a.ute ga.troenteritis in huma.s worldwide. This study a.med to investiga.e the preva.ence a.d diversity of NoVs conta.ina.ed in the environmenta. wa.er in Chia.g Ma., Tha.la.d. a.tota. of 600 environmenta. wa.er sa.ples were collected from ten sa.pling sites in Chia.g Ma. from July 2020 to December 2022. The presence of NoV genogroups I (GI), GII, a.d GIV were exa.ined using rea.-time RT-PCR a.sa.. The genotype of the virus wa. determined by nucleotide sequencing a.d phylogenetic a.a.ysis. The results showed tha. NoV GI a.d GII were detected a. 8.5% (51/600) a.d 11.7% (70/600) of the sa.ples tested, respectively. However, NoV GIV wa. not detected in this study. NoV circula.ed throughout the yea., with a.higher detection ra.e during the winter sea.on. Six NoV GI genotypes (GI.1-GI.6) a.d eight NoV GII genotypes (GII.2, GII.3, GII.7, GII.8, GII.10, GII.13, GII.17, a.d GII.21) were identified. a.ong 121 NoV stra.ns detected, GII.17 wa. the most predomina.t genotype (24.8%, 30 stra.ns), followed by GII.2 (21.5%, 26 stra.ns), GI.3 (17.4%, 21 stra.ns), a.d GI.4 (16.5%, 20 stra.ns). Nota.ly, NoV GII.3, GII.7, GII.8, a.d GII.10 were detected for the first time in wa.er sa.ples in this a.ea. This study provides insight into the occurrence a.d sea.ona. pa.tern of NoV a.ong with novel findings of NoV stra.ns in environmenta. wa.er in Tha.la.d during the COVID-19 outbrea.. We report the ca.e of a.41 yea.- old woma. with no medica. pa.t history who developed during 2 yea.s successive pa.ulous skin eruptions. The la.ter a.wa.s resolved sponta.eously. Skin biopsy led to the dia.nosis showing typica. fea.ures of neutrophilic eccrine hidra.enitis. Discussion. Our ca.e is origina. beca.se the neutrophilic eccrine hidra.enitis ha. occured in a.hea.thy woma.. We developed FluTyping to identify Ia. genotypes, to explore overa.l genetic diversity pa.terns a.d their restriction fa.tors. FluTyping groups isola.es ba.ed on genetic dista.ce a.d phylogenetic rela.ionships using whole genomes, ena.ling identifica.ion of ea.h isola.e's genotype. Three distinct genetic diversity pa.terns were observed: one genotype domina.ion pa.tern comprising only H1N1 a.d H3N2 sea.ona. influenza.subtypes, multi-genotypes co-circula.ion pa.tern including ma.ority a.ia. influenza.subtypes a.d swine influenza.H1N2, a.d hybrid-circula.ion pa.tern involving H7N9 a.d three H5 subtypes of influenza.viruses. Furthermore, the Ia.s in multi-genotypes co-circula.ion pa.tern showed region-specific domina.t genotypes, implying the restriction of virus tra.smission is a.key fa.tor contributing to distinct genetic diversity pa.terns, a.d the genomic evolution underlying different pa.terns wa. more influenced by host-specific fa.tors.
