Water buffalo(Bubalus bubalis)and domestic cattle(Bos taurus)are closely related ***,embryo transfer interspecies has been attempted without any *** failure in hybrid embryo-implantation is associated with the glycocode in the maternal-fetal *** patterns have been studied in different species of ruminants;however,in ***,only the binucleated cells(BNC)have been *** glycocode is essential for a successful embryo-implantation and can be defined by Lectin-Histochemistry(LHC).The aim of this study is to compare the glycosylation pattern of placenta and uterus in water buffaloes and cattle by *** samples of placenta and uterus from pregnant Mediterranean female water buffaloes(Buf1)and Angus cows(Bov1)were *** animals were euthanized at 98 days of *** was carried out using twelve lectins(Con A,LCA,PSA,sWGA,PHA-e,SBA,UEA-1,WGA,RCA-1,PNA,DBA,BSA-1).The intensity of lectin binding was semiquantitatively scored using a scale of 0(negative)to 3(strongly positive).Difference between species was found in trophoblast layer by PSA,SWGA,PNA and BSA-1,in BNC,and in the mononuclear cells by LCA,PSA,PHA-e,DBA,BSA-1,*** utero,differences in the apical cellular membrane and the secretion of glands were identified by DBA and RCA-1,and in the cytoplasm of those glandular epithelial cells by PHA-e,BSA-1,WGA,and *** both species,BNC presented a strong positive reaction with DBA and SBA,a moderate response by LCA,PHA-e,BSA-1 and PNA lectin,and a low reaction by PSA,UEA-1,SWGA,WGA,Con A and *** results found in this study suggest that although both species are closely related,glycosylation patterns in the placenta and uterus are different,thus providing a possible reason for embryo transfer not being possible between these species.

Traditional grid computing focuses on the movement of data to compute resources and the management of large scale simulations. Data grid computing focuses on moving the operations to the storage location and on operations on data collections. We present three types of data grid operations that facilitate data driven research: the manipulation of time series data, the reproducible execution of workflows, and the mapping of data access to software-defined networks. These data grid operations have been implemented as operations on collections within the NSF DataNet Federation Consortium project. The operations can be applied at the remote resource where data are stored, improving the ability of researchers to interact with large collections.

＜正＞Huntingdon Life Sciences（HLS） is a leading non-clinical CRO for respiratory safety assessment, an expertise for which there is currently increasing demand as interest in inhaled delivery of drugs *** administration is the route of choice for a significant number of drugs,notably treatments for asthma and other respiratory tract disorders,but also for a widening range of nonrespiratory diseases,as a means of avoiding extensive first-pass *** poster focuses on improvements in animal welfare standards for large animal species that allow extended periods of inhaled delivery and thus provide greater safety margins when drugs progress to the *** methodology for dogs employs a new type of minimal restraint rather than the traditionally used and restrictive sling method. Urbanization affects vegetation within city administrative boundary and nearby rural *** primary production(GPP)of vegetation in global urban areas is one of important metrics for assessing the impacts of urbanization on terrestrial *** date,very limited data and information on the spatial-temporal dynamics of GPP in the global urban areas are *** this study,we reported the spatial distribution and temporal dynamics of annual GPP during 2000–2016 from 8,182 gridcells(0.5°by 0.5°latitude and longitude)that have various proportion of urban *** 79.3%of these urban gridcells had increasing trends of annual GPP during *** urban area proportion(%)within individual urban gridcells increased,the means of annual GPP trends also *** results suggested that for those urban gridcells,the negative effect of urban expansion(often measured by impervious surfaces)on GPP was to large degree compensated by increased vegetation within the gridcells,mostly driven by urban management and local climate and *** findings on the continued increases of annual GPP in most of urban gridcells shed new insight on the importance of urban areas on terrestrial carbon cycle and the potential of urban management and local climate and environment on improving vegetation in urban areas.

The resources available to an individual in any given environment are finite, and variation in life history traits reflect differential allocation of these resources to competing life functions. Nutritional quality of food is of particular importance in these life history decisions. In this study, we tested trade-offs among growth, immunity and survival in 3 groups of greater wax moth （Galleria mellonella） larvae fed on diets of high and average nutritional quality. We found rapid growth and weak immunity （as measured by encapsulation response） in the larvae of the high-energy food group. It took longer to develop on food of average nutritional quality. However, encapsulation response was stronger in this group. The larvae grew longer in the low-energy food group, and had the strongest encapsulation response. We observed the highest survival rates in larvae of the low-energy food group, while the highest mortality rates were observed in the high-energy food group. A significant negative correlation between body mass and the strength of encapsulation response was found only in the high-energy food group revealing significant competition between growth and immunity only at the highest rates of growth. The results of this study help to establish relationships between types of food, its nutritional value and life history traits of G. mellonella larvae.

迁徙鸟类能够预计到迁徙过程中对能量需求的增加和迁徙途中获得能量的不确定性。最佳迁徙理论指出 :迁徙停留期的一系列决策受到体内能量状态、取食机会和迁徙时间的影响。利用刚完成春季跨越墨西哥湾迁徙的鸫类 ,我们研究了取食行为、体内能量状态和能量积累速度的相互关系。我们用雾网捕获了停留的鸫 ,然后给每只鸟进行了环志和称重 ,并估测了表皮下积累的脂肪。为了检测体内能量积累大小对取食行为的影响 ,我们把在野外观察到的鸟分成肥、瘦两组。当一天里被捕获鸟的平均体重低于相关种的瘦体重时 ,这一天被观察到的取食鸟被归到瘦组 ,反之就属于肥组。我们同时对一部分鸟用有色环进行了标记 ,以便能在野外观察到它们时能准确地知道每一只鸟的初始能量积累状态。在春天完成跨越墨西哥湾迁徙以后的鸫大约有 5 0 %在到达停留地时就已经消耗了所有的表皮下脂肪。与肥组鸟相比 ,瘦组的个体在停留期扩展了取食方法和取食基底 ,增加了取食速度。与此相关的是 ,瘦鸟表现出体重积累更多、速度更快。我们的数据表明迁徙鸟在到达迁徙中途停留地时的能量状态会影响到它们停留期间的取食行为和继续迁徙时的生理机能。

Breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosis worldwide,ac-counting for a quarter of new cancer diagnoses in women *** 2020,there were 2.3 million women newly-diagnosed with breast can-cer and 7.8 million women living with a diagnosis within the past 5 years,making breast cancer the world’s most prevalent cancer as well.1 It is the second leading cause of cancer death among women worldwide,and fifth in mortality among all cancers(men and women combined)with approximately 685,000 deaths in 2020.1 While the global burden of breast cancer is rising,it varies greatly between countries(Fig.1).In 2020,China had the largest number of breast cancer cases(18.4%of the global total),followed by the US with 11.8%of total breast cancer cases.
