Synergistic enhancement of photocatalytic and antimicrobial efficacy of nitrogen and erbium co-doped ZnO nanoparticles

Using the chemical co-precipitation approach,a series of nitrogen(N) and erbium(Er) co-doped ZnO nanoparticles(NPs) was effectively synthesized to enhance the photocatalytic and antibacterial *** characterization techniques,including X-ray diffraction(XRD),X-ray photoelectron spectro scopy(XPS),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),UV-vis,and photoluminescence(PL) spectroscopy,were carried out to validate the evaluated photocatalytic and antibacterial *** analysis confirms the pure wurtzite ZnO phase without the presence of any secondary *** analysis confirms the succe ssful incorporation of nitrogen and erbium into the ZnO *** optical bandgap of ZnO calculated from UV-vis spectroscopy shows a redshift after Er-N co-doping,with the lowest bandgap of 3.215 eV calculated for Zn_(0.97)Er_(0.03)N_(0.01)O_(0.99) *** images demonstrate the formation of nanorods after N-Er co-doping,followed by gradually increase d rod diameter and length after N-Er ***,the photocatalytic activities of ZnO samples we re measured by their ability to facilitate the photodegradation of Rhodamine B under UV *** with 1 mol% N doping exhibits 88% photodegradation of RhB under UV light within 360 min,and the photodegradation and antibacterial activity are greatly improved with Er *** fact,3 mol% Er-1 mol% N doped ZnO NPs demonstrate the highest photocatalytic activity,with approximately 96% degradation after 360 min,as well as superior antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus(Gram-positive bacteria) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa(Gram-negative bacteria) with the highest zone of inhibition(ZOI) of 16 nm,due to nanorod formation,increased reactive oxygen species(ROS),and decreased electron-hole recombination,as validated by SEM,XPS,and PL spectroscopy.

This work presents a dual band epsilon negative(ENG)metamaterial with a bilateral coupled split ring resonator(SRR)for use in C and X band wireless communication *** traditional split-ring resonator(SRR)has been amended with this engineered *** proposed metamaterial unit cell is realized on the 1.6 mm thick FR-4 printed media with a dimension of 10×10 *** resonating patch built with a square split outer *** interlinked inner rings are coupled vertically to the outer ring to extend its electrical length as well as to tune the resonance *** simulation is performed using CST studio suite 2019 to design and performance *** transmission coefficient(S21)of the proposed unit cell and array configuration exhibits two resonances at 6.7 and 10.5 GHz with wide bandwidth extended from 4.86 to 8.06 GHz and 10.1 to 11.2 GHz,*** permittivity is noted at frequencies between 6.76–9.5 GHz and 10.5–12 GHz,consecutively,with near-zero refractive index and *** optimal EMR value depicts the compactness of the proposed *** 1×2,2×2 and 4×4 arrays are analyzed that shows similar response compared to the unit *** results of the 2×2 array shows the close similarity of S21 response as compared to *** observed properties of the proposed unit cell ascertain its suitability for wireless communications by enhancing the gain and directivity of the antenna system.

L-carnitine improves developmental competence of buffalo oocytes in vitro

Objective:To investigate the effect of L-carnitine on in vitro maturation and subsequent in vitro embryo production of buffalo ***:Cumulus oocyte complexes(COCs)were aspirated from ovaries of slaughtered *** were classified into good and fair qualities based on morphological observation of numbers and integrity of cumulus cells surrounding the *** categories of COCs were placed in in vitro maturation medium with supplementation of different concentrations(0,0.250,0.375 or 0.500 mg/mL)of *** from both qualities were in vitro fertilized and in vitro cultured for 7 days,to examine the developmental ***:Supplementation of L-carnitine to in vitro maturation medium increased the cumulus cell expansion rate of COCs to grade A,and reduced the cumulus cell expansion of COCs to grade B and grade C in both good and fair quality ***,L-carnitine induced the in vitro meiotic progression of buffalo oocytes to metaphaseⅡin both good and fair quality ***,L-carnitine reduced the rate of oocyte degeneration in both good and fair quality oocytes.L-carnitine increased the rate of cleaved formation at day 2 and blastocyst formation at day 7 during in vitro culture in both qualities of ***,a higher rate of blastocyst production was observed in L-carnitine-treated fair quality oocytes,which was higher than the results in the untreated good quality ***:L-carnitine enhances meiotic maturation and subsequent embryo development from both good and fair quality buffalo oocytes.

Extraction and characterization of alumina nanopowders from aluminum dross by acid dissolution process

A significant amount of aluminum dross is available as a waste in foundry industries in Bangladesh. In this study, alumina was ex- tracted from aluminum dross collected from two foundry industries situated in Dhamrai and Manikgang, near the capital city, Dhaka. Alu- minum dross samples were found to approximately contain 75wt% A1203 and 12wt% SIO2. An acid dissolution process was used to recover the alumina value from the dross. The effects of various parameters, e.g., temperature, acid concentration, and leaching time, on the extrac- tion of alumina were studied to optimize the dissolution process. First, AI（OH）3 was produced in the form of a gel. Calcination of the AI（OH）3 gel at 1000℃, 1200℃, and 1400℃ for 2 h produced O-AlcOa, （t~＋O）-A1203, and u-alumina powder, respectively. Thermal charac- terization of the AI（OH）3 gel was performed by thermogravimetric/differential thermal analysis （TG/DTA） and differential scanning calo- rimetry （DSC）. The phases and crystallite size of the alumina were determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. The dimensions of the alumina were found to be on the nano level. The chemical compositions of the aluminum dross and alumina were determined by X-ray fluorescence （XRF） spectroscopy. The microstructure and morphology of the alumina were studied with scanning electron microscopy. The purity of the alumina extracted in this study was found to be 99.0%. Thus, it is expected that the obtained alumina powders can be potentially utilized as biomaterials.

研究表明,采用协整方法,从1976到2016年,在年度数据的辅助下,外国直接投资和贸易存在着联系和影响,从而加速了孟加拉国的经济增长。外国直接投资和贸易变量对人均国内生产总值的增长率有相当大的影响。因为在孟加拉国,外国直接投资和贸易是经济增长的两个重要组成部分;它正在减少资本流动的障碍以及促进增长的框架政策。孟加拉国目前的外国直接投资情况仍未达到令人满意的水平。在过去的十年里,外国投资使孟加拉国等资本匮乏的国家能够建立资本,发展工业和转型经济,实现商业自由化,促进宏观经济增长。评估框架的有效性需要改变来促进货币管理,并改善经营状况。此外,应该落实消除官僚作风节以及简化贸易制度的政策。影响孟加拉国直接投资的因素有基础设施薄弱,缺乏技术劳动力以及技术的提升,存在政治不稳定以及官僚主义的弊端。与过去十年相比,近年来,孟加拉国在国际贸易中有了相当大的增长。在适当的补充政策下,贸易可以为生产力增长,充足的就业机会以及增加消费者选择提供稳定的基础。全球经济环境的变化反映了对外直接投资和贸易的国际联系日益扩大和不断升级。孟加拉国的出口贸易主要依靠一些传统商品;其出口商品受到限制。在过去的二十年里,政府和有关部门都在强调成衣,冷冻食品,农产品等。出口可以引领经济增长的初期阶段,之后依赖外国直接投资可能是现实的选择。根据结果显示,贸易贡献促进孟加拉国的经济增长比外国直接投资重要得多。然而,可利用的丰富资源,熟练而廉价的劳动力,稳定的政治环境,有效的货币政策,基础设施的完善以及适当刺激外国投资的战略计划,都有可能创造有利的环境来吸引更多的外国直接投资进入孟加拉国。

Geochemical characteristics of Holocene sediments from Chuadanga district, Bangladesh: Implications for weathering, climate, redox conditions, provenance and tectonic setting

The present research deals with the geochemical characteristics of the Holocene sediments from Alamdanga area, Chuadanga district, Bangladesh. Main goals of the study are to delineate source rock characteristics, degree of chemical weathering and sorting processes and behavior of redox conditions during deposition of the sediments. Geochemical characteristics of the sediments show comparatively a wide variation in accordance with stratigraphy in their major element contents(e.g. Si O2 69.46–82.13, Al2O3 2.28–8.88 in wt%), reflecting the distinctive provenance and in part an unstable period in terms of tectonic activity. Geochemical classification of the sediments shows mostly sub-arkose with few sub-litharenites. Some major and trace elements display comprehensible correlation with Al2O3 confirming their possible hydraulic fractionation. The chemical index of alteration(CIA*), W* index, index of compositional variability(ICV), plagioclase index of alteration(PIA*) values and the ratio of Si O2/Al2O3, suggest low degrees of chemical weathering in the source areas as well as immature to moderately mature the sediments. The sediments suggest semi-arid climatic trends within oxic deltaic depositional conditions during the Holocene, at 3–12 ka. Whole rock geochemistry and discrimination diagrams demonstrate the continental signature derivatives, which might have been derived from the felsic to intermediate igneous rocks(granitic plutonic rocks) as well as from quartzose sedimentary/metamorphic provenance. These typical sources are present in a vast region of the Himalayan belt and catchment areas of Ganges. The tectonic setting of the sediments demarcates typically passive margin with slightly continental arc system.

Objective:To evaluate the antibacterial activity of essential oil from Trigonella foenumgraecum seeds powder,and identify the compounds from the extracted ***:The seeds powder of Trigonella foenum-graecum was subjected to Clevenger *** strains of bacteria were used to test antibacterial activity of the *** activity against bacteria was tested by disk diffusion method using Whatman No.1filter *** chromatography mass spectrometry analysis was performed with an Agilent7890/5975B-gas chromatography/mass selective ***:The hydrodistillation of seeds powder yielded 0.285%(v/w)of *** diffusion of the oil showed bactericidal activity against both Gram negative and Gram positive bacteria of tasted *** inhibition zone ranged from(8±0)mm to(15.0±0.7)mm depending on microbial *** chromatography mass spectrometry analysis showed14 different *** total compounds represented 80.96%of the ***:The antibacterial activity is due to the effects of different biological active compounds present in the *** of the compounds may help to develop new effective antimicrobial agent(s).Further researches on purification,characterization and toxicology of the active compounds are needed.

Wordsworth＇s Nature Poetry： An Eco-Scientific Perspective

From time immemorial down to the present decade, poets, dramatists, and fictionists have portrayed nature in different ways in their works. Critics, so far, have pointed out the mystic, didactic, and philosophical aspects of Wordsworth＇s nature poetry. In the backdrop of global deforestation and environmental degradation, traditional approaches to the evaluation of Wordsworth＇s nature poetry have lost charms and appeals to both the readers and the environmentalists. So, new approaches to the judgment of his poetry are a demand of the day. Keeping this demand in view, this paper aims at delving deep into Wordsworth＇s selected nature poems from eco-scientific point of view. Eco-scientific approach, missing in the previous analysis of his poetry, may pave the way for opening up a new trend for the new generation of readers and critics.

A Gesture Controlled User Interface for Inclusive Design and Evaluative Study of Its Usability

To meet the challenges of ubiquitous computing, ambient technologies and an increasingly older population, researchers have been trying to break away from traditional modes of interaction. A history of studies over the past 30 years reported in this paper suggests that Gesture Controlled User Interfaces (GCUI) now provide realistic and affordable opportunities, which may be appropriate for older and disabled people. We have developed a GCUI prototype application, called Open Gesture, to help users carry out everyday activities such as making phone calls, controlling their television and performing mathematical calculations. Open Gesture uses simple hand gestures to perform a diverse range of tasks via a television interface. This paper describes Open Gesture and reports its usability evaluation. We conclude that this inclusive technology offers some potential to improve the independence and quality of life of older and disabled users along with general users, although there remain significant challenges to be overcome.

Interactive effect of dietary vitamin E and inorganic mercury on growth performance and bioaccumulation of mercury in juvenile olive flounder, Paralichthys olivaceus treated with mercuric chloride

A 6-week feeding trial was carried out to evaluate the effects of dietary vitamin E(DL-a-tocopheryl acetate, TA) on growth and mercury(Hg) accumulation in juvenile olive flounder(Paralichthys olivaceus)treated with mercuric chloride(HgCl_2). Vitamin E and HgCl_2 were added to the semi-purified basal *** semi-purified diets in a 2 × 3 factorial design were formulated to contain 2 levels of Hg(0 or 20 mg HgCl_2/kg diet) and 3 levels of vitamin E(0, 100, or 200 mg TA/kg diet). Experimental fish(n = 360,9.99 ± 0.15 g) were randomly allocated into 30-L tanks at a density of 20 fish per tank with 3 replicates in each treatment and were fed twice a day. At the end of the feeding trial, dietary Hg depressed the growth performances in terms of weight gain(WG), specific growth rate(SGR), feed efficiency(FE) and protein efficiency ratio(PER) in fish, while fish fed the diets supplemented with vitamin E showed significant growth improvement in both presence and absence of HgCl_2 in the diets(P < 0.05). Survival rate was not affected in fish fed the experimental diets. Whole body compositions of fish such as lipid and moisture contents were influenced by dietary vitamin E supplementation. Total Hg contents of muscle, liver and kidney tissues were significantly reduced in fish fed diets supplemented with vitamin E(P< 0.05), while the two-way ANOVA showed that increasing Hg concentration has resulted in a reduction in vitamin *** body fatty acids of fish like eicosapentaenoic acid(EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid(DHA) contents were decreased by dietary Hg. However, supplementation of dietary vitamin E improved the a-linolenic acid(ALA) and EPA contents in fish. Our results suggest that dietary supplementation of vitamin E has potential effects on growth improvement and ameliorating inorganic Hg bioaccumulation in juvenile olive flounder.
