Prevalence of Anemia in Patients with Diabetes Mellitus:A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Objective Anemia is a common public health concern in patients with type 2 diabetes worldwide.This study aimed to identify the prevalence of anemia among patients with diabetes.Methods Electronic databases,including PubMed,Scopus,Web of Sciences,and Google Scholar,were searched systematically for studies published between 2010 and 2021.After removing duplicates and inappropriate reports,the remaining manuscripts were reviewed and appraised using theNewcastleOttawa Scale(NOS)tool.A random-effects model was used to calculate the pooled estimates of the extracted data using Stata version 17.Heterogeneity of the studies was assessed using the Q statistic.Results A total of 51 articles containing information on 26,485 patients with diabetes were included in this study.The articles were mainly from Asia(58.82%)and Africa(35.29%).The overall prevalence of anemia was 35.45%(95%CI:30.30–40.76),with no evidence of heterogeneity by sex.Among the two continents with the highest number of studies,the prevalence of anemia in patients with diabetes was significantly higher in Asia[40.02;95%CI:32.72–47.54]compared to Africa[28.46;95%CI:21.90–35.50](P for heterogeneity=0.029).Moreover,there has been an increasing trend in the prevalence of anemia in patients with diabetes over time,from[15.28;95%CI:9.83–22.21]in 2012 to[40.70;95%CI:10.21–75.93]in 2022.Conclusion Globally,approximately 4 in 10 patients with diabetes suffer from anemia.Therefore,routine anemia screening and control programs every 3 months might be useful in improving the quality of life of these patients.

As the installation of solar roofs increases,so has the concern over fires.Smoke from a solar roof fire could spread into a building through roof openings and presents a challenge for existing fire protection strategies.To date,there have been insufficient studies on solar roof fire-induced smoke spread.In this study,we conducted computational fluid dynamics(CDF)simulations using Fire Dynamics Simulator(FDS)to better understand the mechanisms of solar roof fire-induced smoke spread and help with solar roof designs.First,the photovoltaic(PV)combustion model was created in FDS and validated by experimental data.A parametric study was then simulated to investigate the impacts of roof slopes and vent sizes on the smoke spread of the solar roofs.It was found that the roof slope has a significant effect on the fire smoke spread.As the roof slope increases,the region of separation,where the smoke and air are mixed,can extend from the leeward side of the building to the roof ridge.As a result,smoke could fill the attic and room more slowly,leading to a lower soot density and lower indoor temperature.When design a solar roof,both fire smoke protection and PV energy performance should be considered,especially for the low latitude regions where the PV optimal title angle regarding energy performance is small and leads to a higher risk of smoke infiltration.

There are 22 times as many people living with HIV in the population of drug users as in the general population.This is because the injection and sexually risky behaviors prevalent in this population.Having multiple sexual partners and maintaining sexual networks with people who inject drugs (PWIDs),can increase the risk of contracting a sexually transmitted infection^([1]).More than 65%of all HIVrelated cases in Iran can be traced back to people who inject drugs (PWID),and the number is estimated to be between 200,000 and 230,000 in Iran overall.Effective prevention,resources allocation and monitoring require an accurate estimate of the population of people who use illicit drugs^([2]).

Objective:To test fumigant and repellent properties of sesquiterpene—rich essential oil from Teucrium polium subsp.capitation(L.).Methods:The fumigant toxicity test was performed at(27±1)℃.(65± 5)%relative humidity,and under darkness condition and 24 h exposure time.The chemical composition of the isolated oils was examined by gas chromatography—mass spectrometry.Results:The major compounds were α-cadiuol(46.2%),earyophyllene oxide(25.9%),α muurolol epi(8.1%),cadalene(3.7%) and longiverbenone(2.9%).In all cases,considerable differences in mortality of insect to essential oil vapor were observed in different concentrations and exposure times.Callosobruchus maculatus(C.maculates)(LC_(50)=148.9μL/L air) was more susceptible to the tested plant product than Teucrium castaneum(T.castaneum)(LC_(50)=360.2μL/L ain based on LC_(50)values.In the present investigation,the concentration of 3μ L /mL acetone showed 60% and 52% repellency against T.casteneum and C.maculatus adults,respectively.Conclusions:The results suggests that sesquiterpene—rich essential oils from the tested plant could be used as a potential control agent for stored—product insects.

Objective:To describe histopathologic findings in the placentas in women with coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)during pregnancy.Methods:In a cross-sectional study,38 pregnant women with COVID-19 and undergoing delivery between March 2020 and January 2022,were included.The patients had positive polymerase chain reaction(PCR)test for SARS-CoV-2 infection and the placentas after delivery were sent for histopathologic evaluation based on the Amsterdam Placental Workshop Group Consensus Statement and assessed by two pathologists.Results:Our results showed that maternal vascular malperfusion was the most common and was present in 17 cases(44.7%).These features included accelerated villous maturation(36.8%)distal villous hypoplasia(5.3%),placental infarction(5.3%)and intervillous fibrin deposition(10.5%).Other pathologic findings included focal calcification(10.5%),intravillous congestion and hemorrhage(10.5%),sub-chorionic hemorrhage(5.3%),acute villitis,chronic histiocytic intervillositis and delayed villous maturation each in one case(2.6%).Twelve out of 38 cases showed no significant pathologic changes.Fetal outcomes included neonatal intensive care unit admission rate of 13.2%,dyspnea 31.6%,newborn’s anosmia 7.9%,intrauterine fetal demise 2.6%,asphyxia 2.6%and neonate COVID infection 5.3%.Conclusions:Microvasculopathy,as a sign of maternal vascular malperfusion,is a common finding in placentas from SARS-CoV-2 positive pregnant women in the present study.Further studies with larger sample sizes and comparative studies between COVID-19 positive and negative,as well as information from patient follow-up are suggested.

Let M be a non-zero finitely generated module over a commutative Noetherian local ring （R, m）. In this paper we consider when the local cohomology modules are finitely generated. It is shown that if t≥ 0 is an integer and p C Supp H^t_p （M）, then Hm^t＋dim R/p （M） is not p-cofinite. Then we obtain a partial answer to a question raised by Huneke. Namely, if R is a complete local ring, then H^n_m （M） is finitely generated if and only if 0 ≤ n ￠ W, where W ---- {t ＋ dimR/p丨p ∈ SuppH^t_p（M）／V（m）}. Also, we show that if J C I are 1-dimensional ideals of R, then H^t_I（M） is J-cominimax, and H^t_I（M） is finitely generated （resp., minimax） if and only if H}R, （Mp） is finitely generated for all p C Spec R （resp., p ∈ SpecR／MaxR）. Moreover, the concept of the J-cofiniteness dimension cJ（M） of M relative to I is introduced, and we explore an interrelation between c^I_m（M） and the filter depth of M in I. Finally, we show that if R is complete and dim M/IM ≠ 0, then c^I_m （R） ---- inf{depth Mp ＋ dim R/p 丨 P ∈ Supp M/IM／V（m）}.

Experimental work has been focused on the formation of alloyed Au-Cu nanoparticles under simultaneous laser exposure and mechanical stirring of mixed monometallic colloids, here referred to as dual procedure. As a feed for the dual procedure, Au and Cu monometallic nanoparticle colloids have been using a laser ablation technique. To accomplish this, bulk targets were ablated with 1064 nm wavelength Nd: YAG laser in a pure acetone(99.99%) environment. Ultraviolet-visible optical absorption spectrometry, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and X-ray fluorescence technique have been used to characterize the nanoparticles. It has been found that experimental conditions such as stirring and laser parameters strongly affect the synthesized particle properties, including the size, shape, composition and stability of the nanoparticles. Alloy nanoparticles containing 39% Au – 61% Cu have also been prepared in the same process, but in two forms of a homogeneous alloy and a core-shell structure.

In standard data envelopment analysis (DEA) models, inefficient decision-making units (DMUs) should change their inputs and outputs arbitrarily to meet the efficient frontier. However, in many real applications of DEA, because of some limitations in resources and DMU's ability, these variations cannot be made arbitrarily. Moreover, in some situations, undesirable factors with different disposability, strong or weak disposability, are found. In this paper, a DEA-based model is proposed to determine the relative efficiency of DMUs in such a restricted environment and in presence of undesirable factors. Indeed, variation levels of inputs and outputs are pre-defined and are considered to evaluate the performance of DMUs. Numerical examples are utilized to demonstrate the approach.
