The main goal of this paper is to describe the mechanical behavior of the CDW recycled concrete in compression, using an isotropic damage model adapted to the variation of the replacement rate of natural aggregates by recycled ones. The isotropic model by Mazars was used as a constitutive equation for the CDW concrete and its adjustment parameters, A and B, were written as quadratic polynomials according to the aggregates replacement rate. The model was evaluated for conventional and recycled concretes. For the latter ones, the aggregates replacement ratios evaluated were 50% and 100%. The results show good approximation between the analytical and numerical values obtained with the adapted isotropic damage model and experimental concrete results for both compressive and flexural strength.

BACKGROUND Acute kidney injury(AKI)has serious consequences on the prognosis of patients undergoing liver ***,artificial neural network(ANN)was reported to have better predictive ability than the classical logistic regression(LR)for this postoperative *** To identify the risk factors of AKI after deceased-donor liver transplantation(DDLT)and compare the prediction performance of ANN with that of LR for this *** Adult patients with no evidence of end-stage kidney dysfunction(KD)who underwent the first DDLT according to model for end-stage liver disease(MELD)score allocation system was *** was defined according to the International Club of Ascites criteria,and potential predictors of postoperative AKI were identified by *** prediction performance of both ANN and LR was *** The incidence of AKI was 60.6%(n=88/145)and the following predictors were identified by LR:MELD score>25(odds ratio[OR]=1.999),preoperative kidney dysfunction(OR=1.279),extended criteria donors(OR=1.191),intraoperative arterial hypotension(OR=1.935),intraoperative massive blood transfusion(MBT)(OR=1.830),and postoperative serum lactate(SL)(OR=2.001).The area under the receiver-operating characteristic curve was best for ANN(0.81,95%confidence interval[CI]:0.75-0.83)than for LR(0.71,95%CI:0.67-0.76).The root-mean-square error and mean absolute error in the ANN model were 0.47 and 0.38,*** The severity of liver disease,pre-existing kidney dysfunction,marginal grafts,hemodynamic instability,MBT,and SL are predictors of postoperative AKI,and ANN has better prediction performance than LR in this scenario.

Individual prey choices of octopuses： Are they generalist or specialist？

Prey choice is often evaluated at the species or population level. Here, we analyzed the diet of octopuses of different populations with the aim to assess the importance of individual feeding habits as a factor affecting prey choice. Two methods were used, an assessment of the extent to which an individual octopus made choices of species representative of those population (PSiand IS) and 25% cutoff values for number of choices and percentage intake of individual on their prey. In one population ofOctopus cf vulgarisin Bermuda individuals were generalist by IS=0.77, but most chose many prey of the same species, and were specialists on it by >75% intake. Another population had a wider prey selection, still generalist with PSi=0.66, but two individuals specialized by choices. In Bonaire, there was a wide range of prey species chosen, and the population was specialists by IS= 0.42. Individual choices revealed seven specialists and four generalists. A population ofOctopus cyaneain Hawaii all had similar choices of crustaceans, so the population was generalist by IS with 0.74. But by individual choices, three were considered a specialist. A population ofEnteroctopus dofleinifrom Puget Sound had a wide range of preferences, in which seven were also specialists, IS=0.53. By individual choices, thirteen were also specialists. Given the octopus specialty of learning during foraging, we hypothesize that both localized prey availability and individual personality differences could influence the exploration for prey and this translates into different prey choices across individuals and populations showed in this study.

This study evaluated the influence of the Portland cement replacement by 0, 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% of Construction and Demolition Waste (CDW) filler contents in the production of self-compacting concrete (SCC). The SCC mixtures were evaluated on fresh state by slump flow, J-ring, resistance of segregation, specific gravity, and on hardened state by compressive and splitting tensile strength, specific gravity, air voids and absorption rate. The results indicated that all SCC produced with CDW filler met the limits established at any level of substitution without changes of the w/c ratio or superplasticizer content. It was possible to verify that the presence of CDW filler, in substitution of cement, by volume, improves the resistance to segregation and up to 5% of CDW filler decreases the loss of fluidity with time as compared to reference. It was found that all SCC mixtures, at 28 days, had the average compressive strength above 50 MPa, without showing significant loss with up to 20% of CDW filler. Background: COVID-19 is a rapidly transmissible pneumonia-like illness caused by SARS-CoV-2 that out broke in China in 2019 and is currently circulating worldwide. In the current context of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, complications are observed in clinical settings for the treatment of severe COVID-19 disease in nosocomial settings, due to cases of fungal co-infections. Objective: To carry out a review on fungal infections associated with respiratory infections caused by COVID-19 (Sars-Cov-2) and their aggravation. Methodology: The purpose of this study is to inform the reader about the characteristics of SARS-CoV-2 and the main fungal species that are affecting patients undergoing treatment for severe COVID-19, provoking discussion of the importance of the proposed topic, in relation to co-infections by different fungal microorganisms. Result: 80 scientific studies were selected, resulting from patients with COVID-19 and most commonly observed in patients with a history of comorbidities such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension, kidney disease, severe liver disease, oncological diseases, obesity and with severe COVID-19. These data do not represent the total number of records of the disease in the world, but cases reported by researchers in their series, showing the overlapping of fungal co-infection through the compromised immune status due to the use of therapeutic drugs, dysregulation of the microbiota, age of patients and the severity itself of the severe inflammation caused by COVID-19. Conclusion: The immunosuppression caused by the infection of COVID-19 concomitant with its therapy through corticosteroid therapy and comorbidities of the patients made fungal infections more susceptible, and these interfere in the evolution of the case and in the treatment of COVID-19, being relevant to distinguish secondary infections to therapy and the best possible reconstitution of the clinical picture.

Prosthechea is a neotropical genus, belonging to the family Orchidaceae. The Brazil recorded 32 species of the genus of which nine occur in the state of Bahia, including P. silvana and P. moojenii. The first, P. silvana is epiphytic, endemic Atlantic Forest areas of South and Southeast of the Bahia and morphologically similar to P. moojenii, rupicolous species considered endemic to the Chapada Diamantina. There are doubts whether these two species are really distinct, because they differ only as to the way of life and aspects related to the size of the inflorescence and floral structure. Thus the anatomical study of these two species, emerges as a tool that aims to investigate the delimitation of these taxa. For this study, the sheet was cut freehand with a razor blade to obtain cross sections and treated by chemical means to obtain paradermic sections, all the material was stained with safranine/Astra blue (safrablau) and safranin, respectively, and the sections were then mounted between a semipermanent and cover slipped slides. The results allowed to distinguish P. silvana of the P. moojenii through the following characteristics observed in the leaf (thickening of the cell walls of epidermal cells, amount and disposition of sclerenchyma fibers and fiber arrangement of vascular and vascular bundles in the mesophyll) and root (number of arcs of xylem and phloem, thickening of cells median cortex), infers taxonomic characters for the genus. The data indicated anatomical distinction between the two species studied here of the Prosthechea, however, suggest the anatomical analysis of other organs to reproductive and vegetative.

Skin Delivery of Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulphates—A Perspective on the Conservative Treatment for Osteoarthritis of the Knee

Based upon a series of research studies, scientific organizations considered Glucosamine and Chondroitin “not appropriate” as osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee modifying drugs and uncertain as pain relievers. Research studies which served as foundation for the aforementioned conclusions focused on the oral use of the substances. On the other hand, studies recommend that topical administration in treating OA be considered first line therapy, since it is said to be advantageous for its efficacy in treating localized situations, as it allows greater local concentration and it results in smaller systemic effects. Studies found did not provide sufficient evidence for good development and application strategies and were not enough to prove the technique to be effective or non-effective. Several other aspects must be clarified. In order to enhance permeation and delivery of Glucosamine and Chondroitin to knee joint, combining the advantages of intravenous infusion therapy with the convenience of oral administration, the suggested course of action is to transform skin delivery technology, while clarifying other points discussed throughout this research study.

目的总结有关成人失眠预测因素的文献证据,并确定其与北美护理诊断学会国际组织(NorthAmerica Nursing Diagnosis Association International,NANDA-I)护理诊断——失眠的诊断指标的一致性。方法检索Pubmed,虚拟健康图书馆和CINAHI数据库,纳入2011—2018年以英语、葡萄牙语或西班牙语发表的48篇文章。分析失眠的预测因素、NANDA-I相关因素之间的一致性。结果本研究发现的预测因素与NANDA-I相关因素具有一致性,但悲伤和白天频繁打盹除外。吸烟、咖啡因摄入,睡眠信念功能失调、肥胖和照顾者角色障碍可能是新的相关因素;慢性病可能也是新的相关因素,婚姻状况变化,经济困难、女性、年龄增长和夜班工作者可能是新的高危人群。结论与NANDA-I诊断要素相一致的失眠预测因素可为护理诊断提供证据基础。本研究发现的与失眠护理诊断相关因素没有对应关系的预测因素可考虑纳入NANDA-I分类,从而为护士和学生的临床应用提供支持。
