Unusual disposition of lateral circumflex femoral artery: Anatomical description and clinical implications

The anatomical knowledge of arterial variations of lower limb is of utmost significance for the present day surgeons and interventional radiologists for minimizing complications during vascular reconstructive procedures, catheterization procedures and surgical intervention for embolism. Lateral Circumflex Femoral Artery(LCFA) isan important branch of Profunda Femoris artery and precise knowledge of its variations can be of great relevance during surgical and radiological procedures in femoral region. The present study reports a unique case of anomalous route taken by LCFA posterior to femoral nerve associated with a prominent muscular branch from Femoral artery mimicking the course of LCFA. Documentation of such variations is highly significant. It may serve as guideline for surgeons in reducing the incidence of postoperative complications where LCFA is used as a long vascular pedicle in anterolateral perforator thigh flap and in breast reconstruction after mastectomy. Ignorance of such variations can lead to fatal intraoperative haemorrhage and incapacitating sensory and motor deficit due to injury to femoral nerve branches which are closely related to these vessels.

Detection of arboviruses in Culicoides(Diptera:Ceratopogonidae)collected from animal farms in the border areas of Yunnan Province,China

Biting midges of the genus Culicoides(order Diptera,family Ceratopogonidae)are potential biological vectors for the transmission of certain arboviruses among humans,livestock,and wild *** study collected a total of 405 Culicoides individuals from seven animal farms located in five counties in the border areas of Yunnan Province,China,and examined the Culicoides species composition and the major arboviruses carried by the Culicoides *** collected Culicoides were classified into seven species with variable abundances:Culicoides arakawae(5.43%,22/405),Culicoides homotomus(1.23%,5/405),Culicoides obsoletus(19.75%,80/405),Culicoides orientalis(17.28%,70/405),Culicoides oxystoma(29.38%,119/405),Culicoides peregrinus(5.68%,23/405),and Culicoides nipponensis(21.23%,86/405).Among the seven species,*** and *** were distributed in all the five counties with abundances of 13.33–44.87%and 10.00–46.83%,respectively,suggesting that these were the dominant species of Culicoides widespread on animal farms in the border *** was used to detect major arboviruses in the collected Culicoides specimens,including bluetongue virus(BTV),Japanese encephalitis virus,Dengue virus,Zika virus,African swine fever virus,and African horse sickness *** the tested viruses,only BTV serotype 1 was tested positive in *** specimens collected from a buffalo *** oxystoma was the dominant species on animal farms in the sampled areas,but it has not previously been documented as positive for BTV in *** current results thus suggest that *** could be an important vector for BTV transmission in these border areas,which,however,needs to be confirmed by further comprehensive ***,the present study provides the first profile of Culicoides species on animal farms in the China,Vietnam,and Myanmar border areas,establishes the prevalence of arboviruses carried by these Culicoides species,and suggests the vector potential of C.

Robust Image Watermarking Using LWT and Stochastic Gradient Firefly Algorithm

Watermarking of digital images is required in diversified applicationsranging from medical imaging to commercial images used over the ***, the copyright information is embossed over the image in the form ofa logo at the corner or diagonal text in the background. However, this formof visible watermarking is not suitable for a large class of applications. In allsuch cases, a hidden watermark is embedded inside the original image as proofof ownership. A large number of techniques and algorithms are proposedby researchers for invisible watermarking. In this paper, we focus on issuesthat are critical for security aspects in the most common domains like digitalphotography copyrighting, online image stores, etc. The requirements of thisclass of application include robustness (resistance to attack), blindness (directextraction without original image), high embedding capacity, high Peak Signalto Noise Ratio (PSNR), and high Structural Similarity Matrix (SSIM). Mostof these requirements are conflicting, which means that an attempt to maximizeone requirement harms the other. In this paper, a blind type of imagewatermarking scheme is proposed using Lifting Wavelet Transform (LWT)as the baseline. Using this technique, custom binary watermarks in the formof a binary string can be embedded. Hu’s Invariant moments’ coefficientsare used as a key to extract the watermark. A Stochastic variant of theFirefly algorithm (FA) is used for the optimization of the technique. Undera prespecified size of embedding data, high PSNR and SSIM are obtainedusing the Stochastic Gradient variant of the Firefly technique. The simulationis done using Matrix Laboratory (MATLAB) tool and it is shown that theproposed technique outperforms the benchmark techniques of watermarkingconsidering PSNR and SSIM as quality metrics.
