This study focuses on the heterogeneity of the middle Miocene syn-rift Belayim nullipore(reefal)marine sequences in the Gulf of Suez and its impacts on reservoir *** sequences consist of coralline algal reef limestones with a highly complex dual-porosity system of primary and secondary porosities of widely varying *** achieve a precise mathematical modeling of these reservoir sequences,a workflow protocol was applied to separate these sequences into a number of hydraulic flow units(HFUs)and reservoir rock types(RRTs).This has been achieved by conducting a conventional core analysis on the nullipore marine *** illustrate the heterogeneity of the nullipore reservoir,the Dykstra-Parsons coefficient(V)has been estimated(V=0.91),indicating an extremely heterogeneous reservoir.A slight to high anisotropy(λ_(k))has been assigned for the studied nullipore sequences.A stratigraphic modified Lorenz plot(SMLP)was applied to define the optimum number of HFUs and barriers/baffles in each of the studied *** the permeability-porosity,reservoir quality index-normalized porosity index(RQI-NPI)and the RQI-flow zone indicator(RQIFZI)plots,the discrete rock types(DRT)and the R35 techniques enable the discrimination of the reservoir sequences into 4 RRTs/*** RRT4 packstone samples are characterized by the best reservoir properties(moderate permeability anisotropy,with a good-to-fair reservoir quality index),whereas the RRT1 mudstone samples have the lowest flow and storage capacities,as well as the tightest reservoir quality.

Keratoconus is a non-inflammatory disorder which is gradual in development;corneal thinning and ectatic protrusion characterizes it. Keratoconus prevalence varies between different regions depending on several factors that affecting its prevalence. There are risk factors for developing keratoconus such as demographic and environmental factors. It was suggested that eye rubbing was associated with the development of keratoconus. The main aim of this review was to summarize the literature data about keratoconus and to identify the role of eyerubbing in the aetiology of the disease. A number of 24 articles was reviewed through the Pub Med, Google Scholar and Research Gates. There are many keywords used such as keratoconus, aetiology of keratoconus, eye rubbing, keratoconus prevalence, keratoconus and eye rubbing correlation. We concluded that eye rubbing causes the thinning of keratocyte, and the degree of effect of eye rubbing depends on the period and force of performing eye rubbing. It is recommended to avoid eye rubbing to prevent keratoconus, this can be achieved by avoiding itching and treating dryness of the eye and avoiding wearing eye lenses.

Detection of respiratory viruses and bacteria in children using a twenty-two target reverse-transcription real-time PCR(RT-qPCR)panel

Background:Rapid detection of the wide range of viruses and bacteria that cause respiratory infection in children is important for patient care and antibiotic *** therefore designed and evaluated a readyto-use 22 target respiratory infection reverse-transcription real-time polymerase chain reaction(RT-qPCR)panel to determine if this would improve detection of these agents at our pediatric ***:RT-qPCR assays for twenty-two target organisms were dried-down in individual wells of 96 well plates and saved at room *** included 18 respiratory viruses and 4 *** automated nucleic acid extraction of nasopharyngeal aspirate(NPA)samples,rapid qPCR was ***-qPCR results were compared with those obtained by the testing methods used at our hospital ***:One hundred fi fty-nine pediatric NPA samples were tested with the RT-qPCR *** or more respiratory pathogens were detected in 132/159(83%)*** was significantly higher than the detection rate of standard methods(94/159,59%)(P<0.001).This difference was mainly due to improved RT-qPCR detection of rhinoviruses,parainfl uenza viruses,bocavirus,and *** panel internal control assay performance remained stable at room temperature storage over a two-month testing ***:The RT-qPCR panel was able to identify pathogens in a high proportion of respiratory *** panel detected more positive specimens than the methods in use at our *** pre-made panel format was easy to use and rapid,with results available in approximately 90 *** now plan to determine if use of this panel improves patient care and antibiotic stewardship.

Impact of the Human Activities on the Local Climate and Environment of the Suez City in Egypt

Surface temperature and vegetation are the major land cover changes that significantly affect on the thermal environment. In the present study, remote sensing techniques were applied to identify the relationship between anthropogenic activities and the thermal environment in the North Gulf of Suez area. Results have indicated that the urbanization and agricultural expansion have been increased during the last 25 years. Although urban areas increased from 49 km2 in 1987 to 57 km2 in 2012, the urban heat island-range declined from very high and high, to moderate and low. An expansion in cultivated areas from 3 km2 in 1987 to 26 km2 in 2012 was responsible for the decline. The results of this study provided valuable information for understanding the local thermal changes that associate rapid urbanization and expansion of cultivated areas. Consequently, this work recommends that proper planning and management regimes for land use and cover changes associated with rapid urbanization will result in positive impacts on the local climate and environment.

White blood cells (WBC) or leukocytes are a vital component ofthe blood which forms the immune system, which is accountable to fightforeign elements. The WBC images can be exposed to different data analysisapproaches which categorize different kinds of WBC. Conventionally, laboratorytests are carried out to determine the kind of WBC which is erroneousand time consuming. Recently, deep learning (DL) models can be employedfor automated investigation of WBC images in short duration. Therefore,this paper introduces an Aquila Optimizer with Transfer Learning basedAutomated White Blood Cells Classification (AOTL-WBCC) technique. Thepresented AOTL-WBCC model executes data normalization and data augmentationprocess (rotation and zooming) at the initial stage. In addition,the residual network (ResNet) approach was used for feature extraction inwhich the initial hyperparameter values of the ResNet model are tuned by theuse of AO algorithm. Finally, Bayesian neural network (BNN) classificationtechnique has been implied for the identification of WBC images into distinctclasses. The experimental validation of the AOTL-WBCC methodology isperformed with the help of Kaggle dataset. The experimental results foundthat the AOTL-WBCC model has outperformed other techniques which arebased on image processing and manual feature engineering approaches underdifferent dimensions.

Role of Mediterranean diet, tropical vegetables rich in antioxidants, and sunlight exposure in blindness, cataract and glaucoma among African type 2 diabetics

AIM: To assess whether regular Mediterranean diet and regular intake of vegetables may reduce the risk of blindness, cataract, and glaucoma in these type 2 diabetics. · METHODS: A cross-sectional design was carried out among known black diabetics admitted at the diabetic clinics of Kinshasa, between October 2008 and March 2009. The Mediterranean-style dietary score (MSDPS) was used to characterize a Mediterranean-style dietary pattern in the study population using the Harvard semi quantitative FFQ adapted for Africa. · RESULTS: Five hundred Type 2 diabetic patients were included in this study (48% of males; 40% aged ≥60 years). There was a significant association between blindness, cataract and aging; between blindness (P <0.05), cataract (P<0.05), glaucoma (P <0.05), and physical inactivity; between blindness (P<0.05), cataract (P <0.0001), glaucoma (P <0.01) and high SES, and a very significant association between blindness (P <0.0001), cataract (P <0.0001), glaucoma (P <0.0001) and exposure to sunlight. There was also a significant association between blindness, glaucoma, and male sex. Regular intake of Mediterranean diet, Brassica Rapa, beans, Abelmoschus, Musa acuminata reduced significantly the risk of blindness, cataract and glaucoma. · CONCLUSION: Regular intake of Mediterranean diet, Brassica Rapa, beans, Abelmoschus, and Musa acuminata may significantly reduce the risk of blindness or its major causes among type 2 diabetes mellitus in Africa.

A survey of incidental ocular trauma by pencil and pen

AIM：To determine characteristic features of ocular trauma resulted from self-trauma by writing instruments among pediatric ***：Thirty-six children who suffered from selfinflicted ocular trauma with a writing instrument were included in this prospective cross-sectional ***：The mean age was 5.6±2.7y with male：female ratio of *** right eye was involved two times more than the left *** superomedial（55.5%）and inferomedial（30.6%）quadrants were the most common sites of *** leading culprit was colored pencils（44.4%）.During surgical exploration,no foreign body（FB）was found in 25（69.4%）patients while an FB was found in 11（30.5%）*** injury was present in two patients（5.6%）and only in superomedial quadrant *** 1 was the most common site for ocular trauma associated with penetrating *** mean ocular trauma score（OTS）in penetrating injuries was 3.8±*** best corrected visual acuity（BCVA）was 0.3±0.6 upon admittance and 0.08±0.21 after one *** final BCVA was significantly correlated with the entrance site,better final BCVA was found in nasal entrance site（P〈0.05）.CONCLUSION：The ophthalmologists should keep a high index of suspicion to rule out penetrating eye injuries related to writing instruments in a young uncooperative *** injury is a life-threatening event that should be ruled out by appropriate *** canthal area as the most common site needs an especial attention in writing instrument injuries.

Associations between CD133,CK19 and G2/M in cirrhotic HCV(genotype-4)patients with or without accompanying tumor

Hepatitis C virus(HCV)-cirrhotic patients have the highest threat of developing hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)and may be at risk of extra hepatic *** present study was designed to investigate CD133 and CK19 in HCV(genotype-4)-cirrhotic patients with/without HCC or extra hepatic cancer,to assess the degree of their correlation with cell cycle abnormalities and finally to assess the role of their combination as diagnostic tool for discrimination of cirrhotic patients with HCC from those with extra hepatic *** study included 77 HCV-cirrhotic patients and 20 healthy non-disease control *** were categorized histo-pathologically into:24 have only liver cirrhosis,26 with HCC,and 27 patients with extra hepatic *** cycle abnormalities,CD133 and CK19 were determined by flow cytometry ***133 and CK19 showed marked elevation in HCC and extra hepatic cancer compared with liver cirrhosis and control subjects(p<0.0001).Positive associations were noted between CK19,CD133 and G2/*** were gradually increased with progression from liver cirrhosis to *** of the three showed the best AUC(0.978)and accuracy(92.5%)for discrimination of HCC from extra hepatic *** CD133 with G2/M and CK19 comprises an excellent diagnostic panel for discrimination of HCV-cirrhotic patients with HCC from those with extra hepatic cancer.

Hydrodynamics and Mass Transfer of Oily Micro-emulsions in An External Loop Airlift Reactor

This study reports an experimental investigation on hydrodynamics and mass transfer characteristics in a 15.6x10-3 m3 external loop airlift reactor for oil-in-water micro-emulsions with oil to water volume ratio （φ） rang- ing from 3% to 7% （by volume）. For comparative purposes, experiments were also carried out with water. Increase in φ of micro-emulsion systems results in an increment in the gas holdup and a decrease in the volumetric gas-liquid oxygen transfer coefficient and liquid circulation velocity, attributed to the escalation in the viscosity of mi- cro-emulsions. The gas holdup and volumetric mass transfer coefficient for micro-emulsion systems are signifi- cantly higher than that of water system.
