In-doped (Se0.7Te0.3) thin films (In: 0, 0.05, and 0.08wt%) with thickness of (150 ± 25 nm) have been deposited on glass substrates by chemical vapor deposition by using selenium, tellurium and indium whose purity is (99.99%) compound alloy. The electrical and optical properties of the thin films were analyzed. The effects of In-doping concentration on the thermoelectric properties of the thin films were investigated by room-temperature measurement of the See beck coefficient and electrical resistivity. The thermoelectric power factor shows the best result at 0.05wt% in doping. The See beck coefficients are positive with increasing in doping concentration from 0 to 0.08wt%. And the thin films show p-type conduction. For optical properties, the transmission of all samples was approximated to 90%.

This paper presents a new result of the thermal conductivity and thermal diffusivity of chromium (Cr) nanoparticle suspended in distilled water at different concentration of nanoparticles. All samples have been prepared using single step method. The thermal conductivity and thermal diffusivity were measured via hot wire-laser beam displacement technique. A numerical model of the heat conduction equation and probe beam deflection has been performed to determine the effective thermal conductivity and effective thermal diffusivity of chromium nanofluids. By fitting the experimental data to the numerical model, the thermal conductivity and thermal diffusivity of chromium nanofluid were obtained. The results show that the effective thermal conductivity and thermal diffusivity of chromium nanofluids increases with increasing of nanoparticles concentration in base fluid.

Genetic Polymorphism of Kappa Casein （K-CN）in Iraqi Buffalo Using Polymerase Chain Reaction-Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism

This study was carried out the animal production department, genetic engineering lab, college of agriculture, （UoB）, Iraq. The aim of this study was to use the polymerase chain reaction restriction fragment length polymorphism （PCR-RFLP） as a fast, efficient and low cost method to detect the genetic variants of kappa-casein gene （k-CN） in Iraqi buffalo using three different primers specific for bovine k-CN to amplify the gene segment, followed by digestion using restriction enzyme （Hind III） for genotyping. DNA from 50 Iraqi buffaloes was extracted by phenol chloroform method. PCR was carried out in a final reaction volume of 25 μL and the reaction mixture was subjected to standard PCR protocol. The results of this work show that among the examined 50 Iraqi Buffalo were homozygous for the K-CN and genotyped as BB for all three primers but gave different bands. Thus PCR-RFLP using Hind III revealed all the samples to be monomorphic for this locus. The restriction digestion analysis of 397 bp PCR product of k-CN indicates the presence of two fragments of 154 bp and 225 bp for BB-genotype. A 437 bp fragment of the bovine genomic K-CN gene was amplified. One Hind III restriction site is found in position 346 of the amplified fragment of allele k-CN B, yielded 91 bp and 346 bp. Amplified products from Iraqi buffalo （530）, after being digested with Hind III, yielded two separate DNA fragments of different sizes i.e., 160 bp and 370 bp. For the first time completed research such specifications in Iraq, for the first time using molecular biology in genetic identification. Our objectives of this study have been to aid in understanding domestication, Buffalo origin and their history and evolution, to identify genetically unique breeds, to provide an objective basis for conservation decisions and to aid the formulation of breeding plans.

Approximate Analytical Solution to Temperature Profile in a Solid Composite Heated by a Pulsed Laser

The flash technique of thermal diffusivity measurement applied to composite materials is dependent upon the success at deriving and solving the associated heat diffusion equation for the particular boundary problems of the experiment. Orthogonal expansion technique and the Green’s function approach are easier and straight forward for deriving and solving such equations, but the solutions converge very slowly for small times and hence cannot be used for numerical calculations. The Laplace transformation technique on the other hand has advantage of allowing for the making of small time approximation in order to obtain solutions that are very rapidly convergent. The principle difficulty of this technique is in the inversion of the resulting transform from s to t domain. Inversion by contour integration requires a lot of mastery in integral calculus and the simplest method is therefore to look up for the transform in the standard Laplace conversion table. At first look not all subsidiary equations can be converted using the Laplace transform conversion table;in this work however, we present the mathematical analysis by means of which analytical solutions to heat diffusion problem in composite media;hitherto only transformed via contour integration, is obtained directly from the Laplace transform conversion tables.

This study investigates the impact of analogical images on students" creative abilities of novelty and offeasibility, through solving scientific and environmental problems. There are eight problems: fours cientific and four environmental derived from content-text of science and social studies curricula which were provided to the students. The experiment was implemented over 4 weeks. Analogical images were provided to the experimental groups, whereas control groups were asked to solve the problems abstractly. The experiment was based on the activation of the cerebellumby analogical images to improve creativeabilities. A 2 × 2 factorial design was used. A total of 112 sixth-grade students (45 males & 67 females) from two government schools in Muscat governorate participated in this study. The sample was classified into four classes: two experimental and two control. The findings show that: (a) the experimental group performed better on problem-solving than the control group did; (b) design not gender has the most effect on alinear combination of novelty and feasibility; and (c) gender and design have the most effect on alinear combination of scientific and environmental problems.
