Microbial cell factories(bacteria and fungi)are the leading producers of beneficial natural products such as lycopene,carotene,herbal medicine,and biodiesel *** microorganisms are considered efficient due to their effective bioprocessing strategy(monoculture-and consortial-based approach)under distinct processing ***,the advancement in genetic and process optimization techniques leads to enhanced biosynthesis of natural products that are known functional ingredients with numerous applications in the food,cosmetic and medical *** consortia and monoculture thrive in nature in a small proportion,such as wastewater,food products,and *** similitude to natural consortia,it is possible to engineer artificial microbial consortia and program their behaviours via synthetic biology ***,this review summarizes the optimization of genetic and physicochemical parameters of the microbial system for improved production of natural ***,this review presents a brief history of natural consortium and describes the functional properties of *** review focuses on synthetic biology tools that enable new approaches to design synthetic consortia;and highlights the syntropic interactions that determine the performance and stability of synthetic *** particular,the effect of processing conditions and advanced genetic techniques to improve the productibility of both monoculture and consortial based systems have been greatly *** this context,possible strategies are also discussed to give an insight into microbial engineering for improved pro-duction of natural products in the *** summary,it is concluded that the coupling of genomic modifications with optimum physicochemical factors would be promising for producing a robust microbial cell factory that shall contribute to the increased production of natural products.

Electricity theft is one of the major issues in developing countries which is affecting their economy *** with the introduction of emerging technologies,this issue became more *** many new energy theft detection(ETD)techniques have been proposed by utilising different data mining(DM)techniques,state&network(S&N)based techniques,and game theory(GT)***,a detailed survey is presented where many state-of-the-art ETD techniques are studied and analysed for their strengths and *** levels of taxonomy are presented to classify state-of-the-art ETD *** types and ways of energy theft and their consequences are studied and summarised and different parameters to benchmark the performance of proposed techniques are extracted from *** challenges of different ETD techniques and their mitigation are suggested for future *** is observed that the literature on ETD lacks knowledge management techniques that can be more effective,not only for ETD but also for theft *** can help in the prevention of energy theft,in the future,as well as for ETD.

Raising capital amid economic policy uncertainty:an empirical investigation

This paper investigates how economic policy uncertainty affects firms’frequency and their choice of financial instruments to raise *** applying a three-step sequential framework over a sample of 6834 publicly listed US non-financial firms,we find that during periods of high economic uncertainty,firms raise capital more frequently with a preference toward debt *** empirical findings suggest that firms prefer debt financing over equity financing to avoid ownership dilution and high equity *** rise in leverage during periods of high economic uncertainty highlights the importance of scrutinizing policy tools used to stabilize the economy during such times.

Evaluation of animal biosafety webinar series for professionals working in animal facilities across Pakistan during the COVID-19 pandemic

Experimental research with animals can help the prevention,cure,and alleviation of human *** research facilities are critical for scientific advancement,but they can also pose a higher risk than other biomedical ***,allergic reactions,bites,cuts,and scratches by animals are all substantial concerns that can occur in animal ***,human error and unexpected animal behavior pose a risk not just to humans,but also to the environment and the animals *** majority of biosafety and biosecurity training programs focus on clinical and biomedical laboratories dealing with human safety factors,with little emphasis on animal *** current virtual training was designed to improve biosafety and biosecurity capabilities of animal laboratory personnel,researchers,and veterinarians from different regions of *** results revealed that understanding was improved regarding triggers for risk assessment in addition to annual and regular reviews(56%to 69%),biosecurity(21%to 50%),decontamination(17%to 35%),safe handling of sharps(21%to 35%),Dual Use Research of Concern(DURC)(17%to 40%),Personal Protective Equipment(PPE)usage by waste handlers(60.9%to 75%),waste management(56%to 85%),animal biosafety levels(40.57%to 45%),and good microbiological practices and procedures(17%to 35%).To bring human and animal laboratories up to the same level in terms of biosafety and biosecurity,it is critical to focus on areas that have been overlooked in the *** programs focusing on animal biosafety should be conducted more frequently to strengthen bio risk management systems in animal research facilities.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has proven time and time again to be a game-changer innovation in every walk of life, including medicine. Introduced by Dr. Gunn in 1976 to accurately diagnose acute abdominal pain and list potential differentials, AI has since come a long way. In particular, AI has been aiding in radiological diagnoses with good sensitivity and specificity by using machine learning algorithms. With the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic, AI has proven to be more than just a tool to facilitate healthcare workers in decision making and limiting physician-patient contact during the pandemic. It has guided governments and key policymakers in formulating and implementing laws, such as lockdowns and travel restrictions, to curb the spread of this viral disease. This has been made possible by the use of social media to map severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 hotspots, laying the basis of the "smart lockdown" strategy that has been adopted globally. However, these benefits might be accompanied with concerns regarding privacy and unconsented surveillance, necessitating authorities to develop sincere and ethical government–public relations.

Deep Learning-based Environmental Sound Classification Using Feature Fusion and Data Enhancement

Environmental sound classification(ESC)involves the process of distinguishing an audio stream associated with numerous environmental *** common aspects such as the framework difference,overlapping of different sound events,and the presence of various sound sources during recording make the ESC task much more complicated and *** research is to propose a deep learning model to improve the recognition rate of environmental sounds and reduce the model training time under limited computation *** this research,the performance of transformer and convolutional neural networks(CNN)are *** audio features,chromagram,Mel-spectrogram,tonnetz,Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients(MFCCs),delta MFCCs,delta-delta MFCCs and spectral contrast,are extracted fromtheUrbanSound8K,ESC-50,and ESC-10,***,this research also employed three data enhancement methods,namely,white noise,pitch tuning,and time stretch to reduce the risk of overfitting issue due to the limited audio *** evaluation of various experiments demonstrates that the best performance was achieved by the proposed transformer model using seven audio features on enhanced *** UrbanSound8K,ESC-50,and ESC-10,the highest attained accuracies are 0.98,0.94,and 0.97 *** experimental results reveal that the proposed technique can achieve the best performance for ESC problems.
