A minimum data set for traumatic brain injuries in Iran

Purpose: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is one of the major public health concerns worldwide. Developing a TBI registry could facilitate characterizing TBI, monitoring the quality of care, and quantifying the burden of TBI by collecting comparable and standardized epidemiological and clinical data. However, a national standard tool for data collection of the TBI registry has not been developed in Iran yet. This study aimed to develop a national minimum data set (MDS) for a hospital-based registry of patients suffering from TBI in Iran. Methods: The MDS was designed in 2 phases, including a literature review and a Delphi study with content validation by an expert panel. After the literature review, a comprehensive list of administrative and clinical items was obtained. Through a two-round e-Delphi approach conducted by invited experts with clinical and research experience in the field of TBI, the final data elements were selected. Results: A MDS of TBI was assigned to 2 parts: administrative part with 5 categories including 52 data elements, and clinical part with 9 categories including 130 data elements. Conclusion: For the first time in Iran, we developed a MDS specified for TBI consisting of 182 data elements. The MDS would facilitate implementing a TBI’s national level registry and providing essential, comparable and standardized information.

Loess as a subcategory of collapsible soils is a well-known aeolian deposit generally characterized as a highly-porous medium with relatively low natural density and water content and a high percentage of fine-grained *** collapsible soil sustains large stresses under a dry condition with natural water ***,it can experience high and relatively sudden decreases in its volume once it reaches a certain water content under a certain load and therefore,the natural condition of the soil might not be suitable for construction if the possibility of the exposure of the soil to excessive water exists during the lifetime of the *** research presents the utilization of an innovative method for stabilization and improvement of Gorgan loessial *** method uses electrokinetics and nanomaterials to instigate additives to move through soil pores,as an in situ remedial *** assess the acceptability of this measure,the deformability and strength characteristics of the improved collapsible soil are measured and compared with those of the unimproved soil,implementing several unsaturated oedometer tests under constant vertical stress and varying matric *** result emphasizes the importance of the matric suction on the behavior of both improved and unimproved *** test results indicate that the resistance of the soil was highly dependent on the water content and matric suction of the *** oedometer tests on samples improved by 3%lime and 5%nanomaterials show considerable improvement of the collapse *** also reveal that stabilized samples experience notably lower volume decrease under the same applied stresses.

Application of light-weight drilling fluids is essential to develop depleted hydrocarbon ***,colloidal gas aphron(CGA)-based fluids have been introduced for such applications due to their ability in controlling fluid *** this work,a comprehensive experimental study was performed to choose the best formulation for CGA fluids by implementing static stability tests,rheological behavior measurements,and bubble size analyses of *** gum polymer and sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate(SDBS),an anionic surfactant,and cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide(CTAB),a cationic surfactant,were utilized to prepare *** the range of experiments conducted,the performance of CGA fluids prepared with SDBS was improved by increasing the polymer and surfactant ***,for CTAB,it was improved by an increase in the polymer concentration and a decrease in the surfactant *** formation of white,long hair-like precipitates observed at high levels of CTAB caused CGA fluid to become rapidly ***,it was observed that the size of CGAs was significantly influenced by the polymer and surfactant *** most stable bubbles were formed at 6.86 g/L of polymer *** results of this study provide insights into appropriate formulation for CGA-based fluids which could be potentially applicable in drilling operations.

In this research,two shake table experiments were conducted to study the effects of non-liquefiable crust layer and superstructure mass on the responses of two sets of 22 pile groups to liquefactioninduced lateral *** this regard,an inclined base layer overlain by a very loose liquefiable layer was constructed in both models;while only in one model,a non-liquefiable crust layer was built.A lumped mass,being representative of a superstructure,was attached to the cap of one pile group in both *** models were fully instrumented with various sensors,including acceleration,displacement,and pore water pressure ***,the piles were instrumented with pair strain gauges to measure pure bending moments induced by cyclic and monotonic loadings associated with ground shaking and lateral spreading,*** results showed that the existence of the non-liquefiable crust layer increases both the maximum and residual soil displacements at the free field and also the maximum bending moments in the *** results of the experiments indicated that the crust layer induces a high kinematic lateral soil pressure and force on the piles which are not present in the crustless *** crust layer increases the pile cap displacement before liquefaction,albeit decreases it after liquefaction,due to the elastic rebound of the piles in the liquefiable *** crust layer postpones both liquefaction triggering and dissipation of excess pore water *** existence of the superstructure mass on the pile caps decreases the acceleration amplitude of the pile caps,while increases their maximum displacement.

Objective:To analyze and review the overall seroprevalence rate of Toxoplasma gondii(***) infection in cattle from ***:In the current study,data collection(published and unpublished papers,abstracts of national scientific congresses and dissertations) using particular terms was carried out systematically on the following electronic databases like PubMed,Google Scholar,Ebsco,Science Direct,Scopus,Magiran,Irandoc,IranMedex and SID(Scientific Information Database).Results:A total of 22 studies since 1983 to 2012 reporting the seroprevalence of toxoplasmosis in cattle from different regions of Iran met our eligibility *** pooled proportion of toxoplasmosis,using random effect model,among cattle in Iran from over the 30-year period was estimated 18.1%(95%CI:9.9%to 28.2%).Conclusions:This study firstly establishes a crude seroprevalence rate of Toxoplasma infection in cattle which can lead us to understand the condition of eattle toxoplasmosis,which have to take into accounted fur an appropriate and effective prevention and ***,it compares and discusses elaborately the role of risk factors including sex,age and breed in the epidemiology of the ***,it determines gaps and drawbacks in the prior studies which are greatly useful to design more accurate investigations in the future.

Microstructure and mechanical properties of AA2024 after severe plastic deformation （SPD） and non-isothermal annealing were investigated. The non-isothermal treatment was carried out on the severely deformed AA2024, and the interaction between restoration and precipitation phenomena was investigated. Differential scanning calorimetry, hardness and shear punch tests illustrate that static recovery and dissolution of GPB zones/Cu-Mg co-clusters occur concurrently through non-isothermal annealing. Scanning electron microscope and electron backscatter diffraction illustrate that non-isothermal annealing of deformed AA2024 up to 250 ℃ promotes the particle-free regions and also particle stimulated nucleation. Results show that through heating with the rate of 10 ℃/min up to 250 ℃, the ultimate shear strength and the hardness are maximum due to the presence of S＇/S phases which have been detected during non-isothermal differential scanning calorimetry experiment. Also, recrystallization phenomenon occurs in temperature range which includes the dissolution of S＇/S phases. The concurrent recrystallization and dissolution of S＇/S phase at 380 ℃ have been verified by differential scanning calorimetry, mechanical properties, and optical microscope.

This paper presents an analytical foundation for probability-based formats for seismic design and assessment of structures. These formats are designed to be suitable for code and guideline implementation. The framework rests on non-linear, static seismic analysis. The formats can be used to ensure that the structural seismic design can be expected to satisfy specified probabilistic performance objectives, and perhaps （more novel） that it does so with a desired, guaranteed degree of confidence. Performance objectives are presumed to be expressed as the annual probability of exceeding a structural performance level. Structural performance levels are in turn defined as specified structural parameters （e.g., ductility, strength, maximum drift ratio, etc.） reaching a structural limit state （e.g. onset of yield, collapse, etc.）. The degree of confidence in meeting the specified performance objective may be quantified through the upper confidence bound on the （uncertain） probability. In order to make such statements, aleatory （random） uncertainty and epistemic （knowledge limited） uncertainty must be distinguished. The single seismic design foundation can be formatted into the alternative conventional design methods such as LRFD design and fragility-hazard design. Versions of the new developments reported here are already in place in recently completed seismic guidelines.

The National Spinal Cord Injury Registry of Iran(NSCIR-IR)is a not-for-profit,hospital-based,and prospective observational registry that appraises the quality of care,long-term outcomes and the personal and psychological burden of traumatic spinal cord injury in *** validity in every registry includes rigorous attention to data *** quality assurance is essential for any registry to make sure that correct patients are being enrolled and that the data being collected are *** reviewed strengths and weaknesses of the NSCIR-IR while considering the methodological guidelines and recommendations for efficient and rational governance of patient *** summary,the steering committee,funded and maintained by the Ministry of Health and Medical Education of Iran,the international collaborations,continued staff training,suitable data quality,and the ethical approval are considered to be the strengths of the registry,while limited human and financial resources,poor interoperability with other health systems,and time-consuming processes are among its main weaknesses.
