We conducted a comprehensive literature review and meta-analysis study on the efficacy of Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori) eradication in preventing metachronous gastric cancer after endoscopic resection among an East Asian population. Our results showed that the eradication of this pathogen significantly reduced the risk of susceptibility to metachronous gastric cancer in these patients. However, based on the available evidence, several factors such as increasing age, severe atrophy in the corpus and antrum, and intestinal metaplasia all may increase the risk of metachronous gastric cancer in H. pylori eradicated patients.

BACKGROUND Omicron(B.1.1.529)is a severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARSCoV-2)variant of concern;however,there is no comprehensive analysis regarding clinical features,disease severity,or clinical outcomes of this variant.AIM To compare the clinical characteristics of infection with omicron and previous variants of SARS-CoV-2.METHODS We searched major international databases consisting ISI Web of Science,PubMed,Scopus,MedRxiv,and Reference Citation Analysis to collect the potential relevant documents.Finally,clinical features,e.g.,death rate,intensive care unit(ICU)admission,length of hospitalization,and mechanical ventilation,of infection with SARS-CoV-2 omicron variant compared with previous variants were assessed using odds ratio and 95%confidence intervals by Comprehensive Meta-Analysis software version 2.2.RESULTS A total of 12 articles met our criteria.These investigated the clinical outcomes of infection with omicron variant compared with other variants such as alpha,beta and delta.Our results suggested that ICU admission,need for mechanical ventilation,and death rate were significantly lower for omicron than previous variants.In addition,the average length of hospitalization during the omicron wave was significantly shorter than for other variants.CONCLUSION The infectivity of omicron variant was higher than for previous variants due to several mutations,particularly in the spike protein.However,disease severity was mild to moderate compared previous variants.

BACKGROUND Listeria monocytogenes(L.monocytogenes)is one of the most important zoonotic bacteria that is transmitted to humans through infected animal products and is the cause of human listeriosis.Pregnant women and immunocompromised patients are more susceptible to the bacterium than healthy people.Recent studies have reported extensive evidence on the role of L.monocytogenes infection and the risk of spontaneous abortion.AIM To evaluate the possible connection with L.monocytogenes in the risk of spontaneous abortion in pregnancy.METHODS We conducted a systematic literature review using several databases to search the relevant case-control studies on the association between L.monocytogenes infection and spontaneous abortion.Finally,the impact of infection with L.monocytogenes and risk of spontaneous abortion was assessed via odds ratio at corresponding 95%confidence intervals.RESULTS In the present study,we evaluated the data of 4059 pregnant women who had a spontaneous abortion,and interestingly their colonization rate of L.monocytogenes was about 20.5%.CONCLUSION Therefore,based on statistical analysis,we found that there is a significant relationship between the infection with L.monocytogenes and spontaneous abortion.

BACKGROUND Cardiac syndrome X(CSX)is characterized by persistent angina with normal coronary arteries.Several pathophysiologic mechanisms have been introduced,particularly Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori)infection.AIM To investigate the association between H.pylori infection and CSX.METHODS All studies related to H.pylori infection and CSX were evaluated by comprehensive searches of global databases such as ISI Web of Knowledge,PubMed,Scopus,EMBASE,and Google scholar.Statistical analyses of selected articles were evaluated based on the summary odds ratio(OR).Finally,heterogeneity and publication bias were estimated using the I2 statistic and Cochrane Q-test as well as Begg’s and Egger’s tests.RESULTS A total of 11 studies met our inclusion criteria and 1435 patients(63%female,and 37%male)were reviewed.A significant association was observed between female patients and this syndrome(P=0.02).Our results showed a positive association between infection with this pathogen and presence of CSX(OR:5.65;95%confidence interval[CI]:4.17-7.64;I2:82.20).However,no significant association was observed with cagA-positive H. pylori strains and this syndrome (OR: 0.97;0.56-1.70 with 95%CI). Given the heterogeneity and publication bias, the resultsneed to confirmed by further prospective investigation.CONCLUSIONBased on our results, H. pylori infection is associated with an increased risk ofCSX. This bacterium appears to play a major role in the pathogenesis of CXS byinducing persistent inflammation.

Impact of Streptococcus pyogenes infection in susceptibility to psoriasis:A systematic review and meta-analysis

BACKGROUND Psoriasis is one of the most common chronic systemic diseases,mainly appearing as lesions on the skin and joints,and is associated with a high mortality due to a lack of standard treatment.The exact mechanism of this disease is not fully understood,but the inflammatory response and dysregulation of the immune system are the most important molecular processes that trigger this disease.The skin microflora is one of the main factors involved in inducing,maturing,and dysregulating the immune system,which may underly the development of psoriasis.AIM To determine the impact of Streptococcus pyogenes(S.pyogenes)infection and susceptibility to psoriasis using available case-control studies.METHODS In this study,we conducted a comprehensive literature search using PubMed,Scopus,Web of science,and Google scholar databases to obtain all available relevant studies on the association between S.pyogenes and psoriasis.We pooled the data using Comprehensive Meta-analysis software to investigate the role of S.pyogenes infection in the development of psoriasis.The probable connection between S.pyogenes and susceptibility to psoriasis was assessed using the odds ratio(OR)with corresponding 95%confidence intervals(CIs).RESULTS Data from 781 cases were evaluated in this study.Our results showed that the rate of infection with S.pyogenes in psoriatic patients and healthy individuals was 33.4%(95%CI:27.8-39.6)and 16.2%(95%CI:9.7-25.9),respectively.S.pyogenes infection significantly increased the risk of psoriasis(OR:6.58;95%CI:3.64-11.87;P=0.001).CONCLUSION S.pyogenes infection can significantly increase the risk of psoriasis.Thus,infection with S.pyogenes is a risk factor for the initiation and development of psoriatic events.

Correlation between structural phase transition and physical properties of Co2+/Gd3+ co-substituted copper ferrite

The doping of the spinel ferrites with selective cations usually improves the properties of the parent ferrite.The effect of Co2+/Gd3+co-substitution on the microstructure,optical,and magnetic properties of Cu1-xCoxFe2-xGdxO4prepared by the citrate-nitrate auto-combustion synthesis was investigated.Characterization of the samples was performed with powder X-ray diffraction（XRD）,Raman and Fouriertransform infrared（FTIR） spectroscopy,field-emission scanning electron microscopy,X-ray energydispersive spectroscopy,UV-Vis spectroscopy,and a vibrating sample magnetometer.The results of XRD,Raman,and FTIR analysis show a gradual structural phase transition from a tetragonal（I41/amd）structure to a cubic（Fd 3 m） structure.The bandgap energy of the studied samples is in a range of1.57-1.75 eV with a minimum in sample x=0,06 and then increases.Magnetic investigations show that the presence of Co2+/Gd3+cations in an octahedral site of the copper ferrite structure could increase saturation magnetization and coercive field from 567.9 Oe and 23.62 emu/g to 929.4 Oe and 28.27 emu/g,respectively.

The relationship between tradition and modernity significantly influences society,culture,and architectural discourse.This philosophy offers a framework for exploring the impact of traditional architecture on contemporary Iranian architecture from different perspectives and approaches.Various viewpoints exist on whether historical architecture can be a defining characteristic of contemporary architectural discourse.Through an in-depth review of analysis-centred architectural literature,a unique method was chosen for analysing contemporary architecture and gaining insight into its creation.The main goal of this study is to establish a productive relationship between past-oriented architecture,innovative architectural concepts,and contemporary thought.This article examines three critical viewpoints,tradition as imitation,transmission,and transformation,alongside analysing their influential components on architectural form to gain insight into productively connecting with historical achievements and show that the role of history is to add new values to architecture-conscious needs that have changed during history.Ultimately,the challenge lies in finding a suitable path among diverse perspectives and reinterpretations and establishing a productive relationship with history and contemporary thought.

On the occurrence of Neoplanorbulinella Matsumaru, 1976(Foraminifera) from the late Oligocene of Central Iran(Qom Formation):Palaeobiogeographic implications

The shallow marine carbonates of the upper Oligocene Qom Formation yielded several occurrences of the foraminiferan genus Neoplanorbulinella Matsumaru. Neoplanorbulinella saipanensis Matsumaru has so far been recorded from the late Eocene-early Miocene of Japan and late Oligocene of NE Italy whereas N. malatyaensis Gedik is only reported from the Oligocene from its type locality in the Malatya Basin, eastern Turkey. The new records reported here from the Qom Formation indicate that both species occur in the Dobaradar section, ca. 10 km south of the city of Qom in North-Central Iran. The palaeogeographic distribution of these two species therefore has to be extended as far as the palaeolongitude of current Central Iran.The accompanying larger benthic foraminifers, including Miogypsinoides complanatus(Schlumberger),M. formosensis Yabe and Hanzawa, Spiroclypeus margaritatus(Schlumberger), Operculina complanata(Defrance), and Risananeiza pustulosa Boukhary et al., indicate the upper Chattian SBZ 23 Zone. The coexistence of the N. saipanensis and N. malatyaensis points to suitable palaeobiogeographic conditions of Central Iran to host Western and Eastern Tethyan taxa.

Engineering Nano/Microscale Chiral Self‑Assembly in 3D Printed Constructs

Helical hierarchy found in biomolecules like cellulose,chitin,and collagen underpins the remarkable mechanical strength and vibrant colors observed in living organisms.This study advances the integration of helical/chiral assembly and 3D printing technology,providing precise spatial control over chiral nano/microstructures of rod-shaped colloidal nanoparticles in intricate geometries.We designed reactive chiral inks based on cellulose nanocrystal(CNC)suspensions and acrylamide monomers,enabling the chiral assembly at nano/microscale,beyond the resolution seen in printed materials.We employed a range of complementary techniques including Orthogonal Superposition rheometry and in situ rheo-optic measurements under steady shear rate conditions.These techniques help us to understand the nature of the nonlinear flow behavior of the chiral inks,and directly probe the flow-induced microstructural dynamics and phase transitions at constant shear rates,as well as their post-flow relaxation.Furthermore,we analyzed the photo-curing process to identify key parameters affecting gelation kinetics and structural integrity of the printed object within the supporting bath.These insights into the interplay between the chiral inks self-assembly dynamics,3D printing flow kinematics and photopolymerization kinetics provide a roadmap to direct the out-of-equilibrium arrangement of CNC particles in the 3D printed filaments,ranging from uniform nematic to 3D concentric chiral structures with controlled pitch length,as well as random orientation of chiral domains.Our biomimetic approach can pave the way for the creation of materials with superior mechanical properties or programable photonic responses that arise from 3D nano/microstructure and can be translated into larger scale 3D printed designs.

The precise detection of lysozyme plays a crucial role in early diagnosis of kidney failure in leukemia patients.Herein,we designed an electrochemical aptasensor to detect lysozyme using a glassy carbon electrode(GCE)modified with molybdenum disulfide(MoS_(2))nanosheets decorated with chitosan(Ch)and gold nanoparticles(Au).In the next steps of aptasensor preparation,aptamer(Apt)strands were immobilized on MoS_(2)-Au-Ch/GCE surface via electrostatic interactions,and bovine serum albumin(BSA)solution was applied to cover unbonded areas on Apt/MoS_(2)-Au-Ch/GCE.The MoS_(2)-Au-Ch nanocomposite can warrant enhanced immobilization of aptamers and strong signals because of wrinkle-like structure and base planes in MoS nanosheets,presence of abundant amino and carboxyl functional groups in chitosan and Au nanoparticles.Differential pulse voltammetry(DPV)was used to evaluate the electrochemical behavior of the aptasensor at each preparation step and its detection performance.The developed electrochemical aptasensor based on MoS nanosheets showed remarkable performance for lysozyme detection in the range from 1 pmol/L to 10 nmol/L with a limit of detection of 2.2 fmol/L.The proposed aptasensor provided excellent selectivity against BSA,uric acid,cytochrome C,lysozyme and their mixture.In addition,it displayed great stability of about 99.58%of the initial signal upon 21-day storage.Tests on human serum and urine samples yielded promising recoveries ranging from 98 to 105%.Hence,MoS_(2)-Au-Ch nanocomposite-based aptasensor could be an outstanding candidate for medical device applications and protein quantification.
