Bivalve molluscan shellfish such as oysters are important vectors for the transmission of foodborne pathogens including both viruses and *** provides a cold-sterilization option against the contamination as excited photosensitizers could transfer electronic energy to oxygen molecules producing reactive oxygen species such as singlet oxygen,leading to oxidative damage and death of the ***,the efficacy of photoinactivation is very often compromised by the presence of food matrix due to the nonselective reactions of short-lived singlet oxygen with organic matter other than the target *** order to address this issue,we encapsulated a food-grade photosensitizer rose bengal(RB)in alginate *** extra coating of chitosan effectively prevented the release of RB from the microbeads in seawater,and more importantly,enhanced the selectivity of the photoinactivation via the electrostatic interactions between cationic chitosan and anionic charge of the virus particles(bacteriophage MS2 and Tulane virus)and the Gram-negative bacteria Vibrio parahaemolyticus(V parahaemolyticus).The treatment of oysters with microencapsulated RB resulted in significantly higher reductions of MS2 phage,Tulane virus and V parahaemolyticus than free RB and non-RB carrying microbeads(P<0.05)tested with both in vitro and in vivo experimental *** study demonstrated a new strategy in delivering comprehensively formulated biochemical sanitizers in bivalve shellfish through their natural filter-feeding activity and thereby enhancing the mitigation efficiency of foodborne pathogen contamination.

1% oxygen is incorporated into both CdS and CdTe layers through RF sputtering of CdS/CdTe thin film solar cells. The optical and electrical parameters of the oxygenated and OE-free devices are compared after CdC12 treatment and annealing in ambient Ar and/or air. The effects of ambient annealing on the electrical and optical properties of the films are investigated using current-voltage characterization, field emission scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and optical transmission spectroscopy. The 1% oxygen content can slightly increase the grain size while the crystallinity does not change. Annealing in ambient Ar can increase the transmission rate of the oxygenated devices.

Hereditary polyposis syndrome can be divided into three categories:Adenomatous,serrated,and hamartomatous *** polyps,malformations of normal tissue presenting in a disorganized manner,are characterized by an autosomal dominant inheritance *** syndromes exhibit hamartomatous gastrointestinal polyps in conjunction to extra-intestinal manifestations,which require conscientious and diligent ***-Jeghers syndrome,Cowden syndrome,and juvenile polyposis syndrome are the most common displays of hamartomatous polyposis syndrome(HPS).Diagnosis can be pursued with molecular testing and endoscopic *** identification of these autosomal dominant pathologies allows to optimize malignancy surveillance,which helps reduce morbidity and mortality in both the affected patient population as well as at-risk family *** surveillance is an important pillar of prognosis and monitoring,with many patients eventually requiring surgical *** this review,we discuss the diagnosis,surveillance,and management of HPS.

Modeling the defect distribution and degradation of CdTe ultrathin films

The defect distribution across an ultrathin film CdTe layer of a CdS/CdTe solar cell is modelled by solving the balance equation in steady state. The degradation of the device parameters due to the induced defects during ion implantation is considered where the degradation rate is accelerated if the defect distribution is *** defect concentration is maximum at the surface of the CdTe layer where implantation is applied and it is minimum at the junction with the CdS layer. It shows that ultrathin devices degrade faster if the defect concentration is high at the junction rather than the back region（CdTe/Metal）. Since the front and back contacts of the device are close in ultrathin films and the electric field is strong to drive the defects into the junction, the p-doping process might be precisely controlled during ion implantation. The modeling results presented here are in agreement with the few available experimental reports in literature about the degradation and defect configuration of the ultrathin CdTe films.

The effects of viscous dissipation on thermal entrance heat transfer in a parallel plate channel filled with a saturated porous medium,is investigated analytically on the basis of a Darcy *** case of isothermal boundary is *** local and the bulk temperature distribution along with the Nusselt number in the thermal entrance region were found. The fully developed Nusselt number, independent of the Brinkman number, is found to be 6. It is observed that neglecting the effects of viscous dissipation would lead to the well-known case of internal flows,with Nusselt number equal to 4 93.A finite difference numerical solution is also utilized. It is seen that the results of these two methods, analytical and numerical, are in good agreement.

Land-use type under different topographic conditions and human activities affects soil development. We investigated the effects of land-use,topography and human activity on soil classification changes in the Toshan watershed in northern *** representative pedons derived from loess parent materials were studied on different land-uses and topographic positions. The studied pedons in forest(FO) on backslopes and footslope were classified as Calcic Haploxeralfs and Typic Haploxeralfs, respectively. The soils in abandoned lands(AB) and orchards(OR), where formerly under natural forests, located on the shoulder and backslopes positions were classified as Calcic Haploxeralfs and Vertic Haploxeralfs, ***-developed argillic horizons as indicators for higher degrees of soil evolution were observed in more-stable areas under the natural forest or less disturbed areas. Clay lessivage through these soil profiles have led to formation of Typic or Calcic Haploxeralfs, while under croplands(CP) were classified as Typic Calcixerepts. Conversion of sloping deforested areas to CP along with inappropriate management have accelerated soil erosion, resulting in unstable conditions in which decalcification and formation of developed soils cannot occur. Paddy cultivation in flat areas has caused to reduced conditions and formation of Typic *** of unfavorable conditions for chemical weathering(e.g. lower water retention compared to more-stable areas) no vermiculite was detected in the CP. The results showed that evolution and classification of the studied soils were strongly affected by land-use type, topography and management.
