CCL2-2518 A/G and CCR2 190 A/G do not influence the outcome of hepatitis C virus infection in the Spanish population

AiM： To assess whether CCL2 or interactions between this chemokine and its receptor （CCR2） are associated with outcomes of chronic hepatitis C and with responses to antiviral therapy. METHODS： Two hundred and eighty-four patients with chronic hepatitis C and 193 non-infected matched controls were included in this study. Patients were categorized according to their Scheuer score of hepatic fibrosis as F0-F2 （/7 = 202） or F3-F4 （/7 = 82） and according to their response to anti-Hepatitis C virus （HCV） therapy as sustained response （SR, n = 201） or non-sustained response （nSR, n = 98）. Genotyping of the -2518 （A/G） CCL2 was performed using PCR-RFLP, genotyping of the 190 （A/G） CCR2 using a PCR-ARMS system, and genotyping of the rs3138042 （G/A） CCR2 using Taqman probes. RESULTS： Univariate analyses identified 4 parameters （infection duration time, viral genotype, gender and AST levels） that tended to influence fibrosis and 7 parameters （CCL2G, CCL2ACCR2A, viremia levels, fibrosis stage, viral genotype, infection duration time and AST levels） that significantly influenced or tended to influence response to treatment. Multivariate analysis identified gender and AST levels as parameters that independently influenced fibrosis stage and viral genotype and infection duration time were the two parameters that independently influenced response to treatment. COnCLUSiOn： Our results indicate that the mutations studied in the gene pair CCL2/CCR2 do not play a major role in the outcome and response to treatment for HCV infection in the Spanish population.

Evolutionary history and phylogeography of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) in Europe based on molecular markers

in this review we summarized recent historical records and molecular studies on evolutionary history and phylogeography of Scots pine with focus on the European highly fragmented distribution area of the species. Fossilized pollen, plant micro- and macrofossil records provided evidences on the large-scale species’ range shifts and demographic changes during the Quaternary. Populations of Scots pine were documented both in the glacial (incl. full glaciation) and interglacial periods. Recolonization of Europe after the glaciation originated from the (Sub) Mediterranean areas like the Balkan Peninsula but also from around the Eastern Alps and the surroundings of the Danube plain. Fennoscandia and northern European Baltic regions were most probably colonized from two main directions, from Western Europe and from the Russian Plain. Modern history of Scots pine was hardly affected by anthropogenic activities that started to strengthen in the Bronze and iron Age. Along with the fossil records, molecular genetic tools were used to infer the origin and putative history including migration, differentiation and demography of the species. in this paper we compiled the major publications (30) of molecular genetic studies of the past 20 years derived from distinctly inherited organelle genomes (mitochondrial, chloroplast, nuclear) revealed by different marker systems (mtDnA-cox1, -nad1, -nad3, -nad7, iSSR, cpSSR, nSSR, B-SAP, SnP). it is important to consider that different phylogeographic patterns can be drawn by the analysis of different DnA marker types. Accordingly the use of more than one marker simultaneously outlines the most sophisticated phylogeographical pattern on the genetic lineages and can reveal high differentiation of the European distribution. Combined marker systems and markers derived from coding sequences have also been used to detect species’ phylogeographic patterns, but these were rarely applied to Scots pine. Optimizing Electroless Plating of ni-Mo-P Coatings Toward Functional Ceramics

ni-Mo-P coatings are obtained at the surface of ceramic substrate by electroless deposition using palladium as a surface *** influence of catalyst activation conditions on coatings’ properties was assessed by structural,morphological,electrical,mechanical measurements and adhesion strength by using X-ray diffraction,field emission scanning electron microscopy,atomic force microscopy,Hall effect and nanoindentation techniques,*** results indicated the formation of dense,continuous and uniform coatings consisting mainly of *** coatings obtained at 300℃for 12 h exhibited the best electrical properties,namely resistivity of 9.32 μΩ cm,smaller roughness(Ra 0.090 μm) and average mechanical *** adhesion tests showed a firm adherence of the ni-Mo-P coatings to the ceramic *** results of this study could offer an approach for obtaining conducting ceramic substrates in order to be employed in photovoltaic *** performance of demonstrative heterojunction solar cell obtained with such metallized ceramic is indicative of the high potential of the ni-Mo-P electroless coatings for functional ceramics.

Recent advances in room-temperature phosphorescent materials by manipulating intermolecular interactions

Metal-free room-temperature phosphorescence(RTP)materials have the characteristics of large Stokes shift,long lifetime,and triplet state *** exhibit application potential in various fields,such as bioimaging,computer display,sensor,and anticounterfeiting and have drawn much research *** work showed that manipulating intermolecular interactions(e.g.,crystallization,polymerization,and rigid matrix)and host-guest assembly to restrain nonradiative transitions and isolate phosphor from oxygen as much as possible is a feasible way to obtain various types of efficient RTP *** some cases,intermolecular interactions also facilitated RTP emission by regulating the triplet *** the other hand,heavy atoms(Br,i,etc.),heteroatoms(n,O,S,etc.),or carbonyls were introduced to the molecular skeleton through molecular engineering to enhance intersystem crossing,which is important for populating the triplet *** comprehensively using the aforesaid strategies,great progress has been made for RTP *** this mini-review,we summarized recent advances in organic RTP materials based on manipulating intermolecular *** host-guest assembly,hydrogen-bond assembly,energy transfer process,and exciplex emission system-based RTP materials were well *** summary,the current challenges and prospects for development in this field were presented.

Based on the experiment and the thermodynamics analysis for CuO/Al system, it is founded that the compounding reaction of CuO/Al under low temperature is available. The general equation of adiabatic temperature of the system is set up, and the influence of resultant concentration and temperature on adiabatic temperature is theoretically analyzed. The values of heat effect of CuO/Al system under different temperature are also caculated.

Covalent Organic Framework with Predesigned Single-ion Traps for Highly Efficient Palladium Recovery from Wastes

The recovery of palladium from waste streams is of importance for metal recycling and environmental ***,we present a“single-ion trap”strategy for efficiently recovering Pd(ii)from superacidic solutions and laboratory *** was realized by rational design and synthesis of an antiparallel stacked covalent organic framework(ACOF)with hydrazine-carbonyl sites and pyridine sites for cooperative Pd(ii)*** single-ion traps provided Lewis base sites with a high Pd(ii)binding affinity,enabling the trapping of Pd(ii)ions under a wide range of *** developed ACOF-1 adsorbent demonstrated fast kinetics,excellent selectivity,and a high adsorption capacity of 412.9±14.2 mg/g for Pd(ii)in a 3M HnO_(3) *** applied in a packed column,ACOF-1 dynamically captured Pd(ii)from3M HnO_(3) solutions or laboratorywastes containing trace amounts of palladium and many other metals,realizing extraction efficiencies of 232.9 and 320.9 mg/g,*** experimental and theoretical studies revealed that the single-ion traps offered exceptionally strong binding of Pd(ii)under both acidic and high ionic strength conditions,enabling selective adsorptive behavior not accessible using traditional ***,the general design strategy reported here could be used to create porous adsorbents for the capture of other precious metals.
