Phenotypic plasticity in prostate cancer： role of ntrinsically disordered proteins

A striking characteristic of cancer ceLls is their remarkable phenotypic plasticity, which is the ability to switch states or phenotypes in response to environmental fluctuations. Phenotypic changes such as a partial or complete epithelial to mesenchymal transition （EMT） that play important roles in their survival and proliferation, and development of resistance to therapeutic treatments, are widely believed to arise due to somatic mutations in the genome. However, there is a growing concern that such a deterministic view is not entirely consistent with multiple lines of evidence, which indicate that stochasticity may also play an important role in driving phenotypic plasticity. Here, we discuss how stochasticity in protein interaction networks （PINs） may play a key role in determining phenotypic plasticity in prostate cancer （PCa）. Specifically, we point out that the key players driving transitions among different phenotypes （epithelial, mesenchymal, and hybrid epithelial/mesenchymal）, including ZEB1, SNAIl, OVOL1, and OVOL2, are intrinsically disordered proteins （IDPs） and discuss how plasticity at the molecular level may contribute to stochasticity in phenotypic switching by rewiring PINs. We conclude by suggesting that targeting iDPs implicated in EMT in PCa may be a new strategy to gain additional insights and develop novel treatments for this disease, which is the most common form of cancer in adult men.

PAPR Reduction in NOMA by Using Hybrid Algorithms

Non-orthogonal multiple access(NOMA)is gaining considerable attention due to its features,such as low out-of-band radiation,signal detection capability,high spectrum gain,fast data rate,and massive D2D *** may be considered for 5G ***,the high peak-to-average power ratio(PAPR)is viewed as a significant disadvantage of a NOMA waveform,and it weakens the quality of signals and the throughput of the *** this article,we introduce a modified NOMA system by employing a block of wavelet transform,an alternative to FFT(Fast Fourier transform).The modified system combines the details of fractional frequency and time analysis of NOMA *** this correspondence,we utilize an advanced partial transmission scheme(PTS),and selective mapping(SLM),and present a genetic algorithm(GA)for SLM to investigate the peak power performance of a WT-based NOMA *** performance of WT-SLM,WT-PTS,and WT-SLM-GA methods is compared with that of the traditional NOMAbased SLM and PTS *** simulation results demonstrate that the proposed system effectively reduces PAPR in comparison with the traditional schemes.

In the present work,a compressible and lubricating space-holder material commonly known as "acrawax" was used to process Cu foams with various pore sizes and various *** foams were processed without using binders to avoid contamination of their metal *** lubricant space-holder material was found to facilitate more uniform flow and distribution of metal powder around the surface of the space *** addition,the use of acrawax as a space-holder material yielded considerably dense cell walls,which are an essential prerequisite for better material *** foams processed with a smaller-sized space holder were found to exhibit better electrical and mechanical properties than those processed with a coarser-sized space *** isotropic pore shape,uniform pore distribution throughout the metal matrix,and uniform cell wall thickness were found to enhance the properties pertaining to fine-pore foam *** processed foams exhibit properties similar to those of the foams processed through the lost-carbonate sintering process.

The energy security concern and rapidly diminishing fossil fuel resources demand the development of renewable and economically attractive fuel for reciprocating *** is a promising renewable alternative *** studies have been carried out to explore the various aspects of the utilization of methanol in compression ignition(CI)*** review paper presents a detailed analysis of the effect of methanol on performance,combustion,and emission(NOx,CO,HC,and soot)characteristics of conventional CI-engine along with dual-fuel combustion *** study focuses on methanol utilization in dual-fuel mode,which is an advanced engine combustion ***,methanol production and solubility issues of methanol in diesel are briefly *** study discusses the soot and nano-particle emission from the methanol fueled CI-engine,which is one of the main concerns in the current emission *** was found that the utilization of methanol in CI-engine has the potential to improve the performance and simultaneously with a significant reduction in NOx,CO,soot,and nano-particle emissions in comparison to neat diesel ***,unburnt HC emission reduces for methanol-diesel blended fuel operation whereas HC emissions are higher for methanoldiesel dual-fuel operation.

Some Observations about the MOLSCAT

For calculation of cross sections for collisional transitions between rotational levels in a molecule,a computer code,MOLSCAT is *** the transitions between rotational levels in H_2 CS due to collisions with He atom,we have calculated cross sections under the CS approximation,for example,for total energy 11 cm^(-1).The calculations have been done for the single energy 11 cm"1 and for ten *** have found that the cross sections for the single energy 11 cm^(-1),differ from those in the first seven combinations,but are in agreement with those in the last three *** reason for the difference in the results appears that the MOLSCAT uses the intermediate data of calculations for one energy,in the calculations for other *** agreement with the last three combinations may be understood that when the energy of combination is in the decreasing trend,the cross sections for the first(common)energy are *** may be suggested to run the MOLSCAT for a single energy at a time.

Hill slope instability of Nainital City,Kumaun Lesser Himalaya,Uttarakhand,India

Nainital City of Kumaun Lesser Himalaya is prone to mass wasting processes during monsoon season,which mischievously triggers the hill slope instability in this region. Slate, dolomitic limestone, silty sandstone and rhythmite of the Krol Formation are the main rock types. The present study focuses on the investigation of slope stability in the region in terms of potential seismicity and landslide. Geological and geotechnical mapping indicates that the major portion of the area is characterized by slope wash materials and buildings. The combination of 3-4 joint sets with one random joint is the main structure at *** major geological structures of this area are Nainital lake fault passing from the center of the lake, Main Boundary Thrust at SW, and Khuriya Fault passing from the SE direction of Nainital City. This work finds that different types of discontinuities(e.g. joints and faults), overburden due to unplanned civil structures,and neotectonic activity in the vicinity of this ara affect the stability of the city. The slate forms the base of the city, dipping slightly towards the lake side along the NW direction, thus accelerating the instability of this area. Rock mass rating(RMR), slope mass rating, factor of safety(FOS) and graphical analysis of the discontinuity for slope kinematics indicate that the study area is a landslide-prone zone. This study can facilitate reducing the risk of human life, and contribute to the ongoing construction works in the area.

Slope stability analysis of Balia Nala landslide, Kumaun Lesser Himalaya, Nainital, Uttarakhand, India

Balia Nala is the outlet of the Nainital lake, flowing towards southeast direction. Presence of Nainital habitation at its right bank has high socio-economic importance. This study presents the stability analysis of a ravine/valley along Balia Nala. Variegated slates(lower Krol and upper Blaini formations) are the main rock types, wherever the outcrop does exist and rest of the area is covered by slope wash and river borne materials. Three sets of joints are presented in the area, but 4 sets of joints also exist at some locations. Nainital lake fault intersected by Manora fault from southwest direction passes through eastern side of the study area, and some small faults, which are sub-branches of Nainital lake fault, are observed(with 10 m offset) and promote the landslide in the area. This study shows that different kinds of discontinuities(joints, faults and shear zones) and rapid down cutting by the stream due to neotectonic activity affect the stability of the slope. The fragile lithology and deep V-shaped valley further accelerate the mass movement in the study area. In addition, rock mass rating(RMR), factor of safety(FOS) and graphical analysis of the joints indicate the study area as landslide-prone zone. This study will be helpful in not only reducing the risk on life of people, but also in assisting the ongoing civil work in the study area.

The height of total entropy(S)for a magnetic refrigerant material is essentially concerned with the magnetic and structural ***,the participation of such transitions in layered materials is not well ***,the purpose of this work is to investigate the interplay between double layer lattice with their single perovskite counterpart,to achieve optimal magnetocaloric performance.A series of self-doped Pr_(1.4+x)Sr_(1.6-x)Mn_(2)O_(7)(0.0≤x≤0.5)Ruddlesden-Popper(R-P)perovskite have been prepared through the solid-state sintering *** increasing the Pr-stoichiometry,the lattice faults have increased and the double layer lattice dramatically disintegrates into single perovskite *** to the reduction of bilayer R-P phase into single perovskite the spin crossover occurs from weak bilayer(T=304 K)interactions towards the strong three-dimensional(T=308 K)interactions *** series consistently develops thermomagnetic irreversibility in zero-field cooled(ZFC)-field cooled(FC)magnetization,which is indicative of a spin-glass *** glassy nature has been ascribed collectively to the lattice strain produced because of dislocations and to an antiferromagnetic phase segregated at the *** maximum value of temperature average entropy change(TEC)and adiabatic temperature(ΔT)has enhanced nearly by 4 folds from 0.53 J kg^(-1)K^(-1),0.59 K(for x=0.0)up to 1.85 J kg^(-1)K^(-1),10 K(for x=0.5)at 2.5 T,***,the room temperature relative cooling power has improved from 26.94 J/kg up to 77.84 J/kg with an applied field of 2.5 *** findings in this work suggest that the controlled reduction of double layer lattice into single perovskite and/or existence of both phases simultaneously in bilayer R-P manganites may be very effective in obtaining the desirable characteristics of magnetocaloric effects.

The Forest Department in the State of Uttar Pradesh, India developed Forest Management Information System (FMIS) for achieving organizational goals of improved financial and human resource management, improvement in the management of forests and wildlife, and for achieving responsive administration. This paper, based on field research, presents an assessment of the dynamics of FMIS in organizational context for a better understanding of such systems in forestry organizations. The paper also investigates the success of FMIS in assisting decision makers in achieving organizational goals. Based on the knowledge developed during the course of the study, key learning elements have been highlighted for the benefit of the stakeholders in information systems in forest sector.

Controversies in testosterone supplementation therapy

Testosterone has now become one of the most widely used medications throughout the world. The rapid growth of the testosterone market in the past 10 years is due to many factors. We currently have a worldwide aging population. In the US, the number of men 65 years old or older is increasing 2-3 times faster than the number of men younger than 65 years. In addition, poor general health and certain medical conditions such as diabetes/metabolic syndrome （MetS）, cardiovascular disease （CVD）, and osteoporosis have been associated with low serum testosterone levels？-3 There are now fewer concerns regarding the development of prostate cancer （PCa） after testosterone therapy, making it a more attractive treatment option. Finally, the introduction of different forms of testosterone supplementation therapy （TST） with increased promotion, marketing, and direct-to-consumer advertising is also driving market growth. As the demand for TST continues to grow, it is becoming more important for clinicians to understand how to diagnose and treat patients with low testosterone.
