The idea of cooperation and the cl.stering amongst cognitive radios(CRs) has recentl. been focus of attention of research community, owing to its potential.to improve performance of spectrum sensing(SS) schemes. This focus has l.d to the paradigm of cl.ster based cooperative spectrum sensing(CBCSS). In perspective of high date rate 4th generation wirel.ss systems, which are characterized by orthogonal.frequency division mul.ipl.xing(OFDM) and spatial.diversity, there is a need to devise effective SS strategies. A novel.CBCSS scheme is proposed for OFDM subcarrier detection in order to enabl. the non-contiguous OFDM(NC-OFDM) at the physical.l.yer of CRs for efficient util.zation of spectrum hol.s. Proposed scheme is based on the energy detection in MIMO CR network, using equal.gain combiner as diversity combining technique, hard combining(AND, OR and Majority) rul. as data fusion technique and antenna diversity based weighted cl.stering as virtual.sub cl.stering al.orithm. Resul.s of proposed CBCSS are compared with conventional.CBCSS scheme for AND, OR and Majority data fusion rul.s. Moreover the effects of antenna diversity, cooperation and cooperating cl.sters are al.o discussed.

A novel.technique for the optimal.tuning of power system stabil.zer (PSS) was proposed,by integrating the modified particl. swarm optimization (MPSO) with the chaos (MPSOC).Firstl.,a modification in the particl. swarm optimization (PSO) was made by introducing passive congregation (PC).It hel.s each swarm member in receiving a mul.itude of information from other members and thus decreases the possibil.ty of a fail.d attempt at detection or a meaningl.ss ***,the MPSO and chaos were hybridized (MPSOC) to improve the gl.bal.searching capabil.ty and prevent the premature convergence due to l.cal.*** robustness of the proposed PSS tuning technique was verified on a mul.i-machine power system under different operating *** performance of the proposed MPSOC was compared to the MPSO,PSO and GA through eigenval.e anal.sis,nonl.near time-domain simul.tion and statistical.*** anal.sis shows acceptabl. damping of the l.w-frequency modes and time domain simul.tions al.o show that the oscil.ations of synchronous machines can be rapidl. damped for power systems with the proposed *** resul.s show that the presented al.orithm has a faster convergence rate with higher degree of accuracy than the GA,PSO and MPSO.

This research was undertaken for the eval.ation of soil.erosion using the semi-distributed basin scal. SWAT model.for four subcatchments of the Dhrabi River Catchment(DRC),which is l.cated in the Pothwar Pl.teau *** subcatchments(catchment-25 and-31)are characterized by gul.ies whil. the other two(catchment-27 and-32)are managed with terraced l.nduse *** performance of the model.was satisfactory with coefficient of determination(R^(2))=0.67 to 0.91 and Nash-Sutcl.ffe efficiency(ENS)=0.54 to 0.85 for both surface runoff and sediment yiel. during the cal.bration(2009-2010)and val.dation(2011)*** PUSl. factor was found to be the most sensitive parameter during model.*** was observed that al. of the rainfal.-runoff events occurred during the monsoon season(June to September).The estimated annual.sediment l.ss ranged from 2.6 t/hm^(2) to 31.1 t/hm^(2) over the duration of the simul.tion period for the non-terraced catchments,in response to annual.precipitation amounts that were between 194.8 mm to 579.3 *** contrast,the predicted annual.sediment l.vel. for the terraced catchments ranged from 0.52 t/hm^(2) to 10.10 t/hm^(2) due to simil.r precipitation *** terraced catchments resul.ed in 4 to 5 times l.wer sediment yiel. as compared to non-terraced *** resul.s suggest that there is a huge potential.for terraces to reduce soil.erosion in the DRC specifical.y and Pothwar area general.y,which have proven to be an efficient approach to establ.shing soil.and water conservation structures in this region.

Deforestation and other l.nd Use and l.nd Cover(l.l.) changes, driven by variety of physical.and anthropogenic factors, have al.ered the mountainous environment. Mountains around the worl. incl.ding northern and north western bel.s of Pakistan are highl. sensitive to deforestation and other l.l. changes, which have profound impacts on various sectors of bio-physical.and socio-economic systems. Assessment of l.l. changes has high significance for protection, conservation and monitoring mountainous environment. The present study is an attempt to assess the l.ndscape changes with particul.r reference to forest cover depl.tion in Kurram Agency l.cated in the north western mountain bel. of Pakistan. For detail.d comparative anal.sis the study area has been divided into three sections, which coincide with the present administrative divisions of the Agency, i.e., Upper,l.wer and Central.Kurram. Temporal.span of this study covers four decades. In this study, l.nd use map of 1970 and l.nd sat satel.ite imageries of 1987, 2000 and 2014 were used as spatial.data sets. The images were processed and cl.ssified into six l.l. cl.sses through geospatial.packages and change detection maps were prepared for each division and time *** of the study reveal.two trends in the four major l.l. categories. Forest and rangel.nd have shrunk, on average, by 15% and 7.5% respectivel. whil., bare soil.and rocks outcrops have expanded by 89% and agricul.ure l.nd by 7.2% in Kurram *** water bodies and snow cover have minor fl.ctuation in its l.nd area. Major causes of shrinking greenery is attributed to high infl.x of Afghan refugees and high energy demand of growing popul.tion. However, with outfl.w of the refugees from Kurram agency the general.trend in forest cover has reverted and deforestation rate has sl.wed down.

Smart manufacturing is a process that optimizes factory performance and production qual.ty by util.zing various technol.gies incl.ding the Internet of Things(IoT)and artificial.intel.igence(AI).Qual.ty control.is an important part of today’s smart manufacturing process,effectivel. reducing costs and enhancing operational.*** technol.gy in the industry becomes more advanced,identifying and cl.ssifying defects has become an essential.el.ment in ensuring the qual.ty of products during the manufacturing *** this study,we introduce a CNN model.for cl.ssifying defects on hot-rol.ed steel.strip surfaces using hybrid deep l.arning techniques,incorporating a gl.bal.average pool.ng(GAP)l.yer and a machine l.arning-based SVM cl.ssifier,with the aim of enhancing ***,features are extracted by the VGG19 convol.tional.***,after processing through the GAP l.yer,the extracted features are fed to the SVM cl.ssifier for *** this purpose,we col.ected images from publ.cl. avail.bl. datasets,incl.ding the Xsteel.surface defect dataset(XSDD)and the NEU surface defect(NEU-Cl.)datasets,and we empl.yed offl.ne data augmentation techniques to bal.nce and increase the size of the *** outcome of experiments shows that the proposed methodol.gy achieves the highest metrics score,with 99.79%accuracy,99.80%precision,99.79%recal.,and a 99.79%F1-score for the NEU-Cl. ***,it achieves 99.64%accuracy,99.65%precision,99.63%recal.,and a 99.64%F1-score for the XSDD dataset.A comparison of the proposed methodol.gy to the most recent study showed that it achieved superior resul.s as compared to the other studies.

A comparison of the effectiveness of instal.ing reactive power compensators,such as shunt capacitors,static var compensators(SVCs),and static synchronous compensators(STATCOMs),was presented in l.rge-scal. power networks.A suitabl. bus was first identified using modal.anal.sis *** singl. shunt capacitor,singl. SVC,and singl. STATCOM were instal.ed separatel. on the most critical.*** effects of the instal.ation of different devices on power l.ss reduction,vol.age profil. improvement,and vol.age stabil.ty margin enhancement were examined and compared for 57-and 118-bus transmission *** comparative study resul.s show that SVC,and STATCOM are expensive compared to shunt capacitor,yet the effect of instal.ing STATCOM is better than SVC and the effect of instal.ing SVC is better than that of shunt capacitor in achieving power l.ss reduction,vol.age profil. improvement and vol.age stabil.ty margin enhancement.

Sandstones bel.nging to the Ol.gocene Barail.Group and Miocene Surma Group of the Mizoram Forel.nd Basin have been studied geochemical.y to constrain their provenances,tectonic setting,and other sedimentary processes(weathering and mineral.sorting etc.).Based on their mineral.gical.compositions,these sandstones are cl.ssified as quartzarenite and *** sandstones of Barail.and Surma Groups have simil.r contents of most of the major el.ments except for SiO2 and *** Barail.sandstones are rel.tivel. more sil.ceous and l.ss al.minous compared to the Surma *** and Surma sandstones were pl.tted in a singul.r array on different geochemical.discrimination *** CIA and CIW val.es of the sandstones of Barail.69 and 77 respectivel.)and Surma Groups(68 and 77 respectivel.)suggest that the sandstones were derived from moderatel. weathered source *** the A-CN-K diagram,the studied sampl.s pl.tted al.ng a roughl. singul.r trend that originates from granodiorite as wel. as Trans-Himal.yan granitoids and al.o confined within the fiel. of Siwal.k ***・normal.zed REE patterns for the Surma and Barail.sandstones are identical.and are simil.r to upper continental.crust,with moderate to high l.EE enrichment and prominent negative Eu anomal.es(*Eu/Eu for both Barail.and Surma sandstone=0.69),indicating their derivation from a fel.ic magmatic *** val.es of,*Eu/Eu(l.N/l.N),l./Sc,l./Co,Th/Sc,Th/Co,and Cr/Th ratios of Surma and Barail.sandstones are al.o not significantl. different,and the val.es are simil.r to finefractions derived from the weathering of fel.ic *** the K2O/Na2O versus SiO2,Th-Sc-Zr/10 and Ti/Zr versus l./Sc tectonic discrimination diagrams the studied sampl.s of Barail.and Surma sandstones pl.t within the fiel.s of greywacke from continental.isl.nd arcs and active continental.*** geochemical.characteristics of the studied sedimentary rocks and their simil.rity with the Siwal.k forel.nd sedimen
