Application of automated image analysis to the identification and extraction of recyclable plastic bottles

An experimental machine vision apparatus was used to identify and extract recyclable plastic bottles out of a conveyor belt. Color images were taken with a commercially available Webcam, and the recognition was performed by our homemade software, based on the shape and dimensions of object images. The software was able to manage multiple bottles in a single image and was additionally extended to cases involving touching bottles. The identification was fulfilled by comparing the set of measured features with an existing database and meanwhile integrating various recognition techniques such as minimum distance in the feature space, self-organized maps, and neural networks. The recognition system was tested on a set of 50 different bottles and provided so far an accuracy of about 97% on bottle identification. The extraction of the bottles was performed by means of a pneumatic arm, which was activated according to the plastic type; polyethylene-terephthalate (PET) bottles were left on the conveyor belt, while non-PET bottles were extracted. The software was designed to provide the best compromise between reli-ability and speed for real-time applications in view of the commercialization of the system at existing recycling plants.

Background:Contrast enhancement plays an important role in the image processing *** correction has performed an adjustment on the darkness or brightness of the input image and increases the quality of the ***:This paper proposed a novel method based on statistical data from the local mean and local standard ***:The proposed method modifies the mean and standard deviation of a neighbourhood at each pixel and divides it into three categories:background,foreground,and problematic(contrast&luminosity)*** results from both visual and objective aspects show that the proposed method can normalize the contrast variation problem effectively compared to Histogram Equalization(HE),Difference of Gaussian(DoG),and Butterworth Homomorphic Filtering(BHF).Seven(7)types of binarization methods were tested on the corrected image and produced a positive and impressive ***:Finally,a comparison in terms of Signal Noise Ratio(SNR),Misclassification Error(ME),F-measure,Peak Signal Noise Ratio(PSNR),Misclassification Penalty Metric(MPM),and Accuracy was *** binarization method shows an incremented result after applying it onto the corrected image compared to the original *** SNR result of our proposed image is 9.350 higher than the three(3)other *** average increment after five(5)types of evaluation are:(Otsu=41.64%,Local Adaptive=7.05%,Niblack=30.28%,Bernsen=25%,Bradley=3.54%,Nick=1.59%,Gradient-Based=14.6%).Conclusion:The results presented in this paper effectively solve the contrast problem and finally produce better quality images.

Prebiotics are substrates that can increase bacterial growth while also benefiting the *** presence of enzymes responsible for hydrolysing the glycosidic bond in the prebiotic structure is critical for evaluating the prebiotic’s use by the bacterial *** silico analysis of bacterial genomes is a method for predicting the hydrolysing enzymes that cleave the glycosidic link in prebiotic ***,in vitro validation must be performed to further analyse and evaluate the bacterial ability to utilise ***,this study aims to investigate the ability of potential probiotic Bacillus velezensis FS26 to utilise prebiotics using in silico and in vitro *** FS26 genome analysis has shown the presence of glycosidase hydrolase enzymatic family that are capable of hydrolysingα-andβ-glycosidic bonds in polysaccharide and oligosaccharide *** enzymes responsible for prebiotic utilisation were found in the bacterial genomes includingα-galactosidase,fructofuranosidase,levansucrase andβ-***,an in vitro study employing the phenol red carbohydrates assay revealed that *** FS26 can utilise the prebiotics lactulose,raffinose,and inulin,with comparable results to the probiotic Lactiplantibacillus plantarum ATCC ***,the addition of prebiotics raffinose and inulin in the nutrient broth significantly increased the growth of *** FS26 cultures in contrast with prebiotic lactulose and nutrient broth without *** agreement of in silico and in vitro results indicates the promising capability of *** FS26 to utilise prebiotics in aquaculture,which is an important sector for maintaining global food security.

In recent years,there are numerous studies on chaotic systems with special equilibrium curves having various shapes such as circle,butterfly,heart and *** paper describes a new 3-D chaotic dynamical system with a capsule-shaped equilibrium *** proposed chaotic system has two quadratic,two cubic and two quartic nonlinear *** is noted that the proposed chaotic system has a hidden attractor since it has an infinite number of equilibrium *** is also established that the proposed chaotic system exhibits multi-stability with two coexisting chaotic attractors for the same parameter values but differential initial states.A detailed bifurcation analysis with respect to variations in the system parameters is portrayed for the new chaotic system with capsule equilibrium *** have shown MATLAB plots to illustrate the capsule equilibrium curve,phase orbits of the new chaotic system,bifurcation diagrams and *** an engineering application,we have proposed a speech cryptosystem with a numerical algorithm,which is based on our novel 3-D chaotic system with a capsule-shaped equilibrium *** proposed speech cryptosystem follows its security evolution and implementation on Field Programmable Gate Array(FPGA)*** results show that the proposed encryption system utilizes 33%of the FPGA,while the maximum clock frequency is 178.28 MHz.
