Trust is one of the core components of any ad hoc network security *** management(TM)has always been a challenging issue in a vehicular *** such developing network is the Internet of vehicles(IoV),which is expected to be an essential part of smart *** originated from the merger of Vehicular ad hoc networks(VANET)and the Internet of things(IoT).Security is one of the main barriers in the on-road IoV *** security standards are insufficient to meet the extremely dynamic and rapidly changing IoV *** plays a vital role in ensuring security,especially during vehicle to vehicle *** networks,having a unique nature among other wireless ad hoc networks,require dedicated efforts to develop trust *** TM schemes are inflexible and *** scenarios and limited parameters are the basis for existing TM models that are not suitable for vehicle *** vehicular network requires agile and adaptive solutions to ensure security,especially when it comes to critical *** vehicle network’s wireless nature increases its attack surface and exposes the network to numerous security ***,internet involvement makes it more vulnerable to *** proposed TM framework is based on context-based cognition and machine learning to be best suited to IoV *** learning is the best solution to utilize the big data produced by vehicle *** handle the uncertainty Bayesian machine learning statistical model is *** proposed framework can adapt scenarios dynamically and infer using the maximum possible parameter *** results indicated better performance than existing TM ***,for future work,a high-level machine learning model is proposed.

Stable Oxygen and Deuterium Isotope Techniques to Identify Plant Water Sources

There is still very little information on the sources of water absorbed by oil palm plant. This information is very important for water management system in oil palm plantation. Thus, this study was carried out to determine current water sources absorbed by the oil palm roots using oxygen (δ18O) and deuterium isotopes (δD) techniques. Sketches of oxygen and deuterium isotope were total rainfall, throughfall, runoff, measurement at 5 soil depths (namely: 20 cm, 50 cm, 100 cm, 150 cm, and 200 cm), and oil palm stem. Results of this study showed huge variance in the values of oxygen and deuterium isotope. Based on Least Significant Difference (LSD) test, there was no significant value in the oxygen and deuterium isotope of stem water and others;however, a similar value was obtained at the depths of 0 - 20 cm and 20 - 50 cm with the stem water. This indicated that oil palm absorbed water from 0 - 50 cm depth. This result agreed with the oil palm rooting system, which has verified that the root quarter is the most active root of oil palm.

Copper nanoparticles were impregnated onto oil palm empty fruit bunch (EFB) powders via in-situ sol-gel method. The impregnation and interfacial interaction of copper nanoparticles with EFB were analysed by fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The interaction of copper nanoparticles with the surface functional groups of EFB powders was identified by FTIR analysis. The peak shift of O-H and C-O functional groups indicated the interaction between EFB and copper nanoparticles. Besides that, XRD and EDX analysis confirmed the formation of copper nanoparticles on EFB powder. Due to the copper impregnation, the crystallinity of the EFB was increased as shown by XRD. The particles size of nanoparticles was analysed via TEM and AFM where the sizes were in the range of 60 - 100 nm. These findings strongly suggest that, copper nanoparticles impregnated EFB powders can be synthesized via in- situ sol gel method.

Protein Expression of STAT3, pSTAT3, MMP-7 and VEGF in Colorectal Adenocarcinoma: An Immunohistochemical Study

Background: The purpose of the present study is to investigate the expression levels of STAT3, pSTAT3, MMP-7 and VEGF in colorectal adenocarcinoma, and also to determine association with the clinico-pathological parameters and?co-expression of these genes. Methods: An immunohistochemical method was used to evaluate the expression of MMP-7 and VEGF genes in 93 archival tissues whereas STAT3 and pSTAT3 expression was determined in 75 cases. Results: Overexpression of STAT3 was detected in 26.7% (20/75), pSTAT3 in 13.4% (10/75), MMP-7 in 38.8% (36/93) and VEGF in 59.2% (55/93) of the colorectal carcinomas. STAT3, MMP-7 and VEGF immunopositivity were significantly correlated with poorly-differentiated tumors (P = 0.004;P = 0.03;P = 0.002, respectively) but not with other parameters. However, pSTAT3 immunostaining was not significantly associated with the clinico-pathological characteristics. Significant relationship was noted between overexpression of pSTAT3 and STAT3 (P < 0.001), pSTAT3 and VEGF (P = 0.044), pSTAT3 and MMP-7 (P = 0.003), and STAT3 and VEGF (P = 0.037) but marginal association was detected between STAT3 and MMP-7 (P = 0.057), and MMP-7 and VEGF (P = 0.052). Conclusion:?Our data suggest that expression of these genes?may have an important role in tumor dedifferentiation and?may be useful as indicators of biologic aggressiveness. Co-expression of the biomarkers by cancer cells?may have important implications in colorectal cancer biology and?could be useful biological markers of the malignant phenotype.

Herein we report an electrochemical DNA biosensor for the rapid detection of sequence (5’ AAT GGA TTT ATC TGC TCT TCG 3’) specific for the breast cancer 1 (BRCA1) gene. The proposed electrochemical genosensor is based on short oligonucleotide DNA probe immobilized onto zinc oxide nanowires (ZnONWs) chemically synthesized onto gold electrode via hydrothermal technique. The morphology studies of the ZnONWs, performed by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), showed that the ZnO nanowires are uniform, highly dense and oriented perpendicularly to the substrate. Recognition event between the DNA probe and the target was investigated by differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) in 0.1 M acetate buffer solution (abS), pH 7.00;as a result of the hybridization, an oxidation signal was observed at +0.8 V. The influences of pH, target concentration, and non-complimentary DNA on biosensor performance were examined. The proposed DNA biosensor has the ability to detect the target sequence in the range of concentration between 10.0 and 100.0 μM with a detection limit of 3.32 μM. The experimental results demonstrated that the prepared ZnONWs/Au electrodes are suitable platform for the immobilization of DNA.

Purpose: Glowacki and Mulliken (1982) described vascular lesions as hemangiomas and vascular malformations. Hemangiomas usually demonstrate endothelial hyperplasia and enlarge by cellular proliferation and usually appear in early infancy. They grow rapidly initially and then become stabilized. On the other hand, vascular malformations do not demonstrate cellular hyperplasia and they are always present at birth. They are collections of abnormal vessels with normal endothelium and mast cell count and they grow in proportion to body growth and never regress spontaneously. Methods:20 patients were seen at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, University Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre between July 2001 to January 2008 with vascular lesions in the oral cavity. There were 15 males and 5 females giving male: female ratio of 3:1. The age range was between l month old to 69 years old (mean age of 20.7). In relation to racial distribution, there were l0 Malays, 5 Indians and 5 Chinese patients. The vascular lesions involved the upper and lower lips including the commisures, buccal mucosa and the cheek, tongue, the mandible and maxilla. 14 patients were diagnosed with hemangioma (two cases of intraosseous hemangioma); 5 with vascular malformations [3 with venous malformations and 2 high flow arteriovenous malformations] and l patient with superficial angiomyxoma. 12 patients had treatment in the form of excision, serial excisions and embolization and excision; 4 patients did not have any active intervention as they were asymptomatic and 4 patients refused treatment. 2 patients presented with emergency condition i.e profused bleeding prior to diagnosis and they were both diagnosed with intmosseous hemangioma.
