Background:Various methods are used in forensic odontology for the purpose of sex and personal *** of them include cheiloscopy,rugoscopy,mandibular measurements,and study of paranasal *** our study,we have used maxillary sinus as an aid in sex *** this purpose,we have evaluated the morphometric and volumetric measurements of the maxillary sinus using a 3-Dimensional imaging modality,Cone Beam Computed *** and Objectives:Sex and age identification are important in the process of identification of both the living and the ***,this transverse retrospective study was done to appraise the precision of the dimensions and volume of the maxillary sinus to aid in sex and age *** and Methods:Eighty full Field of View(FOV)Cone-Beam Computed Tomography(CBCT)images were retrieved from the archives which were matched with age and *** maxillary sinuses on either side were measured mediolaterally in the axial section and supero-inferiorly in the coronal *** volumetric analysis of the sinus was done in the sagittal *** sex was classified using discriminant function analysis and the differences were compared using independent *** differences with age were analyzed using one-way ***:Independent t-test was done for comparison of the sinuses between both *** sinuses measurements were larger among the males both superior-inferiorly on either side(P<0.001)and mediolaterally on the right(P<0.049)showed statistically significant values.A significant correlation existed while comparing the maxillary sinus volume among both the sexes on either side(P<0.001 and<0.002 in the case of right and left respectively).On comparing the supero-inferior and mediolateral measurements and the maxillary sinus volume on either side among the various age groups,the values were statistically *** study shows that the maxillary sinus measurements using Cone-beam computed

Optical Emission Spectroscopic Study During the Evaporation of Aluminium in the Thermal Plasma Reactor

The oxidation of aluminium was studied using optical emission spectroscopy （OES） during the evaporation of aluminium in traces of oxygen in a thermal plasma reactor. The ratio of the measured line intensities of Al-O with that of Al follows the exact trend as of that obtained from the corresponding line intensities in X-ray diffraction spectra of the synthesized samples. In this paper the inherent capacity of emission spectroscopy in evaluating the growth processes under plasma induced reactions is presented.

14.77 MeV neutron-induced nuclear reaction cross sections for zinc,yttrium,and molybdenum targets

The cross sections for neutron-induced nuclear reactions on natural zinc, yttrium, and molybdenum targets were measured at a neutron energy of 14.77 ± 0.17 MeV using the activation technique, offline gamma-ray spectrometry, and a detailed covariance analysis. The uncertainty in the statistical model calculations of cross sections for the (n, 2n), (n, p), (n, α), and (n, γ) reactions with natural zinc, yttrium, and molybdenum at neutron energies from 13 to 17 MeV was calculated using the TALYS-1.96 nuclear code. The measured cross sections of the present study were compared with the experimental cross sections reported in the EXFOR database, the cross sections were calculated with the TALYS-1.96 and EMPIRE-3.2.3 nuclear codes and the evaluated nuclear data from the TENDL-2019, JENDL-5, and ENDF/B-VIII.0 libraries.

Evaluation of efficacy and safety of epalrestat and epalrestat in combination with methylcobalamin in patients with diabetic neuropathy in a randomized, comparative trial

Recent Background: Diabetic neuropathy is one of the major complications in long standing hyperglycemic patients. Though exact mechanism of neuronal damage is unclear, accumulation of excess sorbitol through polyol pathway is believed to contribute significantly. Epalrestat and methylcobalamin are extensively used in this area to counter neuronal damage. This study was aimed to evaluate the combined effect of these drugs. Materials and Methods: A total of 220 patients with diabetic neuropathy were included in this study. The patients were divided into two groups;group A was administered combination of epalrestat 50 mg and methylcobalamin 500 mcg while group B was administered epalrestat 50 mg alone (both thrice daily). The treatment period was 12 weeks with monitoring on week 4, 8 and 12 of the study. At baseline and at follow up visits following parameters were evaluated: loss of sensation, burning sensation, numbness, muscle cramps, spontaneous pain, weakness, dizziness, loss of the thermal sensitivity, tendon reflexes, muscle strength and pain intensity using visual analog scale (VAS). Results: All the parameters were improved in both the groups compared to baseline. In group A significant improvement was seen on week 4 itself and continued for the rest of the study in all the measured parameters. Group B showed significant improvement from 8th week onwards. The inter-group difference is statistically significant in favour of the combination therapy. Conclusion: Combination of epalrestat and methylcobalamin is a better option for the treatment of diabetic neuropathy than epalrestat alone. Combination therapy was associated with faster onset and better symptomatic relief.

Here we report the rapid synthesis method for nano magnetic particles of nickel ferrite involving direct current transferred arc thermal plasma assisted vapor phase condensation process. The as synthesized samples were characterized by X-ray Diffraction, Transmission Electron Microscopy, Vibrating Sample Magnetometer and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy techniques. The particle size was determined from the TEM micrographs and was found to in range of 10 -20 nm. The effects of reactor parameters such as ambient gas and operating pressure on the magnetic and structural properties have been evaluated. The highest saturation magnetization around 59 emu/g which is even slightly higher than the bulk nickel ferrite and highest coercivity of around 101Oe have been observed. The possible reasons for the highest values of saturation magnetization and coercivity are discussed.
