The outcome of this study is to improve and enhance the power quality of the hybrid DC/AC microgrid(MG).The photovoltaic(PV)system and the proton exchange membrane fuel cell(PEMFC)are used as renewable energy sources to deliver the optimum active power to the utility *** MG system based on the PV system,PEMFC and voltage source inverter is modelled ***,the maximum power point tracking(MPPT)-based grey wolf optimization(GWO)is used to increase the PV module efficiency and enhance ***,to improve the PEMFC performance,a digital proportional-integral controller is used to control the PEMFC *** proposed inverter is controlled using synchronous reference frame theory,called the direct-quadrature(dq)control ***,the performance of the proposed MG system is tested using MATLAB®for various weather and loading condi*** the simulation results,the proposed MG system can deliver and absorb an active power based on the PV and fuel cell *** a result,the hybrid DC/AC MG is enhanced in terms of stabilization of the DC-bus ***,the power quality of the MG is improved using GWO optimization based on ***,good results are achieved using GWO in terms of the total harmonic distortion of the output current of 2.3%and higher efficiency of 98.9%.

On-line CO,CO_2 emissions evaluation and(benzene, toluene, xylene) determination from experimental burn of tropical biomass

Atmospheric pollution and global warming issues are increasingly becoming major environmental concerns. Fire is one of the significant sources of pollutant gases released into the atmosphere; and tropical biomass fires, which are of particular interest in this study,contribute greatly to the global budget of CO and CO2. This pioneer research simulates the natural biomass burning strategy in Malaysia using an experimental burning facility. The investigation was conducted on the emissions（CO2, CO, and Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene,Xylenes（BTEX）） from ten tropical biomass species. The selected species represent the major tropical forests that are frequently subjected to dry forest fire incidents. An experimental burning facility equipped with an on-line gas analyzer was employed to determine the burning emissions. The major emission factors were found to vary among the species, and the specific results were as follows. The moisture content of a particular biomass greatly influenced its emission pattern. The smoke analysis results revealed the existence of BTEX,which were sampled from a combustion chamber by enrichment traps aided with a universal gas sampler. The BTEX were determined by organic solvent extraction followed by GC/MS quantification, the results of which suggested that the biomass burning emission factor contributed significant amounts of benzene, toluene, and m,p-xylene. The modified combustion efficiency（MCE） changed in response to changes in the sample moisture ***, this study concluded that the emission of some pollutants mainly depends on the burning phase and sample moisture content of the biomass.

In the recent decade,many approaches of rough line drawing simplification were proposed,but they are not well summarized yet,especially from the perspective of Chinese cultural *** this paper,a comprehensive review of existing line drawing simplification methods was presented,including their algorithms,advantages/disadvantages,inputs/outputs,datasets and source codes,*** raster line drawings,related simplification work was discussed according to four main categories:fitting-based methods,tracing-based methods,field-based methods,and learning-based *** vector line drawings,a deep investigation was introduced for two major steps of simplification:stroke grouping and stroke ***,conclusions were given,key challenges and future directions of line drawing simplification for Chinese traditional art were thoroughly discussed.

Discrete element simulation of effects of multicontact loading on single particle crushing

Particle crushing commonly occurs in granular materials and affects their structures and mechanical *** idealized particles in experimental single particle crushing tests with two loading points,natural particles are crushed under multicontact *** date,the criteria and patterns of par-ticle crushing under multicontact conditions are not fully *** using the three-dimensional discrete element method,this report explores the effect of multicontact loading on the crushing criterion of a single particle,the crushing pattern,and the relationship between the particle crushing strength and loading *** particles are modelled as aggregates of glued Voronoi *** numer-ical results indicate that the logarithm of the mean principal stress has a good linear correlation with the coordination *** a specific coordination number,the number of child particles presents a significant normal *** a specific number of child particles,the volumes of child particles can be statistically described as normal or gamma *** typical models are proposed to qual-itatively analyse the relationship between the loading distribution and crushing *** relevant conclusions can be helpful in engineering practice and in further studies on crushable granular materials via the discrete element method.

Solving field equations exactly in f(R,T)−gravity is a challenging *** do so,many authors have adopted different methods such as assuming both the metric functions and an equation of state(EoS)and a metric ***,such methods may not always lead to well-behaved solutions,and the solutions may even be rejected after complete ***,very recent studies on embedding class-one methods suggest that the chances of arriving at a well-behaved solution are very high,which is *** the class-one approach,one of the metric potentials is estimated and the other can be obtained using the Karmarkar *** this study,a new class-one solution is proposed that is well-behaved from all physical points of *** nature of the solution is analyzed by tuning the f(R,T)−coupling parameterχ,and it is found that the solution leads to a stiffer EoS forχ=−1 than that forχ=*** is because for small values ofχ,the velocity of sound is higher,leading to higher values of Mmax in the M−R curve and the EoS parameterω.The solution satisfies the causality condition and energy conditions and remains stable and static under radial perturbations(static stability criterion)and in equilibrium(modified TOV equation).The resulting M−R diagram is well-fitted with observed values from a few compact stars such as PSR j1614-2230,Vela X-1,Cen X-3,and SAX ***,for different values ofχ,the corresponding radii and their respective moments of inertia have been predicted from the M−I curve.

Sea ice cover plays an important role in modulating local temperature through heat and moisture *** infuence of thin ice lead and polynya has been wellinvestigated,however,the effect of perennial ice(also called muliyear ice,MYI)has *** study is motivated by it and investigated a hypothesis that changes in MYI concentration in winter triggers changes in short-term local 2-m air *** hypothesis was tested using time series analysis of the two parameters and correlation between *** from the winters of 2004-2009 were used for the examination at three spatial *** hypothesis is found to be potentially accepted when MYI exists in a consolidated ice regime with negligible thin ice or open water in the surroundings,and the air temperature is low *** for the acceptance of the hypothesis were quantitatively *** qualifications entail that the ice cell must experience daily change of MYI concentration meanwhile satisfy the criteria of total ice concentration(TIC),young ice concentration(YIC)and air temperature(Tar)in the surrounding area,which are TIC>88.3%,YIC<9.5%and T_(air)<-19.0℃.Inverse relationships between changes in MYI concentration and the corresponding changes in air temperature were developed retroactively using data that satisfied the acceptance *** relationships varied with years,depending on ice conditions such as ice type distributions and snow *** study offers a first attempt to assess the effect of MYI on the same-day local surface air temperature using satelite observations,and provides evidence of this effect under quantitatively quanlifying conditions.

Delayed gastric emptying following pancreaticoduodenectomy:Incidence,risk factors,and healthcare utilization

AIM To characterize incidence and risk factors for delayed gastric emptying(DGE) following pancreaticoduodenectomy and examine its implications on healthcare utilization. METHODS A prospectively-maintained database was reviewed. DGE was classified using International Study Group of Pancreatic Surgery criteria. Patients who developed DGE and those who did not were compared. RESULTS Two hundred and seventy-six patients underwent pancreaticoduodenectomy(PD)(> 80% pyloruspreserving, antecolic-reconstruction). DGE developed in 49 patients(17.8%): 5.1% grade B, 3.6% grade C. Demographic, clinical, and operative variables were similar between patients with DGE and those without. DGE patients were more likely to present multiplecomplications(32.6% vs 4.4%, ≥ 3 complications, P < 0.001), including postoperative pancreatic fistula(POPF)(42.9% vs 18.9%, P = 0.001) and intra-abdominal abscess(IAA)(16.3% vs 4.0%, P = 0.012). Patients with DGE had longer hospital stay(median, 12 d vs 7 d, P < 0.001) and were more likely to require transitional care upon discharge(24.5% vs 6.6%, P < 0.001). On multivariate analysis, predictors for DGE included POPF [OR = 3.39(1.35-8.52), P = 0.009] and IAA [OR = 1.51(1.03-2.22), P = 0.035].CONCLUSION Although DGE occurred in < 20% of patients after PD, it was associated with increased healthcare utilization. Patients with POPF and IAA were at risk for DGE. Anticipating DGE can help individualize care and allocate resources to high-risk patients.

The Ball and beam system(BBS)is an attractive laboratory experimental tool because of its inherent nonlinear and open-loop unstable *** an effective ball and beam system controller is a real challenge for researchers and *** this paper,the control design technique is investigated by using Intelligent Dynamic Inversion(IDI)method for this nonlinear and unstable *** proposed control law is an enhanced version of conventional Dynamic Inversion control incorporating an intelligent control element in *** Moore-PenroseGeneralized Inverse(MPGI)is used to invert the prescribed constraint dynamics to realize the baseline control law.A sliding mode-based intelligent control element is further augmented with the baseline control to enhance the robustness against uncertainties,nonlinearities,and external *** semi-global asymptotic stability of IDI control is guaranteed in the sense of *** simulations and laboratory experiments are carried out on this ball and beam physical system to analyze the effectiveness of the *** addition to that,comparative analysis of RGDI control with classical Linear Quadratic Regulator and Fractional Order Controller are also presented on the experimental test bench.
