BACKGROUND incidence and severity variations of inflammatory bowel disease(iBD)have been reported from Western populations between continents and regions of the same ***,no data were available from other *** To investigate the regional differences in the iBD profiles of pediatric patients from the Kingdom of Saudi *** Data from a national multicenter iBD study were *** incidence,time trend,and clinical presentation of Crohn’s disease(CD)and ulcerative colitis(UC)in the Central region(CR),Western region(WR),and Eastern region(ER)were analyzed and *** analysis included Poisson regression analysis for incidence variation and Chi-square test for demographic and clinical parameters.A Pidered *** The prevalence of positive family history was lower in children with CD from the ER than the CR or the *** rate was higher in children with CD and UC from the CR and the ER,*** incidences and time trends of CD and UC were not significantly different between *** the ER,a significantly higher percentage of children with CD presented with abdominal pain(Pin stools(P=0.048),stricturing or penetrating disease(P=0.029),higher erythrocyte sedimentation rate(Pigher C-reactive protein(Pigher anemia(P=0.017),and lower albumin level(P=0.014).For children with UC from the ER,a significantly higher percentage presented with anemia(P=0.006)and a lower percentage with pancolitis(PiON The most important finding is the identification of significantly more severe presentation of CD in the ER of the Kingdom of Saudi *** studies are needed to explain such variations.

investigation on the mechanical properties of sintered porous copper compacts

in line with recent attention on porous metals having low and medium porosities in the range of 20-50%, this paper studies the effect of porosity on the mechanical properties of sintered copper compacts. Experiments were designed to investigate the effect of porosity, applied stress and sliding velocity on the wear rate of copper compacts, leading to the finding that the effects of both porosity and applied stress of the wear test on the wear rate are approximately similar and higher than that of sliding velocity. The investigation concerning the effect of porosity on compressive strength indicated that the stress-strain curve of high-porosity compact exhibited identifiable ultimate strength points, though low-porosity compact showed distinct stages of elastic plastic behavior.

Fabrication and characterization of gold nano particles for DNA biosensor applications

This research involves the preparation ofa biosensor using silicon oxide for biomedical applications, and its effective use for the detection of target DNA hybridization. An electrochemical DNA biosensor was successfully fabricated by using （3-aminopropyl） tri-ethoxysilane （APTES） as a linker molecule combined with gold nanoparticles （GNPs） on a thermally oxidized 5i02 thin film. The size of the GNPs was calculated by utilizing UV-vis data with an average calculated particle size within the range of 30 - 5 nm, and characterization by transmission electron microscopy （TEM） and atomic force microscopy （AFM）. The GNP-modified SiO2 thin films were electrically characterized through the measurement of capacitance, permittivity and conductivity using a low-cost dielectric analyzer. The capacitance, permittivity and conductivity profiles of the fabricated sensor clearly differentiated DNA immobilization and hybridization.

The aim of this paper is to obtain relevant sets of collision cross sections of the parent ions in low pressure discharges in argon, oxygen, and nitrogen, i.e., Ar＋ in Ar, O2＋ in O2 and N2＋ in N2. These ion data are first discussed and then validated from comparisons between the calculated transport coefficients and those measured in the literature. The elastic momentum transfer collision cross sections are determined from a semi-classical approximation for the phase shift calculation based on a 12-6-4 inter-particle potential while ion transport coefficients are determined versus the reduced electric field from Monte Carlo simulations.

Mathematics of a single-locus model for assessing the impacts of pyrethroid resistance and temperature on population abundance of malaria mosquitoes
