Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a pathological condition seen as histological change ranging from simple steatosis to steatohepatitis, advanced fibrosis and liver disease among patients without significant alcohol consumption. Microalbuminuria which is defined as the urinary albumin excretion of 30 - 300 mg/24h has been reported to be a risk factor for renal and cardiovascular disorders. It also has independent correlation to high mortality in diabetic and hypertensive patients. NAFLD is affecting non obese non diabetic individuals;Microalbuminuria is correlated to visceral adipose tissue even in non diabetic non obese patients with limited studies in this aspect. Microalbuminuria is considered as a risk factor for cardiovascular and chronic kidney disease. Aim of the work: To assess urinary albumin creatinine ratio in non-obese non-diabetic patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. Patients and methods: Total number of 80 patients with NAFLD that were non diabetic non obese patients. Abdominal ultrasonography and laboratory investigations were done. Results: Eighty non-obese, non-diabetic subjects (32 women, 48 men) with the mean age of 50.9 were included in this study. The population of the study was classified into four groups according to ultrasonographic degrees of steatosis. Control Group (A), (No. 25) 31.25% of total cases are reported as no fat accumulation in liver. Group B;No. 21 26.25% of total cases are reported as had mild steatosis (NAFLD 1). Group C;No. 18 (22.5%) of total cases and reported as had moderate fat accumulation (moderate steatosis). Group D;No. 16 (20%) of total cases reported had severe fat accumulation (severe steatosis). Urinary albumin creatinine ratio also shows increase in its values with increasing in the degree of steatosis among different groups which is highly statistically significant. The electronic structure of III-V zinc blend Gallium Phosphide nanocrystals is investigated using ab-initio density functional theory coupled with large unit cell for the core and surface parts. Two kinds of cells are investigated: multiple Bravais and multiple primitive cells. The results show that both energy gap and valence band width depend on the shape of the nanocrystal. Results also revealed that most electronic properties converge to some limit as the size of the large unit cell increases. Furthermore, the results have shown that the cohesive energy is decreasing with increasing size of nanocrystals. The core part is more degenerate, with larger energy gap and smaller valance and conduction bands than the surface.

The thin films of Nickel Phthalocyanine (NiPc) on glass substrates were prepared by vacuum evaporation at different substrates temperatures (300, 325, 350, 400, 450) K. The structure and surface morphology of NiPc in powder and thin film forms (265 nm) were studied using X-ray diffraction and atomic force microscope (AFM), and showed that there was a change and enhance in the crystallinity and surface morphology due to change in the substrates temperatures. Analysis of X-rays diffraction patterns of NiPc in powder form showed that it had an α-polycrystalline phase with monoclinic system with lattice constants a = 1.513 nm, b = 0.462 nm, c = 2.03 nm and β = 123.46°. Thermal evaporation of NiPc at different substrates temperatures led to β-crystalline films oriented preferentially to the (100) plane with different substrate temperatures. The mean crystallite size increased with substrates temperatures from 300 K to 450 K. This result was supported by AFM measurements, which exhibited a relatively larger grain size.

Diagnoses of heart diseases can be done effectively on long term recordings of ECG signals that preserve the signals’ morphologies. In these cases, the volume of the ECG data produced by the monitoring systems grows significantly. To make the mobile healthcare possible, the need for efficient ECG signal compression algorithms to store and/or transmit the signal efficiently has been rising exponentially. Currently, ECG signal is acquired at Nyquist rate or higher, thus introducing redundancies between adjacent heartbeats due to its quasi-periodic structure. Existing compression methods remove these redundancies by achieving compression and facilitate transmission of the patient’s imperative information. Based on the fact that these signals can be approximated by a linear combination of a few coefficients taken from different basis, an alternative new compression scheme based on Compressive Sensing (CS) has been proposed. CS provides a new approach concerned with signal compression and recovery by exploiting the fact that ECG signal can be reconstructed by acquiring a relatively small number of samples in the “sparse” domains through well-developed optimization procedures. In this paper, a single-lead ECG compression method has been proposed based on improving the signal sparisty through the extraction of the signal significant features. The proposed method starts with a preprocessing stage that detects the peaks and periods of the Q, R and S waves of each beat. Then, the QRS-complex for each signal beat is estimated. The estimated QRS-complexes are subtracted from the original ECG signal and the resulting error signal is compressed using the CS technique. Throughout this process, DWT sparsifying dictionaries have been adopted. The performance of the proposed algorithm, in terms of the reconstructed signal quality and compression ratio, is evaluated by adopting DWT spatial domain basis applied to ECG records extracted from the MIT-BIH Arrhythmia Database. Ni-Phthalocyanine thin films were thermally evaporated with different substrate temperatures (300 - 450) K on (silicon wafer, glass) substrates. The chemical bonds of NiPc powder were investigated by FTIR spectrum, which introduce good information for NiPc bonds and their locations. The optical properties have been studied by UV-Visible, and Photoluminescence (PL) Spectra. The NiPc thin films have direct gap for all samples. The values of energy gap which is calculated by PL spectra are lower than those calculated by Tauc equation. It is found there are three activation energies, the mobility and concentration of carriers have been measured and, the NiPc films are p-type. P-NiPc/n-Si HJ solar cell was fabricated at substrates temperatures (300, 400) K. From I-V and C-V characteristic, abrupt junction has been found, photovoltaic characteristics have been observed with Voc of (0.335 - 0.415) V, and Isc of (2.77 - 4.26) μA, and the efficiency of (3.08 - 5.03)% at room temperature and substrate temperature (300, 400 K) and under illumination of 55 mW/cm2 using Halogen lamp. Ideality factors of the junction increase from (0.61 - 0.73) and barrier height increases from 2.53 eV to 3.69 eV while shunt resistance decreases from 3.76 KΩ to 2.59 KΩ and series resistance decreases slightly from 0.24 KΩ to 0.23 KΩ. The fill factor decreases from 0.46 to 0.4 with the increase of substrate temperature.

Compressive Sensing Algorithms for Signal Processing Applications: A Survey

In digital signal processing (DSP), Nyquistrate sampling completely describes a signal by exploiting its bandlimitedness. Compressed Sensing (CS), also known as compressive sampling, is a DSP technique efficiently acquiring and reconstructing a signal completely from reduced number of measurements, by exploiting its compressibility. The measurements are not point samples but more general linear functions of the signal. CS can capture and represent sparse signals at a rate significantly lower than ordinarily used in the Shannon’s sampling theorem. It is interesting to notice that most signals in reality are sparse;especially when they are represented in some domain (such as the wavelet domain) where many coefficients are close to or equal to zero. A signal is called K-sparse, if it can be exactly represented by a basis, , and a set of coefficients , where only K coefficients are nonzero. A signal is called approximately K-sparse, if it can be represented up to a certain accuracy using K non-zero coefficients. As an example, a K-sparse signal is the class of signals that are the sum of K sinusoids chosen from the N harmonics of the observed time interval. Taking the DFT of any such signal would render only K non-zero values . An example of approximately sparse signals is when the coefficients , sorted by magnitude, decrease following a power law. In this case the sparse approximation constructed by choosing the K largest coefficients is guaranteed to have an approximation error that decreases with the same power law as the coefficients. The main limitation of CS-based systems is that they are employing iterative algorithms to recover the signal. The sealgorithms are slow and the hardware solution has become crucial for higher performance and speed. This technique enables fewer data samples than traditionally required when capturing a signal with relatively high bandwidth, but a low information rate. Background: Intra-biliary rupture of hydatid cyst [IBRH] is not a rare complication of hydatid disease of the liver and surgery until recently is the only definitive treatment. With the introduction of ERCP preoperatively or postoperatively there was a great reduction in the operative complications. There were reports in which the ERCP was the sole treatment of this condition. Objective: To evaluate role of ERCP in the management of cases of IBRH. Design: A retrospective study of 7 cases of IBRH and prospective study of 5 cases of IBRH managed by ERCP. Setting: The ERCP Unit of kurditan Center for Gastroenterology & Hepatology, Asulaimaneyah-Iraqi, kurdistan, Iraq. Main Outcome Measurements: Improvement in the symptoms, obstructive liver functions pattern and ultrasonic findings in these patients following ERCP management. Methods: This is a study of 12 cases of IBRH managed by ERCP in the kurdistan Center of Gastroenterology (KCGE) in Asulaimaneyah-Iraq, from 2007-2010. Seven cases of these were studied retrospectively from the available information on the center computers and on follow-up of these patients, while the other five patients were studied prospectively during the study period. We collected the available information: laboratory investigations, trans-abdominal ultrasonography (TAUS), computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance images (when available), before and after ERCP. We depended on the liver functions, trans-abdominal ultrasound and the clinical presentation before and after the ERCP;some patients were contacted via mobile phone for follow-up. Results: Cases were more males than females (58% vs 42%);most were from the ages between 30 - 50 years. The clinical presentation was fever, jaundice, itching and right hypochondrial pain in most patients. The liver function tests were obstructive pattern with elevated direct bilirubin and alkhaline phosphates in most patients. The objective of this study is to assess commonly used formulae (Sheppard, Campbell, Hadlock I, II, III, and IV) for estimation of fetal weight in Sudanese population. A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted at Saudi Hospital-Khartoum-Sudan;from December 2015 to April 2016. The study included 225 singleton pregnancies. The fetal biometry—Biparietal diameter (BPD), head circumference (HC), abdominal circumference (AC), femur length (FL) and actual birth weights (ABW) were taken. Statistical analysis showed significant results at p ≤ 0.005. Results showed that the significant highest positive correlation between the ABW and the EFW/Kg was seen in the Hadlock I, III and IV equations having an equal values (0.951) followed by Hadlock II (0.946), Sheppard (0.872) and lastly Campbell (-0.925) with significant high degree of negative correlation. The new established equation EFWFLHCAC is the best formula identified in our study to predict Sudanese babies weight ranged between 1.86 Kg to 3.987 Kg.

为拓展功能皮革的制造方法,以羧基化纤维素纳米纤维(CCNF)、硅烷偶联剂(KH560)和聚乙烯亚胺(PEI)为原料制备了纳米纤维素基复合气凝胶(CSP-AG)。通过调控CCNF、KH560和PEI间的配比制备了不同的CSP-AGs,考察了其结构与基本性质以及CSP-AG在生物基醛鞣革涂饰中的应用性能。结果表明,不同组分配比下,CSP-AG均具有良好的力学强度和低密度(最低为0.026 g/cm^(3))。KH560可与PEI和CCNF进行有效反应,形成多孔网络结构,且两者在网络结构中的分布均匀。此外,CSP-AG的热稳定性良好,其导热系数低(最低为0.042 49 W/(m·k))。涂饰应用结果表明,相较于未经涂饰的革样和经三防整理剂(SF)涂饰的革样,经SF-AG涂饰的革样具更优的隔热和疏水性能且革样难燃。
