Correlation between Fibroscan and laboratory tests in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease/non-alcoholic steatohepatitis patients for assessing liver fibrosis

BACKGROUND Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) is a spectrum of disease ranging from simple steatosis to non-alcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH), through to advanced fibrosis and cirrhosis. Many patients with NAFLD remain undiagnosed and recognizing those at risk is very crucial. Although liver biopsy is the gold standard method for diagnosing and staging NAFLD, non-invasive imaging and lab modalities are also very promising in diagnosing these *** To explore some of these non-invasive modalities in this context and assess how they hold up in terms of making a diagnosis while avoiding an invasive procedure like a liver *** This study was conducted on NAFLD/NASH patients(n = 73) who underwent Fibroscan examinations at Saint George Hospital University Medical Center over 17 mo in order to assess liver fibrosis. Obtained Fibroscan results were correlated to laboratory tests and calculated aspartate transaminase(AST)/alanine transaminase(ALT) ratio, AST platelet ratio index(APRI) score and Fibrosis-4 *** A significant age difference was observed across fibrosis stages of investigated patients. The mean stiffness score was 9.48 ± 11.77 KPa. A significant negative correlation was observed between ALT, AST, Albumin, gamma-glutamyl transferase, cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglycerides, and ALP when compared across fibrosis stages. On the other hand, a significant positive correlation was found between Bilirubin, PT INR, partial thromboplastin time, glucose, and Platelet count when compared across fibrosis stages, in addition to AST/ALT ratio, APRI, and Fib-4 *** This study showed that Ultrasound alone is not efficient in the assessment of advancement of liver disease. Furthermore, the high positive relation between AST/ALT ratio, APRI and Fib-4 scores with fibrosis stages in NAFLD patients suggests that they could be used clinically in combination with Fibroscan to predict significant fibrosis and cirrhosis and to avoid liver biopsy.

Isolation and Identification of Fungi That Cause Hair Loss (Alopecia)

Due to the crowded number of female students in a very narrow place, the fact that the college is for females only, and the fact that some of the female students live in the internal sections of the student residence, as well as the crowded number there, and as a result of the presence of the head covering or what is known as the Islamic veil on the head, which covers the hair of the head, which provides a suitable hot humid atmosphere 100% of fungal growth in the scalp of female students. Therefore, it is necessary to know the widespread fungal species that contaminate the scalp. In other research, we learn about the antifungals that should be used to reduce fungal infections in college employees. The study was carried out to identify the presence and spread of fungi that cause hair loss. The study was conducted on some students of the College of Education for Girls/University of Shatra for the period from 1/11/2021 to 1/12/2021, where 100 hundred hair samples were collected from (the scalp) from different ages in different educational stages, as random samples were taken after asking the student whether she suffers from hair loss or not, and studying the presence and spread of fungi in terms of density and type, after transferring them to the microbiology laboratory-College of Education for Girls using sterile sample collection bags. The current results showed that the fungal species E. flocculosum is the most common among them, followed by the fungal species C. carrionii, then the rest of the genera are as follows: E. flocculosum, Basisdioplus, Aspergillus terreud Hormderndrum Rhodotorula, Bipolaris, Aspergillus, Phoma, Rhizopus, Blastomyces, Microsporum, Sporothrix, Exophiala jeanselmei, Neoscytalidium Aeremonium Cladophialophora carrionii, Paecilomyces, Exophiala dermatitidis, Geotrichum, Volvariella, Rhizomucor, Saksmaea vassiformis, Candida albicans, Chrysosporium, Dimiatum.

Rock Stress Measurement Methods in Rock Mechanics—A Brief Overview

The current brief review paper on rock stress measurement methods is very crucial factors in mining, civil infrastructure, geothermal energy, nuclear underground disposal, large underground oil storage caverns, etc as well as in geology and geophysical area. Measurement of in situ rock stress is a very challenging and difficult quantity and not possible to measure directly. Measure the deformation or displacements or hydraulic factors by perturbing the rock and converting the measured quantity into rock stress. There are two main categories for measuring methods: direct and indirect methods. The most common methods of direct in situ stress techniques are briefly described including advantages, disadvantages and limitations. Moreover, authors included the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for rock stress measurement methods.

Numerical and experimental analyses of rock failure mechanisms due to microwave treatment

Despite the extensive studies conducted on the effectiveness of microwave treatment as a novel rock preconditioning method,there is yet to find reliable data on the rock failure mechanisms due to microwave *** addition,there is no significant discussion on the energy efficiency of the method as one of the important factors among the mining and geotechnical engineers in the *** study presents a novel experimental method to evaluate two main rock failure mechanisms due to microwave treatment without applying any mechanical forces,*** and concentrated *** result shows that the existence of a small and concentrated fraction of a strong microwave absorbing mineral will change the failure mechanism from the distributed heating to the concentrated heating,which can increase the weakening over microwave efficiency(WOME)by more than 10 *** observation is further investigated using the developed coupled numerical *** is shown that at the same input energy,the existence of microwave absorbing minerals can cause major heat concentration inside the rock and increase the maximum temperature by up to three times.

In this research, the researchers addressed the issue of digital transformation and its impact on the development of medical maintenance, and this topic is very important in the field of medical engineering. The researchers chose the military Hospital in Medina as his study location. The study aimed to identify and address the main challenges facing the digital transformation of medical maintenance at the Military Hospital in Medina. It seeks to analyze the current state of digitalization in medical maintenance operations, identify areas requiring improvement, and propose effective strategies to overcome obstacles. The study will evaluate the impact of digital transformation on efficiency, cost-effectiveness, patient care, and overall operational performance. At the end of the research, the researchers reached several results, including that introducing digital systems and technologies into medical maintenance can increase efficiency in various aspects, such as scheduling equipment maintenance, inventory management, and resource allocation. Researchers may find evidence of reduced downtime, streamlined workflow, and optimized use of resources. Internet Protocol version 6(IPv6)is the latest version of IP that goal to host 3.4×10^(38)unique IP addresses of devices in the ***6 has introduced new features like Neighbour Discovery Protocol(NDP)and Address Auto-configuration ***6 needed several protocols like the Address Auto-configuration Scheme and Internet Control Message Protocol(ICMPv6).IPv6 is vulnerable to numerous attacks like Denial of Service(DoS)and Distributed Denial of Service(DDoS)which is one of the most dangerous attacks executed through ICMPv6 messages that impose security and financial ***,an Intrusion Detection System(IDS)is a monitoring system of the security of a network that detects suspicious activities and deals with amassive amount of data comprised of repetitive and inappropriate features which affect the detection rate.A feature selection(FS)technique helps to reduce the computation time and complexity by selecting the optimum subset of *** paper proposes a method for detecting DDoS flooding attacks(FA)based on ICMPv6 messages using a Binary Flower PollinationAlgorithm(BFPA-FA).The proposed method(BFPA-FA)employs FS technology with a support vector machine(SVM)to identify the most relevant,influential ***,The ICMPv6-DDoS dataset was used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method through different attack *** results show that the proposed method BFPAFA achieved the best accuracy rate(97.96%)for the ICMPv6 DDoS detection with a reduced number of features(9)to half the total(19)*** proven proposed method BFPA-FAis effective in the ICMPv6 DDoS attacks via IDS.

Effect of smart sprinkler irrigation utilization on water use efficiency for wheat crops in arid regions

The smart irrigation system(SIS)developed in this research is a valuable tool for scheduling irrigation and quantifying water required by *** was implemented and tested under sprinkler irrigation system to irrigate wheat crops(YecoraRojo).Results obtained from this system were compared with the control irrigation system(CIS),whose scheduling method was based on data from an automatic weather *** indicated significant savings in applied water using the *** addition,the use of the SIS conserved 12%of irrigation water compared to CIS and obtained an economical *** water use efficiency(WUE)under SIS had generally higher values(1.64 kg/m^(3))compared to CIS(1.46 kg/m^(3)).Hence,the application of SIS technology provides significant advantages on WUE and irrigation water use efficiency(IWUE).Relatively high WUE and IWUE were found for the irrigation treatment(80%of evapotranspiration under SIS).Results showed that the irrigation requirements of wheat increased(100%of ETc under CIS)with increasing evapotranspiration(ETc)but excessive irrigation could decrease WUE and *** results indicated that extreme irrigation might not produce higher yield or optimal economic benefit,thus,suitable irrigation schedules by using SIS must be established and extendable to other agricultural crops.

随着中国社会经济的高速发展,对能源的需求越来越大,导致中国石油对外依存度超过70%,且连续多年居高不下,因此加快国内非常规油气资源的探勘开发对保证中国能源安全具有重要意义。致密油气是非常规油气的重要组成部分,其资源量为10×10k m,可采资源量为10×10m,主要分布在鄂尔多斯盆地、成都盆地和塔里木盆地,而成都盆地储层主要为川西须家河组。致密气层由于其储层致密,基质孔隙度和渗透率非常低,井天然产能低甚至无天然产能,因此一般需要采用水力压裂投产措施。针对致密气层,要提高水力压裂增产效果,需要提高水力压裂改造范围,实现改造范围内的体积化改造,即实现平面上和垂向上的多裂缝的缝网改造,这就是体积压裂。针对致密气层的体积压裂,增产机理是什么?如何优化施工参数?这些都要回答,因此本文开展了致密气藏体积压裂工艺技术研究。针对致密气藏的体积压裂工艺,本文开展了致密气藏体积压裂增产机理、体积压裂适应性评价、体积压裂关键参数优化和降阻水体系系统优化研究。论文首先阐述了体积压裂增产机理和水力压裂复杂裂缝延伸机理并分析了主应力差对复杂裂缝延伸的影响;其次从储层天然裂缝、地应力和储层岩石脆性三个方面分析了致密气藏体积压裂的适应性;然后建立了体积压裂条件下储层诱导应力场计算模型并开展了裂缝参数和施工参数优化研究;接着开展了致密气藏体积压裂降阻水体系优化,最后将研究成果应用于现场,检验研究成果的适用性。论文明确了致密气藏体积压裂的增产机理,论证了体积压裂对致密气藏的适应性,采用建立的数学模型优化了施工井的裂缝参数和施工参数以及现场施工用降阻水体系。现场试验表明,试验井增产效果显著。研究成果现场试验5井次,增产效果显著。B储层组压后单井平均无阻流量8.20×10～4m/d,是同河道邻井常规压裂改造方式平均无阻流量5.64×10～4m/d的1.5倍;A储层组压后单井平均无阻流量2.89×10～4m/d,是邻井常规压裂改造方式平均无阻流量1.00×10～4m/d的2.9倍。研究成果对川西致密气藏的高效开发具有重要的指导意义,对其他油田致密气藏的开发具有一定的借鉴意义。

Evaluation of common bean(Phaseolus vulgaris L.)genotypes for drought stress adaptation in Ethiopia

Drought stress linked with climate change is one of the major constraints faced by common bean farmers in Africa and elsewhere. Mitigating this constraint requires the selection of resilient varieties that withstand drought threats to common bean *** study assessed the drought response of 64 small red-seeded genotypes of common bean grown in a lattice design replicated twice under contrasting moisture regimes,terminal drought stress and non-stress, in Ethiopia during the dry season from November2014 to March 2015. Multiple plant traits associated with drought were assessed for their contribution to drought adaptation of the genotypes. Drought stress determined by a drought intensity index was moderate(0.3). All the assessed traits showed significantly different genotypic responses under drought stress and non-stress conditions. Eleven genotypes significantly(P ≤ 0.05) outperformed the drought check cultivar under both drought stress and non-stress conditions in seed yielding potential. Seed yield showed positive and significant correlations with chlorophyll meter reading, vertical root pulling resistance force, number of pods per plant, and seeds per pod under both soil moisture regimes, indicating their potential use in selection of genotypes yielding well under drought stress and non-stress conditions. Clustering analysis using Mahalanobis distance grouped the genotypes into four groups showing high and significant inter-cluster distance, suggesting that hybridization between drought-adapted parents from the groups will provide the maximum genetic recombination for drought tolerance in subsequent generations.

Antioxidant and antihyperlipidemic activity of Costus speciosus against atherogenic diet-induced hyperlipidemia in rabbits

Objective: An extract of Costus speciosus(CSE), a herb widely used in folk medicine, was evaluated for its antioxidant, antihyperlipidemic and ameliorating effects on histopathological changes in atherogenic ***: Twenty-four male rabbits(Oryctolagus cuniculus) were divided into 4 groups. Three groups were fed a diet containing 3% saturated fat and 1.3% cholesterol for 40 d. One of these was sacrificed on the 40 th day and was called the pathogenic(P) group; the other two groups received treatment for another 30 d as follows: one received 0.8 g/(kgád) of CSE and the other was given 0.01 g/(kgád) of simvastatin. The normal group was sacrificed on the 70 th day and used as a ***: CSE showed radical-scavenging ability. Administration of CSE for a 30-day period resulted in a significant decrease in total cholesterol, triacylglycerol, low-density lipoprotein and aspartate aminotransferase compared to the P group, while levels of hemoglobin, packed corpuscular volume and red blood cells were elevated. With respect to studies performed on the heart, a decrease in malondialdehyde and an increase in reduced glutathione were noted. Total protein increased in the liver, heart and aorta after treatment with CSE and also a marked improvement in histopathological parameters was ***: The present findings indicate that the C. speciosus rhizome possesses antiatherogenic and antioxidant properties which may provide protective effects against oxidative stress in atherosclerotic rabbits.
