Plant architecture is an important factor for crop production. Some members of microRNA156 (miR156) and their target genes SQUAMOSA Promoter-Binding Protein-Like (SPL) were identified to play essential roles in the establishment of plant architecture. However, the roles and regulation of miR156 is not well understood yet. Here, we identified a T-DNA insertion mutant Osmtd1 (Oryza sativa multi-tillering and dwarf mutant). Osmtd1 produced more tillers and displayed short stature phenotype. We determined that the dramatic morphological changes were caused by a single T-DNA insertion in Osmtd1. Further analysis revealed that the T-DNA insertion was located in the gene Os08g34258 encoding a putative inhibitor I family protein. Os08g34258 was knocked out and OsmiR156f was significantly upregulated in Osmtd1. Overexpression of Os08g34258 in Osmtd1 complemented the defects of the mutant architecture, while overexpression of OsmiR156f in wild-type rice phenocopied Osmtd1. We showed that the expression of OsSPL3, OsSPL12, and OsSPL14 were significantly downregulated in Osmtd1 or OsmiR156f overexpressed lines, indicating that OsSPL3, OsSPL12, and OsSPL14 were possibly direct target genes of OsmiR156f. Our results suggested that OsmiR156f controlled plant architecture by mediating plant stature and tiller outgrowth and may be regulated by an unknown protease inhibitor I family protein.

利用高效液相色谱与质谱联用法(LC-MS法)对从土培拟南芥叶片和水培拟南芥根系中分离的原生质体进行脱落酸含量分析.结果表明,所测原生质体的脱落酸含量与原生质体数目之间具有较好的线性关系,相关系数分别为0.992 3和0.993 1.脱落酸含量的检测下限为1.07 ng/mL,土培拟南芥叶片和水培拟南芥根系原生质体检测下限分别为3万个和2万个.该研究以原生质体为材料,避免了细胞间隙中的复杂化学成干扰,提高了植物激素测定的灵敏度和精度,完善了经典的植物激素测定技术.

【目的】比较水稻矮秆多分蘖突变体与野生型材料间的植物激素含量差异,并分析不同生长调节剂处理对其株高、分蘖的影响,探析植物激素在突变体形态发育过程中的生理功能。【方法】以T-DNA插入引起的矮秆多分蘖突变体(CA648)及对照中花11(ZH11)为供试材料,采用高效液相色谱法(HPLC)分析三叶期、五叶期、分蘖盛期、拔节孕穗期的根、假茎(或茎)、叶中的赤霉素(GA1,GA4)、生长素(IAA)、玉米素(Z)和脱落酸(ABA)的含量,进行CA648与ZH11在不同生长发育时期的不同器官中的植物激素含量差异比较分析;利用液相色谱-串联质谱联用法(HPLC-MS/MS)测定拔节孕穗期根、基部、茎秆及叶片中的IAA、Z及玉米素核苷(ZR)的含量并进行根、茎、叶等不同器官中IAA与Z+ZR含量间的比值差异分析;在CA648与ZH11的不同生长发育时期喷施不同浓度的GA3、IAA、Z及多效唑处理后统计株高、分蘖的变化特性,并比较分析CA648与ZH11对不同生长调节剂处理的反应敏感性差异。【结果】不同生长发育时期的CA648与ZH11的不同器官中的植物激素存在不同变化趋势。GA1+4含量变化情况为在三叶期和五叶期的叶片中两者相差不大,而根和假茎中的含量则是CA648高于ZH11;从五叶期至拔节期,随着生育期延长,ZH11的假茎和根中GA1+4含量升高而叶片中含量降低,但CA648却表现出相反的变化趋势,假茎和根中的GA1+4含量降低但叶片中含量却升高。IAA含量变化情况为五叶期、分蘖盛期时CA648叶片中的IAA含量低于ZH11,而假茎中的IAA含量却高于ZH11;拔节期时,CA648的根、茎、叶中IAA含量均与ZH11对应器官中的IAA含量相差不大。Z、ZR含量变化情况为三叶期CA648的根与假茎中的Z含量都低于ZH11;在拔节期,分蘖部位的基部和茎中的Z+ZR含量为CA648高于ZH11,而叶片中的Z+ZR含量却是CA648略低于ZH11。ABA含量变化情况为在三叶期、五叶期时CA648的ABA含量高于ZH11,而拔节期却显著低于ZH11。IAA与Z+ZR的比值情况为在顶叶、茎秆中是CA648大于ZH11,而在基部和根中则是CA648中的比值小于ZH11。不同浓度GA3、IAA、Z和多效唑喷施处理表明CA648的株高易受生长调节剂的影响。与喷水对照相比,喷施GA3、IAA、Z均能增加CA648的株高,其敏感性依次为GA3处理>IAA处理>Z处理;喷施多效唑后CA648与ZH11的株高均明显降低;虽然CA648与ZH11的株高均受GA3、多效唑等生长调节剂的影响,但CA648更敏感,当喷施的GA3浓度≥288μmol·L-1时,CA648的株高能够达到或超过ZH11的株高;与株高易受生长调节剂的影响不同,CA648的多分蘖特性几乎不受长调节剂处理的影响,无论是否喷施生长调节剂,CA648的分蘖数均远远多于ZH11。【结论】与对照相比,CA648体内的GA1、GA4、IAA、Z、ZR含量及其IAA与Z+ZR的比值有利于矮秆多分蘖性状的形成,即植物激素含量与比例能够反映CA648的生理特性;生长调节剂对CA648的分蘖与株高具有不同调控效果,喷施GA3、IAA、Z和多效唑能够显著改变株高,但其多分蘖特性不受株高改变的影响。

Pattern of Eye Diseases among Tea Workers

Background: Bangladesh’s tea industry is essential to the country’s economic expansion. Since tea workers in Bangladesh are marginalized within our community, they have limited access to comprehensive eye care services. Productivity and well-being are cornerstones of comprehensive health care strategy. Ocular disorders are influenced by life expectancy, sociodemographic status, and the epidemiological transition. In this context, the state of ocular health and the many eye illnesses remain to be significantly addressed. Purpose: To evaluate the pattern of eye diseases among tea workers in a tea estate of Bangladesh. Methods: This cross-sectional observational study was carried out in Halda Valley Tea Estate, Nazirhat, Fatickchari, Chattogram, Bangladesh, under the supervision of the Department of Community Ophthalmology, BSMMU, following ethical clearance and approval by the IRB board of BSMMU. With informed written consent and approval from the authority of the tea estate, a total of 110 tea workers were recruited. Socio-demographic characteristics, ocular findings, and patterns of eye diseases were determined and recorded. Results: The mean age of the study participants was 39.60 ± 11.63 years. The maximum (58.1%) study participants were 31 - 50 years old, female (64.5%), illiterate (82.7%), and tribal (71.8%) indigenes. Eye diseases were found in 94.5% of workers. Presbyopia (28.2%), cataracts (27.3%), and refractive error (26.4%) were the most common. Tea workers with eye diseases were significantly older than those who did not have any eye diseases (40.20 ± 11.57 vs. 29.17 ± 7.31 years, p Conclusion: A significant number of tea workers had eye diseases, of which presbyopia, cataracts, and refractive error were the most common.

Assessment of ecological risk for heavy metals in surface sediment of an urban river in a developing country

The speed of increasing threats to the riverine water resources makes it more critical to protect the health of Old Brahmaputra River *** current study was done to investigate the concentrations,distributions,sources,and ecological risk of heavy metals in surface sediment from the Old Brahmaputra River,*** were collected from seven sites and analyzed with an inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometer(ICP-MS).The results showed that mean concentrations(mg/kg) of heavy metals were in the order of nickel(Ni)(44.69)> chromium(Cr)(30.16)> lead(Pb)(19.31)>copper(Cu)(17.84)> cadmium(Cd)(3.94)> arsenic(As)(2.73).The contamination factor(CF),pollution load index(PLI),enrichment factor(EF),and geo-accumulation index(Igeo) indicated low to moderate *** unit analysis revealed that the studied metals from all stations posed low *** sediment of the study river was uncontaminated to moderately contaminated,posing a minimal ecological ***,Cr,Ni,and Pb originated from anthropogenic sources rather than geogenic sources,and caused the severity of *** this regard,pollutant-based intensive monitoring of heavy metals and holistic ecological risk assessments are required to maintain a sound and healthy aquatic environment in the river.

An IoT-based wireless sensor network(WSN)comprises many small sensors to collect the data and share it with the central *** sensors are battery-driven and resource-restrained devices that consume most of the energy in sensing or collecting the data and transmitting *** data sharing,security is an important concern in such networks as they are prone to many threats,of which the deadliest is the wormhole *** attacks are launched without acquiring the vital information of the network and they highly compromise the communication,security,and performance of the *** the IoT-based network environment,its mitigation becomes more challenging because of the low resource availability in the sensing *** have performed an extensive literature study of the existing techniques against the wormhole attack and categorised them according to their *** analysis of literature has motivated our *** this paper,we developed the ESWI technique for detecting the wormhole attack while improving the performance and *** algorithm has been designed to be simple and less complicated to avoid the overheads and the drainage of energy in its *** simulation results of our technique show competitive results for the detection rate and packet delivery *** also gives an increased throughput,a decreased end-to-end delay,and a much-reduced consumption of energy.

The most valuable resource on the planet is no longer oil,but *** transmission of this data securely over the internet is another challenge that comes with its ever-increasing *** order to transmit sensitive information securely,researchers are combining robust cryptography and steganographic *** objective of this research is to introduce a more secure method of video steganography by using Deoxyribonucleic acid(DNA)for embedding encrypted data and an intelligent frame selection algorithm to improve video *** the previous approach,DNA was used only for frame *** this DNA is compromised,then our frames with the hidden and unencrypted data will be *** the frame selected in this way were random frames,and no consideration was made to the contents of *** data in this way introduces visible artifacts in *** the proposed approach rather than using DNA for frame selection we have created a fakeDNA out of our data and then embedded it in a video file on intelligently selected frames called the complex *** chaotic maps and linear congruential generators,a unique pixel set is selected each time only from the identified complex frames,and encrypted data is embedded in these random *** results demonstrate that the proposed technique shows minimum degradation of the stenographic video hence reducing the very first chances of visual ***,the selection of complex frames for embedding and creation of a fake DNA as proposed in this research have higher peak signal-to-noise ratio(PSNR)and reduced mean squared error(MSE)values that indicate improved *** proposed methodology has been implemented in Matlab.

Medical Imaging Segmentation is an essential technique for modern medical *** is the foundation of many aspects of clinical diagnosis,oncology,and computer-integrated surgical *** significant successes have been achieved in the segmentation of medical images,DL(deep learning)*** delineation of OARs(organs at risk)is vastly dominant but it is prone to errors given the complex irregularities in shape,low texture diversity between tissues and adjacent blood area,patientwide location of organisms,and weak soft tissue contrast across adjacent organs in CT *** now several models have been implemented onmulti organs segmentation but not caters to the problemof imbalanced classes some organs have relatively small pixels as compared to *** segment OARs in thoracic CT images,we proposed the model based on the encoder-decoder approach using transfer learning with the efficientnetB7 DL *** have built a fully connected CNN(Convolutional Neural network)having 5 layers of encoding and 5 layers of decoding with efficientnetB7 specifically to tackle imbalance class pixels in an accurate way for the segmentation of *** methodology achieves 0.93405 IOU score,0.95138 F1 score and class-wise dice score for esophagus 0.92466,trachea 0.94257,heart 0.95038,aorta 0.9351 and background *** results showed that our proposed framework can be segmented organs accurately.

Hybrid Real-Time and Preset Processing for Indoor Radio Geo-Location in Dense Multipath Environments

The existence of various geo-location applications and their accuracy requirements enhance the necessities for suitable processing techniques to solve the indoor geo-location problems. Since, Impulse Radio Ultra-Wideband (IR-UWB) signals have very short duration pulses;they can provide very accurate ranging and geo-location capability in short range indoor radio propagation environments. Our research puts emphasis on indoor geo-location using UWB signaling considering both of non line-of-sight (NLOS) and LOS radio propagation environments. In this paper, we introduce and investigate a noble approach which makes a hybrid combination of Channel Impulse Response (CIR)-based finger-printing (FP) method with polygonal arrangement of reference nodes (or tags) and an iterative-TOA based real-time geo-location method using UWB signaling for wireless ad hoc networks. The proposed hybrid approach assures significant improvement in positioning accuracy compared to TOA only, FP only and conventional iterative-TOA geo-location methods by mitigating NLOS errors effectively in the indoor environment. Besides, this hybrid approach minimizes the calculation complexity of the FP method while maintaining improved geo-location accuracy in the dense multipath propagation environment.
