Efficacy and safety of non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants post-kidney transplantation

BACKGROUND Novel oral anticoagulants(NOACs)were developed as alternatives to vitamin K antagonists,primarily warfarin,as they do not require routine monitoring and have limited drug-drug and drug-food ***,the efficacy and safety of these agents in kidney transplantation are not well *** To assess the profile and safety of NOACs for patients who had kidney transplantation,and to provide recommendations and guidelines on therapeutic strategies in these *** This was a retrospective study carried out among adult patients who were actively on the following NOACs(apixaban,rivaroxaban or dabigatran)in our renal transplantation program from December 2015 to December *** patients were identified primarily through electronic medical record system(patient data linkage).Data on the clinical and laboratory profile of the patients were retrieved and analyzed with SPSS *** Complete data on 42 renal transplant patients were retrieved:59.5%males,90.5%were whites and 66.7%were older than 60 years *** mean duration since renal transplantation of the patients was 8.8±7.4 *** most common risk factors for the development of end-stage renal disease in the subjects were hypertension(19.0%),polycystic kidney disease(19.0%),followed by diabetic nephropathy(16.7%)and chronic glomerulonephritis(16.7%).The main indications for NOACs use in the cohort were atrial fibrillation in 25 patients(59.5%)and venous thromboembolism in 10 patients(23.8%).Overall,29 patients(69%)were treated with apixaban,10 patients(23.8%)with rivaroxaban and 3 patients(7.14%)with ***(0%)thromboembolic events were observed during the one-year period,but 3(7.1%)bleeding events occurred in the cohort consisting of 1 patient treated with rivaroxaban 15 mg daily and 2 patients who received apixaban 2.5 mg twice *** were no significant changes in serum tacrolimus level three days after the initiation of NOACs among patients treated with tacrolimus(

Flue gas heat loss accounts for a significant component of theoverall heat loss for coal-fired boilers in power plants. The flue gas absorbsmore heat as the exhaust gas temperature rises, which reduces boiler efficiencyand raises coal consumption. Additionally, if the exhaust gas temperatureis too high, a lot of water must be used to cool the flue gas for the wetflue gas desulfurization system to function well, which has an impact onthe power plant’s ability to operate profitably. It is consequently vital totake steps to lower exhaust gas temperatures in order to increase boilerefficiency and decrease the amount of coal and water used. Desulfurizationperformance may be enhanced and water use can be decreased by reasonableflue gas characteristics at the entry. This study analyzed the unit’s energyconsumption, investment, and coal savings while proposing four couplingstrategies for regulating flue gas temperature and waste heat recovery. Agraded flue gas conditioning and waste heat recovery plan was presentedunder the condition of ensuring high desulfurization efficiency, along withthe notion of minimizing energy loss owing to energy inflow temperaturedifference. Numerical results show that the proposed methods improved thesystem performance and reduced the water consumption and regulated theboiler temperature.

Quartz dissolution in a single phase-high pH Berea sandstone via alkaline injection

A common assertion is that alkaline solution aids oil mobilization by generating in situ soap,or by lowering interfacial tension(IFT)to ultra-low values in synergy with *** study takes a different approach that involves the alkaline dissolution of detrital quartz grains of sandstone reservoirs to create pathways for oil migration and *** dissolution via alkaline injection will result in changes in permeability and *** study performed high-pH core flooding on Berea sandstones using core displacement *** molybdate spectrophotometry was applied to measure the amount of dissolved *** and confining pressure variations were also *** molar concentration of NaOH varied at 0.5 m and 1.0 *** results show higher initial silica dissolution for 0.5 m NaOH(˃200mg/L)compared to 1.0 m NaOH(20 mg/L),which can be attributed to the presence of pre-existing dissolved silica and precipitates in the system prior to the first injection ***,a steady quartz dissolution rate of 0.4 mg/L/hr for 20 h was only achieved at 1.0 ***,an abrupt drop in quartz dissolution to below 0 mg/L was recorded for 0.5 m NaOH after 3 h of *** higher molar concentration of injected alkaline solution,both confining and inlet pressures increased from 8 and 5 bars to 12 and 11 bars as a result of the increased secondary phase of(hydr)oxides or precipitates in the ***,it can be inferred that the effect of alkaline solution on quartz dissolution is strongly dependent on molar concentration.

Synthesis, characterization and electrochemical evaluation of anticorrosion property of a tetrapolymer for carbon steel in strong acid media

A novel tetrapolymer(TP) consisting of carboxylate, sulphonate, phosphonate and sulfur dioxide based comonomers was synthesized using Butler cyclopoymerization technique. The synthesized tetrapolymer was characterized using FTIR,1H-NmR,13CNmR and elemental analysis. The performance of the tetrapolymer as a corrosion inhibitor for St37 carbon steel in 15% HCl and 15% H2SO4 acid media was assessed using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS), linear polarization resistance(LPR), potentiodynamic polarization(PDP) and electrochemical frequency modulation(EFm) techniques. The influence of addition of a small amount of KI on the corrosion inhibition efficiency of TP was also assessed. Results obtained showed that the tetrapolymer moderately inhibited the corrosion of St37 steel in the acid media with protection efficiency of 79.5% and 61.1% at the optimum concentration of 1000 mg·L^-1 studied in HCl and H2SO4 media respectively. On addition of 5 mmol·L^-1 KI to the optimum tetrapolymer concentration, the protection efficiency was upgraded to 90.6% and 93.5% in HCl and H2SO4 environment, respectively. The enhanced performance of the polymer in the presence of KI is due to synergistic action deduced from synergism parameter(S1) which was found to be greater than *** tetrapolymer afforded the corrosion inhibition of St37 steel in the acid media by virtue of adsorption of the polymer molecules on the steel surface which was confirmed by ATR-FTIR analysis of the adsorbed film extracted from the steel surface. TP + KI formed complex with St37 steel surface in H2SO4 solution but not in HCl solution.

Well crystalline gadolinium oxide（Gd2O3） nanostructures were grown by annealing the hydrothermally as-prepared nanostructures without using any template. microscopic studies of Gd2O3 nanostructures were recorded along the [111] direction due to the clearly resolved interplanar distance d（222）-0.31 nm of the cubic crystal structure Gd2O3. Sensing mechanism of Gd2O3 as efficient electron mediator for the detection of ethanol was explored. As-fabricated sensor demonstrated the high-sensitivity of -0.266 μAm/m/cm2 with low detection limit（-52.2 μmol/L） and correlation coefficient（r^2, 0.618）. To the best of our knowledge, this was the first report for the detection of ethanol using as-grown（at 1000 oC） Gd2O3 nanostructures by simple and reliable Ⅰ-Ⅴ technique and rapid assessment of the reaction kinetics（in the order of seconds）. The low cost of the starting reagents and the simplicity of the synthetic route made it a promising chemical sensor for the detection of various toxic analytes, which are not environmentally safe.

The antibacterial activity of Whey milk and its fractions were studied against one hundred bacteria strains isolated and screened from various patients at the University Hospital of Zagazig,Sharkia Province,Egypt.F2 fraction of Whey milk has shown the highest degree of antibacterial activity against the pathogenic bacteria A63 isolated from the *** whey(BW)was hydrolyzed with papain followed by fractionation using size exclusion chromatography(SEC).The fractionation profile of BWH showed three major peaks in Size exclusion chromatography,SECF1,SECF2,and SECF3 after 3h.F2 is the most active fraction and has faster migration than HP,F1,and F3 and may have higher positive charges on Urea-PAGE towards the cathode *** spectrum analysis of the F2 fraction of whey protein demonstrates the occurrence of distinctive functional groups,such as alkanes,alcohols,phenols,flavonoids,alkenes,anhydrides,and halo *** biochemical characters and the 1.5 Kb 16S RNA gene’s nucleotide sequence of the most potent stain showed 99%similarity with Staphylococcus *** results showed that the ability of nanoparticles of whey to inhibit pathogenic bacteria decreases compared to raw whey and its *** deformation and partial and total lysis of cell components were seen in Staphylococcus pasteuri treated with whey F2 fraction under Transmission Electron microscopy(TEm).

This paper presents a smart checkout system designed to mitigate the issues of noise and errors present in the existing barcode and RFID-based systems used at retail stores’checkout *** is achieved by integrating a novel AI algorithm,called Improved Laser Simulator Logic(ILSL)into the RFID *** enhanced RFID system was able to improve the accuracy of item identification,reduce noise interference,and streamline the overall checkout *** potential of the systemfor noise detection and elimination was initially investigated through a simulation study usingmATLAB and ILSL ***,it was deployed in a small-scale environment to validate its real-world *** show that RFID with the proposed new algorithm ILSL and AI basket is capable of accurately detecting the related itemswhile eliminating noise originating fromunrelated objects,achieving an accuracy rate of 88%.

Banking is an essential sector of Palestine’s *** credits provided by banks are considered to have a positive impact on economic growth so that the overall objective of this study is to examine the impact of bank lending on economic growth in *** study employs the Augmented Dickey-Fuller to test for stationarity in the time series,The Johansen co-integration,Vector Autoregressive model and Vector Error Correction model are employed to identify the long-run and short-run dynamics among the variables,and Granger causality test in order to determine the direction of *** study finds that a long run relationship exists among the variables and insignificant short run ***,the study findings show that there is unidirectional causality and runs from GDP to bank *** insignificant contribution of bank lending to GDP is attributed to the fact that banks are not highly interested in lending to the production sector of the economy due to the high level of ***,the primary empirical evidence reveals that bank lending doesn’t cause economic growth,but economic growth causes bank lending.
