Damming rivers causes two main problems affecting a river's geomorphic ecosystem and its water *** Tallowa Dam on the Shoalhaven River in southeastern NSW,Australia,provides a case study to find the best sustainable solutions to avoid these *** project uses a civil-infrastructure idea to design a grid of collector pipes from the reservoir bottom *** data analysis using ArcGIS 10.2 is used to determine the best grid location for the pipes in the *** and sediment samples have been analysed for grain size,heavy metal and organic matter *** dam has led to a significant decline in sediment transport and water discharge to the lower reaches of the river which has resulted in greater erosion of sediment and higher salinity rates within the lower river and coastal *** quality in the reservoir has been affected by increased sediment accumulation,particularly mud,which has increased the amount of heavy metal and nutrient pollution that could eventually affect the water users.A proposed solution is to use over-storage water to remove accumulated sediment from the base of the dam through a net of collector pipes controlled by automechanical gates,instead of flowing over the top of the *** would maximize the volume of upstream sediment and contained pollutants that can be released from the reservoir into the downstream river ecosystems as well as providing better water quality and a longer water storage time.

Bituminous materials play a crucial role in the construction industry, serving as essential binders in asphalt mixtures. Understanding their bonding behavior, mechanism, and characterization is imperative for enhancing pavement performance, durability, and sustainability. Despite the widespread use of bituminous materials, challenges persist in optimizing their physical, rheological, and mechanical properties, addressing aging effects,and developing eco-friendly alternatives. The modification can be made by incorporating modifiers or additives, such as anti-stripping agents, surfactants, and bonding promoters,at their optimal dosages. Technically, the cohesion and adhesion bonds could be reinforced by adding a designated percentage of additives to the asphalt binder and within the asphalt-aggregate interfaces in asphalt mixtures. Prior to improving the pavement materials for road construction, adhesion and wetting properties also need to be given crucial attention. The inter-surface characteristics and their morphological behavior significantly influence the adhesion and cohesion bonding within binder-aggregate matrices, as indicated by the good correlations in both dry and wet conditions between failure pattern and bond strength. This review highlights recent breakthroughs in bituminous material research, emphasizing innovative approaches to enhance performance, durability, and environmental compatibility, providing insights for future advancements in asphalt pavement engineering. To advance the development of robust, environmentally sensitive asphalt pavements and guarantee a sustainable and effective transportation infrastructure for years to come, cooperation between researchers, engineers, and industry stakeholders is important.

Cost overrun is a common problem in construction projects *** Indian construction projects,particularly those involving high-rise buildings,have had severe cost *** managers,architects,engineers,and contractors,completing building projects within the specified cost budget has become the most important and hard *** it is common for high-rise building projects to go over budget,the aim of this study is to find out the causes of cost overruns and provide effective *** study found 70 cost overrun factors based on a comprehensive literature review and expert opinions.A Google form questionnaire was distributed to 150 construction professionals across *** following up,101 of the 150 responses were received.A five-point Likert scale was used and the acquired data was analyzed and ranked using the Relative Importance Index(RII)*** to the findings of RII,the top ten critical factors influencing cost overruns were frequent change orders during construction by the owner,delay in construction,escalation of material prices,market inflation or deflation,rework,frequent changes in design,inaccurate evaluation of the project timeline,unforeseen ground condition,inaccurate quantity take-off,and delay in progressive payment by the ***’s rank correlation test revealed that there is a very significant relationship between the rankings of factors provided by the owner,the consultant,and the *** addition,a factor analysis tool in the SPSS software was also used to categorize the seventy factors into sixteen core *** top ten critical factors were presented to subject matter experts,and their suggestions were being *** results are expected to help construction professionals minimize cost overruns,improve cost control measures,and initiate future research.

Background: Patient care management behavior in diabetes is an essential component of maintaining diabetes under control, and roughly 95% of illness management is typically undertaken by the patients themselves and/or their families. This study aimed to identify the association between self-care management practices of patients with diabetes and their demographic factors within the last three months. Methods: The design of this study was cross-sectional. 150 participants from four different hospitals in the Makkah region, Saudi Arabia participated in the study. Descriptive statistics, independent t-tests, and one-way analysis of variance were used to measure differences in self-care management practices concerning patients ’ demographic factors. Results: The results of the study showed that there were no significant differences in the mean score of five areas of self-care management patients ’ practices regarding diet, exercise, foot care, testing blood sugar, and medication concerning their gender ( P > 0.05), employment status ( P > 0.05), their marital status ( P > 0.05), their income ( P > 0.05), and comorbidities ( P > 0.05). There was also no significant difference in the mean score of patients ’ HgbA1c and demographic factors. However, patients with diabetes who have a university education have significantly higher mean scores of testing blood sugar than patients with diabetes who have below secondary school ( P = 0.019). Conclusion: Although the study reported no significant differences in the mean score of self-care practices of patients with diabetes regarding their gender, income, age, education (except testing Blood Sugar), marital status, income, and employment status. This is still needed to counsel and educate every patient regarding reasonable glycaemic control as the study included participants with poor diabetic control (HbA1c > 7). Furthermore, it is recommended to replicate the study with a large sample size to explore the significant differences

Vibrio cholera, causing acute watery diarrhea known as cholera disease, affects all ages and both genders. Cholera infection outbreaks in Iraq have been reported for several years. The recent cholera outbreak, emerged throughout 2015, was investigated using bacteriological laboratory tests, singleplex and multiplex PCR technique for the detection of V. cholera from stool samples. Furthermore the toxigenic potential coupled with the antibiotic susceptibility test for cholera and other bacteria were also investigated. The stool samples were collected from 5698 patients admitted to Al-Yarmouk Teaching hospital and health care centers in Baghdad/Al-Karkh, Iraq, from the 1st of August to the 30th of December 2015. The V. cholera was isolated from 194 cases (3.4% of the cases age between 21 - 50 years). In addition, other enteric infections: Salmonellosis and Shigellosis 7 and 21 respectively, protozoan parasite Giardia lamblia and Entamoeba histolytica 2 and 43 cases respectively were also reported. High percentage of V. cholera infection was detected in October (122 cases, 62.8%), compared with other enteric infections that show high percentage of diarrheal disease in September and November. The results have confirmed that the cholera outbreak was caused by V. cholera O1, biotype El Tor, and serotype Inaba. Seven virulence genes were identified ctxA, toxR, zot, ace, rfbO1, tcpA and ompW. Moreover, the cholera isolated strains were found sensitive to most antibiotic but resistant to nalidixic acid.
