New insights into hydraulic fracturing fluids used for hightemperature wells

Reaching a postmortem diagnosis of hypothermia is challenging in forensic ***,this study was conducted to detect the histopathological,histochemical and biochemical changes that occur in adult albino rats following exposure to induced fatal ***-four adult albino rats were divided into the negative control,moderate hypothermia,severe hypothermia and hypoxia *** in the control group were euthanized when those in the moderate hypothermic group *** samples were collected via heart puncture,and the cerebrum,heart,suprarenal gland,kidney,liver and skeletal muscle were removed to investigate the biochemical,histochemical and histopathological *** assessment depicted significant changes in lipid peroxidation,represented by increased malondialdehyde levels in the studied organs of the rats in hypothermic and hypoxia *** examination of the rats’organs revealed degeneration and necrosis in the hypothermia and hypoxia *** taken from the severe hypothermic rats revealed a loss of normal cardiac tissue architecture,necrotic changes in the pyramidal cells in the cerebral cortex,and massive necrosis,mainly in the tubules of the renal cortex and *** findings suggest that histological changes might be used as biochemical markers for postmortem diagnosing of fatal hypothermia,particularly in severe hypothermic conditions.

High Gain of UWB Planar Antenna Utilising FSS Reflector for UWB Applications

In this paper,a high gain and directional coplanarwaveguide(CPW)-fed ultra-wideband(UWB)planar antenna with a new frequency selective surface(FSS)unit cells design is proposed for UWB *** proposed UWB antenna was designed based on the Mercedes artistic-shaped planar(MAP)*** antenna consisted of a circular ring embedded with three straight legs for antenna impedance bandwidth *** modelled FSS used the integration of a two parallel conductive metallic patch with a circular loop *** FSS provided a UWB stopband filter response covering a bandwidth of 10.5 GHz,for frequencies from 2.2 to 12.7 *** proposed FSS had a compact physical dimension of 5 mm×5 mm×1.6 mm,with a printed array of 19×19 FSS unit *** FSS unit cells were printed on only one side of the dielectric FR4 substrate and placed as a sandwich between the antenna and the reflector ground *** equivalent circuit configuration(ECC)was used to verify the FSS unit cell structure’s *** simulated results indicated that the UWB MAP antenna and FSS reflector provided a fractional bandwidth of 136%and a high gain of 11.5 dB at 8.5 GHz with an acceptable radiation efficiency of 89%.Furthermore,the gain was improved across the operating band and kept between 8.3 and 11.5 *** proposed antenna was in good agreement between theoretical and experimental results and offered a wide enough bandwidth for UWB and vehicle applications.

BACKGROUND Although the availability of related living donors(LDs)provides a better chance for receiving kidney transplantation(KT),the evaluation protocols for LD selection remain a safeguard for the LD’s *** protocols are variable from one center to another,resulting in variable rates of decline of the potential LDs(PLDs).The decline of willing PLDs may occur at any stage of evaluation,starting from the initial contact and counseling to the day of *** To identify the causes of the decline of PLDs,the predictors of PLD candidacy,and the effect on achieving *** A retrospective study was performed on the willing PLDs who attended our outpatient clinic for kidney donation to their related potential recipients between October 2015 and December *** variables influencing their candidacy rate and the fate of their potential recipients were *** groups of PLDs were compared:Candidate PLDs after a completed evaluation vs non-candidate PLDs with a complete or incomplete evaluation.A multivariate logistic regression was performed to assess the factors contributing to the achievement of PLD *** Of 321 willing PLDs,257 PLDs(80.1%)accessed the evaluation to variable extents for 212 potential recipients,with a mean age(range)of 40.5±10.4(18-65)years,including 169 females(65.8%).The remaining 64 PLDs(19.9%)did not access the *** 58 PLDs(18.1%)succeeded in donating,but 199 PDLs(62.0%)were declined;exclusion occurred in 144 PLDs(56.0%)for immunological causes(37.5%),medical causes(54.9%),combined causes(9.7%),and financial causes(2.1%).Regression and release occurred in 55 PLDs(17.1%).The potential recipients with candidate PLDs were not significantly different from those with non-candidate PLDs,except in age(P=0.041),rates of completed evaluation,and exclusion of PLDs(P<0.001).There were no factors that independently influenced the rate of PLD *** patients who failed to have KT after the decline of their P

BACKGROUND Preemptive living donor kidney transplantation(PLDKT)is recommended as the optimal treatment for end-stage renal *** To assess the rate of PLDKT among patients who accessed KT in our center and review the status of PLDKT in *** We performed a retrospective review of the patients who accessed KT in our center from November 2015 to November *** addition,the PLDKT status in Egypt was reviewed relative to the *** Of the 304 patients who accessed KT,32 patients(10.5%)had preemptive access to KT(PAKT).The means of age and estimated glomerular filtration rate were 31.7±13 years and 12.8±3.5 mL/min/1.73 m2,***-nine patients had KT,including 3 PLDKTs only(5.1%of total KTs and 9.4%of PAKT).Twenty-nine patients(90.6%)failed to receive PLDKT due to donor unavailability(25%),exclusion(28.6%),regression from donation(3.6%),and patient regression on starting dialysis(39.3%).In multivariate analysis,known primary kidney disease(P=0.002),patient age(P=0.031)and sex(P=0.001)were independent predictors of achievement of KT in our ***,PAKT was not significantly(P=0.065)associated with the achievement of *** of the literature revealed lower rates of PLDKT in Egypt than those in the *** Patient age,sex,and primary kidney disease are independent predictors of achieving living donor *** its non-significant effect,PAKT may enhance the low rates of *** main causes of non-achievement of PLDKT were patient regression on starting regular dialysis and donor unavailability or exclusion.

Potential Toxic Effects of Olanzapine on Metabolic Parameters in <i>de Novo</i>Paranoid Schizophrenic Patients. The Role of Adjunctive Aripeprazole: Clinical and Experimental Study

Background: Approximately 75% of all deaths in people with schizophrenia are caused by physical illness with cardiovascular disease [CVD] being the commonest cause of death. Factors predisposing people with schizophrenia to CVD include antipsychotic medication. Aim of Work: The aim of this study was to detect metabolic syndrome and its components in de novo paranoid schizophrenics on olanzapine therapy and the metabolic benefits of addition of aripeprazole, clinically and experimentally. Methodology: 1) Clinical study: 200 Outpatients suffered from de novo paranoid schizophrenia according to 10th International Classification of Psychiatric Disorders, Research Criteria [ICD10 RC] were included in the study. None of them had any component of metabolic syndrome. They were maintained on olanzapine [10 - 20 mg]. Patients were assessed clinically, psychometrically using Scale for the Assessment of Negative [SANS] and Positive [SAPS] Symptoms and metabolically at base line and after 6 months. Patients who had metabolic syndrome after 6 month of starting olanzapine therapy, were randomly divided into two groups according to added regime to maintained olanzapine: Group 1: olanzapine [10 mg/day] + placebo [empty hard gelatin capsule]. Group II: olanzapine [10 mg/day] + aripeprazole [10 mg/day]. 2) Experimental study: 40 male albino rats were randomly equally divided into 4 groups: Group 1 [control group]: received a standard diet, Group II [olanzapine treated]: received olanzapine at a dose of 0.5 mg/kg/day, Group III [aripiprazole treatd]: received aripiprazole at a dose of 2 mg/kg/day, Group IV [combined olanzapine and aripiprazole treated]: received olanzapine at a dose of 0.5 mg/kg/day combined with aripiprazole at a dose of 2 mg/kg/day orally.
