Introduction: The exhaustion of healthcare resources due to the rising prevalence in Saudi Arabia mandates the search for each method that can help in better control of diabetes. Methods: The gathered task force gath-ered to develop an explicit, evidence-based consensus for the use of time-in-range targets as guidance for better glycemic control while using continuous glucose monitoring (CGM). This article has the recommenda-tions of this expert panel. Results: HbA1c and self-monitoring blood glu-cose (SMBG) are not enough to detect blood glucose (BG) fluctuations on a daily basis. The incorporation of technology like FreeStyle Libre with its applications like Libre View is now used in many institutes in Saudi Ara-bia. This system is comprehensive and has all the standardized metrics needed. However, training and support are always needed. Barriers and challenges include the awareness & experience of the technology, the time barrier, the patients’ barriers, the technical barriers, and of course, the availability barrier. all the barriers and challenges should be dealt with by designing new training programs. Conclusion: The expert panel recom-mended using CGMs technology in people with type 1 diabetes (T1DM) children and adults, type 2 diabetes (T2DM) on multiple insulin injections, gestational diabetes (GDM) who need further glycemic control, and those at high risk for hypoglycemia. In addition, we recommend using them for a short period for those who require intensive BG control or during acute illness or stress. In addition, Ambulatory Glucose Profile (AGP) could be used as an educational tool for any individuals with DM to study the im-pact of certain elements of lifestyle modifications on their immediate BG level.

Video-Based Interventions for Adolescents and Young Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder:A Systematic

Many individuals with autism spectrum disorder(ASD)experience delays in the development of social and communications skills,which can limit their opportunities in higher education and employment resulting in an overall negative impact to their quality of life.This systematic review identiﬁes 15 studies that explored the effectiveness of Video-Based Interventions(VBIs)for those with ASD during the critical years of adolescence and young adulthood.The 15 studies described herein found this to be an effective intervention for this population for the improvement of their vocational,daily living,and academic skills.In addition,VBIs allow for the maintenance and generalization of the different target behaviors that were examined.The majority of the studies located by this review also investigated the social validity of the intervention method with participants and caregivers and found these VBIs to have high social validity.although a few studies that implemented VBIs to improve academic skills were located,the research on their use in this area was found to be lacking,indicating a gap in the research on VBIs.Increased usage of VBIs—including video modeling and video prompting—with the target population of those aged 15–28 with ASD is recommended with speciﬁc attention given to the use of VBIs to improve the academic and social skills of adolescents and young adults with ASD.

Maximum Power Extraction Control algorithm for Hybrid Renewable Energy System

In this research,a modified fractional order proportional integral derivate(FOPID)control method is proposed for the photovoltaic(PV)and thermoelectric generator(TEG)combined hybrid renewable energy system.The faster tracking and steady-state output are aimed at the suggested maximum power point tracking(MPPT)control technique.The derivative order number(μ)value in the improved FOPID(also known as PIλDμ)control structure will be dynamically updated utilizing the value of change in PV array voltage output.During the transient,the value ofμis changeable;it’s one at the start and after reaching the maximum power point(MPP),allowing for strong tracking characteristics.TEG will use the freely available waste thermal energy created surrounding the PVarray for additional power generation,increasing the system’s energy conversion efficiency.A high-gain DC-DC converter circuit is included in the system to maintain a high amplitude DC input voltage to the inverter circuit.The proposed approach’s performance was investigated using an extensive MATLAB software simulation and validated by comparing findings with the perturbation and observation(P&O)type MPPT control method.The study results demonstrate that the FOPID controller-based MPPT control outperforms the P&O method in harvesting the maximum power achievable from the PV-TEG hybrid source.There is also a better control action and a faster response.

Device-free human micro-activity recognition method using WiFi signals

Human activity tracking plays a vital role in human–computer interaction.Traditional human activity recognition(HAR)methods adopt special devices,such as cameras and sensors,to track both macro-and micro-activities.Recently,wireless signals have been exploited to track human motion and activities in indoor environments without additional equipment.This study proposes a device-free WiFi-based micro-activity recognition method that leverages the channel state information(CSI)of wireless signals.Different from existed CSI-based microactivity recognition methods,the proposed method extracts both amplitude and phase information from CSI,thereby providing more information and increasing detection accuracy.The proposed method harnesses an effective signal processing technique to reveal the unique patterns of each activity.We applied a machine learning algorithm to recognize the proposed micro-activities.The proposed method has been evaluated in both line of sight(LOS)and none line of sight(NLOS)scenarios,and the empirical results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method with several users.

Neuroprotective role of Noggin in spinal cord injury

Spinal cord injury is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality among young adults in many countries including the United States.Difficulty in the regeneration of neurons is one of the main obstacles that leave spinal cord injury patients with permanent paralysis in most instances.Recent research has found that preventing acute and subacute secondary cellular damages to the neurons and supporting glial cells can help slow the progression of spinal cord injury pathogenesis,in part by reactivating endogenous regenerative proteins including Noggin that are normally present during spinal cord development.Noggin is a complex protein and natural inhibitor of the multifunctional bone morphogenetic proteins,and its expression is high during spinal cord development and after induction of spinal cord injury.In this review article,we first discuss the change in expression of Noggin during pathogenesis in spinal cord injury.Second,we discuss the current research knowledge about the neuroprotective role of Noggin in preclinical models of spinal cord injury.Lastly,we explain the gap in the knowledge for the use of Noggin in the treatment of spinal cord injury.The results from extensive in vitro and in vivo research have revealed that the therapeutic efficacy of Noggin treatment remains debatable due to its neuroprotective effects observed only in early phases of spinal cord injury but little to no effect on altering pathogenesis and functional recovery observed in the chronic phase of spinal cord injury.Furthermore,clinical information regarding the role of Noggin in the alleviation of progression of pathogenesis,its therapeutic efficacy,bioavailability,and safety in human spinal cord injury is still lacking and therefore needs further investigation.

Biocomposites as bio-inspired materials are produced from renewable resources that are organic and ecofriendly alternative materials.To improve the lifestyle of human beings as well as enhancing the environmental indices,functional bio-materials are now implemented in various promising industries.This work has systematically discussed and highlighted the implementations and trends of functional bionic materials in high tech industries,which are necessary for developing modern societies.Various medical,electronic,food and pharmaceutical applications have been considered.Bio-inspired materials are used to develop more sustainable possibilities to increase environmental conservation while maintaining customer satisfaction.Biopolymers were found employed in several sectors for various functional bio-products including organic thin-film transistors,organic phototransistor,emitting diodes,photodiodes,photovoltaic solar cells,hybrid dental resins,sustainable pharmaceuticals,and food packaging.They are used to create sustainable bio-products for energy storage and harvesting,bone regeneration,nerve damage repair,drug applications and various other industrial subcategories.

Secure android IoT mobile and collaborative machine learning for controlling the management of enterprise

There is a need for increased security measures because of wide variety of android Internet of Thing(IoT)mobile devices that can communicate with each other via networks for controlling the management of enterprise.Elliptic Curve Deffie Hellman(ECDH)and Rivest Shamir Adleman(RSA)are used to secure data in android IoT phones in efficient manner.Android mobile can store a lot of data,including sensitive data.Protecting data saved on mobile has become a critical problem.In android IoT,Collaborative Machine Learning describes a method for collaboratively mining data,which makes it easier to manage and lowers cost of maintenance.To increase security in IoT phones,suggested system uses ECDH,RSA,and CML algorithms,which have been considered novelty of this method.RSA and ECDH are computed using time of decryption,encryption,and key generation.Conclusions show ECDH beats other alternatives like RSA.Finally,all users of the network have been tested.

Radiofrequency ablation for renal tumours: A retrospective study from a tertiary centre

Objective:This study aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy outcomes of percutaneous radiofrequency ablation(RFA)for localised renal cell carcinoma(RCC)in a tertiary hospital patient who remained unfit for surgical intervention.Methods:We retrospectively analysed survival outcomes for patients with biopsy proven RCC treated by RFA at Royal Perth Hospital between September 2009 and May 2018.Complication data were gathered for all patients that underwent renal RFA along with 2-and 5-year recurrence-free survival(RFS)rate and compared the outcomes with data from previous studies.Results:A total of 69 patients(73 procedures)were eligible for the study,and those patients had biopsy-proven RCC with a minimum of 2-year follow-up.The complication rate was 8.2%(6/73)and local recurrence rate 9.6%(7/73).Two-year RFS is 95.7% and 5-year RFS is 78.8% on a median 3.82-year follow-up(interquartile range 1.90-5.75 years).Conclusion:RFA performed at our centre was found to be safe and effective with low complication rates and durable RFS in line with expectations from existing research.Our study demonstrated that RFA is an alternative modality of treatment for small renal tumours in patients unfit for surgical approach.

A Systematic Literature Review of Deep Learning algorithms for Segmentation of the COVID-19 Infection

Coronavirus has infected more than 753 million people,ranging in severity from one person to another,where more than six million infected people died worldwide.Computer-aided diagnostic(CAD)with artificial intelligence(AI)showed outstanding performance in effectively diagnosing this virus in real-time.Computed tomography is a complementary diagnostic tool to clarify the damage of COVID-19 in the lungs even before symptoms appear in patients.This paper conducts a systematic literature review of deep learning methods for classifying the segmentation of COVID-19 infection in the lungs.We used the methodology of systematic reviews and meta-analyses(PRISMA)flow method.This research aims to systematically analyze the supervised deep learning methods,open resource datasets,data augmentation methods,and loss functions used for various segment shapes of COVID-19 infection from computerized tomography(CT)chest images.We have selected 56 primary studies relevant to the topic of the paper.We have compared different aspects of the algorithms used to segment infected areas in the CT images.Limitations to deep learning in the segmentation of infected areas still need to be developed to predict smaller regions of infection at the beginning of their appearance.

5-year follow-up of combined non-topography guided photorefractive keratectomy and corneal collagen cross linking for keratoconus

AIM： To evaluate the visual outcomes of simultaneous non-topography guided photorefractive keratectomy（PRK） and corneal collagen cross-linking（CXL） in eyes with keratoconus 5 y after the procedure.METHODS： Prospective, interventional, non-randomized, and non-controlled case series design was used. Sixty eyes of 30 patients（16 males and 14 females; age： 21-41 y） with mild, non-progressive（stages 1-2） keratoconus were enrolled. Refraction, uncorrected distance visual acuity（UDVA） and corrected distance visual acuity（CDVA）, flat and steep keratometry readings, and adverse events were evaluated preoperatively and postoperatively. Data were collected preoperatively and postoperatively at 3 mo, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 y follow-up visits after combined non-topography-guided PRK with CXL was performed. all patients had at least 5 y of follow-up.RESULTS： all study parameters showed a statistically significant improvement at 5 y over baseline values. The mean follow-up time was 68.20±4.71 mo（range： 60-106 mo）. Patients showed a significant improvement in UDVA from 1.24±0.79 log MAR prior to combined non-TG-PRK＋CXL to 0.06±0.15 log MAR postoperatively at the time of their last follow-up visit. CDVA significantly increased from 0.06±0.19 log MAR preoperatively to 0.03±0.12 log MAR postoperatively. A significant decrease in the mean spherical equivalent（SE） refraction was observed from-2.28±1.8 to-0.79±0.93 diopters（D）（P〈0.05）, and the manifest sphere decreased from-1.62±1.23 to-0.27±0.21 D（P=0.001）. The manifest cylinder significantly decreased from-1.73±0.86 to-0.29±0.34 D postoperatively（P=0.001）. The mean steep keratometry was 45.13±1.32 vs 47.28±2.12 D preoperatively（P〈0.05）, and the preoperative mean steepest keratometry（Kmax） 48.6±3.1 was reduced significantly to 46.8±2.9 postoperatively（P〈0.05）. CONCLUSION： Combined non-TG-PRK with 15 min CXL is an effective and safe option for correcting mild refractive error and improving visual acuity in patients with mild stable keratoconus.
