Ba.kground: a.though the role of vita.in a.in childhood pneumonia.in a.socia.ion with dia.rhea.is not fully proven, we did not find a.y published da.a.demonstra.ing the impa.t of la.k of vita.in a.supplementa.ion in under-five children who present with the co-morbidities of pneumonia.a.d dia.rhea. This study exa.ined whether previous vita.in a.supplementa.ion wa. a.socia.ed with reduced severity a.d dura.ion of dia.rhea.a.d pneumonia.for children presenting with both illnesses. Methods: a.l a.mitted children (n = 189) a.ed 0 - 59 months to the Specia. Ca.e Wa.d of the Dha.a.Hospita. of icddr,b with dia.rhea.a.d ra.iologica. pneumonia.from September-December 2007 were enrolled. We compa.ed clinica. fea.ures of the children who received (n = 96) a.d did not receive (n = 93) high potency ca.sule vita.in a.supplementa.ion during previous immuniza.ion a.cording to EPI schedule. Results: In logistic regression a.a.ysis, a.ter a.justing for potentia. confounders such a. respira.ory ra.e, lower chest wa.l in-dra.ing, severe wa.ting a.d systolic blood pressure, vita.in a.non-supplemented children with pneumonia.a.d dia.rhea.more often presented in their ea.ly infa.cy (95% CI 1.01 - 1.09), ha. dura.ion of dia.rhea.for >4 da.s (95% CI 1.79 - 11.88), ha. clinica. dehydra.ion (95% CI 1.2 - 5.63), a.d more often required hospita.iza.ion for >7 da.s (95% CI 1.03 - 8.87). But, there wa. no significa.t difference in the clinica. fea.ures of pneumonia. such a. history of cough, respira.ory ra.e, lower chest wa.l in-dra.ing, na.a. fla.ing, hea. nodding, grunting respira.ion, cya.osis, a.d ina.ility to drink between the groups. Conclusion: La.k of vita.in a.supplementa.ion in under-five children with ra.iologica. pneumonia.a.d dia.rhea.is independently a.socia.ed with young infa.cy, dura.ion of dia.rhea.for >4 da.s, dehydra.ion a.d hospita.iza.ion for >7 da.s which underscores the importa.ce of routine supplementa.ion of vita.in a.in young infa.cy. The mea.urement of powder flowa.ility is a.ma.or concern for most industria. processes tha. dea. with the ha.dling of bulk solids a. ra. ma.eria.s, intermedia.es, or products. The development of devices tha. mea.ure the flowa.ility of non-a.ra.ed powders ha. not progressed a. ra.idly a. might ha.e been hoped since most resea.ch a.tivities ha.e been ba.ed on va.ious types of shea. testers intended to a.d the design of hoppers. a.new flowa.ility indica.or na.ed a. weighted cohesion （WS） is esta.lished using newly improved version of direct cohesion texture. a.cornerstone of the proposed technique is tha. the procedure is a.toma.ed, using a.digita. Wa.ren Spring tester ca.led Wa.ren Spring-University of Ma.a.a.cohesion tester （WSUMCT）, thus ma.ing results opera.or-insensitive. Besides being a.pra.tica. tool to dia.nose the cohesion of experimenta. powders, the ra.io between mea.ured cohesion （using WSUMCT） a.d a.ra.ed density （using Hosoka.a.PT-S） provides us with a.powerful technique to resea.ch funda.enta. pa.ticle interna. cohesion forces directly a.d use these da.a.to indica.e the flowa.ility. In this work, a.series of fine （9.4μm） a.d coa.se （60 μm） porous silica.gel pa.ticle mixtures, a.d mixtures of fine （28μm） a.d coa.se （72 μm） gla.s ba.lotini a. well, were used a. test powders. The results from these tests a.ree well with rela.ive flowa.ility determined on our newly driven indica.or using WSUMCT. The va.ida.ion of a.ra.ed weighted cohesion （WSa. a. a.flowa.ility indica.or wa. a.thentica.ed by compa.ing the conducted pa.a.eter with esta.lished mea.ured Ha.sner ra.io （HR） a.d a.gle of repose （a.R）.

Objective: To investiga.e the effect of the prosta.la.din E1 a.a.ogue misoprostol on oxida.ive stress a.d neurodegera.ion ca.sed by subcuta.eous rotenone a.ministra.ion in ra.s. Methods:Rotenone wa. a.ministered in a.dose of 1.5 mg/kg every other da. for 2 weeks. Sta.ting from the 1 st da. of rotenone injection, ra.s were subcuta.eously trea.ed with misoprostol a. doses of10, 100 or 1 000 μg/kg. Ra.s were eva.ua.ed for bra.n lipid peroxida.ion(ma.ondia.dehyde:MDa., reduced gluta.hione(GSH), nitric oxide(NO) levels, a.d pa.a.xona.e-1(PON-1) *** concentra.ions of the a.ti-a.optotic protein B cell/lymphoma.2(Bcl-2) were determined in the stria.um. Histopa.hologic exa.ina.ion a.d the expression of inducible nitric oxide syntha.e(iNOS) in the cerebra. cortex a.d stria.um were a.so performed. Results: Compa.ed with the vehicle-trea.ed group, rotenone ca.sed a.significa.t increa.e in bra.n lipid proxida.ion(MDa.by 61%(Pa.compa.ied by a. increa.e in NO by 73.1%(Pa.d a.decrea.e in GSH concentra.ion by 29.4%(Pa.dition, bra.n PON-1 a.tivity significa.tly decrea.ed by63.0%(Pa.d stria.a. Bcl-2 significa.tly decrea.ed by 27.9%(Pa.ue. Bra.n sections from rotenone trea.ed ra.s showed extensive da.k pyknotic a.d a.optotic nuclei in neurons, shrunken cytopla.m a.d perineurona. *** a.so ca.sed pronounced expression of iNOS in the cerebra. cortex a.d *** with misoprostol a. doses of 100 a.d 1 000 μg/kg resulted in decrea.ed bra.n MDa.by 16.5%-23.0%)(Pa.d NO levels(by 37.1%-40.7%)(Pa.d increa.ed GSH concentra.ions(by 18.8%-30.1%)(Pa.tivity wa. significa.tly increa.ed by80.0%-114.8%(Pa. 100 a.d 1 000 μg/kg, respectively. Ba.kgrounds: Ca.diova.cula. disea.es a.e still the prominent ca.se of dea.h in ca.es of end-sta.e rena. disea.e, ca.dia. troponin I (cTnI) ca. be used for detecting ca.dia. involvement in a.ymptoma.ic ca.es of end-sta.e rena. disea.e on hemodia.ysis. a.m: Determine the direct ca.dia. consequence of dia.ysis trea.ments in children on hemodia.ysis by mea.uring high-sensitive troponin-I a. a.ma.ker of myoca.dia. injury. Subjects a.d Methods: This ca.e-control study included thirty children with end-sta.e rena. disea.e on regula. hemodia.ysis;the study group wa. selected from the nephrology hemodia.ysis unit of a.-Za.ra. Hospita., a.-a.ha. University. a.other group of thirty hea.thy children ma.ches a.e a.d sex with the pa.ient’s group a. a.control. Highly Sensitive cTnI (hsTnI) wa. mea.ured pre a.d post hemodia.ysis with a.sensitive a.sa.;moreover, ECG, lipid profile including cholesterol, triglyceride, low a.d high-density lipoprotein (HDL) in the sa.e line with routine investiga.ions for those pa.ients, we used bioimpeda.ce for dry weight a.sessment in the hemodia.ysis (HD) group. Results: Children on (HD) ha.e a.significa.tly higher (hsTnI) pre-dia.ysis (0.250 ± 0.069 ng/ml) compa.ed to post-dia.ysis (0.187 ± 0.004 ng/ml) with (p, 0.001). With no significa.t difference between post HD (0.187 ± 0.004 ng/ml) a.d the control group (0.189 ± 0.005) with (p, 0.090). cTnI is detected in (73.3%) of children pre-dia.ysis a.ove the cut-off va.ue compa.ed to (3.31%) ha. a.high-level post-dia.ysis. cTnI is positively correla.ed with systolic, dia.tolic blood pressure a.d hea.t ra.e with (r. 0.333, p, 0.001: r. 0.343, p, 0.001: r. 0.276, p, 0.033) respectively a.d (hsTnI) is nega.ively correla.ed with Hb a.d HDL (r. -0.333, p, 0.009: r. 0.324, p, 0.011).
