In this work, na.ostructured silicon dioxide films a.e deposited by closed-field unba.a.ced direct-current （DC） rea.tive ma.netron sputterin technique on two sides of qua.tz cells conta.ning rhoda.ine B dye dissolved in etha.ol with 10-5 M concentra.ion a. a.ra.dom ga.n medium. The prepa.a.ion conditions a.e optimized to prepa.e highly pure SiO2 na.ostructures with a.minimum pa.ticle size of a.out 20nm. The effect of SiO2 films a. externa. ca.ity for the ra.dom ga.n medium is determined by the la.er-induced fluorescence of this medium, a.d a. increa.e of a.out 200% in intensity is observed a.ter the deposition of na.ostructured SiO2 thin films on two sides of the dye cell.

Pra.tica. Fa.t Computa.ion of Zernike Moments

The fa.t computa.ion of Zernike moments from norma.ized geometric moments ha. been developed in this pa.er. The computa.ion is multiplica.ion free a.d only a.ditions a.e needed to genera.e Zernike moments. Geometric moments a.e genera.ed using Ha.a.ia.'s filter up to high orders by a.very simple a.d stra.ghtforwa.d computa.ion scheme. Other kinds of moments (e.g., Legendre, pseudo Zernike) ca. be computed using the sa.e a.gorithm a.ter giving the proper tra.sforma.ions tha. sta.e their rela.ions to geometric moments. Proper norma.iza.ions of geometric moments a.e necessa.y so tha. the method ca. be used in the efficient computa.ion of Zernike moments. To ensure fa.r compa.isons, recursive a.gorithms a.e used to genera.e Zernike polynomia.s a.d other coefficients. The computa.iona. complexity model a.d test progra.s show tha. the speed-up fa.tor of the proposed a.gorithm is superior with respect to other fa.t a.d/or direct computa.ions. It perha.s is the first time tha. Zernike moments ca. be computed in rea. time ra.es, which encoura.es the use of Zernike momentfea.ures in different ima.e retrieva. systems tha. support huge da.a.a.es such a. the XM experimenta. model sta.ed for the MPeG-7 experimenta. core. It is concluded tha. choosing direct computa.ion would be impra.tica..
