the Effectiveness of Driver Education and Information Programs in the State of Nevada

According to National Highway traffic Safety Administration, pedestrian and driver crashes are increasing at an alarming rate due to technological advancements and human errors. there is a need to improve existing driver education programs to mitigate the chances of crashes. the objectives of this research were 1) to examine the quality of Nevada’s driver education by evaluating the effectiveness of its programs, and 2) to provide recommendations to improve driving education in Nevada based on the results from this study. two different surveys were conducted in Clark County, Southern Nevada. the first survey focused on assessing the strengths and limitations of the current Driver Education Programs in Nevada by capturing the opinions and attitudes of those who went through the process as teenagers. the second survey focused on driver safety through the involvement of pedestrians on the road. these surveys and the corresponding statistical analysis as well as the exiting literature have provided insights to improve driving education. the corresponding recommendations were organized into seven major categories: 1) lack of rigor of online driver education, 2) interactive learning and technology, 3) follow-up exams, 4) practice/training at home, 5) collecting information about crashes, 6) pedestrians, and 7) additional emphasis. Finally, due to the dangers of driving distractions (texting and calling on the cell phone) and impairments (driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs), more emphasis on these topics—as well as more public announcements through billboards, television commercials, and magazines— can help to constantly remind drivers about having good driving habits.

Iot can aid alliance of communication, monitor and information processing across various transportation systems. the authors have developed a real time public bus management system based on Iot and android application. the authors have used GPS (Global Positioning System) to track the nearest location of the bus and police station;IR sensor is used for checking seat availability. the authors also use a Panic Alert Button on every seat of the bus to reduce women harassment. With the press of the panic alert button, the notification sends to the owner and the nearest police station with the current location of the bus.

Road and tunnel Extraction from SPOt Satellite Images Using Neural Networks

Road extraction from the satellite images can be used in producing road maps as well as managing and developing geospatial databases. In this work, the extraction of roads from SPOt satellite images using artificial neural network has been studied. then the location of tunnel is extracted from image using digital elevation information. Also it is tried to enhance the precision of the road extraction method using spectral information as well as texture and morphology. the method was implemented on SPOt satellite images of tabrizand Miyaneh (Iran). the results of this research indicate that it would be possible to promote the precision of road extraction by using texture and morphology in image classifycation using neural networks. Finally the location of tunnel was extracted by digital elevation information. Junctions of roads and mountains have high potential in locating the tunnel. For this reason, in this study, the junctions of roads and mountains were also detected and used.

Optical and Structural Properties of ZnO thin Films Fabricated by Sol-Gel Method

Highly oriented and transparent ZnO thin films have been fabricated on ultrasonically cleaned quartz substrates by the sol-gel technique. X-ray diffraction, UV-VIS, FtIR, photoluminescence and SEM are used to characterize ZnO thin films. X-ray diffraction study show that all the films prepared in this work have hexagonal wurtzite structure, with lattice constants a = b = 3.260 ?, c = 5.214 ?. the optical band gap energy of the thin films is found to be direct allowed transition ~3.24 eV. the FtIR spectrum of the film has the characteristics ZnO absorption band at 482 cm?1. the photoluminescence spectrum of the samples has an UV emission peak centred at 383 nm with broad band visible emission centred in the range of 500 - 600 nm.

A Study on the Feasibility of total Quality Management Model and the Awareness and Attitude of the Managers of Health Care

total Quality Management is not just an admirable phenomenon but it is any client’s right and can be done through contribution of the staff and the managers as well as the client’s of an organization. the purpose of the present study is to investigate the feasibility of tQM model and the attitude of the managers of health field of Yazd medical sciences university towards it. the present study was a descriptive and analytical one which was cross-section ally conducted from 2010 to 2011. the population under study consisted of the managers of the unit of staff vice-chancellor for health and treatment, the managers of health system and centers of cities and also the managers of Yazd’s public hospitals. 64 people were chosen using the formula for calculating the number of samples. A questionnaire with 48 questions was used. the questionnaire’s validity was approved by the faculty members whose major is management and its reliability by using α-cronbach 87%. to analyze the data, the software SPSS V.17 was used. Scoring method was based on likert. the findings of the study show that, considering feasibility of tQM, there is a significant relation between the awareness and attitude of the managers of health and treatment field on one side and the variables, age and University degree, on the other side p = 0.001. Considering binary logistic regression and the results obtained in the form of inter and backward stepwise, the most important factors affecting the feasibility of tQM among the managers of health and treatment field are the level of awareness and attitude with the predicted accuracy 79.3% and 87.9% respectively.

Helping Meet Reproductive Health Needs in Pakistan through a Client-centred Approach

Objective to test the feasibility of training clinic and facility based providers from the Health and Population Welfare Departments. Methods District Sargodha in Punjab province in Pakistan was selected for carrying out the project as it fulfilled the criteria of being a median district with generally similar characteristics as the rest of the country. A quasi-experimental design was used to test the effectiveness of the training programs. two rounds of situation analyses were carried out both pre and post intervention. Results there was a positive attitudinal change in providers in the intervention areas as compared with the control sites. From a list of indicators it was seen that clinic based static providers considered it important to enquire who were the main decision makers were in the family, 60% in intervention versus 49 % in control, and if the client can persuade other members of the family to assist in solving her reproductive health needs, 19% in intervention and 3% in control. In case of community based providers, as compared with 16% in the control site, 76% in the intervention area considered seeking permission for examination to be important. they also felt that enquiring about the welfare of other family members was also necessary, 50% in intervention and 34% in control. Conclusion training of providers could lead to attitudinal and behavioural changes that can help clients meet their reproductive health needs, and the intervention is feasible and replicable.

Is High Grade Prostatic Intraepithelial Neoplasia a Risk Factor for Prostate Cancer?—A Local Study

Objective: to determine the consequence of recognizing high grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia (HGPIN) & its extent on initial sextant prostatic biopsy then identifying its associated risk of finding prostate cancer on subsequent biopsy. Patients and methods: Seventy-one men were subjected to transrectal ultrasound guided sextant prostate biopsy due to elevated serum prostate specific antigen (***) > 4 ng /ml, an abnormal digital rectal examination (DRE) and/or transrectal ultrasound (tRUS) findings. the number, percentage, as well as bilateral and multifocal involvement of specimens positive for HGPIN were recorded in every patient. the percentage of cancer detected in these patients on repeat biopsy within 1 year of the initial biopsy was also recorded. Results: the mean age and mean *** level of our patients was 59.9 years and 7.9 ng/ml respectively. Of the 71 patients studied, initial biopsy revealed that (32.4%) had benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), (36.62%) had carcinoma, (25.35%) had HGPIN and (5.63%) had chronic prostatitis. On repeat biopsy within 1 year of initial biopsy cancer of the prostate was detected in 33.3% of our patients who were diagnosed with HGPIN on 1st biopsy. All of them had multifocal involvement on the initial biopsy. Conclusion: Recognizing HGPIN on 1st biopsy (particularly multifocal involvement) is associated with great risk of prostate cancer development on subsequent biopsy, thus comprehensive follow-up of these patients is necessary.

Some Important Features of Relativistic Charged Particles Produced in <sup>32</sup>S-Emulsion Interactions at 200 AGeV/c

An attempt has been made to study the multiplicity, angular and pseudo rapidity distributions of relativistic charged particles emerging from the interactions between sulphur and nuclear emulsion nuclei at 200 GeV/nucleon. the distributions from 200 AGeV are compared to the corresponding distributions from the predictions of Monte Carlo code FRItIOF samples. the pseudo rapidity distributions in different Nh-intervals translate to the target fragmentation region with increasing target mass. Finally, the scaling of multiplicity distributions of shower particles successfully describes the consequences of KNO scaling.

Carbon Dioxide Storage and Sequestration in Unconventional Shale Reservoirs

Carbon Dioxide (CO2) storage and sequestration in unconventional shale resources has been attracting interest since last couple of years due to the very unique characteristics of such formations have made them a feasible option for this object. Shale formations are found all around the world and the conventional assets are easily accessible, and also the huge move of operators toward developing unconventional reservoirs during past years leaves many of such formations ready for sequestering CO2. today, the use of long horizontal wells that are drilled on a pad has the lowest amount of environmental footprint in which for storage and sequestration purpose also provides much more underground pore spaces available for CO2. In this paper we study the state of the art of the technology of CO2 storage and sequestration and provide different and fresh look for its complex phenomena from a mathematical modeling point of view. Moreover, we hope this study provides valuable insights into the use of depleted shale gas reservoirs for carbon sequestration, which as a result, a cleaner atmosphere will be achieved for the life of our next generations. Also, we present that the depleted shale gas reservoirs are very adequate for this purpose as they already have much of the infrastructure required to perform CO2 injection available in sites.
